I'm assuming you're in America. People will discriminate against your children based on their address (friend's parents, applications, friends, etc).

Nicer areas have better schools with more resources, but more important is there's usually less bad kids distracting your kids. Now, I'm not saying it's always like this because your kid can be turned sellout by being around whites or get racially abused, even teachers in these "good" schools may abuse your child. In the other schools, however, the quality of education could be worse combined with violent kids who don't care about education, with parents who don't care about education. Do your research.

Quality of neighborhood life is worth consideration. What do you value? Do you want convenience, peace and quiet, and nice scenery? Do you want to know your neighbors and feel connected to them? Do you like a village sort of life with lots of land? Do you need that? Do you prefer the energy of a city? What about your kids? Do you think the pace, access, and diversity of a city is more enriching than a town? Consider it and do your research.

Remember that the cost of a house isn't just building it or purchase price, at least not in America. You have insurance, taxes, maintenance -- and regular replacements dictated by law. You have rising energy costs. It feels good to say your house is paid for, but unless you're a landlord, that only means so much. There's lots of old men and women in homes that are falling apart and they can't afford to fix them. You want to build one, but do you know anything about that? What if the contractor rips you off or does something you don't notice until a few years later. Look before you leap.

Being in "rich" company can pay off. A good network is very valuable. But it's one thing to connect with people in school or through interests. It's another to be the sort of black man/woman that sacrifices dignity for connections. Is that really what you want? Do you want to teach your children that?

You have a lot of options. Don't feel like you have to do one or the other. That's just not true. Whatever decision you make, I hope you're happy.

America is America's problem, not just Trump. Trump couldn't exist if the US wasn't a cesspool. Innocent black men are targeted by police regardless of who's in office. The socioeconomic oppression has reached a place where people can no longer be pacified by trinkets and manipulated by lies. Things have to change. There needs to be sweeping, radical reform, accountability, and a massive purge of the parasitic elements ruining what makes America so desired and emulated. I know this is unlikely, but some change will happen.

Regardless, I hope more black Americans seriously mobilize economically, domestically and abroad. Self-contained communities, and community building in Africa. Make it happen. I'm doing my part, and enjoying it.

There are some wonderful, ethereal places in Africa. I want every black person in the diaspora to really get to know their home and where they come from. It's so beautiful.

It's not about getting an amazing job as soon as the ink dries on your credential. It's about what you learn and how that contributes to your overall learning and development as a man/woman, worker, family member, community member, and citizen.

Your education is one aspect of what will prepare you for whatever you do in life. Experience, training, and self-study are also part of that.

University is never a waste of your time.

That said, if your primary goal is making money, choose medicine/medical profession, law, or engineering.

The opportunity to start a business doesn't disappear because you're in school. It just means you're better prepared to do that after.

Sometimes that almost happens by accident because someone just shows up at the right time, with the right idea, and gets an opportunity.

So it's possible to be that rich without any shady activity.

Some people also work very hard their whole life and sacrifice a lot to achieve that. These are people working 20-hour days, and willing to endure conditions and lifestyles that most refuse. They do it because they know it will pay off, and they want to leave the next generation massive wealth. They want a legacy too, and to create something for a community.
