Christianity Etc › Re: Why Prophet Muhammad Come After Jesus by Daejoyoung: 11:22pm On Jan 03, 2020 |
Jesus spoke of the spirit of truth in john 14v6. ln the bible the Holyspirit represents the move and the power of God. But when he is in man, only then can he speak through the spirit of the man he is indwelling. So when jesus tells his disciples about the comforter whom he called the spirit of truth, he is referring to the disciples themselves( not Muhammed). The disciples would receive a new spirit that enables them speak only what they heard from God. The gospel of john itself explains that that Spirit was not yet given when jesus was alive:
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Also jesus himself is the one who would send the spirit, except you agree that jesus sent Muhammed: John 15v26-27 26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
And finally, the promise in context was also to the disciples, so therefore the comforter cannot be Muhammed whom the disciples never experienced. |

Maximus69: The translators of the KJV crookedly inserted those additional words to support their TRINITY doctrine.
While translators of other versions copied from older texts and discovered many discrepancies of the KJV translators!
You can also check @ Matthew 17:21 Mark 9:44,46
The Bible has survived many malicious attacks ranging from disguised enemies to furious ones!
But the book survived them all that's why you're noticing the discovered hidden secrets of God's enemies who were wolves in sheep clothing.
So if you're willing to know more feel free to call your Jehovah's Witness friend, he will give you more information regarding this.
I was a Muslim before converting to Jehovah's Witnesses, all these secrets i learnt from them!
Satan used the concept of "if you can't beat them, join them" {Matthew 13:24-30} that's why all these different religions claiming Christians failed woefully to meet up with the challenge of true Christianity like preaching, teaching and forming a global family of peace loving worshippers that Jesus fervently prayed for! John 17:20-23
All those other versions are the works of translators who migrated to America when the persecution in Europe was intense. Jehovah's Witnesses also emerged from America, our own translation is called New Word Translation of the Holy Scriptures and today we are the one and only group that successfully meet up with the requirements of true Christianity!
Thanks! This is slightly off topic, but l am curious at why you quoted Mark 9v44, 46. l don't know if it is also an insertion, but l don't think that passage in Mark is teaching about Hellfire. l know you, just like other jw's are against the hell fire doctrine, but the doctrine of hell has not been the only belief in christendom. Note that there are three different views about the afterlife that are interpreted from new testament writings: 1) Eternal Hellfire( View of mainstream christianity) 2) Annihilation ( views of jehovah witnesses and some other Christians) 3) Universalism ( view of church fathers like Origien, Gregory of Nissa, and a few other early xtians, even some xtians today). |

We need to understand that Africa has a history, and we all are part of that history.
There's no time to waste feeling sorry for ourselves or blaming our fellow brothers and sisters for the attrocities of outside competitors, lets instead meet our challenges with vigour and honour.
Lets not ever become content with mediocrity.
Excellence is where our ancestors put our great continent. Your problem is that you are limiting your view to become afrocentric. This was also the mistake of the great Chinese empire. Humans need knowledge from everywhere. l agree we need to start with our own, but in order to be great we must critically look at every tradition around, take what is good and reject what seems bad. Also we must self reflect, remove what was originally problematic in our society that made us vulnerable to the Europeans and the Arabs. Our culture must have had its problems too. Yes l agree we can start again, but l don't think becoming a black supremacist is the answer. l think first it is important we go back to history and our origins to learn our ways and science, but after doing this, we must also understand that no culture can have it all. Europe stole from us according to you, then we can also steal from them too if need be. Perhaps God has deposited something in every race/culture. |

What dyou think happened during the Arabian slavetrade?
What dyou think happened during Colonisation and the horrific Transatlantic campaign ?
The Eurocentrics and the Arabian fundamentalist burnt tons and tons of books and literature that wasnt related to Abrahamic religious text.
These are the reasons we ought to learn, study and research real history.
Can you understand?
Even Albert Einstein visited Egypt.
African scientist invented the speed of light thousands of years ago.
Africa was invaded by Asia and Europe.
And they both stole parts of our legacy in order to better themselves. l do not doubt what you say, but as the owners of the legacy, we should have built on it and shown traces of massive scientific developments in Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Sudan, lfe, Benin Kingdom, etc thousands of years ago like 1000AD when Europe and Arabia had not come to us yet, that's my argument. But although we had technological achievements, great empires, artistic works, and some form of science, we did not invent the gun powders, computers and aeroplanes first, nor did we invent the atomic bombs or at least machines that helped commercialize farming or produce industrial revolutions. That's my arguement. |

k4kenny: Lol. That verese was reaveled after the Prophet's(SAW) wedding ceremony to his wife, Zainab bint Jahsh(RA). Some Guests overstayed, laughing and eating late into the night. You're right, he was actually shy and embarrassed to ask them to leave so could spend time with his new wife. So he waited awkwardly till they left. So Allah revealed the verse to let the believers know how to conduct themselves in not just the Prophet's home, but in all homes they're invited to. Even the Prophet had regular human issues too
Yes, it's one of the many times Allah(swt) came to the aid Prophet Muhammad (saw) lol my problem with all these is that Allah has many issues to address which he was silent on, like human slavery and how muslims should see slaves as their brother in humanity, and other issues at least, but allah had to spend time addressing things like these? Also Surah 111, that entire surah is about Muhammed's uncle and Allah reigning curses on him, Punishments he would receive in Hellfire(both he and his wife) and so on. Can you imagine? Allah dedicated an entire chapter of the Quran just to curse Muhammed's uncle? l mean l'm not saying you should reject the quran as the word of God, and l am not saying that God can't be so interested in stuff like these ( heck God even reveals verses concerning Muhammed's marital issues), l am just saying they are quite interesting to me and l find it hard to believe. A more likely explanation to me is that the Quran is a book reflecting the meditations of Muhammed and dealing with his personal life and other stuffs around his society. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Did God Want Adam And Eve To Eat The Forbidden Fruit? The Answer Is Yes by Daejoyoung: 3:02pm On Jan 03, 2020 |
MrPresident1: No. God neither planned nor intended for Adam and Eve to eat from the forbidden fruit, on the contrary, God actually planned for them to destroy that tree, and to ensure that only the tree of life remained in the garden of Eden.
Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Both the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are ideologies. The tree of life is the knowledge of God and his laws, this is the Law that God gave to Moses.
The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is the idolatrous, evil, wicked, ungodly, devilish law of Israel's neighbour; their heathenistic demonic practices.
You see, in the garden of Eden, Adam (Israel) was not the only person present there, Israel had neighbours that God commanded her to rout out completely, in routing out those neighbours, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would be destroyed completely. And only the tree of life would be present forever.
This is where Adam (Israel) failed. Rather than completely destroying the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam started partaking out of its fruit, until that tree completely corrupted him, and he died to God.
The tree of life is Jesus Christ You are reading the bible the way it was written to be read. kudos. |

Amujale: Great question.
Isaac Newton did give credit to Imhotep and the KM.Tic Scientific community in some of his write ups.
Isaac Newton was obsessesed with KM.Tic scientists. i.e Imhotep.
Isaac Newton spent so many years in Egypt that we simple stopped counting so as not to jinx him.
According to African history, these were the period that denotes some of the lowest points, the Arabian slavetrade was about fizzling away and had caused great famine, displacements and all the agents associated with the Islamic crazy wars and Arabian fundamentalist warmongery.
Then, at that critical moment, the Eurocentrics brought their pranks and tricks, they would use their missionaries to escalate delicate feuds, create false propaganda so as to create conflict.
Then after the conflicts are settled, they attacked; they colude with neighbouring communities to attack the winning side.
These were the days leading to Colonisation and the Transatlantic slavetrade.
Instead of Isaac Newton, acknowledge Imhotep and the KM.Tic scientist instead, treat Isaac Newton as the afterwards scientist that he was.
Study African history with the guidance and expertise of genuine African and pro-African historians. But lmhotep was just one man who lived more than 4000years ago. Show me the line of inventors in African history who built on what lmhotep left behind like isaac Newton did? Even if what you say is true, that Africans invented science and everything else originally, it is clear that Africans like the chinese did not tap into this wealth of Genius. Today you seem to extol lmhotep and lmhotep alone, but after isaac Newton, there have been many in the west who also did great things e.g Albert Einstein. So it is not enough to have knowledge but the means and desire to spread this knowledge to the common man. Religions like christianity and islam embrace all men, and all they have to do is proclaim faith. Such religions were used as tools to create civilisations where they seemed to believe they were all equal as long as they were of thesame faith, so things like the printing press were created so that knowledge can pass down to the common men and weak in society, not just the leaders and the priests. |

Amujale: All the Abrahamic religious text are fake, false and counterintuitive.
It's important to note that the Abrahamic religions comprise of Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
Cease fixation on the fakery and falsehood and concentrate our focus on real history.
Real history is trustworthy.
African history is proven to be true and trustworthy.
African history is the universal standard to which all other concepts and understandings are derived.
Africans discovered the concepts of literacy.
Africans discovered the concepts of numeracy.
All the major intellectual and technological breakthroughs in human history begins with the African, all the other scientist, scholars and academics built their knowledge and academia out of these.
Therefore, one should appreciate that generically, our continent is the major intellectual realm and centre of excellence and splendor for the entire planet Earth.
Hence, one should ask the sounding question.
Why?
Why is it that all the world are falling over themselves to learn, study and store our intellect, our legacy?
Yet, we are being taught to neglet real history and instead be engaging in their (The Arabian fundamentaliast and Eurocentrics)fakery and falsehood.
For example, studying African history allows one the understamding that sending humans to outter space is ultimately achieved through the intellectual capacity of the African.
That is to say, studying African history increases one's intellectual capacity. l understand your zeal for Africa, but then where did we go wrong? When isaac Newton was inventing calculus in the 17th century, what were our fathers doing? lf science and knowledge comes from Africa, then even before the white man came, we should have invented things like calculus, gunpowder, machines, printing press, computers, etc. lt seems the knowledge of the west became superior to ours at some point, wouldn't you agree? |

mrollyB: Happy new year bro
I was busy for some time, am just getting your response now.
I will have to say something before I start anything, what I want to say is until we open our mind to question, ask and learn we will not achieve any greatness. Not only In religious matters but in all aspects of life.
That Been said, we have assumed alot of things about Jesus and the Bible and we have learnt to tell ourselves what we feel is the right thing to suit our situation at the moment.
Jesus said something like I am the truth the way and the light, that who so ever will go to my father will come through me. Right? That was a straight statement from Jesus and we believe it and we don't twist it. Why? Because it's suits us, it's suits what we believe and we don't need any holy spirit to tell us what that means.
But statements like this
My father is greater than I, I can't not do anything except from my father, all this ones are not direct. In the cases above, we need to find a better explanation to give it such that Jesus will not be junior to God but the same with him.right
Cases like cursing the Tree when it was not the season of it to bear fruit, but he caused it and the tree died instantly, all of this and more requires a whole lot of spiritual guidance to understand his action.
You see firstly you need to know why you are doing what you are doing and not just because you met it like that or they told you to do it this way or that way.
If Jesus said he is not sent to anybody than lost sheep of Israel, it's simple and straight forward no need to look around to justify why you think he is sent to Africans or Americans.
Jesus speaks in parables and when he realised that his disciples can't understand him he explains what he meant to them right there and then. If he said something and he knows that we won't understand he will explain like he did in all his parables in the Bible. Let us stop looking for justifications for ourselves. Jesus is of HIgher power he knows what we can understand and can't understand. We need no other things to understand him nor need to fabricate explanation for him. Yeah you are right, Jesus cursing the fig tree was a prophecy against the temple. The story as written mark is to say that judgement would come against that temple for the true temple of God to be revealed. Alongside the destruction of the temple by the Romans, jesus body was also destroyed by the Romans so that the true temple of God can be revealed. We ( the new body of christ) are supposed to have our bodies as the temples of the living God. ln other words, cursing of the fig tree was just a prophetic act against the temple in Mark's understanding. |

k4kenny: Exactly we are humans, we're prone to making errors. Any scripture inspired by the God Almighty cannot be incorrect.
No, God never authored a book. Rather He inspired His Prophets with the scriptures to guide their people to worship none but Him. These scriptures were later corrupted by human hence the errors. The Qur'an is the final scripture of God to mankind. Allah Himself said it'll be protected from corruption. I think we are not understanding each other here. l am saying that the bible was never taken to be dictated word of God from the very beginning. lt was always known to be written by man but useful for our information about God and our learning. lt is not even one single book, it is a library of books chosen by jews and Christians themselves. ln christianity most especially, the gospels are not from jesus, they are biographies about him written 40-50years after his death. Anything written by man can have errors, it doesn't mean there's no truth in it. You are the one who say Quran is authored by God, so the Islamic religion is a stricter religion of the book than Judaism and Christianity. Jews and Christians can agree that their books have errors and that men authored it, but for muslims they must accept the entire quran as the word of God himself, and all muslims must believe this, which to me is a bigger problem for islam. |

If you buy a device and the manual is filled with errors and items inconsistent with the device you've purchased, would you be convinced that it's the manufacturer that wrote the manual? Anyone without sound knowledge of the product could have sneaked the manual into the package. Such is the case of the bible. Why would you call a book with errors was inspired by God. God is not the author of confusion . k4kenny, we write things with errors every day, we also compose music that may have errors, but it doesn't mean that we are not inspired by something powerful. There is no evidence that God ever authored a book in this world, but the love of God inspires men to write about God and such writings can be useful for our learning. |

themonk: Which of these two should go against your nature?
1) Forgiving and forgetting someone’s sins without repercussion.
2) Sending your son to die on the cross in a horrendous manner so you can forgive humans.
Is this even a question?
Human sacrifice that incurred more sins from those who sacrificed Jesus. I mean this is a God who encouraged slavery in this book you speak of, encourage some tribes of humans to go and kill other tribes even though he supposedly created both of them but he loved one more, this is unjust isn’t it? The Bible cannot be a moral compass, I mean Christians that have the guts to even argue irk me. I don’t like to argue with people about religion but I’m so concerned when people try to convince others it is a moral compass or a coherent, informative and infallible book of justice. Stick to your religion and just believe that things you see there you will get to understand later. Except you have any esoteric knowledge about the Bible or you read another bible different from the one I read or you just ignore the holes like most people do please just have faith that what you believe will be just and truthful and at the appointed time God will reveal everything to you.
Yes, miracles and divine manifestations work through the Bible but it also worked through ancient religions. In Igbo land they where bad and good native doctors and in Christianity there are pastors that kill their enemies and even neighbors and pastors that don’t. Some might argue that these pastors are possessed by evil spirits lol, these people haven’t read the Old Testament. The thing is if you are smart enough this should tell you that this thing is deeper than you can imagine. Go out and do research and compare what you believe with reality, theoretical and arm-chair Bible arguments don’t work.
All my life I’ve always questioned why things happen and try to compare what happens with theories the Bible proposed and it has never matched up. I am not saying the Bible is wrong, I’m just saying I’ve not found any reason for it to be right. Please let this not discourage you from being a christian, just don’t be a sheep. If you are stimulated by your spirit to ask questions ask them, if not please don’t, maybe it’s your destiny to take the blue pill and not the red one. ok let me narrate to you what l understand about the death of jesus and God's forgiveness. When you study the entire bible, you would see that there are three aspects to sin interwoven: 1) Our personal daily sins- The most common type of sin, which is simply breaking of God's commandments as well as lack of love. This is the one you said God can just forgive and that is true. God forgives us inasmuch as we repent and forgive others who sin against us. 2) Sin as a State: This is simply our mortality due to the fall of man, we are simply flesh and we are prone to errors, because we are mortal also we die. All humans are in a state of adamic sin, we cannot escape from this type of sin until the resurrection age( the age to come), but we have the Holyspirit to help us live above this state, while still in this world, to a large extent. 3)Collective/Unintentional Sins: This is sin that could come from yourself alone, but the power of this sin is when it comes mostly from others around you and in your community. The collective guilt of the world or our nation affects us all the time. ln lsaiah 53, because of this sin, the innocent suffering servant of God was also affected and died. As a nation, according to the myth in Exodus of how the Israelites became a nation, a lamb was responsible for their salvation. Because of the lamb, Israel did not remain under slavery and also they were not made extinct by the angel of death. Fast forward 1600 years later, after jesus died. The disciples who were once convinced that jesus is the messaiah, did not let go even after his crucifixion, then they began to see that the lamb was like a prophecy of jesus. The way the lamb saved the nation as a whole through it's death is a pointer to jesus who gave himself up to the Romans as a ransom so that his followers ( a new nation) may be formed. The phrase by the Angel to Mary: "And he shall save his people from their sin" refers to this salvation of the nation ( and by extension) the world from slavery, exile, and sufferings which are the effects of this type of sin. lt was believed that because of the collective guilt of the lsrael, everyone was suffering under Roman oppression, and even jesus their messaiah representing them also died not because he partook in their sins but in every way he was made like his brothers. According to early Christian thinking then, jesus death hath formed a new remnant of lsrael that survived. The new covenant has been established by this sacrifice of himself to the enemy as prophesied by the lamb on passover which established both lsrael as a nation and that old covenant. |

khia: @ the Op, those people who died in the Holocaust were not God's people. But they were humans right? many were teenagers and probably children too. Jesus tells us that God makes his sun to shine on both the good and evil, what does that mean? Even if we are to accept this your claim that they are not God's people, then in places where Christians have been killed similar to some events in the holocaust, why did God permit it? since you believe Christians are the only ones who are God's people. |
