If someone says that, just ask her: "Did you ask for my number"?
jayied: I can relate to this your post, a girl in my place of work always calls me her crush, everyday she sees me, I ignored her and just made it a Hi and hello something until after 2 months she rant about me not wanting her not even interested in having her number or even a day invite her over to my place...
She was so serious you could tell the pain in her voice only to give her a chance by collecting her number and saying Hello.
Omooh after like twice of calling her she never for once called me, she sees me at work and act like i don't exist...
I decided to play her mind games and ignored her totally... The thing dey pain her more sef.
What do you want to do? Are you actively working on that?
Are you computer-literate? Can you tap into an emerging economy: tech mostly? Could you do practical school? Learn a foreign language?
No need to go to university or polytechnic without a plan.
If you ever plan on leaving the country, you likely will need some education (especially nursing), so strongly consider practical schools (midwifery, nurse aide, etc).
Tell her: "Do not be ostentatious, but do stop begging".
Lifestyle creep is a problem that keeps people poor. They assume that they are rich now, increase their spending, and never save (enough).
himir42175: I'll try to summarize. I recently came across good fortune, after lots of hardwork. The type that upscales your standard of living by a huge percentage. Good right? But the problem now is my spouse. For reasons known best to her, she doesnt want her family to have any idea of this. I understand times are wicked and you gotta be careful. I understand this. but the approach is what mesmerizes me. When they ask after us, she sometimes tell them we've not eaten for days. That we had to go beg for food etc. That somebody lent us piecemeal amounts etc to eat. That i'm sick and we cant pay the hospital bill. She even goes as far as asking siblings to send her recharge vouchers like 100, 200, etc. And sometimes sends her account number to them and beg for 1k, 2k etc. Now this puts me off because, in so doing she has dragged my respect to the mud. Probably they all now see me as a church-rat, no do-good. If you want to hide your finances, must you tell them that we havent eaten for days, and beg them to send you 1k to eat. It hurts my reputation alot. Not only her siblings, her friends and all. Did she think about the image of me she is portraying by doing such? I'm really cnfused and it hurts me alot because you would think she's trying to be smart to save money. But the reverse is the case; cos she doesnt blows through money like hot knife through butter. The problem now is why she had to rubbish me inthe mud for this? I didnt ask for any of this.
The mom does not want the marriage, so she went to the pastor, paid "offering", and he told her what she wanted to hear.
Ignore parents, siblings, entities who do not give valid reasons why they are against your union.
Do not get married out of spite, though. Use this opportunity, you and your gf, to check if you still want to continue. If so, (respectfully) damn the naysayers.
Lhardy: First this is a new account created for this purpose only
So I have been seeing this lady for 2years and now.made our intensions known early enough to settle down till recently her mother had to contact her pastor whom told her to put and end to the whole arrangement because it's not supported by God.the whole siblings are behind the mother on the pastors decisions.
Now my question is: 1)do God actually talk to pastors and religious leaders on this kind of matters and is it biblical too.(because the practice seems to be African thing only,*for me I will call it necromancy* cos no man decides any man's faith But your creator)
2)Those that has been here, what do you advice.
3)those that has been here and gone ahead with the matrimony still what has been your experience.
4)Is this a trend that actually should be allowed to go on or do people need to speak up on this.
Modes: please you can help move to front page to get more suggestions and contributions pleasesss
suffering: Every day, the same topics in this forum. If na oyibo get this place them for automate bots to repeat queries which appear here every other day. Nairalanders for don tire to rant about waist beads.
Stop bringing your (often false or exaggerated) bad experiences and putting it on others.
At 18, I would have wanted to show you that not all men, in fact most are not bad. Now, son of man just moves on.
jackals: I'm not with any man. Men have an habit of underating you when you show them how much you care. Between, I just wanted to see how consistent he is. I just dropped an SMS for him on his local number hoping he reply.
Funny enough, I have crayfish, okporo, dry pepper straight from Naija, I don't think I've ever bought them here.
descarado: Pls don't buy okpeye from African shops. It will ruin your stew. I always advise anytime you travel to naija or your people are sending stuffs, these small small things are a must.
You can make banga stew without okpei. I started using okpei when I schooled in Enugu state cos I grew up without it and ofe akwu is a core in my place.
As long as you have scent leave( even dry one will do) and smoked or dry fish with any meat of choice, you are good to go. Put enough crayfish and onions. Not too much palm concentrate, uou will be good. One of the quickest and easiest food to make now cos of the palm concentrate.
I'll check if African stores have Okpeye and calabash nutmeg. I think they have scent leaves too.
Favour315: You can't use palm oil but you can use crushed palm fruits or palm fruits concentrate which can be found in supermarkets/ grocery stores
Ugu is actually optional in this soup, so it can be done without if you can't find it
As for the okpeye, you can equally cook your Banga stew without it just that it's unique flavor will be missing. I don't know how fermented soybean taste loo like so can't say if it should serve as replacement for okpeye
Ehuru is called calabash nutmeg in English and it's very necessary when cooking Banga stew, please don't put ordinary nutmeg in Banga stew, if you have your scent leaves, then cook it like that, even though it may not taste exactly the way it should but believe me you will love the outcome provided the other ingredients apart from okpeye and ehuru are available.please do not add groundnut to your Banga stew, hope this helps
Biko, assist your abroadian brothers with replacements:
- Could I use palm oil or canned crushed palm fruit (from Ghana), to replace the fresh palm fruit?
- Could I use Spinach instead of Ugwu leaf (I have some already cut and frozen spinach)?
- What do I use instead of Okpeye? Soy sauce? Ignore this ingredient? I said soy sauce because it is gotten from fermented soya beans.
I don't even know what ehuru is. I do have some nutmeg spice. Could I use that instead?
Finally, I have some groundnut that was ground for use in making groundnut soup. Any idea on a recipe? My sister's and mom have never cooked this before. Could I add it here?
Jonathan is not interested in the presidency: - too many people, - would be a long fight, - he would be partisan again. - he would be making chicken change officially compared to what he makes as an international observer, etc.
Despite how bad it feels, the screenshot is the average processing time for an application.
It may be faster for people especially as IRCC is trying to speed things up. It may also take longer.
There are people who applied for HCCP or HSWP in 2019/2020 that have not yet received their visas.
OloriOfMontreal: Thanks. That's the screenshot I was referring to, it really doesn't prove much. Again based on the recent IRCC announcement, Spousal sponsorship application still ranges between a year or less. Hopefully that doesn't change for worse.
If you're a PR, then you can go to school as a PR.
If you're a PR, then you can sponsor your spouse. You will have to prove that it is not a sham wedding.
Pictures, videos, etc. Even better if you guys have lived together (proof through bill).
lipsyliscious: Good day. Please I just got my PR and will be returning later in the year to do a court wedding with my fiancé. I want to also go for my masters later in the year, what I want to know is if my masters will be a hinderance to sponsoring my spouse.
If the form needs physical signature (check the application guide), print, sign, and upload.
If it doesn't (those forms that generate barcode after you click "validate", save and upload.
For photos, take a photo against a white or cream background. You could use an app or website to cut the photo to the correct size.
Alternatively, go to photo studio (in Nigeria) or pharmacy (in Canada) to take and cut the photo.
slimboy007: Hi guys, I'm new here. And currently in the process of applying. So I'm a bit confused with the online application, esp the uploads part, Abeg how una take dey upload. Lastly, the PR photo how una take do am.
Perhaps that will make it faster (except the Nigerian background check part).
You and your lawyer would need to draft a good letter of explanation.
lekanlaniyan: Good day house, with reference to my situation. My lawyer is advising we resubmit another application because the embassy has not replied our email.
You guys just have used his email as the main email.
adveert002: Goodmorning members Congrats to those who got AOR Please my husband got 2 mails yesterday with one mail having an attachment confirming his eligibility as a sponsor. Some other information included that my application will be forwarded to visa office in Accra for further process.
Me the main applicant did not get any mail ohh. Is this the AOR we have been waiting for?
adveert002: Goodmorning guys So it's 2 month and some days since I submitted my application and no AOR yet. So i decided to go to the portal to check on my application status, after I loggged in. The tab brought up what I applied for, submitted and the day I submitted but no application name, I also could not open the tab. Please is this a normal scenario or I should be worried
Nne, my application was received Nov 2021 and I got AOR April 2022.
Have patience.
joy2dworld4eva: I am tired already. My application was received on Sept 16th and I got AOR on Nov 25th. Since then till now, I haven't received any update. Is there anything I can do?
I just landed in Canada few hours ago via Ethopian airlines from Lagos Airport.
I registered on arrive can, switch health, and printed all documents before arriving Lagos airport. The guy who pushed my trolley attempted to scam me 7500 for yellow card, amongst other scams, but I remembered narrations on nairaland so I didn’t fall for any. I didn’t spend any money during the journey, but you can give tips as the Spirit leads.
After showing my passport, I passed my bags through the machine just near the Lagos airport door. I then went straight to Ethiopian airlines check-in counter admist the crazy queue. Those check-in staff are not smiling, be prepared with your documents make them nor delay you. My bags didn’t exceed the limit & I suggest you go at least 4-5 hours before the flight just incase.
After about 4 more security checks, I boarded & arrived addis ababa some hours later where I was able to use the free airport wifi to update loved ones. Ethiopian airlines was ok, nothing bad to say. It was a long flight & having to seat for so long in such confined space does a number on the body.
Arrived Toronto Pearson quite early in the morning & I think that plays a role in how relaxed the airport & staff were as I wasn’t subjected to much questioning. Having all documents on hand in paper really helps. Make sure you’re organized & calm, your documents may speak for you & questions were minimal to none in my case. Don’t be afraid to ask polite questions when looking for directions or clarity.
Since I registered with switch health, I was directed to a shorter queue for arrival covid test which was the last stop before finally exiting the airport. I didn’t pay for the test & I wasn’t told anything about quarantine. I am fully vaccinated & wore my mask & sanitized at all times cos I don’t want a positive covid test result. It didn’t really snow much at the time I arrived, however it is cold here.
And refugee applications have the priority. So in the last 8 - 12 months, Afghan and Ukrainian applications have taken precedence over everyone else.
iskilayodele: Na wa for Canada o! Sponsorship in UK and the rest of Europe is an average of 3 months. I wonder why Canada is this wicked! In contrast, Express entry is 6 months while sponsorship is 12months, is Express entry far more important than spouse sponsorship!? Yet they will be saying they need immigrants but are making processing time a long frustrating one- what an irony
I must say, Nigeria's Bureaucracy is 100% efficient than that of Canada
