Gregyboy,
You are even committing more blunders in your attempt to give clarifications.

Let me do this, i dont want to stress you, so I will ask you to bring both Esan and Edo people who know thoroughly the history of the coast to come and defend lies put up there by the author. I understand you were planning this to be a series. Part I is already controversial. Be clear before posting more parts.

Let me also use the opportunity now to correct you that Itsekiri Kingdom was not part of Benin Kingdom. Each was an independent Kingdom.

Itsekiriland was settled by Ijebus many centuries ago. Their Monarch now is a dynasty from Benin. Their story is similar to Lagos, settled by Aworis.
Itsekiri was part of Great Benin Kingdom until it broke away to become an independent kingdom.
And also, many parts of Yorubaland was colonies of Benin Kingdom under Benin rule for many years.

If you knew history of Yorubaland you would have recognized that all those names you listed are Yoruba names. Any word with Ol- as prefix is Yoruba. Any word with Ad- as prefix is Yoruba. Any word with El-, or Al-, or Il- as prefix is Yoruba. There are many more but Im sure you got the the understanding.

On invasion, I will save Bini the embarassment, but records exists that dispute what you wrote. I cannot reveal these things without causing embarassment to the Bini throne. Bini is a brother to Oyo, what I wouldnt do to Oyo I dare not do to Bini.
Your statement about prefix is total rubbish.. You should have just said Yoruba started alpabets thenn

This is not about more 50% or majority as invaders like you also have in Edo states where Edo with Yoruba blood are majority over Edo with Igbo blood like Esan, Aushi, Ogbona, Igbanke, e.t.c., doesn't mean that Edo with Yoruba blood own the land. TAO11:
I can see I have obviously knocked some sense out of your head while the flogging was ongoing, because none of the references I cited here has the name of Chief J. U. Egharevba.

And even if I ever make reference to the works of Chief Egharevba, yes he is the most authoritative indigenous Bini historian the world has ever seen till date.

Name me one indigenous Bini historian who is more authoritative than Egharevba, and cite me the "European" scholar who said Egharevba's accounts of Benin history is fictional. Lie-lie Bini boy cheesy

And regarding your reference to certain Bini "edonet" website: I am glad that you clearly stated that your "edonet" stated "otherwise".

In other words, world renowned incontrovertible sources (such as The British Museum, Margaret Plass, or William Fagg) trace the origin of Bini bronze/brass casting to Ife in the 13th century; but your overzealous random Bini "edonet" website got it wrong here altogether.

Just to add something more to your skull: The name of the chief bronze caster sent from Ife to civilize the Binis into the art of bronze casting is Igueigha. And guess what, he is still being worshipped as a god in Benin kingdom till date at its shrine in Chief Ine's place.

If you truly live in Benin, then go now to Bronze Casters street to inquire (about this god whom they still worship till date) from the appropriate elders there.

If inferiority complex has not gripped and drenched them too, then they will definitely confirm my submission that he first came to Bini as an emissary from Ife to civilize the Binis into the art and craft of bronze casting. cheesy

Take note of the following very important point:

The contents of your Bini "edonet" or "edoworld" websites are accurate only to the extent that it agrees with world renowned expert, academic, and scholarly submissions, such as the British Museum, William Fagg, Margaret Plass, et al.

Every other comment you made beyond this point are your usual distractive incoherent disjointed ins@nely idi0tic rants.

Go and siddon in corner and suck pacifier!

What became Bini stories were founded by fables told by men who lived thousands of miles away and never knew where the Bini was. They heard tell tales from sailors and repeated the storiws....most embellished to great degrees. It should be called blogs. Today bloggers in California can talk about what you are doing in Benin without ever visiting you.

We need account from writers who viaited Benin. Those writers witnessed the truth first hand and everyone of them without exception said your first and second dynasties were donated from Ife....in addition to your arts and cults.

You have no indigeneous cult or art except what Ife taught to you. We civilized you!

You must share with us how you covered your body when Yoruba discovered you in the forest.
You Yorubas keep saying Yorubas founded this, Yorubas started that, Yorubas invented this, Yorubas Kingdom did this..
Yet most historical discussions is about Benin, most artifacts and art works are from Benin, most historical conquests and greatness is about Benin, most historical exploits are about Benin... Even Lagos history starts with Benin.
So please tell me what did Yorubas actually do or own?

CultureRe: The Greatest Oba In Benin Kingdom History by davidnazee: 12:08am On Jun 19, 2019
I choose Oba Ovoronmen as the greatest..
He stood tall and strong in the face of British conquest of Africa. When other kings around him (Yoruba kings for example) were bending the knees and surrendering to British rule without a fight, Oba Ovoranmen fought to keep his kingdom independent and free. Even though he lost the battle, he proved he wasn’t a coward.
In recognition of him, the British named their largest merchant ship after Ovoranmen.
If not for British interference in Africa Ovoranmen would probably have achieved a lot.

The only foreign power that ever set foot in Benin before the British came were the Igalas during the time of Oba Esigie. Me I don't know where their story is coming from
No mind them.. small ogedengbe that was a thief raiding small farming villages is who yorubas are calling a hero..
even the Benin general in charge of the soldiers sent to capture ogedengbe was executed by the palace for failing to bring ogedengbe head..
the general not wanting to fight because he wanted to be home with his family sent a messenger to ogedengbe to inform him that Benin is coming for his head.. he knew ogedengbe will flee like a coward and save everyone the stress of fighting.. but the palace wanted only ogedengbe’s head so the general was executed for failing in his task..

"He also went as far as the present day Edo state. The Oba of Benin had to appease him before he desisted from waging war against his domain. He gave Ogedengbe presents of beads, slaves and other valuable articles."

You have started with this silly lies again. What year did Ogedengbe step foot in Benin and was appeased?

Go and read the account of one of the Benin chiefs caught during the British invasion who got angry at the Yoruba soldiers for betraying Benin after training some of them during the Kiriji war.

Ogedengbe never step foot in Benin and was never appeased, appease him for what? No tribe I repeat no tribe in Nigeria EVER won a battle against the Benin Empire. As rugged as the Ibadan warriors were they never dared Benin and as rugged as the Fulani jihaddist were they were stopped at Auchi.

Get your facts right,Ogedengbe wanted blessings and he was given to stop the Ibadan warriors who became bandits.
You forget that no Yoruba tales by moonlight is complete or sweet without the mighty Benin Kingdom included in it.
Truth is Ogedengbe was actually a bandit and he did venture into Benin territory but he fled when he heard the a small contingent of Benin soldiers were marching towards him to capture him.

He was never appeased. It was even his fighters that advised him to flee or be killed. They reminded him that Benin have never been and cannot be defeated in battle.
Yes Benin trained Yoruba fighters during the kiriji wars and also fought for them against Ibadan.

CultureRe: Igbo In The 1700's by davidnazee: 2:41pm On Apr 23, 2019
In earlier comments we talked about the possibilty that some of the 'facts' that ended up in Olaudah's story came from people, Igbo and non-Igbo, that he encountered in the New World and in Europe. I agreed with that. And I would imagine that most of what he had to say about the political geography of his region of Africa outside of his own 'vale', as he called it, would certainly qualify as something he picked up outside of Africa. There's no way he heard the word 'Benin' in Africa, for example. The Bini of his time did not use that word, and their Igbo neighbours certainly did not.

He also talked about Abyssinia being a kingdom on the border with Benin. No way did he hear that while in Africa either. Explorers before Equiano had speculated, on the basis of certain signs said to be associated with the Bini monarchy, that the Bini had contact with Prester John, a legendary Christian King of Abysinia or somewhere in Asia. Equiano probably learnt about this speculation in the West, and it ended up in the political description of his part of Africa.

This is the main reason why I think building a hypothesis based on what he said about Benin, its extent and distance, it's hegemony and districts etc etc, is seriously flawed. He was almost certainly using other people's material there. These are things an 11-year old in 18th century Africa would be clueless about.

We stand on firmer ground when we come to what he said was going on INSIDE his own village, 'Essaka'. These are things that there are a chance he could have witnessed with his own eyes. Not misty kingdoms on the distant horizon like Benin and 'Abyssinia'.
Your analysis is very wrong and I believe written out of bias..
Equiano wrote his book in the 1700s which means he was born in that century..
Benin was already known as Benin in the 1700s.. Oranmiyan names the land Ile ibinu around the 12th century or earlier than that.
Benin influence was known to extend as far Ghana and Congo in both directions. We didn’t know that from Equiano.. Benin influence is still felt till today in most of these areas.
Early Europeans described Benin as a highly advanced society and Equiano describes it same too.
If he got all these from other people’s work like u say then he would have mentioned Oyo empire or Fulani.. but he focused only on Benin because that was the only kingdom/nation he knew and was born in..
An 11yr old is wise enough to understand and know the society and names around him.. He could have heard it sitting with his father or elders when they are talking..

1) Your right to agitation, deliberation or whatever is different from your right to self-determination. No such right exists anywhere in the world no matter how much you cry about it. Onitsha people can agitate for whatever they want, but without the consent of other Anambrarians, their cause would be a fruitless waste of time. That is the point.

2) To say a flag cannot be an act of provocation is reetarded. It depends on what the flag represents. Waving an Arsenal flag in a Nigerian game is different from waving a Biafran flag. The latter is clearly intended as a provocation and would be perceived as such by other people. Any mooron that goes to a football game (a leisure activity where people just want to have fun and enjoy themselves) to wave a politically inflammatory, divisive flag intends to provoke people.

If you like, keep up with advocacy for foolish provocateurs. This is why I tell many of you that your Biafran agitation is a fraud. You have no Biafran aspirations. You just love the attention of being nuisances. Cos if you reeeally cared about the cause you claim you care about, you would understand that except you can achieve your aim by warfare, you would need the support of other Nigerians to achieve your secessionist aim. Instead, you make enemies everywhere, provoke everyone and constitute an abhorrent nuisance that irritates even other fellow Igbos. Kwantinuu. I've already seen that most of you Biafran agitators are just attention-seekers. That's all.

By Shola Adekola - Lagos On Mar 27, 2019

As intrigues and counter-intrigues continue amongst members of the National Assembly over the sharing of positions in the coming ninth Assembly, the Senator-Elect for Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu on Wednesday declared that he would vie for the Senate President should the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not zone the deputy Senate President seat to South-East zone.

Kalu said the federal government cannot afford to edge out the South Eastern part of the country out of distribution of positions in the new dispensation.

Kalu while speaking with some journalists at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport yesterday, insisted that since the position of the Senate President (SP) had been allocated to the North West that the South East cannot settle for less than the Deputy Senate President (DSP) position.

According to Kalu, as a Senator representing a zone from South East, nothing will stop him from running for the position of the deputy senate president openly on the floor of the Senate.

“I want to respect the party’s wish on the Senate Presidency and the second position is what we are not going to allow to leave the South East. So as far as am concerned, in the South East, I am going to run openly on the floor of the House as Deputy Senate President. I am not going to listen to anybody. Nobody who is going to be the Deputy Senate President is more loyal than I am to the party.

“I learnt they ceded the DSP to the North West, but it is not right to do anything like that. We are going to contest this vehemently on the floor of the house. I have the backing of my colleagues. I am going to be withdrawing from the Senate Presidency to run for DSP because the party is supreme. Whether they gave it to an individual that is left for the party at the national assembly to decide, but for the DSP, I will contest with any candidate on the floor of the house.

“I know our Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a listening Chairman and President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of justice. So, if justice must prevail, you bring the Senate President from the North East and DSP from the South East. The chairman is from the South-South, the President is from the North West, the Vice President is from South West, the President of Senate will come from the North East, whether it’s Lawan or Ndume, these people will decide that on the floor of the House.

“So, for me, Nigeria is tripod; Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa. So, we are going to get the DSP and I will fight on the floor of the House like no other person has fought. This is not challenging the party, rather, this is looking for justice.

“Buhari said he will be addressing issues of injustice. This is part of the issues. You cannot tell us to go and be Chief Whip. I don’t have a whip to whip anybody. So, we will be very willing to add values to the nation. I am loyal to the people, I am loyal to Nigeria, which is important. I am not going to be loyal to individuals. You don’t build loyalty to a section of people or individuals.

Vowing to contest the Senate president position if the position of the deputy senate presidency is not zoned to the South East, Kalu declared: “I believe there is a co-existence between the religious people. So, I am not going to be DSP for anybody. Otherwise, if they don’t listen, I will also contest for the Senate President on the floor of the House. I will join the race because it is going to be a shopping matter. I can shop than any other person they are putting there. I have the capacity and capability to shop because the whole thing will be shopping on the floor of the House. If the party continues this way, I will run for the SP.

“Positions are part of representations. I am saying if we have DSP, it gives a sense of belonging to everybody. I am not saying I am representing a section. If they go to a meeting, you have the President, Vice President, Senate President and Deputy Senate President but you don’t have anybody to represent the South East. That is unfair and that is what I am saying.

“I am not a tribalist, but someone who is fair. I want justice. If the party doesn’t want a crack, they should zone it properly through the geopolitical zones of the country. A man who has taken the presidency is not supposed to take the Deputy Senate President.

“We are not going to quarrel, but we will sort it out. We are not going to vote PDP, you should be rest assured of that. We are going to vote for APC members for SP and DSP. I have friends everywhere. It will be a shopping matter. I have over 56 Senators on my radar who have already signed for me for either SP or DSP. They believe in equity.”
