EducationRe: Stop Sending Your Children For Holiday Lessons by commoditiesnig(m): 12:51pm On Aug 21, 2023
Oduok:
Sending kids to holiday lessons makes no sense.

Most of you will make your kids go to school till they become useless. You took them to school at age 3 and abandon them there. During long vacation you still send them to school. To do what?

Can't you spend time to bond with your kids? What exactly are they going to achieve in school during vacation? Vacation lesson only favour school owners, not you. Allow kids rest for God's sake.

If you should engage kids during long vacation then teach them skills. Enrol your kids in centres that they can learn practical computer usage, coding, programming, painting and decoration, catering, musical instruments. Let them learn martial art, how to shot guns, how to wrestle. Teach them something beyond pure academics.

If a school should organize long vacation class then it should gear towards extra curricula activities - debate, modelling, music concert, science fair, mini project. How would you call kids back to school during holiday to learn Math, English, Chemistry, Social studies, accounting, by same teachers that taught them during school period. What is the difference? If these teachers knew what to teach why didn't they do it during normal school session.

Education is beyond memorizing facts. Give your kids opportunity to develop and be better prepare for life.
You're so spot on my dear!

That's why the developed countries are still way ahead of us.

During my years in Europe I observed their early to high school system, they don't just do "book book" but lots of games, sports and other activities. Those kids are so sharp/smart and articulate.

I'm trying to inculcate such in my young son not just books (I'm lucky his intelligent), but also to learn extra curricular activities: biking, chess, games, etc.

I'm planning on scheduling him for programming and chess lessons soon.

Their families will be the enemy's target. It's all strategy of war, as long as they themselves remain to fight the war.
It's still act of cowardice.

If you're sure of yourself, your family should be there with your people.. taking your family away says alot

The federal government has announced a N5 billion palliative for each state of the federation, including the federal capital territory (FCT), to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno state, made the announcement in Abuja on Thursday when he spoke to State House correspondents at the end of a national economic council (NEC) meeting.

Vice President Kashim Shettima presided over the meeting.

The council is made up of governors of the 36 states, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (BN) and other coopted government officials.

festacman:
Patience Jonathan was a highly assertive first lady who had most influence on her husband followed by Turai Yar'adua.

Aisha Buhari was a hot-headed first lady but met her match in her stubborn husband Muhammed Buhari and therefore had least influence followed by the gentle late Stella Obasanjo.

Oluremi Tinubu is obviously not a hot head and she is crafty. Being a politician, she understands the laws of power and power of social media. Time will tell how much influence she would have on President Tinubu but to any close observer, her organizing receptions for D'Tigress and Super Falcons points to a a woman who thinks ahead and takes advantage of gaps.
Brilliant analysis!

tunjijones:
I know Reno is a sycophant, but it's an aberration for people to be calling for military rule in Nigeria. It's treason.

On a second thought, I noticed it's either the Igbos (cos of Obi's lose) or young adults who have never experienced military regime or were too young to remember anything. I laugh mostly at them. Do you think military regime will allow this nonsense freedom you on social media.

You talk anyhow again a military govt, it's either they kill you secretly or detain you and nothing will happen.

I remember during Buhari period adults where doing frog jump on Lagos street. The human right abuse is too much during military regime.
