PoliticsRe: Subsidy Protest Was Staged - Jonathan by CrazyMan(m): 3:01pm On Sep 19, 2012
Mr. President should balance his accusation of stagemanaged fuel subsidy protest with an explanation of the suckerpunch of New Year's Day fuel subsidy removal, while Ngozi was telling the world that the removal would take effect on April 1st.

Governance is not a covert operation. The citizen must be sensitized and informed of policies that will impact their lives so drastically: 144 increase in price should not have been slapped on Nigerians without consideration.

Christianity EtcRe: Is This Proof That Jesus Had A Wife ?? by CrazyMan(m): 9:11am On Sep 19, 2012
purplekayc: A recently uncovered fragment of ancient papyrus makes the explosive suggestion that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were man and wife, researchers say.

The 8cm by 4cm fragment supports an undercurrent in Christian thought that undermines centuries of Church dogma by suggesting the Christian Messiah was not celibate.

The centre of the fragment contains the bombshell phrase where Jesus, speaking to his disciples, says 'my wife', which researchers believe refers to Magdalene.

Did the recent uncovered theory tell us whether they had any children?

All this man made stories...I don't care about them anymore. I love my God, and I believe in him. So they can write whatever the feel like writing...it won't make me change my faith.

sexkillz: Anyway, this is not even an issue. That we have moderators in the first place is affirming the fact that humans must break simple rules. Even if it is to thier own good. Again, the worst mistake anyone can do is to try and please everyone.

Very rude response if you ask me...as a mod you musn't please everyone, rather you must work hard to earn their respect...cos once you have the people's respect, the issue of pleasing them becomes a past tense because they would respect you.

My favorite mod is jesoul (religion section) she's so understanding and very polite, that's why we all respect her. She constantly caution you and apologies before locking a thread (or duplicate) you created.

You can never see any member of the religion section calling her names.

She earned her respect and I cherish her for that.

sexkillz: No one gets banned for nothing. If you are banned, it just points to the obvious truth that you have broken a simple law, and no one will actually own up and say he was wrong. . .
True...but before you hit on the ban button, would it hurt so bad if you issue out a warning to the member in question?

Seeing the fact that you called it a simple law, don't you think you should adopt the tolerance word a bit on the issue?

Must every cases result in a ban?

sexkillz: Did someone ask moderators to stop participating in discussions? That must be the Nairaland joke of the year. What kind of inferiority complex ridden joke is that? If you are losing an argument take it in good faith. Don't expect to insult another member and not get banned, simply because he is a mod.

I would agree with you here...moderators should be allowed to comment.

sexkillz: This thread is baseless. The OP has a record of rule breaking and he cannot deny it. We are getting rid of tribal insults and comments, and i can see that it is making the guilty ones uncomfortable. Well, expect more of that. A ban on a user is the only option we have to maintain order, and we will sure use it to its maximum. The bannings will continue until the affected users learn to behave themselves.

Ok...but one question.

Don't you know that a message of caution to erring members would be more respectable than banning them. If you ask me, I'd say banning is rude. In as much as mods deserve respect, members also deserve respect as well.

Banning someone because you fee he's a troll would reduce your reputation on the forum. But sending out warnings or hiding provoking threads would be a better judgment.

That you're given a gun doesn't mean you must shoot every offender. There are times when you have to calm down and listen to the people.

sexkillz:
Not everyone gets banned. That goes to tell you that those who get banned must have done something wrong. .

This is where I'll have to disagree with you. If you say everyone who gets banned must have done something wrong, how would you explain a ban from your spam detector...I was banned for starting a topic today by your spam detector, few an hours later, I saw the topic on the home page.

If what I did was wrong, they why was the topic moved to the home page? Can you possibly say I broke any rules? Or do you still maintain your stands that all banned members committed one offense or the other?

PoliticsRe: NAIRALAND MODERATORS: Please List The Mods You Dont Like And Why.. by CrazyMan(m): 8:54pm On Sep 18, 2012
First, I must commend the mods for their jobs so far...Its not an easy task to keep tabs on people, most especially people who would go lengths to provoke the animal in you. So I believe they definitely deserve some credit.

On the issue of unnecessary bans, they (the mods) should understand that nairaland is a cyber forum...therefore issuing bans based on personal and emotional reasons clearly exposes their immaturity and lack of professionalism.

During the old days, seun could be likened to a military dictator...though Nairaland wasn't as populated as it is now, practically every out spoken member served a ban (myself inclusive). But with time he changed. He was transformed, he understood the meaning of "tolerance" .

Finally, I would urge them (the mod) to learn from seun's transformation. They should learn how to tolerate people, because people would keep offending you. They should also learn to make proper use of their judgment senses before issuing out a ban. Bans should be issued out when you (the mod) must have at least giving the offender an obvious warning which should be visible to members as a witness should any case erupts.

If after all that, the member remains abrasive, then it would be ok to give out judgment (ban). I believe that if the mods employ this strategy, nairaland would be more conducive for members. And the respect which members would have for their mods would be very high.

Thanks.

belovedaja: Atiku confessed today during leadership conference award 2012 aired live on AIT that he opposed ekwueme in the 1994/95 constitutional conference because he(alex ekwueme) is a biafran/igbo. Just hope his other kinsmen will do the same so that nigeria can move forward. Is this fair to oppose an idea that will move us forward simply because of a person tribe. This is also the chief reason why ekwueme lost the pdp primaries in jos. Atiku should not use this 'sentiment' to get ibo vote in 2015 because he will fail.
That clown has an alterior motive...if he thinks he can get we Igbos support come 2015 with this cheap confession, then he I'd suggest that he awakes from his slumber and face the real world.
IslamRe: Why Do They Hate Prophet Mohammed? by CrazyMan(m): 6:03pm On Sep 18, 2012
Chongaiman: By Syed Zubair Ahmad,

Those who support unchecked freedom of expression and insult or abuse in the name of freedom of speech should be treated in kind. They should be asked: If someone tells you ‘your mother was a prostitue and your father was a love-vendor’ how would you react? I am sure not even the most polite person on this planet will respond by saying: ‘Sir, please don’t say to me like this, it’s very impolite and indecent to say like this because I belong to a very respected family, so I would request you very humbly to avoid such language for me otherwise I will report this to police or take this matter to court and sue against you’. Rather, being decent and a well behaved person he may never abuse in response to the abusive language, but he will indeed slap the abuser on his face.
Are you trying to liken the islamic god to an earthly parent?

If you insult my parents, I have every right to fight for them. But if you insult my God...my God is a supreme being therefore, he's the one who should do the fighting not me,

Chongaiman: Muslims never insulted Jesus, Moses or Ram in the past,
Liars...then who were the ones that publicly burnt the bible in Egypt? Would you deny that they weren't muslims...

Chongaiman: Let Jyllands-Posten publish thousands of cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist, I can assure you that not a single Muslim from one billion population will ever make a single cartoon ridiculing Jesus
The increasing number of his followers you muslims kill and how little you value lives of people with different beliefs, are worse than ridiculing him.

Chongaiman: Because Muslims believe that Moses and Jesus were the prophets and messengers of God, and maybe some Hindu ‘gods’ were actually prophets, so they give the same respect to them like the prophet Muhammad
If you guys actually believe that, then how do you explain all the violence in the world?

Why do you see christians as infidels?

Why do you hate us so much?

Chongaiman: Muslims all over the world believe that Torah, Bible and Vedas all are divine scriptures so they respect all holy scriptures, but they follow only Holy Quran because it’s only divine book which is available in its original form undoubtedly.
Rubbish...they why did a muslim leader set the bible ablaze? If indeed you guys believe its a divine book, don't you think that imman ought to be arrested? Why didn't any of you muslim question him? You claim to respect the bible, yet you congratulate someone who sets it ablaze.

Pathetic.

Chongaiman: Mindless violence in the name of protests There are black sheep in every religion. There are mindless silly followers of every religion. The killing of ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in the Libyan city of Benghazi is as mindless and condemnable as the blasphemous film “The innocence of Muslims’ and its maker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.
Then permit me to say that all muslims are black sheep...because there were violent protests in practically every muslim country in the world.

Chongaiman: They have distorted their own religion in a way that now Christians make films depicting Virgin Marry (pbuh) as LovePeddler and Jesus (pbuh) as a gay (God forbid) and the whole Christian world enjoy such things in the name of freedom of expression shamefully. But Muslims can’t tolerate this at any cost, because they respect Prophet more than their life and this is the feeling of Muslims which Christian world fails to understand. They hate Prophet Muhammad because they do not respect Prophets Moses and Jesus. They hate Quran because they don’t have original Bible and Torah.
Any employee that can't survive under stress and pressure would find himself tossed out through the window by his boss.

In christianity, believers of old and even now have experienced the strongest trials of their faith.

Most of them have been massacred by you guys (muslims), they have been tortured, butchered and yet the sill cling to their faith.

We have had atheist tell the whole world how the bible is a big lie and how Jesus never existed...so much blasphemy about the bible,

Yet we're still in the race...infact such theories makes us stronger.

Now if I many ask, how many cases of persecution against muslims do we have? How many athiest attack islam?

You're here ranting over a movie and telling the world how you can't tolerate insults from christians...when you're the ones insulting us and making life miserable for us.

Chongaiman: There are two types of people in the Muslim world too. There are those who killed innocent American diplomats in Benghazi in response to the blasphemous film, who had nothing to do with the idiotic film. There are others who started distributing books about the life of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It’s said "Problems are opportunities in disguise". The problem created by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula could be the best opportunity to enlighten people with the life and character of the last Prophet of God Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Sadly 99.9% of you guys fall into the first category...hence the continuous killing as a result of unexplained and unintentional provocation.

Chongaiman: In Islam debate and dissuasion are always welcome, healthy criticism is always entertained. Thousands of books have been written by orientalists criticising many teachings of Islam but there were no protests by Muslims. But they are not ready to accept abusive language about the Prophet with ill intention. Those who want war between religions and civilizations must be brought to justice otherwise the entire humanity will become vulnerable to their assault one day.
Islamic debates have never been welcomed...you guys flare up and go violent whenever you're asked provoking questions about your origin. So don't go there.

mkmyers45: 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

What saying? all his sayings?
All his sayings refers to his teachings... Matthew 5:1, was when he began the teachings of a true christian. So take your time to read chapters 5,6 and 7 of matthew and I'm sure it would be much clearer to you.

mkmyers45: Is inspired by God not scripture? How was the collection made? who made it?
mkmyers45: Ok...How were news books accepted into the bible since it was over time? How were they verified to be truly God inspired?
The bible says clearly that its books are all inspired by God...

2 Timothy 3:16.  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

mkmyers45: I Thes 5:21

Test everything. Hold on to the good.
That passage never said we should verify the authentication of the bible...it said prove all things, quench not the spirit, abstain from all appearance of evil, it has nothing to do with verifying the bible.

This theory is therefore unacceptable.
PoliticsGEJ To Strip Questionable Characters Of National Awards by CrazyMan(op): 1:37pm On Sep 18, 2012
The President also asks the awards committee to widen the scope of search for worthy candidates

President Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, said his administration will strip people of “questionable credibility” of any national honours bestowed on them.

Speaking at the 2012 National Honours Award Investiture, held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, Jonathan said he had directed the National Honours Award Committee (NHAC) to compile the list of such people.

“We are convinced that the National Honours Award is a very important part of the symbols of the country’s values and pride,” he said. “Whilst government is always pleased to admit deserving persons into the ranks of those honoured by Nigeria, all holders must not fall short of our collective expectations. The dignity, honour and respect of the National Honours must never be tarnished.

In light of the foregoing, I have directed that the National Honours Committee compile a list of persons conferred with the National Honours but that their current credibility is questionable. If they are found wanting, our prestigious Honours will be withdrawn. This is essential in ensuring that holders of National Honours are truly worthy representations of our nation, chains of values and honour, and especially are patriotic Nigerians or real friends of our dear land.’’

Jonathan also directed the award committee to expand the scope of the search for recipients to include all strata of the society. He noted that the total of 4430 recipients of categories of the award since inception in 1963 was not enough, adding that many more Nigerians deserved the recognition.

Speaking on the recipients, Jonathan said they cut across far and wide and had distinguished themselves as icons and examples to all. He singled out Muhammad Zakari, a senior information officer on in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation for his honesty.

Zakari, who was decorated with the Members of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) medal, was honoured for returning a N6 million payment made to him in error in November 2011.

Mike Adenuga, the CEO of Globacom, was decorated with the highest honour among all the recipients; Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

“He worked hard to establish Globacom as an international communication company which provides means of livelihood to over 100,000 Nigerians,” said Jonathan. “Today, across Ghana and Benin Republic, he has built a formidable brand and is expanding footholds in Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal.’’

A total of 155 recipients were decorated with six of the eight statutorily recognized categories of honours.

The National Honours Award was established by the National Honours Act No 5 of 1964 but took retrospective effect from October 1, 1963.

The Act empowers the President to honour deserving citizens who have contributed to the development and progress of the country in any field of human endeavour.

mkmyers45: So what can be said to be the will of the father from that verse? Its coded...
From the passage, verse 24-25 clearly explains the will of the father.

mkmyers45: How did the bible end up with 66 books
The Bible has nothing to hide...

The bible itself mentions various books, that did not end up in the collection of books which were viewed as inspired of God.

John 21:25  And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

The bible wants us to focus on the book we have and avoid asking questions about the ones that aren't there or should have been there.

mkmyers45: and why should we not verify when the bible asks us to?
Remember our terms and condition...number 4 states that YOU PROVIDE REFERENCES AND SOURCES THAT SUPPORT YOUR STATEMENTS. WHEN QUOTING SOMEONE ELSE, so I'll reserve further comment until you provide me the bible verse that says we should verify the authentication of the bible.

mkmyers45: Can you expanciate on the passage of the bible through generations?
From the biblical beginning of creation, God created the world...so the record of events that happened from Adam to Noah (when the earth was eventually destroyed) can be seen in Genesis 5.

Records from Noah to Abraham Genesis 11:10-31

Records from Abraham to Jesus can be seen in Matthew 1:1-16

Records of Esau (Edomites) Genesis 36...note I added it here because the bible didn't focus too much on Esau...but if go down to kings you would find out that the Edomites were mentioned...I believe that's why the bible kept his record.

Records of the adventures of the children of israel are detailed in the book of Numbers.

So that's how the bible was being passed on and on and on, until it finally got to us.
Christianity EtcRe: Truthislight - Come And Show Us The Truth - A Discussion by CrazyMan(m): 12:08pm On Sep 18, 2012
mkmyers45: Assumptions for the basis of argument:

Hence i begin with three questions that are beginning for definitions:

- Who is a true christian?
Allow me to add my own voice.

Now to the first questiom, I would refer you to scriptures.

Matthew 7:21-27.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Now according to the teachings of Jesus, that's the definition of a true christian.

mkmyers45: What is Scripture,
Scripture can be defined as the sacred writings of Christianity contained in the Bible.

mkmyers45: How do we verify scripture?
there's nothing to verify...if you believe it, you believe it...if you don't, then fine. The idea of verifying makes no sense to me.

mkmyers45: What is the difference between Scripture and the Bible?
They have the same meaning if you ask me.

mkmyers45: How did we get the Bible?
The bible is the collection of sacred writings of the Christian religion, comprising the Old and New Testaments...it has been passed down through thousands of generations before finally getting to us. So I believe that's how we got it.
