@Mr. Risky, I will vote for the insurance sector to do a 100 % next year. Lets hear what Pumping 777 will have to say to this.
So you advice me to leave my Insurance stocks till next year? I have Crusader, International Energy, Mbenefit and Lasaco.

For example I bought Lasaco @ 1.80 and I was just planning to offload it next week but if “the voice in the wilderness” says Lasaco will hit double digit next year I better wait abi?

@CrazyT

Even as an adult you sometimes need to say "what the heck!" and splash out.

Birthday parties are some of the joys of our childhoods. The money spent in making them memorable is money very well invested in the happiness of our kids.

You should introduce your children to investing but in a gradual calculated manner but must not divert money normally spent on their day to day enjoyments of their childhoods!

Perhaps you should use windfalls e.g. unexpected money gifts or designated small sums from you on top of what they normally get.

Almost like religion "you can take the horse to the river but you cannot force it to drink". Those of your kids that will become keen investors will persist when they are out of your control others will escape from your tyranny of stock investing!

Goodluck.

Samstone4 cool cool cool cool
What a matured way you answer the question, thanks men!

You remind me of the popular adage that says “the words of our elders are words of wisdom”

Just as I earlier indicated, we just finished our meeting.
At first they both showed interest but as the meeting goes on Yemi (the youngest) lost interest because it’s too complicated and he doesn’t want to give his money to a stranger to keep.
But I will just keep on explaining to them with examples as majority of you here put it. DJ (the oldest) has agree that we should use part of their fire-works money to buy Aiico (PO) 50 euro each.

Thanks to all contributors on this topic, both for and against;

What is the difference in teaching them money finance and teaching stock.I think stock and money finance are one of the same, what is a stock if not money. To me you can try to simplify the stock purchase and trading into a nice story piece or use the character of their cartoon programes to narrate it.Sure they will not catch it at once it a countinus process, there are varoius examples you can use.

@ Pumping, SGN and Omoboy,

You all think am going too far but what you think of a 9 years old boy that kills in the name of Allah, or the Child soldier in Sierra Leone and so o on.
I think it's all about teaching your child what you know or believes and he or she will not depart from it.

I am not saying they should invest their pocket money; all I am saying is that they should try and save a dime from every dollar (Euro) they got and then learn how to invest the money.

@ All (especially parents)

Hi guys, I learnt from you all how important it is to teach your children about trading in stocks at an early age.

So I am planning to call my boys (11 and 8 years respectively) to a round table discussion today about stock market.
Can any one of you help a brother with tips on how to explain stock market to kids?

The idea just hit me now after calculating how much we spend for their birthday presents just last week (about 1200 Euro) The bithday parties (both at home and schools not included) so I was planning to use that as an example and show they what would have happen to the same money had it been it was invested in Capoil or any of the penny stocks.

Or am I going too farhuh

@ Wanaj0

I want to thank you for your advice on CAPOIL; I have sold 30% already meaning I take to your advice of getting my invested money and little profit.
Though it’s painful to still see that it has gained more than 100% (again) after I have sold the 30% but I still think it’s a good move.

The remaining 70% has gained about 800% altogether now, thank to you, if not for your advice I would have bailed out at around 250%

The 30% has been diverted to Intenegins @ 1.76, what’s your take on Intenergins?

Say the (postive) words and see my Intenergins stocks goes up  grin

Thanks for the nice write-up, how can I forget the benefits of your 2007 write-up?

I remember in May 2007 when I first read the 2007 write-up I ask questions and based on people’s advice (i.e. Easimoni, Frank, Wanaj0 etc) I was able to sell my very first stock on NSE at the right time (Afroil) and it gives me more than 2000% gain.

I really appreciate guys, Up to 2008!!!

Honorable members of the House,

i have been glued to this forum for the past 2 hours reading from the start. So many experts from all over the world on the Nigerian Stock market. Wish i had actually been in on this a lot earlier.

I would probably be in retirement by now.

Has anyone got an update on the Dangote Flour Mills offer? I subscribed for 20,000 units. The prospectus said the shares will be dispatched by 29th November. Any idea if it was oversubscribed?

I am also thinking of partaking in the bank PHB offer but not sure of the quantity to buy. Heard that if it is oversubscribed people who buy above a certain amount may get there money refunded. Your advise please.

Need to get out of this rat race of 9 -5 ASAP.
I thought Roughcut has answered this questions earlier? Read here ,

i remember we said something about Dangote Flour IPO being expensive because of the PE ratio we arrived at then and it was agreed it should not have been more than N10 but if the chinese whispers i'm hearing are true because there's a massive massive over-subscription then i think the price when the positions are resolved will beat the all-comers record on the NSE so the N15 IPO will look like peanuts in comparison but i think it will probably shadow Dangote sugar's price trajectory

As an aside, for those who bought the Union Diagnostic PP, I heard it was 100% over-subscribed.

What! 100% over-subscribed?

I can’t believe this, I don’t think I’ll ever be happy with my kid brother, can you believe that I downloaded the Union Diagnostic PP form from this thread, filled it and scanned it to my brother in Nigeria with the money. The funnies part of the whole story is that he was able to collect the money (western union) but said he could not print the scanned document any where in Surulere.
I called him almost everyday till the PP closed and till today he still claims that he can not print the form (jpeg doc)

About the money I send, that one has been used to pay for one thing or the other at LASU (his school)

My only hope now is at the secondary market, that’s if my broker will be able to get it.

BTW thanks to Wanaj0 and Easimoni's advice my Capoil has increased more than 530% now.
RomanceRe: Can Adultery Help My Marriage? by crazyT(m): 12:58am On Nov 25, 2007
Prikie:
I'm married and female and don't want to be judgemental. The truth is, being married is not much different from being in a ralationship. We have the same trials as single people and it is our ability to draw thw line that counts.

My advice to you, explain to your wife your situation. Tell her the effects of her refusal and be honest to tell her that you're human and truly love her but she's pushing you to do the unthinkable. Last I checked, pregnant women are at their horniest during pregnancy. Pregnancy does not stop you from enjoying that special moment with the one you love and doctors would always advice and encourage sex during pregnancy. This helps in widening the woman's cervix in preparation for delivery.

I can tell you love your wife. What I'll expect of my husband is honesty about his feelings. You try explaining to her, im sure afterwards she'll understand your situation.

Also, if you choose to have an extramarital affair, my advice is, make sure it is not some desperate chic looking to pin any man down- married or unmarried because I bet you you will live to regret it. Avoid affairs with people you stand a chance of running into regularly, the begining of the affair will be the begining of disaster. Rather go for someone who is mature and whom your chances of seeing or running into them is very slim probably because they are very busy with work or have serious relationships of their own. But remember, before you do anything, talk to your wife first. She could actually give you some if she truly understands.
This is one of the best responses I have read on this thread so far.

@ Prikie just keep it up, you are real!!!

@ Poster, if I were you I'll copy Prikie's response print it and read it everyday because that is the best answer for you.
TV/MoviesRe: Cost Of Making A Music Video? by crazyT(m): 1:31pm On Nov 21, 2007
saucekid:
@ roadblock
because of the expenses,HDV is ok but if he had what it takes,35 mm will do the trick
Shooting Nigerian video's on 35mm? Who are your target audience? The same peeps that watch Nigerian home movies right? That is what I call waste of money and raw materials.

The highest form of video making in Nigeria is still HDV, and it's not a must. The trick is not the camera but the one handling it. Give a HDV to an Owambe cameraman and an old Hi 8 to a pro; you'll be shocked seen how good Hi 8 could be used.

Back to the question, the cost of making a good music video depends on individual creative mind. It's starts from approximately 100k to as much as you want it. Just be creative that is what counts.
