If I was a man, I would definitely save my wife, she's my better half. Wouldn't want to bring up my children all by myself and them to be motherless at an early age. I would give my mother a befitting burial.

Depends on how long and how often he's away from home. If for short periods of time, Yes. If all of the time, No.
