Nairaland and funny posts. Is it that our youths have become so lazy upstairs that they can't decide basic things for themselves? So after this stage, you will come online to ask which church or mosque to attend in Lagos, if to buy a car 1st before a plot of land, if to marry 1st before dating, abi if to impregnate 1st before paying bride price and so on......
Politics › Re: Outcome Of Buhari's Meeting With APC Stakeholders by cooooooks(m): 4:55am On Jun 06, 2022
Amaechi was Governor for 8 years after being State Assembly Speaker for 8 years. He was a very good administrator of Rivers.

An Amaechi Presidential candidacy would win Rivers & all South South/South East states (apart from Anambra).

Politics is local. Atiku will not win a Presidential vote count against Amaechi in Rivers.

Wike lost the presidency bid, and is not going to be in politics again. He is politically dead now. Wike cannot make Rivers people to vote Atiku over Amaechi. Exactly the same way Amaechi (a popular governor then in 2014/2015) could not make Rivers people to vote a Northerner, Buhari, over Jonathan.

This "Scorecard" is a fantasy.
sogodihno:
Tinubu or Osibanjo is clinching the ticket, anyone doubting this is living in a fools paradise

Where are those carrying fake news that Buhari has endorse Amaechi, you shall cry last last.

Career › Re: Should I Drop Out Or Not? by cooooooks(m): 5:12pm On Jun 01, 2022
My advice:
Do not drop out. You are halfway done. In Nigeria, or even to get out of Nigeria, your degree is extremely important.

Take Google Certification courses if you can. UX research & design, project management, web design, etc.

See if you can get into the pipelines for work from home jobs from the US in Nigeria.

Try to finish your degree with a 2,2 at worst.

Good luck.

This isn't a double standard issue.

No indication that a call wasn't also made to her sexual partner's next of kin.

The issue here is that she was married, not that she is a woman.

Okay. I will try this out.

It's not for me, but a friend. The friend went to MTN's office. They had a #16k. In my own experience, MTN has the best internet, but the data dey quick finish. I told them not to buy it and to check out Smile.

What do you think?

Are the prices still high?

Prices have fallen to early 2021 levels in (parts of) Canada.

bligs:
You can get a very good 3bedroom house with 600k-800k in the western suburbs of Melbourne, though about 45 to 50mins drive from the CBD. Suburbs like Tarneit, Truganina, Werribee, Wnydham Vale and some part of Point Cook. The only down side is apart from Point Cook and Werribee, others are dominated by migrants from India and Middle East thus houses there are bit cheaper compare to Northern and Eastern suburbs.
Travel › Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by cooooooks(m): 2:56am On May 31, 2022
Did you consider Vancouver in Canada?

That is by far the best climate that I've experienced in Canada. Even though it is crazy expensive.

Also, are you a Canadian citizen already?

Asking because I'm on the Canadian PR journey but recently started considering Australia.

aussievision:
Hello fellow Aussies,

I am planning to migrate from Canada to Australia and I have secured the Aussie PR already. Yes, I prefer warmer weather to staying indoors most of the time during the year - love the outdoor life.

My question is - what are some of the best places to buy a house 45mins - 1hr from the Sydney CBD? I will sell my house in Canada and move the funds to Aussie. I am hoping to rent for some time(maybe a year) until the new build is ready. I am guessing that is how long it might take. I could be wrong.

I have a young fam so I am looking for a safe neighbourhood with very good schools. I am looking for a new build/construction.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I will be doing an internal transfer from my current company to the branch in Australia.

Thank you in adv for the assistance.
Travel › Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by cooooooks(m):
To do so, get a French A1 - A2 textbook.

Give yourself 2 months to go through the book. This would mean at least 1 chapter a day. For a good textbook and for a beginner, that is at least 3 to 5 hours.

After each textbook, do a complete mock french test. Perhaps do the one you would like to take (TCF or TEF).

I would recommend Vite et Bien. I used Vite et Bien 2 in Canada to learn at YMCA. HEre's a link to download Vite et Bien 1 (A1 and A2): https://www.pdfdrive.com/vite-et-bien-1-a1-a2-m%C3%A9thode-rapide-pour-adultes-e186547341.html

I promise you that it is basically a self study book (at least for Vite et Bien 2).

When I started learning french, french.about.com was by far the best online resource. I believe they do not exist anymore. I believ the lady that ran that site opened her own: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/welcome/about-lkl/

I promise you, at the beginning stage, you need motivation, and internet. My brother uses busuu.com. He has recently gotten to B1 level from complete self study.

I went to the Ibadan center, the receptionist told me it would take 16months to learn from the beginning, that is if I go for afternoon class of 10hrs per week..The time frame is too long for me, I want to be able to write the exam by December latest. I didn't know it would take this long, maybe I would have to get a tutor

https://www.immigration.ca/quebec-to-slash-tuition-fees-for-many-international-students-at-universities-in-outlying-regions

The Quebec Government needs people to move to their less populated regions.

As such, they are slashing tuition for international students who study in certain fields (healthcare, engineering, education, etc) at universities in those regions.

The only caveat is that you have to study in French.

If you want to go to Canada and are worried about money, this is a golden opportunity for the next few years.

I posted this on some other threads but was surprised at the lack of response. This is a good opportunity, or motivator for our nascent french speakers.

I would strongly suggest taking practice tests yourself first before getting ba coach.

The point of the coach should be to boost your speaking considerably.

The other sections do not necessarily need a coach.

B2 na B2.

I personally took TCF and will take another french exam soon.

HistoryBuff:
Hello everyone. I will soon be finishing my B1 class and so I am obviously thinking more seriously about the exam that I am supposed to write at the end of all of this. I am conflicted between TEF and TCF. I know they are both acceptable for immigration purposes but I don't know if one is better than the other.

So, I would like you guys' learned opinion on what the difference is between the two and if you would recommend one over the other. For example, someone was telling me that while TEF has negative marking, TCF does not. He also said that while TEF makes a distinction between a high B2 and a low B2, TCF simply has B2. Now I'm not sure what the ramifications of a low B2 would be for one's immigration application and I would really appreciate getting your opinion on this.

Thanks.

You can use any language as your first language.

I'd suggest using french I my if you're at B2 level or higher.

You can't throw money around in child custody cases. In any case, you're opening yourself up to hefty monthly child support payments.

I just read the ruling.

This is an evil ruling. Goes against their guidelines and is indefensible.

I'll have to share this ruling with family.

This is not how applications are processed, but by this ruling, they have protected themselves from any litigation on this front.

The guy showed enough funds for 2 full years for goodness' sake.

At that rate, the number of people who would be able to attend (common) U of Manitoba; not Harvard or anything else, will dwindle seriously.

As for the student, starting a uni program at 24 in Canada was always going to be negative. I suspect this is the real reason for his refusal.

They didn't show prior university education or work experience, per the law packet. Why? Is he saying that he did no education in Nigeria after secondary school?

Crazy ruling.
