You can go ahead and quote all my comments here on Nairaland. I am sure that you have seen that I am a sharp shooter even if you were my friend. I am being consistent and that is what being true to yourself means. If you respect your religious freedom you wouldn't make a conclusive comment of that sort about other religious sects (the JW). If you respect religious freedom you would have understood that the only way to understand the doctrines of others is by learning which you declined for 30 years. You think you know much about them to draw such a conclusive remark? Well, it doesn't seem so. Your stupidity became clear when you asked one of them here on Nairaland to explain why they do not pray? You are not a child, Sir! You want your religious right to be respected and you have clearly judged another religious sect because they decline your request. You have no respect for their own doctrines (maybe not to pray with strangers or whatever). It is a shame Did you request for prayer when you asked that question? I do not think the JW would force you to listen. If you do not want to listen, it is your choice. So, why making that so pronounced as if you are being deprived prayers or the gospel you declined to hear?
Na wa for Nigerians o.
Silence is the best answer for people like you.

There is absolutely no instruction or teaching of the Jehovah's witnesses that forbids them from praying when they come to your house. I wouldn't know what environment you were in when they called St your place.
But if I happen to meet you on the street and you ask me to pray with you before preaching I will likely tell you why it won't be possible and I will most likely schedule an appointment with you so as to meet in a dignify in place and not only discuss with you, but also pray with you.
Hmmnnn. No further comments.

You are seriously funny. People come to your house and you drive them away by asking them to pray and knowing that they will decline your request. for 30 years you have done this and not a day has it occurred to you to ask them why they do not pray when they visit you. Now, you approached a JW online and asked him to explain to you why they do not pray. Shouldn't you ask for prayers before he explains to you? or, does your "let us pray" antic exclude the internet? I like to give people fair chances in life and I hate oppression. I always love to stand by the oppressed.
If I were a JW, I wouldn't reply your question. It is absolute stupidity. You have already drawn to a conclusion by saying that they are only interested in selling journals. I have a friend who is a JW and he has never sold a journal to me. I might not agree with him 100% but I can never make a statement like yours on a forum.
If asking a visitor in my house to pray with me would drive them out of my house, then I am better off without such guests. I don't need friends that can't pray with me. Which is easier to do? Prayer with someone you want to win to your side or walk away?

weedtheweeds:
I do not blame the JW cos every one of them willingly accepts their beliefs. You cannot force someone to live by your standard because you think it is right. There is religious freedom and you must let people enjoy theirs. There are monks who light themselves up and they are celebrated, there are churches that do not take medicines and no one says a thing. Some people will never have a surgery even if it will save their lives, some will never accept to be injected even if they have to die for it. Are you constructively arguing when you are ripping people off their right to religion? Think again, bro.
As far as your beliefs do not hurt me and the world, it is fine by me. You cannot dictate how people live and what they should believe. My cousin got a serious disease from a blood transfusion, so that is not the best option either. I hate this rigid way Nigerians decide issues as if they are the best thinkers. Try to do some research before you assume you are so knowledgeable.
You appear to be speaking from two sides of your mouth.
So I should not enjoy my religious freedom because JW members want to preach to me. In my house, it's prayer first.

Oga, this is a blatant lie. I am not JW but I studied with them all through my childhood. I don't regret doing that because it gave me a wider understanding of Christianity. There are some issues I still don't agree with however I just must admit that all these petty issues like what u just mentioned are big lies. People are looking for a reason to hate them so when stories like this are out, most will just accept it without trying to confirm its authenticity.

Chai! U Sabi lie well well oooo. My Mum n 2 Sisters re witness and they pray consistently. Before the leave the kingdom hall from 9 am to 12 noon, they study d Bible, share testimonies of their encounter while preaching so that others will learn and pray before leaving.
When they're back by 12noon another prayer is offered, people going for return visit will stay back n those who ain't going leave. Return visit are for those who accepted any of their brochures and are willy to study them with their help. Before such studies commences, they always pray with their Bible scholar.

Pls learn to bridle ur tongue, especially when it comes to religion, u don't have any right 2 judge or criticize any doctrine. If u feel ur Doctrine is d best n d word Of God is being preached to ur understanding, pls remain n leave others alone. If I may ask, which denomination is truly worshipping God n is divinely approved by God? Before u answer think well cos no one is perfect, we're still struggling to work our ways towards perfection... God is the perfect Judge on that great day when He will sit on the Throne to judge u n I...... May God open ur eyes of understanding n may have an unforgettable encounter with him,in Jesus Name.. .. AMEN!!!
You did not address the issue raised and it is disrespectful to call someone's life experience, a lie.

unitysheart:
1. We don't sell journals. All the journals are free. Contributing for the journal is voluntary.
2. We pray and we pray with people we meet. The circumstances may only warrant not praying in every places. The only way to talk to God is by means of prayer. If we don't pray then who do we serve?
Hmmnn circumstances warranting not praying in every places, so what are these circumstances?

If you come to my house and I requested we should pray before our discussion and you think my house is "every place" which is easier to do? Pray with me or walk out? Each time this happens, your members would prefer walking out. I just don't get it.

It is disrespectful to call someone's experience a lie. The issue I raised is that "the JW members that came to my house refused to pray with me when I requested, on many occasions". You have not said you prayed with them when you met with them, so how have you disproved the "lie"?

They love you. And unfortunately they won't leave you that easily. They are not sorry if you are annoyed. They are only following a command of Jesus Christ.

In Jeremiah's time, people hated him because he was preaching an unpopular message. Same as JW today, their message is unpopular and so you hate them. We are not part of this world, if we are, the world will live its own, but we are not, that is why you hate us.
My view, based on interactions with JW members is that, they are only interested in selling their journals and books to the public not preaching. I could be wrong but that is my perception.

In one of my early encounters with JW members three decades ago, I suggested that we should start our discussion with prayer, but they declined and left for no reason at all. Since that time when they come to my house to preach, I would welcome them warmly and insist that we should start with an opening prayer. They would rather leave than agree to pray with me.

I guess you're a member, what are the reasons JW members don't oblige to pray with others?
or
Is it that JW members don't pray at all?

But ICAN is not recognized outside Nigeria
ICAN is internationally recognised, being a member body of the International Federation of Accountants.

https://www.ifac.org/about-ifac/membership/member-organizations-and-country-profiles?letter=N#members

Regulation of accountancy practice varies from country to country. ACCA holders cannot practice in Nigeria without being granted that privilege by a recognized accountancy body in Nigeria. In some countries, some professional accountancy bodies grant full exemption to ICAN members.

ICAN members with public sector experience are granted full exemption by CIPFA (UK).

Opinionated:
It is generally believed that Nigeria’s education system currently thrives on past glory and that the ‘good ol’ days’ are light years behind. While this belief may not be totally out of place it could be refreshing to know that things have not always been this bad. In spite of the steady but certain decline, some of the older institutions still enjoy the benefits of the reputation they have earned over time and are still held in high esteem till date.

The list below is a profile of seven of Nigeria’s most popular and prominent public secondary schools as a means of remembering the good old days. The schools are mentioned in no particular order and the list should not be taken as a ‘best of schools’ list.

Happy reading…

CMS Grammar School (CMS)

The CMS holds the undisputed record of being the oldest secondary school in Nigeria. It was started in 1859 by Babington MacAulay, with financial backing from the CMS Training Institute, Islington, UK. Babington was a Nigerian picked from the Fourah Bay College and sponsored to England to train as an Anglican Priest. After his return, he proposed successfully to Henry Townsend, the Superintending Anglican Missionary at that time, to start a high school in Lagos instead of being transferred to join one in Sierra Leone. In 1859, Babington started the CMS Grammar School with 6 students and four rooms at ‘Cotton House’ on Broad Street. He served as principal until his death in 1879. CMS is today located in Bariga, a suburb of Lagos.

Among CMS’s notable alumni are, Herbert Macaulay (son to the founder), Odumegwu Ojukwu (later transferred to Kings College), Otunba TOS Benson, Ernest Shonekan, Akintola Williams (distinguished chartered accountant) and brother, Frederick Rotimi Alade (FRA) Williams (Legal luminary), Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti (Yes, Fela’s Father), Musicians Dare Art Alade and the ‘Gongo Aso’ master, ‘Nice’

Christianity EtcRe: Stephanie Otobo Charged With Blackmail Over Apostle Suleman's Sex Scandal by cosade(m): 10:25am On Mar 21, 2017
RosaConsidine:
Interesting.....she was charged with blackmail, conspiracy and intent to steal. If she was lying, then she would have been sued for (and charged with) libel and defamation of character.

What this suit tells me is that the pastor's lawyers are saying "fine, she's telling the truth. All those things did happen but she should not have used that fact to try to blackmail the pastor". Blackmail and libel are two different crimes. Libel means all her accusations are completely false. Blackmail means she's very likely telling the truth but she's trying to use it to extort money or something else from the pastor. I was expecting her to be charged with libel/defamation of character not blackmail.

This gets more interesting by the day.
You're absolutely right.
Christianity EtcRe: Apostle Suleman Gives $2,000 To Ghanaian Student Who Sowed Seed With House Rent by cosade(m): 4:44pm On Mar 20, 2017
stephenduru:
Comfort is a student of Jaiyee University Ghana, she is in her 3rd semester. She lost her mum while father merchants in alcohol.

When The Oracle of God called her out by prophecy, it was greeted with so much salutations as she is widely known. She is a fervent christian and devoted member of the OFM Ghana headquarter church in Accra.

All these were and 'maybe' known by her friends and fellow members, except for the next few issues.

Sometime ago as revealed by God she gave 1000 Ghana cedis to the church as a seed which was supposed to be her house rent resulting in her sleeping inside the church for months.

This gladdened the heart of the Man of God who declared that her time has come to Comfort.Comfort could not hold her tears hearing her secret pains being openly spoken about by the Prophet of God.

The servant of God in his usual self announced to help her settle all her fees as tuition and accommodation which summed up in thousands of Ghana cedis.

At the end, the Man of God gave her 2,000 US dollars through his wife, Dr. Lizzy Johnson Suleman.

FamilyRe: Man Died After Wife Dumped Him, Eloped With Lover Abroad by cosade(m): 2:33pm On Mar 20, 2017

............
Sources close to the troubled family told P.M.EXPRESS that before Chinelo married, she has dated Cele who was already married and have kids before he travelled abroad.

After many years abroad, Cele returned to Nigeria and searched for Chinelo, who was already married to Ogum.

The source said he successfully convinced Chinelo to dump her husband and their three children, and followed him abroad to start a new life.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that with the support of Chinelo’s mother, she dumped Ogum and abandoned their children and followed Cele to Pakistan where they, at present live as husband and wife.

The whole incident broke late Ogum’s heart which resulted to sickness and then his death.

However, like a law of Karma, another source told P.M.EXPRESS that Chinelo, who is already pregnant for Cele in their new abode in Pakistan, may be going through some emotional trouble as his new husband, Cele, is now in prison custody for alleged drug-related offences.

Pakistan?

Abroad!

Poverty and ignorance are diseases.

Nothing would make me go to this kind of 'abroad'.
