onatisi: Because you dont see anything special about the place, due to your exposure and enlightenment. The same way many will see no reason to spend more than the normal visa fees for usa or canada visa i know some ppp who even count it as absolute stupidity and madness for anyone to pay 50k usa visa fees but yet many here critising this man will happily sell their cars and properties worth millions just to even secure if possible a 2 weeks visa to usa, many critising this man may have even tried usa and other developed countries visa more than 4 times and yet they keep trying, they don't see the money as a waste due to their perception.
Hmmnn. I have read some of your posts on economic matters before and found them very educative but these your posts under travel get as he be ooo
cristianisraeli: it depends on the country bro....thats why if you visit some embassy website you would see it there..i can name some ...EG mexico..lets not talk sometimes because we have the power to bash someone online..my annoyance..the guy was not even given the chance to finish up..its very very wrong and unfair..the guy is going thru the worse situation..imagine been locked up like that for hours after spending alot of money..yea you can say he brought it on him self..the question is...would they treat a south african, eqyptian,or another national of another country aside nigeria and ghanians...the answer is NO..i dont want to mention oyinbos..we all know oyinbos dont commit crimes..LOL.according to african mentality...in nigeria even thiefs would be the first to cast the first STONE..for me the guy didnt commit any crime he was profiled because hes from NIGERIA
This type of information is virtually in all Embassies including the US Embassy, even the one I saw at the US Embassy included not giving kola. These shameful acts, unfortunately are carried out by their local (Nigerian) staff.
I've been to South Africa for a business meeting several times during the hot and cold season
It's even colder in Nigeria than in South Africa
Even in the USA where it snows heavily in the winters, it's now summer and you can't walk outsidewithout melting
You can take someone out of the forest but you can't take the forest out of her
Bolded statement is even more embarrassing than Olajumoke's statement.
"South Africa has typical weather for the Southern Hemisphere, with the coldest days in June–August. On the central plateau, which includes the Free State and Gauteng provinces, the altitude keeps the average temperatures below 40 °C (104 °F); Johannesburg, for example, lies at 1,753 metres (5,751 ft). In winter temperatures can drop below freezing, also due to altitude. During winter it is warmest in the coastal regions, especially on the eastern Indian Ocean coast". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_South_Africa
Even when it's warm in Europe, an African not used to the weather could still feel cold.
ol2012: Thanks for your advise But I'm wondering, will I also be "held responsible" if a customer pays me for goods sold/services rendered with stolen cash? Or how am I supposed to know a debit card is stolen if the cardholder supplies the correct pin when making payment with my POS terminal?
You're likely to be questioned by the law enforcement officers. This is why it is a good practice to have a CCTV installed in your business premises. With this, you'll have the evidence that an exchange (of goods and services) took place and you have the picture of the customer. In a situation the business cannot afford to install a CCTV it would be good to take the alternative measures to protect yourself, such as taking electronic pictures of the customers like commercial banks do when large sums of money are withdrawn. This additional measures may look burdensome but when you think of "police wahala" in situations like this, then no measures taken would be too much. My take.
ol2012: Bros me, I get POS oh! I get two(2) sef I've sent you a PM
You need to be mindful of what your POS is used for because you'll be held responsible if a stolen debit card is used on it. Imagine if the card was taking at gun point, that is armed robbery which attracts death penalty!
For businesses with POS it is a good practice to have CCTV installed in their business premises.
Please do not ship passports through the mail - it is very risky for him to be in the U.S. without proper documentation and the risk of theft or loss is too great. The visa is what allows people to appear at the border and seek entrance - the CBP in conjunction with the SEVIS status are what determine how long a student can stay. If your son wants to travel to Nigeria, he will need to have a valid visa for his return - if that is after April 2017, then he could apply for Dropbox while he is visiting Nigeria.
Regards, Student Visa Team
Dear Visa Team,
My daughter's F1 Visa would expire in August this year. She will be coming to Nigeria in early July for her sibling's wedding and return end of July. Her school would resume early August.
I sought for advice from the International Advisor she's attached to, on what she would need to do to maintain her status.
The advice I got was that nothing was really required from her except to register for the Fall semester before travelling out of USA. Reading the advice quoted above, it appears to me that she should renew her F1 visa in Nigeria before returning to the USA. If this is the correct situation, can she renew the visa before expiration? Her visa wouldn't expire until early August 2017 and she would return last week in July 2017.
marylandcakes: My response is related to the sad video of the Libya smugglers and African migrants, no human being deserves to be treated that way no matter what.
I would rather blame the illegal migrants for embarking on such risky venture. Most of them knew what they could face crossing the desert and passing through Libya. In the video, some of them actually said they rather die trying to cross than go back home.
For four years now (or thereabout) there is no legitimate government in Libya, so no one should expect much from militants governing various parts of Libya. Their law enforcement officers were not trained and equally ill-equipped.
For Europe, she has the legitimate right to protect her borders just like any other country, though this is neglected by my country. At least we've heard people we voted in to protect us, telling us Nigeria was invaded by herdsmen from Mali and Senegal yet they refused to act in line with the oath of office they took.
Africans are blaming Europe for doing little, while EU citizens are blaming Europe for doing too much for the economic migrants, spending millions of Euros to rescue them from their sucidal mission on the sea, and offering them refugee status. Most of them believe this act alone is a motivation for the refugees and their smugglers.
marylandcakes: These people are desperate. The people I blame for this humanitarian crisis is the Western world and our corrupt government. All these people want is just a life with the basics. It takes a desperate person to embark on such a journey.
I can understand if you partly blame our corrupt government but not quite sure why blaming the Western world. Kindly expantiate.
Abroad own there is hope atleast. Naija can be hopeless oo
I have seen pple born , raised and died in abject porverty.
There were hopes for these ones, until they reached "abroad" and realised that it was not always greener "abroad". Most wished they never travelled "abroad".
Gbemishile1: The religion of Islam different from other religion.an atheist can desecrate ur own religion as u like.its not surprising as even those who are supposed to guard against such utter arrant nonsense. A sex addicted pastor can come out to tell d whole congregation that the mother of a prophet was a LovePeddler.ur pastors tell u to drink poison while telling u its clean and d foolish congregations believe..our religion is not based on human ideas but by the law of the Quran. U do not desecrate the religion and go Scot free.its as simple as ABC
It's a shame this is coming from someone (Gbemi) who is supposed to be "Omo'luwabi".
BedLam: You are right! Some sort of decency you can't see in Nigeria. Imagine a Safari park in the middle of the City! That's why their tourism is booming. Nairobi Airport is more than 3 times bigger than MMIA. So much life is here.
That airport was constructed in the early sixties (1963 precisely, if my memory serves me right) and improved upon over time.
You better use your N400,000 to do buying and selling here in Nigeria than wasting it. You're too naive, you want to stay illegally in Kenya, I pity you.
BedLam: My deductions...Nairobi has more Malls than the whole of Nigeria. I kid you not!
At a point, you'd think this is India because there are a lot of Indians, for the fact that they have "BANK OF INDIA" here should tell you a lot.
The best night clubs are the ones where Nigerian songs dominate.
Every Nigerian is often seen as a rich man or woman.
Most of those Indians are Kenyans by birth and speak Swahili fluently.
Nigerians are perceived to be rich by most black Africans, as a matter of fact the perception is not misplaced. Nigerians are poor because of bad governance which is encouraged by our collective silence of conspiracy. Rather than demand for accountability from our corrupt leaders, we would rather hail them and be satisfied with the crumbs from their tables. Shame!
Many made their money in Nigeria and many who travel abroad are busy repatriating their money to invest in Nigeria, me for example.
People ran away from Nigeria not because Nigeria is bad but because of good infrastructure and employment opportunities, and good paying jobs.
Example . In South Africa, a common primary school teacher earns R15000 (N285000) per month. Now compare it with the peanut Nigerian primary school teachers are receiving.
Direct conversion of currencies could be very misleading, without looking at the relativity. That money is a poor salary for a foreigner with family, working and living in South Africa.
bjhaid: Not holidays alone dude, Also coming dere to further education and settle down.
Even when Obama was the President of USA he didn't ship in Kenyans en-mass to US. Immigration laws are strict in North America and Europe and can't be bent by your relations.
Seanjay: There is no point doing this with you cause if you read my first comment on here you will see that i was only saying my own experience with people in diaspora, i wasnt complaining about her not helping cause i know when human being promised it zero chance they will do what they say , am only offering my plight and experience with the Ops topic and i never sound like she owe me the favor , it just like you are travelling to lagos where you dont have so many relatives but one and youve not been in lagos before, but that one relative who had been in lagos for so many years and knows a lot about lagos and she offer her help since you dont know much about how to go about lagos and you are inexperience, So now the question is would you rather go on your own with the processing even with the risk of been dupe or scam, where you know nothing about or stay with that your relative advice and instruction at least for the main time till you understand the system of lagos and be sure you can get by everyday there? and i didnt ditched my plans for her i was only waiting for her instructions and over things since she knows better than me and have been there several times but you know the spirit with money once if you dont use it for what you intend to use it for immediately then you will definitely spend it, thats where you are mistaken me, i was only trusting her judgement on the processing cause she knows better..
You're still missing the point. Your waiting for "her instruction" could imply that you didn't really have any plan of yours. Spending your "idle money" any how does not show that you have the discipline to handle your finances in a "credit society" where people are enticed with credit cards. Why not put the money in an interest yielding account in a commercial bank?
