Glutton for Punishment
Money, food, shopping bags ... That's all they know like dem papa dey starve them.
If you really wanna hang out with your boo, what's wrong with a walk in the park & coffee/drink to hydrate? Must he pull his wallet everytime huh Earn yourself some self respect jor.
Charity they say begins at home.
Parents have a lot to do seriously. Firstly try and have the amount of children you can at least give the BASICS plus a little extra once in a while. I know it's not easy but like you said about 80% of charity begins at home. My mum was still buying my clothes till I got to 200l and a strange top or slippers would have warranted serious questioning.

I had course mates who were sending money home to their parents, paying house rent , buying cars for their mothers shuo a pikin in school that is not working. huh And before people spring the poverty card there were loads of gals from extremely poor backgrounds who still did not think sleeping with guys to get money was acceptable.

Some guys who know they only have sexual interest in the girl will still complain that she is high maintenance when they both know they are in it for what they can get.
The guy wants to get between her legs and the girl wants his money yet somehow, both of them expect the other person to be the 'mugu' and give up their bargaining chip easily grin
I laugh.

If they are both genuinely interested in each other without the incentive of sex or money at the back of their minds, they don't need anyone to tell them how to arrange convenient inexpensive dates.
Like I said Cunning man die cunning man bury am. grin

She wants your money, you just want to chop and clean mouth = equation balanced

All these rant sef undecided

If you don't want to take a girl out, don't
If you don't want to go to a guy's house, don't
If you planned N10K for the date, stick to it

Dem tie una hand and leg?

If do not have money and you need to go on a date, fucking use ya brain and be creative (both parties grin)

Hubby once fried yam wit correct sauce and half bottle of Fanta (Can't finish one bottle) (long ago as students). We stroll to his house and back to mine grin; go for dance programs etc.
Take ludo or scrabble or chess or monopoly or cards and find a nice place to play.
Take a stroll....
Go and watch a match..

Where are people's creativityhuh

Again, a guy with N2,000 in his pocket will say 'baby I will take care of you' as if you are her father knowing fully well that care = money in Nigeria.
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin Sister bukatyne was really a 'sister' in her Uni days

You have a point though.

Both parties should stop whining. Certain naija men & women deserve each other. Cunning man die cunning man bury am cheesy

Taking a girl out or 'taking care' of her is not the indicator that you are a great catch and girls please stop 'begging' for recharge card, Brazilian hair ( you can always braid your hair wink) its really demeaning.

Charity begins at home
If you have money, start with taking out your sisters and relatives to these places before you consider stray women
With all the money supposedly flowing, you'd think fathers, brothers, uncles, etc would do more for their female relatives who can't afford such treats
In the old days, your Dad and male relatives gave you such treats, it was not payment for sexual favors from randy men
When you raise girls that are shown the good life by their parents/relatives, they are less likely to give it all up for a plate of fried rice
WORD.... I am not that old though smiley

true that!
naija guys feel offended when a chic offers to pay. the society makes it his responsibility to provide. cheesy

what was the criteria? grin

so if you could turn back the hands of time, you would have taxed your toasters?

ahaaaaa!
daddy's pet. grin
Criteria was different things but it was not just about going out, sending credit and stalking you over the phone with 100 calls a day etc. Stillwater is right most naija gals think the above is the definition of 'caring'.

Naa I won't..even moreso now that I am older. Some of my friends used to 'pity' me sha. They even hated one of my toasters back then cos it was just 'talk talk' grin grin they would say 'ahan how can someone be coming to a girls hostel and just come empty handed and just be gisting gisting grin He was already working in a bank at the time sef grin so the hatred was x2. I liked his company though and he still remains my friend till today. He just liked women too much and me I was not down for 'main chic side chic' wahala so he eventually became 'friend zoned tongue

Yeah yeah my daddy kiss was the first man in my life o and boy did he give me a sense of self worth. So one yeye boy won't start thinking TFC fried rice and chicken is a big deal. cheesy

Hehehe. You see yasef?

We like the pack girls too, we still invite those ones. If you bring five friends, we call five sex-starved friends in the hood to balance the equation before we even offer you water to drink. That way you know we mean business. grin
grin cheesy cheesy

But jokes apart I don't think you will actually want a 'third wheel' not to talk of ' fifth' wheel on a date out with a guy that you fancy.

A date is not just about food but getting to know each other.

so the vex money has never been used to bail you out & yet you have consumed more than 30 plates of fried rice & chicken? damiso, diarisgod o. grin

i believe you.... grin
so let's assume you went on one of those dates and the guy insists you go dutch....and you did......if he asks you for another date, would you go? grin

i never liked girls who move in gangs. it's a turn-off! take a 6-girl clique to a restaurant? i be santa claus? cheesy
Coogar make I no lie I don't know o grin :Dyou sef know naija guys don't ' insist' on going Dutch. I have volunteered to pay for the popcorn at a movie and the guy was very offended (like his manhood was dependent on his ability to pay for popcorn undecided).

And who told you I consumed fried rice and chicken? cheesy I hated that 'hungry girl' generalisation so I almost always had only a drink esp on a first date. I know some guys who said I was 'forming ' na them know . the ability to buy me food was not a dating criteria.

I was the 'suffering One' back then o.God did not just give me the head of 'spending' boyfriends and toasters(or maybe I was always just too proud to ask).

Make I no lie my shakara was a lot.My dad used to take me and my sister Out to eat (name it from shitta amala to Terris burger to Eko Le meridien cheesy) and so taking me to eat 'fried rice and chicken ' was not something that used to trip me.
FamilyRe: Nigerian Men & 'Come To My House' Syndrome by damiso(f): 9:01pm On Jun 18, 2015
Ok I won't lie sha I never had to go Dutch (BUT I also never used to buy boxers and socks as gifts wink) but I always always carried what i called 'vex money' with me on a date.

And my vex money was always enough to pay for my meal plus my cab back to my fathers house grin and yes coogar even if the meal was at Ocean view tongue

Coogar and Timbuktuo girls tended to go on 'mass dates' with guys they considered magas grin and did not like. I always hated the idea sha. I remember one of my bros liked one girl who moved in a 6 girl clique grin you invite one out better go and look for money for 5 more people. grin grin grin

Runs girls dont go to ikoyi club? grin Thats exactly where they will find their customers, but the funny thing is these boys can spot a social climber from a mile.

Really? That must have been an experience.
I dont know how some women stay married to these men, very few of them are mentally ok.
It was o. she asked for my dad's name ,where he worked ,where my mother was from even trying to decode if she knew people who knew them(which she invariably did as most lagosians know each other). I could have put the mums issues to you wanting to know the background of who your child is dating. It's the bobo himself I had issues with. All i can say I don't se ju ara mi lo (I don't do pass myself) so if I had married him we would probably be having issues with trying to keep up with the joneses. Remembering that guy makes me laugh sometimes. If I had looked at all the trappings I would have probably been an 'Island big gal' by now cheesy Chei see me suffering in london cheesy

BUT I would have been suffering and smiling and probably using all my own money to keep an 'image'.

That said it works for some and sometimes that name and clout opens up doors and opportunities that might not have otherwise been opened. It was not just for me.

I however get and know the 'die hard abi should we call it die there' mentality of some gals when they snag this old money ikoyi 'big boys'. It's just a bit puzzling that toke could be a runs gal with all her 'independent women preaching'

That Lagos social scene sha and all shades of fakeness. Ah..ah!! Na only you carry hayfever for head, Dami? cheesy cheesy

But seriously, I haven't had it like I used to, before. I do take my medication (all three) as usual (which in the past would have provided just the slightest bit of relief), so I am absolutely fine.

You know what, maybe you should join me in squeezing a lime and lemon fruit each, into your bottle of drinking water every morning. It's horrible, but gosh, the health benefits are awesome. Maybe that's why I feel almost "normal" this hay-fever season. Plus exercising helps too (I think). I registered at my local gym and yesterday evening after work, went for a 30 minute swim. Today, early mo-mo, I went for the 1hr cycling class. Goodness! It was intensive. The instructor was brutal. I think they all must be on drugs in that class. Even a guy with one leg was cycling away like a maniac.

So, in order for your sister not to carry last, she threw herself into it. Big time. Imagine doing squats and press-ups while cycling? Or being asked to up the resistance from 9, 10, 11, to 12 and to give 150rpm? Ah..ah! grin grin
All this fitness winches that want to intimidate person grin we are having health and well being week at work and there is an ongoing pedometer challenge efe you won't believe some people are clocking 30,000 ( and it meant to increase everyday till Friday)steps as at today shocked the day I reached 15,000 it was my bbm dp for 3 days grin I kuku exercise o so I don't know what the issue is with this darn hay fever.

I also do the lemon lime water thing it's even in my water at all times(like 3 of my colleagues have started copying me sef) .remember me and edwife even add mint and cucumber to our own concontion cheesy

I will sleep at 10 . Maybe I need more rest .My mum kept looking at me in awe when she was around . She can't believe i am the same lazy teenager she used to threaten to wash clothes and clean her room back then. grin

Hello Coogar,
There is nothing like happiness when it comes to these two. If it was about happiness she wont have gone ahead to marry him after what his family members did to her.
Did people actually take that marriage seriously? I mean their sham of a marriage. grin
The Maje guy actually stood her up at the Ikoyi Registry, hit her and she still went on to plan a surprise a wedding. Only a thirsty and low self-esteemed girl will do that.
As far as I'm concerned, they deserve each other. Who marries a runs girl like toke and a Lagos Ikoyi Fugk boy like Maje Ayida and expect it to last?
shocked shocked shocked toke was a runs girl. With all the independent woman ish on her Vlogs and instagram?

one tip, you could spray the sliced ripe plantain with cooking spray, lay them on a flat oven tray and pop in the oven.
Or spray your regular pan and spray the plantain then put on your stove top at very low heat. To prevent them from burning.
Turn them on the other side when one side is cooked

It still comes out like deep fried plantain sans the oil. Takes a little while to cook too if you put it on low heat but the sacrifice we make for food we love huh? cheesy

That's what I do when I can't hold the urge anymore. I really do like fried plantain too.

But I grew up in Nigeria and we aren't allowed to roam the front lawn not to talk of neighbour's house unmonitored, ordinary tenten sef , my brothers must be out there playing soccer with their boys. Our Dad watched us like a hawk. I only have a mental layout of my neighbours house as described by them. Even when invited to birthday parties, I dare not peek in their homes. so are they. This was late 80s/90s up. Till we all flew the nest. this is the same parenting pattern I chose to follow. My eldest kid always give me heck for that but I don't care. My house my rules.

So the sudden nonchalant attitude we read on NL are just unimaginable to take in. I mean how could a mother swallow even her spit without knowing her kids whereabout & wellbeign?? A 3 year old inside one random guys apartment. I just can't phantom it. #deep sigh#
