The website above is a UK website. A friend (white Canadian) went to the UK for masters and worked as a nanny. This is not uncommon. The point is to not change the nanny life to what we do to house helps in Nigeria. Don't become another example of immigrants who bring people from their countries to become, in the eyes of charities and the govt, slaves. Like I said before, what you're offering is a good opportunity, especially if they can stay after studies. However, if you overdo it, if they are on call throughout the day, the amount they're supposed to be paid will quickly skyrocket. That 15,000 will begin to look like child's play. Naira235: I doubt if you know what's operating in UK at all?? Domestic workers are different from Care assistant and also different from Child minders. Care assistant is different from live-in-carer and nanny. Everyone is proud of their profession and no one , I repeat none of the above can work , save £15,000 for school fees within 9- 12 months , and sponsor themselves with both feeding, accommodation and living expenses. |

I was discussing with my girl today about this and we did a bit of research. https://www.antislavery.org/slavery-today/domestic-work-and-slavery/Excerpt from the site: Domestic workers perform a range of tasks in private homes including: cooking, cleaning, laundry, taking care of children and the elderly and running errands. Some domestic workers also live in their employers’ homes and are often considered ‘on call’ to undertake work for their employer 24 hours a day.
The pay is often very low, with wage payments frequently delayed. Some domestic workers may not be paid at all or only receive ‘payment in kind’ such as food or accommodation.
For some domestic workers, the circumstances and conditions of their work amount to slavery. This happens when employers stop domestic workers from leaving the house, don’t pay wages, use violence or threats, withhold their identity documents, limit their contact with family and force them to work.Naira235: Inviting her over is applying for student visa through MSc route which cost over £15,000 and I see no evidence of slavery there.
I don't need any house help, but just a childminder. I have been paying childminder here but thought it will be additional advantage to someone else inform of tuition fees instead of paying over £700 every month for childminder . The only agreement is to pay their school fees direct to the school account in exchange for the work. |

Confirm with the laws to see if this is legal. Your perception of what is or is not slavery is irrelevant tbh. The important thing is to make sure that the law sees no evidence of slavery. Also, why do Masters, especially if it costs a bit? Why not a PG diploma? Do you have a tentative plan to get them residency? I don't know a lot about UK plans. You used the word 'control' in your complaints of you and your sister's relationship while you were in Nigeria. Governments see 'control' as slavery, whether or not you pay for their tuition, after all, slaves are traded like commodities. What do you mean by:
"a few days a week from 8 am to 2 pm"?
How much will you pay either your sister or your boss's daughter?
Would the UK govt characterise the relationship you wish to have with either lady as "modern-day slavery"?
Why I am asking is because you are looking for house help. Your sister/parents may not stand for it while the daughter of your boss may appreciate it....if you don't overdo it. |

Now you feel like you made sense shebi. Ybaby: It is the schools and the meat seller that are inconsiderate! The always insist on school fees and money for meat sha ni.
Then you see those children that are always saying mummy I want this, I want that (very inconsiderate)
Woman too wants to look good, wear nice clothes, lashes, nails skin, shoes, bags, gym membership, spa treatment, Brazilian hair etc (very inconsiderate)
My advise is to find women who use thread to ko iru or shuku (those hairstyles are beautiful, economical and hopeful within your budget- if not cut the hair with razor blade NGN50)
What you should not do is hope to coerce the Brazilian hair loving girl who likes to go to the spa twice a month for body scrub and massage to accept to have your children, feed you, shelter you and respect you. It will not happen.... why? Becaise other men also want her and they have means to provide for her, shelter her and thier kids.
My advise is to woske Sikira alagbo and take it from there.
Best of luck. |

Children will be children. I totally agree with the bolded. Whether it's your stepchildren or biological children. thesicilian: For the bolded part, no one can really blame the woman. However this can be partially prevented if the children are well behaved and the woman herself is financially independent. For example by sending the children to boarding school, etc. At least one thing is sure: there's a level to which someone can mistreat you if you don't rely on them for money |

Money is not the meaning of life. STOP TOLERATING CHEATS!! Drfernandez: I wonder what meaningful compromise a badly behaved woman who cannot tolerate a man who does not have money more than her or a man who can cheat on her can make for a man, especially a man who is better than her in all theses aspects.
On the male side, it is not a secret that a man will tolerate a woman who does not have money more than him and treats her well and may also tolerate her if she openly cheats on him.
So, will it be out of place to say that generally women are more selfish than men? If no, it will then be stupid and hypocritical for any woman to say that women are more considerate than men.
Those against @GuyInTheMirror wish for a good woman, what do you have to say, since all of you said that a man who insists on having a woman with good behavior is asking for too much.

1. I disagree with the whole sponsoring of wedding thing. I don't believe in bride price (I no dey buy goat). 2. All this sponsoring wahala depends on the family of the lady and the lady herself. Some, according to my babe, see it as levels. " My bride price is higher than yours" rubbish. 3. Women are sponsoring and consponsoring their marriages right now. This is not a new phenomenon. 4. Finally, the response from a co sponsoring or full sponsoring wife depends on her and you. If you act as an assjole, of course it will come up. JONNYSPUTE: ...I can understand that you really wanna sound objective here but the truth is that women must be women.
She must definitely bring up the issue sooner or later.
Guys, even if you pay up. A woman that sponsored her wedding completely is the man of the house. No two ways about it.
Nwanne, forget love. When you get married that is when you will findout that it is not only love that keeps a marriage afloat. |

It is better for you to squat with a friend or boyfriend than stay with your sister tbh.

Good point. Put (re)marry to stress that it isn't compulsory to marry. pocohantas: Oh, I get you now. So, a man doesn’t owe his step kids financial support or rather, he shouldn’t be forced to do it. I quite agree with this. Would we also understand with women who say they don’t owe their step-kids support? Or do we call them wicked stepmothers?
While you have a strong point, we should also understand it is not this easy in the real world. I don’t think anyone would be happy being in a marriage with someone who draws the line in how they treat the step-kids. Not like it is compulsory to even re(marry). |

Your premise is faulty. If the children are with her in her second marriage, you have to assume that the husband accepted them, at least at the onset of the marriage. thesicilian: It is the responsibility of a mother to take care of her children where the father's not in the picture and the stepfather does not want to. I also feel it is an irresponsible and overly desperate mother that would marry a man who does not want to accept her children from a previous marriage. |
