TravelRe: On Nigerians And The 'must Travel Mentality' by cronsberg: 12:25am On Oct 01, 2014
Sanchez01: I understand for Nigeria but at least, show an ounce of respect by getting latest pictures of Nigeria, particularly Lagos. Your pictures are taken in Lagos but that was a long time ago. Rather than see 'molues' you'd likely end up seeing BRT buses; though are still few but 'Behind' and decent molue buses now.

Things are changing and so are times.
Hey mr man, not a single ounce of respect will be given alright? You want latest pics of lagos ba? Ok how about this. Its the major abatiores(slaughter house) in lagos state. Right there on the streets, right next to sewage lines and what not. i didn't want to post the pic before cuz it was disgusting but since you asked for it...And thats in Nigerias number 1 city, you can imaging what the remaining 34 states look like. On the markets, every single state in nigeria has their main market exactly like the pics i posted before. People only go the fancy malls to buy bread, snacks and what not, but do the main grocery in markets exactly like the pics i posted. From poisinous fly filled beef, to tomato, to onions, to sand filled rice....everything just displayed in the open with utter disregard for hygen.
And i did not even talk about bread being made with sweat dripping into the dough, butchers injuring themselves and allowing their blood mix with the meat, fish sellers selling rotten fish and all sorts of nonesense.

TravelRe: On Nigerians And The 'must Travel Mentality' by cronsberg: 7:53pm On Sep 30, 2014
Look at the utter failure called nigeria. This is how 90% of our markets, streets e.t.c are like. If you think i will stay here and die of high blood pressure then you are wrong. And to the original Op, yes i think its worth selling every goddam property you got to escape this crap. I no even fit shout joor. I have headaches literarily every week from thinking about the hopelessness of Nigeria. I mean look at the filthyness, unconduciveness, unhygenic nature of everything. mtsheeewww

PoliticsThe Concept Of "Home". 'overhyped? by cronsberg(op): 9:00pm On Sep 26, 2014
Many people have many different definitions of "home". Some say it is where you are born, others say it is where your family and friends are, many also say it is where your heart belongs or where you are most comfortable or simply where you feel at home. I tend to agree more with the "home is where your heart belongs(most comfortable)".
We Nigerians, more than any other people attach too much significance to what we call home. But why is it so? I guess because you feel attached to the place you are born in, feel attached because your family lives in that place, your friends and everything you know is from there, so you identify it as home. But here is why i think that concept is flawed. What if your are no longer comfortable at "home", what if you are no longer wanted/welcome at "home", what if you become an outcast at "home". Will it still be home?
Alternatively, what if your heart belongs to a different place, you feel more comfortable and welcome in that different place, you feel more attached to that place. Can it be home? i hope you are getting my drift.
The reason why i say home is where your heart belongs and not necessarily a particular geographical location is that every human being today is where they are because they identified home as where you are most comfortable at, not the location you were born.
Example:
1.The current people of indonesia and malaysia has their original home around the madagascar islands, but they found more comfort in the southeast asian islands and thus made it their home
2. 99% of white americans where originally europeans, but were persecuted and unwelcome, thus they found comfort in the new world and made it their home.
3. Majority of Argentinians, Chileans and most south americans were Spaniards and Portugese who made south america their home
4. Even us Nigerians, most of our ancestors were not originally from here, but they left their "home" and made new home for themselves somewhere else.
My point is that most of the geographical locations in this world got their populations by means of migrations and other people leaving their homes and making new ones somewhere different.
Another classic example is the Jews, they left the only "home" they knew and made europe, both north and south america their new home.

So with the examples above, if home is the place where you are most comfortable in, and not where you are born in, then why do we Nigerians and in extension other africans attach too much importance/emotions to where we are born? even though the places we are born are not the most comfortable of locations, sometimes we are even outcasts in the place we are born, sometimes the places we are born is downright unfit/inhosbitable for human settling either harsh weather, or harsh human wickedness. Why not make new homes for ourselves? in places we can be more comfortable and live more healthier just like our ancestors did?
Now i am not advocating for a mass exodus of humans to more suitable environments, but i am just trying to make a point that you don't have to be born and grow up and eventually die in a particular location. If the place you are born(home) doesn't do it for you anymore, or doesn't feel like home anymore, then its perfectly natural to make a new home for yourself in a more comfortable location as you deem fit. No law says you must remain where you are for eternity. God's earth is wide and open, free your mind and find your home.

Thats only my opinion anyway. Give your own opinions, do you agree? or not agree. give your reasons.

EducationRe: Egypt Air Wrongly Routed A Nigerian Student To Moldova by cronsberg: 6:58am On Sep 14, 2014
This is the fakest story i have ever read. From begining to the end, the whole story is DEFINATELY fake. For starters, there is nowhere in hell that any authority be it immigration, customs, or airport security, will tear your passport. Even if you are caught red handed smuggling drugs or with explosives, they definately won't rip your passport apart.
Secondly, there is no way you will go to an airline country office and specifically tell them Kiev but they book another destination for you. It has never happened. And then the Op noticed a different airport code but still went ahead with the journey? grin grin camman guys!!
Thirdly, you didn't eat for three days? Does that mean you are travelling with zero cash on you? Highly unlikely, if not what stops you from patronizing all the Mcdonalds, KFCs, Burger Kings, E.t.c that i know for sure exist inside both cairo and istanbul international airports?
Fourthly, So you heard the announcement like: This is the boarding announcement for Egypt air flight ------- for Moldova and you still went ahead to board the flight? The alternate scenario is that the announcement is for a flight to Kiev which magically terminated in Moldova(which is impossible) or else the whole airport would be in caos as every passenger would be complaining.
Fifthly, Airline cabin crew doesn't have the authority to detain anyone, So how come they detained you and even tore your passport to pieces?
Six, It is IMPOSSIBLE not to be served several dishes on an international flight. Sleeping passengers are woken up to choose their meal, unless you specifically tell them you don't want anything(after they wake you up), which is not likely because then hunger will kill you.

Look hear mehn, this is nothing but a cheap blackmail against egypt air that common sense will tell you is fake. I ain't saying Egypt air ain't bad though, the murraphukers once served me a vegetarian meal made up of only leaves while rest of the passenger were enjoying beef or fish or chicken. At another time, they refused to allow me exit the airport while i am on a 21 hour transit time at cairo international airport. I won't blame them for that though as everyone is required to have a transit visa before exiting the airport(i didn't have one), but they still gave us meal tickets and constantly brought us hot tea and were generally nice. That was back then, now the transit time in cairo is less than 3 hours for all destinations.
Well, now i prefer flying Emirates anyway not because other airlines are bad, but because everything about emirates is just world class

RomanceRe: Lies Guys Tells While Wooin by cronsberg: 12:04am On Sep 07, 2014
And since when do women not enjoy lies? The only sure way of not getting what you want from a woman is telling her the truth. Imaging this

Guy: oh you are not fat,
you're very sexy,
oh no i am in for the long term not looking for just a one night stand,
Baby i see a future with you, infact i see you as my future wife
Oh am not like the rest, i won't use and dump you
Oh totally, you can have many guys on the side, You're not cheating cuz you're an emotional being therefore its allowed for you, but i can't because i have you, am ready to commit to you alone

bla bla bla bla

Been there, done that. Women need to be lied to, bottom line. Guess what all those friendzoned guys, wussies, and magas did to end up in that situation? They opened up and told women the truth from their hearts.
And guess what all those players, jerks, e.t.c did to be getting what they want from women? They lie and lie and lie and amazingly it works

Chatters: Please don't mislead anyone with the information you pasted here. Wait times for student visas differs depending on country. It appears you didn't do your research well. Nigeria has a wait time of 4 months. Perhaps the information you got was for another country. Next time, do some intensive research before pasting information you know little or nothing about.
you are the one that should do further research. The wait time i pasted is genuine, go to visit visa wait time and see. The only mistake i made was not indicating that 34 days applies only to visit visa applications. I still stand my ground on the "you don't need any other document other than the one indicated on the document checklist". The document checklist is more than enough proof of your intents and genuineness. E.g, the checklist says you should present either bank statement, or bank drafts, or employment letter/pay slips, business registration and tax clearance (as proof of funds). some of the above plus marriage cert, land certs e.t.c as binding ties to your country. itinerary (return plane ticket, travel route and plan for visitors), Admission letter and tuition receipt for intending students e.t.c Point is, every document you need is listed in the checklist. Every extra document suggested by anyone else is just unnecessary baggage that won't help at all. The document checklist covers everything you need to help your visa application.

chichi89: 34 days in Nigeria? A week or two? For those that applied in Nigeria? *smh*
Yes. It depends on the visa category you are applying for though. Check the visa wait time at the lagos VAC under cic website
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by cronsberg:
Nigerians like making things difficult for themselves i swear. I just marvel at the comments of people in here. Everyone keeps asking what to do, how to do it, which documents to present, how to apply e.t.c e.t.c . The whole thing is very easy people. Just go to CIC website, take an eligibility test, a result will be displayed showing which documents to submit, how to submit it. Then you just gather those documents and proceed to the application proper. THATS ALL.
Forget what people tell you on NL, they make it seem like hell, they make you waste time looking for documents that the embassy didn't ask you to come with, they make you feel afraid of the whole process as if you're applying to enter heaven or something, whereas applying for a visa should be a fun and easy thing. To tell you how must people on NL don't even know the real visa application process themselves, a commenter was advising a naive individual that the visa waiting time is 2 months, when infact the wait times indicated on the CIC website(the authority involved) is max 34 days(mind you, you could even be given visa within a week or two), but people here make you so unnecessarily worried and afraid.

You want real visa application procedures and which documents to present? go to CIC.

Foreign AffairsRe: How US Media Would've Covered Ferguson If It had Happened In Another Country by cronsberg: 2:43am On Aug 19, 2014
This made me realize something. The western media always use certain terms in reporting from the rest of the world. The usage of those terms/words create a very subtle but effective image of a failed, miserable, gloomy, backward country in the mind of the listener. If this satirical article was a real life news reportting on the ferguson bruhaha, you would think the U.S is some backwater third world entity thanks to manner in which it is reported. I mean words like

Regime
Sectarian
Ruler
Security forces
Restive
Remote village
Brutal crackdown

You would never here cnn or bbc or even al jazeera using any of those words in reporting about conflict or crime in the West, because they know those words have a damaging effect, and creates a false image in peoples mind. E.g "The syrian regime" makes it sound like a dictatorship or an illegitimate government even though bashar al asad was democratically elected by the majority. Why can't they instead say "the syrian president" or "the syrian government" as it sound cleaner and more acceptable than "the regime". Why don't they ever refer to the U.S, british, french governments as the "U.S regime".?
Why don't they refer to the current unrest in missouri as a "sectarian unrest"?

By all acounts, New york, Los angeles e.t.c are "Restive regions" too as they experience regular gun shots, murders, riots e.t.c but never will CNN call it "restive". But if it was some area in turkey or syria or lebanon it is "restive" to create a wild west image in your mind as regards those places.

Nigeria doesn't have "meters" installed on the crude oil drilling platforms shocked shocked How in the world do you then know the number of barrels you produce in a day? For all we know, this country could be pumping out 5 million barrels every single day. The ribadu committee setup to investigate the fuel subsidy saga pointed the meter thing out, and recommended the immediate purchase and installation of such meters, but it landed on deaf ears, and now, the same ribadu is partying with them. Do you know where the old adage "born with a silver spoon in the mouth" came from? It refers to both health and wealth
In the 19th century, infants who were fed with silver spoons grew up healthier than those who weren't. This is so because silver is thought to have anti bacterial properties in them, which builds up the infant's immune system. Thus healthy, and in extension wealthy individuals been refered to as "born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth"

And thats also why americans of old value anything silver, especially silver utensils. And popularized the expression "my good silver".

now you know.
PoliticsRe: Sorry State Of Utako Motor Park Abuja by cronsberg: 4:42pm On Aug 13, 2014
Nigeria: A third world backward asss cesspit in west africa, just like the rest of africa. In the first place, this is not how a bus terminal(motor pack) should be like. You can't just fence an empty space, build a couple of offices and name it a bus terminal. There is a proper way of doing it, the grounds should be a couple inches of concrete paving, the structures should be reinforced concrete, the ticketing system should be automated to block any revenue leaks, the main terminal building should be completely roofed to ensure a more comfortable environment for passengers.
So there is just no way i can celebrate this mediocre "park" even when it was new. Look at what proper motor packs look like in normal climes. And this are not even the best of them

Bororojo: There are no "Arabs" in Africa, only arabised people..... and Fuanis are not arabic in any way.
On the second part you would have to expanciate, because Muslim is not synonymous with Arab.
Maybe your caste of fulani has no arab ancestry whatsoever. But in my region, most of the fulanis actually trace their history back to inter mixing with arabs. I am not exagerating or saying this because i feel inferior to arabs, am just telling you what obtains in my area. Our grand parents and even great grand parents regularly tell us these stories of how we were direct descendents of north africans who migrated southwards and intermarried. Whether you accept it or not wouldn't change a single fact.
And to the kenyan girl saying we are posting pics of east africans claiming them to be fulani because of inferiority complex, The only pic that might be east african is the three ethiopian girls with cross around the neck. Honestly i didn't even know they were ethiopian cuz they could easily pass as fulanis as well, Infact i swear to god i personally know fulanis that have lighter skin and straighter(longer) hair than most of the east african people. My aunty can't even go out in the sun cuz her skin is so yellow grin , she immediately turns red, a close male relative of mine has straight long hair that covers his eyes, and i know many folks in my area that are like that naturally, and you tell me there is no intermixing somewhere?
I know there are dark skin fulanis with even african features, but you can't tell me most fulanis are like that. Go to the mambilla highlands and adamawa region(cameroon,) and see how many dark skin fulanis you can pick out, infact if you can find any. Most of them are extremely light skinned. Same for the Yola area/Adamawa(nigeria) but on a lesser extend as there has been huge intermarraiges in that area. So just because majority of the fulanis in Mali or Chad or Niger are dark skinned doesn't means its the same everywhere you find fulanis.
PoliticsRe: ADAMAWA GOVERNORSHIP : PDP Woos Ribadu. by cronsberg: 4:41am On Jul 30, 2014
Here is their plan. REintroduce ribadu into the PDP, then quickly and shabily give him the governorship ticket without due process, by then adamawa state APC would have already conducted primaries and chosen a governorship candidate(ribadu was the strong man there, so without him, APC will have no option but to field a weak candidate), then some topshots will claim ribadu was illegally given the PDP ticket, that they want a rerun primaries by which they will use to reclaim there ticket back and hand it over to Marwa who by then will have no strong contender and will win a landslide and sideline ribadu to the gutters. So the poor ribadu will end up with neither PDP nor APC governorship ticket grin

I hope the guy will be wise enough not to fall for this cheap trick
