RomanceRe: Take Her To The Family Or Not? by CrazyMan(m): 12:28pm On Sep 23, 2012
candieangel12: Kay so after I got rejected by my ex for a 5th chance in a relationship, I decided to move on. Well as God may have it, I met a girl at the bar n we hit it off. Weve been 2geda 4 5 days now n I must say I rlly love this girl.
You meet a girl...and less than a week, you claim to be in love? Wake up sweety this is not love...you only found solace in her arms because you were rejected by your ex.

This is not love!!!

candieangel12: I dont think iv loved a man as much as I love my current girlfriend.
I disagree with you...emotions sometimes cloud our better judgment.

I bet you made the same statement when you met your ex.

candieangel12: Things hv gotten so serious btwn us dat it is alarming. She knows how 2 treat me n she knos how 2 deal wit my flaws n even d love makin is good.our love has grown very strong under a week.
How serious can things get in just five days...if you ask me, I'd say you're still strangers.

what you're experiencing is Infatuation not love...therefore I would suggest that cast you mind and thoughts away from her and focus more on how to live a responsible life...I.e getting married and settling down.

candieangel12: . Im glad my ex dint take me back because I wudnt hv met my babe now.
I'm sure when reality dawns on you - you would awake from your slumber.

She's a female just like you, so there's a possibility that other guys are desiring her taste.

Now what if after wasting your life on her, she turns around in the future and tells you she's getting married...how would you comprehend such statement? What would be your reaction?

candieangel12: U kno wat dey say abt a disappointment bein a blessin in disguise.
If you call this a blessing, then its very obvious that you're under a spell.

candieangel12: Anyways sha since things hv bcome so serious wit us I was wonderin if it is right 2 go home wit her in 2 weeks time n introduce her 2 my family?

May I add dat dis girl is my 1st girl friend so I dunno how my family will take this.
This would be the most foolish decision you'll ever take in your life.

This is because after they (your parents) are through listening to your pathetic story, they would rain insults on you, hate you for being who you are, try to change you finally recommend you to the nearest pastor for deliverance.

You would be seen as an out-law in the family and even the worst sinner in the family would consider himself much better than you.

candieangel12: Plus considerin im 28 n deyre disturbin me 2 bring a man home 2 marry but im scared dey mite not b receptive of me bringin home a woman instead. I feel like the sooner they kno iv fallen 4 a woman the better.
Then get married. But if you feel a man can't give you the kind satisfaction you need, then do what your heart tells you.

I given you my candid opinion on how I feel about the whole bisexual stuff...

But note that whatever decision you make now would have a positive or negative effect on your life in the near future.

Good luck.

Christianity EtcRe: Even If It's All Lies ..... Can It Be Bad? by CrazyMan(m): 8:35am On Sep 23, 2012
Omo Alata: When someone 'claims' to have been taken to hell and shown the torments of the people who died without Christ and pleads with us to repent so we don't end up there, they are usually villifed and mocked but my question is, "how harmful can it be?" They're only saying "change your ways"; "live a good life"; "give up fornication/adultery" etc etc. Even if their encounter was made-up i.e. fabricated, it will still make some people change their evil ways so it can't be all bad. Can it? Or what is bad about living a righteous life huh

If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand so why would evil try to destroy itself huh i.e. why would the devil make up a lie that would turn people to Christ?
In as much as I believe in God and strive daily to remain in the faith, I don't believe most of this hell fire stories.

Reason is that their definition of hell are always different from each other's definition.

My question is that if hell is one place why can't everyone's definition be the same? Why would Mr A tell me about a cell block, and Mr B would say its a river of fire...Mr C would tell you that people there are naked and chained...Mr D would say people walk about freely? Why can't the definitions just match?

I feel some of them tell these stories in order to make people give up their sinful lifestyle...others tell it for cheap popularity and recognition.

Johnny: Your girlfriend is very close to someone who can do anything to bring you down socially and politically. They have been colleaques though even before you came into the picture, and you asked her if they were going out,she said “no“....The thing is that you have limited powers over this lady because you don‘t pay her bills, and there are indications that you won‘t marry her.BUT she loves you so much and if you walk away from her life, she will be heart-broken and can even become harmful.
Matured advice please!!
If you're no longer in love with her, or you feel you've tolerated her enough, then its high time you call it quits.

Unless of course you plan to date her out of pity or you're scared of leaving her.

carefreewannabe: the term culture can be broadly defined as a distinct way of living of certain people(s) including their customs and beliefs, art, social organization etc. Americans have their way of living, even diverse ways of living (subcultures). they have their customs (e.g. thanksgiving day) and they have their believes (e.g. quite liberal economic system, in which each individual can attain the fullest acccording to their own capability = American Dream --> quite liberal economic system), they have art and great artists, in film literaure and painitng and they have a certain way of social organization, which again is quite liberal but very often based on a conservative view of the family unit.
Agreed

carefreewannabe: when the British entered Nigeria, some of them surely acknowledged a culture / different subcultures, others claimed the people were savages with no culture. Nigerian literature contains very good examples of how (some) British saw Africans.
I pointed that fact out...therefore I rest my case. cool
Christianity EtcRe: Was Jesus Christ's Death And Resurrection Really Necessary? by CrazyMan(m): 11:37pm On Sep 22, 2012
ajf: Thanks for the write up. But my point is,couldn't God find a better way to 'defeat' sin than letting his only son die? Since he's all powerful, if he says sin is defeated then sin should be defeated...
God did not specifically send Jesus to die...

John 3:16.  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Note there was no death is this passage... God sent his son to reconcile the world to himself. It indeed was a risky enterprise but the intention of his mission was not to die...see the passage below.

Mark 12:1-8. Jesus then began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. 2 At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully. 5 He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.

6 "He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, 'They will respect my son.'

7 "But the tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' 8 So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.

Now...Jesus death came as a sign of love. As a sign of love that the world has never seen before...he loved us so much that he was willing to die for us...

1 peter 2:20-25. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22 "He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth."

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." 25 For "you were like sheep going astray," but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

The cross is an invite to come and become a son and a daughter of God like the one they killed.

To also come to God’s family. And as an eternal sign. He rose Jesus from the death and gave him a name above all names...that at the name of Jesus, every kneel must bow and every tounge must confess that Jesus is lord.

Cheers!

It surprise me that Islam is the only religion that fight over irrelevant issues. I always wonder, Islam always talk of peace, if they keep preaching peace, why would you kill someone? why would a minister offer a bounty to kill someone? Does murder mean peace in their beliefs?

Islam is a peaceful religion'' this is their popular notion, it is such a shame that they don't live on what they claim they are.

Have you ever seen or heard that Christians attack any one simply because the person insulted Jesus? no, lets speak from the fact...

The fact is that Islam has been built or their foundation has been laid under violence and there is nothing they can do to change that even if they try to change some words and put ''Peace'' they train their youth with violence, everything about them is violence, all over the world Islam are known for their violence.

Can you Muslims defend this? didn't your prophet teach you Forgiveness? didn't he teach you that ''Thou shall not kill''? didn't he teach you Love and Compassion?

If Yes? why did you people keep provoking him by saying that you're killing for him?

I'm sure prophet Muhammed was not as wicked as you people who claim that you are following his Goodwill are...

Freaking Arabs.

Whatever arguments you come up with, one will fact would always remain true.

"A woman is a creature of comfort"

Therefore money would always remain an issue...once you meet or have the potential to meet her ideals of what life's supposed to be...she would be all yours.

If she has money or sources to money, you really don't need to worry. If you're both a broke-a.ss...well, she won't stick around you for too long. You can't blame her either... Would you hang around friends who are penniless, even if you do...it won't be for long.

So if you ask me, I'd say...love can't survive without money.
Christianity EtcRe: Was Jesus Christ's Death And Resurrection Really Necessary? by CrazyMan(m): 5:25pm On Sep 22, 2012
@Op I hope my little write up would be of help...

1) In the begining, sin entered the world through one man: "When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. " (Romans 5:12)

2) Sin results in death - we know this from the verse above, as well as the well known Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin in death."

3) Jesus was the one man by whom sin is overcome. Romans 5:18 -"Yes, Adam's one sin brought condemnation upon everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness makes all people right in God's sight and gives them life. "

4) Jesus had to die and be resurrected because sin is death, therefore His resurrection shows His victory over sin. Romans 6:6 says, "Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. "

Paul summarizes this in Romans 6:9-11, "We are sure of this because Christ rose from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. He died once to defeat sin, and now he lives for the glory of God. So you should consider yourselves dead to sin and able to live for the glory of God through Christ Jesus."

I hope I've been able to answer you question.

Christianity EtcRe: How Is Jesus Son Of David? by CrazyMan(m): 1:25am On Sep 22, 2012
Matthew 1:1-17.  This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

2 Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

3 Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron,
Hezron the father of Ram,

4 Ram the father of Amminadab,
Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
Nahshon the father of Salmon,

5 Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,
Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,
Obed the father of Jesse,

6 and Jesse the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,

7 Solomon the father of Rehoboam,
Rehoboam the father of Abijah,
Abijah the father of Asa,

8 Asa the father of Jehoshaphat,
Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram,
Jehoram the father of Uzziah,

9 Uzziah the father of Jotham,
Jotham the father of Ahaz,
Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,

10 Hezekiah the father of Manasseh,
Manasseh the father of Amon,
Amon the father of Josiah,

11 and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.

12 After the exile to Babylon:
Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel,
Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,

13 Zerubbabel the father of Abihud,
Abihud the father of Eliakim,
Eliakim the father of Azor,

14 Azor the father of Zadok,
Zadok the father of Akim,
Akim the father of Elihud,

15 Elihud the father of Eleazar,
Eleazar the father of Matthan,
Matthan the father of Jacob,

16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah.

17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.

Do you now understand that Jesus and David are from the same blood line...

PoliticsCPC, ACN, ANPP To Merge In 2014 —investigation by CrazyMan(op): 12:27am On Sep 22, 2012
The three leading opposition parties in the country have intensified talks among them with the aim of merging on or before 2014.

SATURDAY PUNCH investigations showed that the Action Congress of Nigeria, the Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples Party began the merger talks three months after the 2011 general elections.

The parties have agreed on the need to unite against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the 2015 elections.

The parties decided to begin the talks early in order to address the problems that stalled the process in the past.

It was learnt that the parties were determined to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline for the merger of political parties.

Under the 2011 Electoral Act, the commission cannot allow any merger of political parties less than 90 days to the general elections.

Section 84 (6) of the Act states, “Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (2) of this section, no merger of political parties received by the commission less than 90 days before any general election in the country shall be considered by the commission.”

Section 84 (2) of the Act states, “Political parties intending to merge shall each give to the commission 90 days notice of their intention to do so before a general election.”

Investigations showed that as part of efforts to beat the deadline, the parties have been holding a series of meetings across the country.

The meetings, it was gathered, were aimed at adopting a common name and mobilising support for the new party all over the country.

A top member of one of the parties said that they were aware of the antics of the PDP, which he alleged, scuttled such merger talks in the past through the moles it planted in the parties.

He allayed fears that the talks would not bear any good fruit because the parties might disagree over the sharing of political offices.

“What is uppermost in our minds is how to rescue the country from this misrule of the PDP. Nobody is talking about how to share political offices now,” he said.

The three parties, it was learnt, were keeping their agenda on the merger secret because of the fear that the ruling party would sabotage it.

The PDP had last month dismissed the merger talks among opposition political parties to form an alliance aimed at wresting power from it in the 2015 general elections, saying the talks would not bear any fruit.

The party’s spokesman, Chief Olisah Metuh, had in a statement said, “We hear of alliances and mergers every day. That is not new. Let us wait for 2015. Do you think Nigerians are fools? Do you think that Nigerians do not take notice of the character and tendency of individuals and political parties?

“The PDP is the only party that is committed to the continued existence of Nigeria and the welfare of its people.

“At the appropriate time, they will decide whether to entrust their great nation into the hands of regionalists, doomsday prophets and pro-anarchists or to the safe hands of the PDP. Basic common sense will prefer the latter.”

But the National Publicity Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Mr. Emma Eneukwu, in an interview with SATURDAY PUNCH, said the opposition parties were serious about the merger talks.

He said the ANPP was determined to ensure that the merging of the parties succeeded.

Eneukwu said the PDP was aware of the implications of the merger discussions and was initiating moves to scuttle the process.

The ANPP spokesman accused the PDP of planting moles constantly in the fold of the opposition to ensure that the talks were not successful.

According to him, the ANPP will ensure that anybody found to be involved with the PDP in conduct inimical to the ongoing discussions will be fished out and sanctioned in accordance with the stipulations of the party’s constitution on discipline.

Eneukwu was not forthcoming on the sensitive issue of the distribution of political offices among the parties involved, which is known to have caused the collapse of previous merger talks among the opposition parties in the country.

He explained that talks had not been concluded, but were rather ongoing as all the contentious issues would be painstakingly addressed and finalised.

He said, “We in the ANPP are very serious with our merger talks. You know that the PDP would not want us to have successful mergers; they wouldn’t want it to succeed.

“And that is why they have repeatedly planted people among us to scuttle the process, and that is also the reason why we are starting early.

“The PDP should be preparing to get out of governance because we are going to send them packing in 2015.

“I know how far we have gone in these talks; each time we talk of mergers, they sponsor people to destabilise the process.

“But if we detect any of our members in such an alliance with the PDP, of course, we shall subject the person to the position of the party’s constitution on discipline.

“We cannot predict the outcome of talks. Talks are discussions that are ongoing. That is, we are still talking.”

The CPC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, described the PDP as a dying party.

He said, “CPC’s alliance with its coalition partners is on course. It is a patriotic endeavour and that explains why the parties in the coalition are determined to make the alliance talks bear the desired fruit. There is the need to arrest the precipitous drift of the PDP.”

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and leader of the CPC, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, had in an interview with on online news medium, Premium Times, said the merger talks would be perfected.

He said the parties had similar ideologies that would enhance successful deliberations.

When our correspondent contacted Metuh on Friday, calls placed to his cell-phone indicated that it was switched off or in an area outside of network coverage.

Also, efforts made to speak with the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, were unsuccessful.

The PDP chairman did not answer his calls, neither did he respond to a text message sent to him to respond to the allegation by the opposition parties that the PDP was out to scuttle the ongoing merger talks among the main opposition parties.

Similarly, repeated calls placed to the cell-phone of the deputy spokesperson of the PDP, Mrs. Binta Masi-Garba, were not answered.

wiegraf: @crazy, while I symphatize, sort of, you're starting to sound like you endorse censorship, imo that is never a good thing. Some threads are started just to flame, true, and I'd recommend you simply ignore those. This one in particular was not. It has valid points that were never addressed (excepting some apocryphal stories). In fact the op was initially mocked by theists, though they were just playing around with him, actually seems they still are by ignoring him. But regardless, turn the tables around, imagine someone saying that xtian arguments must be approved by atheists before they can be made. Say my disdain for seeing quotes, imagine if I went around demanding there be no quoting in every thread. Think of a certain neighboring section.
If a thread offends you, prove it wrong, preferably with your deeds, then move on. Violating freedoms is wrong just about all the time (except maybe when direct harm is being incited, like mob violence being instigated). That's just my opinion though
I wasn't specifically referring to this thread...I was just speaking on a sad omen I've discovered here on Nairaland.
