Christianity Etc › Re: What Does It Really Mean To Be Born Again? by cornelboy(f):
RoyalDiadems:
My brother, you're missing it big time.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit is Baptism into the power of God. Being born again is the experience you have the moment you give your life to Christ. You're reborn. After that you can now be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
You can have the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit without being baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Born again experience comes with a change of heart and a renewed determination to please God. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied with the evidence of speaking in tongues. It is an introduction into the power of God.
To be born again is different from being baptized in the Holy Ghost.
You got it all twisted up.

In Acts 19:1-2, Paul was asking some disciples, 'Have you received the Holy Spirit since ye believed?"
Acts of the Apostles 19:2
[2]“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Acts of the Apostles 19:5-6
[5]As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[6]Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.

According to Roman 10:9&10, those people Paul was talking to were already saved because they have believed.
But they haven't received the holy spirit yet. They haven't become born agains.

Paul first baptized them with water in the name of Jesus, they haven't still got the holy spirit. After that Paul laid hands on them and passed the holy spirit to them i.e they were baptized by the HS and they became born agains.

John 3:5-6
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

You see that being born again means being baptized by water first and then the holy spirit.
It could be the holy spirit first, then water baptism. It was so in Paul's case. Acts 9:17&18.

Everyone saved is born again, but not everyone saved is baptised into the power of God.
[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

The hs does the work of giving birth to spiritual life. That's, without holy spirit, you can't get born again.

In conclusion, born agains are those that are baptized by the holy spirit and water. So all born agains are definitely saved while all saved are not born agains. Not everyone in the time of the early church got the chance to be laid hands upon. They believed, got saved but never had the holy spirit, hence they were saved but not born agains. For example the Ethiopian eunuch Philip explained the scripture to. Acts 8:26-39

Jah bless.

How was it? What's a typical JW service like?
I'm not a JW yet actually.

Their service is definitely different from other churches.
They sing beautiful hymns at the beginning and end of their meetings. They don't turn church to where you catch fun or have wild parties like it's happening in some churches today.
They focus their meetings on the studying Bible.
Their prayer is said by one person and it's short and precise. The person saying the prayers ends it with "amen" and the rest of the church respond with "amen".
Their meetings are always interactive.
They don't have pastors. They are all brothers. Anyone could lead any part of the meeting.
They don't collect offerings and lots more.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Christian Trinitarian God Defined by cornelboy(f): 7:07pm On May 01, 2022
OLAADEGBU:
The Christian Trinitarian God defined

1. Uniqueness of God
The Christian God is the one and only divine Being. He is the “I AM.” He has nothing against which He can be compared and defined. Therefore, truth, wisdom, goodness, justice, love, holiness, mercy, etc., are self-revealed as an expression of his Holy Nature. God expresses Himself through creation, scripture, and Jesus. His self-revealed character is the ultimate standard with which we measure all things. God is the source of all truths, all actualities, and all potentialities.

2. Aseity of God
There have been no gods before Him, and there will be no gods after Him. He is eternal, uncreated, non-contingent, unchanging, transcendent, sovereign, and immutable. There is no condition in which the Christian God might exist or could not exist since that would not be the God of the Bible. He simply is by nature, eternal. Therefore, nothing can be proposed by which God’s existence, goodness, and nature can be compared and measured.

3. Nature of God
He is spiritual in nature and exists as a Trinity, consisting of three divine, distinct, and simultaneous persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is not comprised of parts but is one Being which we call Divine Simplicity. Neither person derives His substance from either or both of the others. The three persons share the same divine essence, known as the Ontological Trinity, but express different functions in creation known as the Economic Trinity. The three persons inter-indwell each other, which is called the perichoresis. As a result, there is one will. Yet, in the fullness of Scripture, God expresses Himself in three, distinct, and simultaneous persons. God’s incommunicable attributes stress His transcendence, and His communicable attributes stress his immanence. He possesses infinite knowledge, wisdom, presence, and power that manifest out of His good and holy nature. Whatever attribute God possesses, He does not possess its opposite. God is good and cannot be not good.

4. Unity and Diversity of God
In the Trinity are unity and diversity, which are equally basic and mutually dependent upon one another. The unity and diversity of God’s nature provide the unifying principle of the one and the many behind the material world as well as universals within it. Therefore, God is the ultimate and necessary Being who provides the precondition for all intelligibility.

5. Creation of God
Everything that exists, does so as a direct action of God’s decretive will or as a result of His permissive will. He created the universe as well as people. God is neither included in space nor absent from it. He does whatever He pleases and ordains all that occurs yet He is not the cause of sin. Since He is the ultimate standard of all that is good and righteous, He will judge all people. Those who have, by faith, trusted in the atoning sacrifice of the Second Person of the Trinity, Jesus, who is God in flesh, will be saved from eternal judgment. Those who have not will face righteous and eternal condemnation.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Are Most Christians Heading To Hell? by cornelboy(f): 7:03pm On May 01, 2022
Onyiiobi7735:
Many Christians of today are very judgemental of others in their midst, and by their criticism put a stumbling block on the path of the weak brethren working hard to repent fully and be reconciled to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law,and judgeth the law;but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?( James 4:11_12).
Judgmental people often criticise blindly, forgetting they have their own faults and weaknesses too. They fail to realise that only Christ Jesus has the Ultimate Power as a Judge, and once you accept Him into your life,He purges you by His Sacred Blood, and puts you right with God the Father.
So no human has the right to judge another based on their past mistakes. We are all sinners undeserving of God's Mercy, but because He so loved us,He sent His Son Christ Jesus to offer His Sacred Blood for our salvation and reconciliation.
Judgemental attitude puts a person in danger of God's judgment, because by judging another who is trying to free himself from his sins, you discourage and weaken him emotionally and spiritually.
This can make him backslide.
God hates Judgemental attitude and specifically warned against that in the scriptures. Because a Judgemental Christian is blindly heading for Hell.
To be Continued........
Because Jesus went there himself.

Don't mind kobojunkie.
God never created the angels to test them or even programmed them.

Satan and the rebellious angels with him rebelled against JEHOVAH God out of their own free will.

Satan the devil and the demons obviously sinned and they will cast into the "lake of fire" in the future. That's their punishment.

But kobojunkie would say Satan was programmed by God to do what he's been doing.

Being born again is a precursor to being saved.
That's exact opposite of what the Bible teaches.

At Acts 8:4-17, Philip preached to the people of Samaria and they believed. According to Roman 10:9&10 they were already baptized and saved.
Peter and John were later sent to them to lay hands on them so that they could receive the baptism of the holy spirit and hence become born agains.

The Ethiopian eunuch mentioned later in the same verse got baptized in water in the name of Jesus but didn't receive the holy spirit. He believed, did water baptism but wasn't born again (baptized by the holy ghost).

John 3:5-6
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.

[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

Paul also believed before he got the holy spirit through laying of hands by Ananias.

So believing and being saved is the precursor to being born again.
Not all saved were/are born agains.

Most times we have had many pastors and evangelists preach, urging us to become born again. What do they really mean, and why is it so important?

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself was the very first Person who introduced the concept to Nicodemus, a Pharisee in John Chapter 3.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, Verily, I say unto you. Except a man be born again. he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:3.

Even Nicodemus didn't understand anything Jesus was saying as both of them dialogued together on that beautiful night.

Now, what was Jesus saying here? He was simply saying that you cannot see or experience God until your spirit undergoes a rebirth. After the fall in the garden of Eden, man's spiritual ability and essence died. He became 100% canal, both in mind and body.

Meanwhile, God is a spirit, you cannot see or experience God with your flesh. Have you ever watched movies where a loved one died in a roleplay? Immediately the spirit of the dead one emerges out of the body, both the dead and the living lose contact with themselves. The dead person, still assuming himself or herself to be alive, tries as much as possible to touch and speak to those mourning relatives, all to no avail. The dead fellow is there in spirit but no one is seeing or experiencing him.

The only part of you that can relate with God is your spirit. That is why, you would see many people who err when they try to experience and see God through logic and physical experiences. They often meet with a brickwall in their quest, then, they conclude that there is no God. However, no matter how much you deny the existence of God, God never ceases to exist.

The Word of God is a spiritual entity having the ability to reborn the spirit. The mighty Holy Spirit uses the Word to inject life into the spirit man, and bring him into spiritual realities.

When the Holy Sprit begins His work of Salvation in a man through the Word of God, for the first time in his life, he would realize how sinful he is. He would realize his need for a Saviour. He would realise how much love God has bestowed upon him. He would also come to the realization of the value of Christ's death on Calvary. All these happen within the purveyors of his spirit man. He begins to see and experience things that were hitherto hidden and illogical to him. Though this experince, practically inexplainable, this is the foundation of Being 'Born Again.' It is not something any man can do for himself. It takes a willful submission to the Holy Spirit to be taken into such heavenly bliss.

There's no amount of water poured on the body that can wash the spirit. Water is physical, while the spirit is spiritual. A physical substance such as water cannot purify a spiritual entity such as the soul. That is why it takes the full workings of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Christ which was shed on Calvary to save the lost.

God is a Spirit, and anyone who must relate with Him must do so in Spirit. That glorious experience of being Born Again is what brings you into relationship with God. You cannot know the living God through any other means. Only the spiritual can relate with the spiritual. Being a Christian and bearing Christian names does not give you this experience. You may never get it, no matter how many times you go to church per day. You could even be a pastor and still be lost. This calls for sober reflection because many people being so much deceived are practicing religion. Religion does not move God. God is only moved by your relationship with Him.

You can seize the opportunity to see and experience God today. Come to Jesus and submit yourself to Him. He would take you on a journey to places where you have never been, to see things beyond the reach of the natural eyes. This is the true salvation, and this is the true gospel.

"...if you confess with with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10::9.
Being saved is different from be born again.

I keep wondering, is that not stressful?

If we were once in heaven before being born on earth. Then whats the essence of coming down to earth to struggle to go back to the same heaven?

Or perhaps, we were not in heaven before but made by GOD in our mothers womb, why not just kukuma put us in heaven direct instead of first branching earth and be given DO's and DONT's to enter heaven?

My case¡
God never intended the earth to be evil like it's today. Man was created to live on earth not heaven.
He created the first man to live in abundance, peace and happiness. Man was also created to live forever.

Satan tricked our first parents Adam and Eve. Adam sinned and through that, death, pain, struggle, evil came into the world.

Jehovah God is actually doing everything to restore earth back his original purpose for creating it.

God will carry out his will on earth through his kingdom that will be led by the powerful King, God's son, Jesus.
Satan will be destroyed, wicked people will also be destroyed and every form of evil will be no more.

There will be no more death, pain, struggle sickness, crying, famine, war etc.
God himself will live with his people.

Peace.

Your absolutely not wrong.

The kingdom has already been established in heaven already and it will surely come to earth to establish justice and righteousness. The kingdom being led by Jesus will carry out God's will for earth. Matthew 6:10

Revelation 5:9-10
[9]And they sang a new song with these words:
“You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.

[10]And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.”

Revelation 14:3-5
[3]This great choir sang a wonderful new song in front of the throne of God and before the four living beings and the twenty-four elders. No one could learn this song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
[4]They have kept themselves as pure as virgins, following the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been purchased from among the people on the earth as a special offering to God and to the Lamb.
[5]They have told no lies; they are without blame.

You see that the 144000 are those chosen by God from every tribes of the earth. They have the seal of the holy spirit. They are part of the kingdom established in heaven. Like they are in heaven right now and will later come to reign on earth. Thy are kings and Jesus is their KING. Hence Jesus is the King of kings.

Hismasterpiece,

1 Corinthians 15:45,47
[45]The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit.
[47]Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven.

John 3:5-6
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

I'd like to start from the creation of Adam again.
First I want you to carefully study and compare the verses I provided above at John and Corinthians. You should see that the life we got from Adam is clearly different from the one Jesus brought through the holy spirit.

God made Adam from dust and was given life. He was not a spirit or preexisted as a spirit.
When he stopped breathing, his life ended just as God cursed him and he returned to dust.
Did he have any independent spirit inside him? No!

You mentioned something about the spirit of Adam dying the day he ate the fruit. Is that idea coherent? No!
If his spirit was him, there's no way he could continue to live when his spirit had died.
The reality is, God breath/spirit gave Adam life.

So the life everyone that lived after Adam had is the same as Adam's. They lived, grew old, died and returned to dust.

Every one of us got that same life from Adam, but it was different for Jesus cos he was from heaven directly and for born agains, i.e those that were/are baptized by the holy spirit.
Note from John 3:6 that only those that are baptized by the holy spirit would be born into the spiritual life.

You should see that those that had died before Jesus (Moses, Samuel, David etc..) are actually in no other place than the grave. That's why Jesus said in John 5:28&29 that they will rise up to experience eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:48-51
[48]Earthly people are like the earthly man (Adam), and heavenly people are like the heavenly man (Jesus).
[49]Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man.
[50]What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

1 Corinthians 15:42
[42]It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever.

There are actually two type of Resurrection.
Some (people like Paul, the Apostles, born agains generally) will be resurrected to heaven after death. They are the first fruits and will be made king and priests in God's Kingdom.

The rest of us will be resurrected in the future when Jesus comes back.

Read through 1 Corinthians 15:35-50.

2 Corinthians 5:1-8 refers to those that will be resurrected to heaven. These people are born into spiritual life through the holy spirit. The born-agains!

2Co 5:1 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down – when we die and leave these bodies – we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands.
2Co 5:2 We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long for the day when we will put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.
2Co 5:3 For we will not be spirits without bodies, but we will put on new heavenly bodies.
2Co 5:4 Our dying bodies make us groan and sigh, but it's not that we want to die and have no bodies at all. We want to slip into our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by everlasting life.
2Co 5:5 God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.
2Co 5:6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.
2Co 5:7 That is why we live by believing and not by seeing.
2Co 5:8 Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.
Let me address 2 Corinthians chapter 5:1-8 first. One at a time.

Where do you think Samuel's spirit got the prophecy from? From God?

A spirit impersonated Samuel and took his appearance and gave some prophecy obviously not from God.
