Getting back to No 10 Nicola Sturgeon: That is not down to us it means Labour could not beat the Tory party in England Talk about adding salt to injury ![]() I am sure Ed Milliband feels like killing Nicola Sturgeon right now Edwife sorry o your boyfriend is a goner. On the upside though labour won in my consistuency after 30 years of being a safe lib dem seat. My current desk situation. Not used the vending machine in ages. Before you would have seen one walkers crisps like that. I used to decieve myself that it was baked and not fried. Efe I know that feeling my trousers looked baggy this morning.i think I need to go shopping I hate when trousers have that 3rd leg look ![]() My own aim is not just to loose weight I just want to incorporate healthy living for better improved health.
|
EfemenaXY:No not really it was more like stomach ulcers.very horrible Sharp pains in the upper abdomen. So my doctor told me to cut out fixzy drinks totally. At that time I used to have minimum 4 bottles or cans of coke a day. I had to stop and not had the illness since I have. The key like you said Efe if you don't have it at home you won't eat it. I throw away most of the party packs the kids get from parties as some contain an outrageous amount of sweets. |
Tomorrow Lunch prep Yam porridge and steamed spinach. Made the porridge with 1 tablespoon of rapeseed oil. My colleague asked me today why I was using kiddie size bowls for lunch. In my mind i said this one does not know the struggle is real you think everyone is naturally slim like you( she is also twenty something no kids ) I started using small bowls and plates for portion control and I have really seen the difference.
|
edwife:Well done its hard I know but hang in there..now I look at coke and I can't believe I was once addicted to it. We don't buy fizzy drinks at all and I am gradually phasing out fruit juices too.Its just a bit awkward when you have unexpected visitors and you can only offer water. |
olumba69:Yours looks nice too.. |
edwife:Don't worry you will be fine. I gave up fizzy drinks almost 9 years ago after I was diagnosed with gastro intestinal issues and now I can't even remember the taste. |
Chillisauce:You are right..I know how many extra calories I used to consume when my kids never used to eat their food and I would eat one spoon put one spoon in their mouth ![]() Now if you don't eat I will put in the bin for you.. |
Chillisauce:Yes o very calorific.. I try to take like a fistful a day I.e like 25g at a time.Don't mind me am just too tight there are smaller portion cups in the shops that are like 40g but I said why buy 40g for £1 when this 200g is £2.40 Lai Lai I be Nigerian gal I will put in cup myself ![]() All those small size packaged stuff are a bloody rip off. The other day I wanted to buy melons and one small cup was like £2.50 when I can buy a whole melon for £2. Mbanu they should look for another way to cheat me I be ijebu gal ![]() |
smartmom:Thank you. It was hard with the coke thing but I guess if I could do that guess I could do the sugar too. Bank Holiday over my lunch prep taking in my own lunch and snacks In allows me curb eating unhealthy stuff. The Almonds are for the whole week and they are really filling with water for that mid morning snack. Chillisauce that cous cous looks yummy.

ladygogo: :Dby the time you do ita(3 day prayer) 7 day Fidau,41 days etc etc the costs go just dey pile up.They even yii eyin oku pada(turn the corpse back ) like seriously corpse that has already decomposed. |
I kinda agree to an extent about spending money that is non existent or people going Into debt. But if the deceased was looked after and its not a strain on their finances why not? I used to think it was a Nigerian or African thing until I attended the burial of my friend's English grandmother. They did not cook like we would cook but these people spent over £5,000 on flowers The coffin nko? The whole funeral cost over £20,000 and all we ate was sandwiches and sausage rolls ![]() The main difference though is that slightly more well to do white people tend to save towards their funerals so as not to over burden their children or loved ones. Poor people everywhere struggle with funeral costs and for some people in the UK the local authority has to come to the family's aid for people to be buried. The average costs of a UK funeral i.e a burial or cremation, is £3,456. Non well to do people who will cook and do party in Nigeria might not spend that much. I don't I spent up to that when my dad died.(Muslim burial though and my dad hated parties) Our own pomp and pageantry though is not necessarily associated to the actual costs of laying to the earth or cremation so I guess that's where culture comes to play. |
EfemenaXY:Haa Efe wan kill person give up tea iv already switched to herbal/green tea( most of those in my picture are flavoured green teas/camomile/fennel/lemon) but to give up totally Hian I don't know o. I will try sha. Drink more water now though. Will try to limit it to 2 cups a day max and then drink more water in between.Edwife ok I will go back to brownsugar/honey. Will use just one satchet of those ones they provide in my office(yuk imagine that on green tea but staying healthy is a sacrifice )For those of you who gave up bread totally how did you do it? I have given up white and the normal sliced variant I have just whole wheat pitta bread now(see picture) and just one or two at at time but to give up bread totally I just don't know. One of my friends is trying to get us to do a no bread AT ALL for one month challenge but I no think say I fit o. ![]() See my black legs chai ![]()
|
edwife:Thanks edwife I will try this one.I tried Truvia its disgusting ![]() I try to use honey as well but was kinda not keen on leaving it in my drawers at work. They get sticky after some time. So do you think Brown sugar is actually healthier than sweetners? I buy brown sugar for hubby but I don't use it. |

Sorry for gate crashing guys but need ideas and tips on managing my sugar intake. I have been able to eliminate fizzy drinks (was addicted to coke used to have like 4 bottles a day but I am proud to say I have not had a bottle of Coke or fizzy drinks in about 9 yrs). I am not a chocolate or dessert person. my kids or people buy me chocolate for mothers etal and I give them out. I have the occasional biscuit once in a while cake etc. My issue now is my morning cuppa or coffee. I take my coffee and tea black but It must be sweet. I can't do without tea I can do without coffee but if I have not had tea in a day (including summer) it's like something is missing.i switched to fruit and herbal teas but It still has to be sweet. I first switched to Brown sugar then I read reviews that said its still calorie packed. Then honey(still use honey ) but it's not compact to take to work. Then i switched to sweetners (Splenda) at work. Now I read reviews on how artificial sweetnees were banned in Japan as they are linked to cancer.i then bought stevia a plant based sweetner but It had this disgusting bitter after taste(defeats the purpose does it not ) also been reading that it also causes cancer.Wetin girl go do now, I need my tea but I need it sweet. Tips please Efemenaxy Chillisauce Edwife Others That tea collection down there is me running out Hubby thinks I have issues he says what is all this zillion teas you keep drinking is it not just something in hot water. I have even switched the house tea to Tetley 50/50( green tea/black tea)

Children say the oddest and meanest things to each other. Inherently children are selfish and tend to throw tantrums or say horrible things when things don't go their way it's up to parents and responsible adults to channel those emotions and try to let them see that they have to consider others and the world does not revolve around them. Na wa for the correlation between the state of origin and a child's over active imagination ![]() |
Awwww God bless her. One does really learn from this lil ones. |
@ cocancandy and Ewuro4 thank you I am normally very chilled about this things and like you said coco sometimes am amused even my mum jokes so you just want to have 'Jack and Jill' but the way she was grilling and grilling me was highly intrusive as soon as I reply thinking she will leave me alone na so she go ask another question o anyway na to dey greet from far.If she was that insensitive to me I don't want to imagine how someone else who might be TTC would feel. I kuku told that you know some people are praying for just one and that know one understands the mystery of conception sometimes. People need to learn how to be sensitive. |
Ewuro4:Thanks sis learning how to. |
