Came prepared to castigate the o.p but after reading through, I've to say, 'O.p, you're on point'.
Summary (f d lazy asses), d south is it's own biggest problem.

One thing the North learnt from the colonialists, is the 'Divide and Rule' tactic and they have been using it so effectively till date.

Seriously we need to do proper census. The population figures in the north is a sham. Femi Aribisala made some valid points. If this election is to form the benchmark for predicting future elections, I'm afraid, north will rule this country until it ceases to exist.
Aribisala, like him or not, has raised Very Important points that I thought would be the basis of intelligent discourse but as usual, it's a replay of the usual ridiculous NL response, even by the self acclaimed intelligentsia, most of whom didn't bother reading the post.

it is well..
PoliticsRe: Why I’m Not Proud To Call Buhari My President — Aribisala by dBard: 12:27pm On Apr 19, 2015
GEJ was a good but remarkably weak president and that jeopardized so many things and that was y he failed,But....
There are are some salient points Aribisala has raised that needs looking into, and primary amongst them is d PVC issue.
We may act like it doesn't matter now due to party leanings forgetting that these are figures that'll be influential in future elections.
Also, I personally think he's right about the sectarian nature of the new ruling party. pdp with all it's failings was more of a national party but, especially with the zoning arrangements bin bandied about, the general impression here in d ss and se is as has been stated.

Eventually tho, wat we all need is good governance and a better Nigeri

Nice write up...valid points, especially the top 4, but
personally, I don't really see him delivering.
Yes, the political will might be there but Buhari shared meals with too many devils and that is something that gives me much concern.
Fingers crossed tho..

Praying he delivers for the good of all.

Bin Laden has made the list, more than once.

I personally do not care who makes any list.

My question to you and people like is - why do you keep acting surprised when Europeans display their bigotry/insensitivity? You should know by now that it is ingrained in their culture.

Why does their opinion matter so much to you?
It doesn't, but personally, I'll rather NOT get used to it so I can keep demanding for my respect than get used to it and let the 'bullshit' continue.

Terrorism is captivating.

That is why they do it, that is why they kill, to gain attention.

So yes, he is influential - he has captured the world's attention.

Just as Bin Laden did.

Just as the Red Brigade, Bader Meinhof and other European groups did in the 1970s.

Just as the IRA did.

Just as ETA have done.

Violence captures the imagination.
The ISIS commander/ leader Baghdadadi, is presently one of the most / if not the most influential person in the world right now, did he make d list??
Did Osama bin Laden, whose influence led to the creation of ISIS and Boko haram, ever make the listhuh
If the Times list is now also about the infamous, then they all should be included.
This is the Height of insensitivity...
and typical of the Whites double facedness , especially in all things African.

HungerBAD:
I personally voted against Jonathan because of his wife.

That woman is OUT OF CONTROL and another 4 Years of Power would have seen her slapping Governors.

Jonathan is a weakling of a man, and Nigeria do not need weaklings.

He should as a matter of priority first work on his home front, and then we can take him serious. A man that can not tell his wife to dial down the tone with her Bus/Garage Rhetoric's and antics is not a man.
I Absolutely agree with you.
Though I personally think GEJ would have been a better choice to the president elect, truth is, Jonathan was a weak president and his wife took advantage of that, to turn the country into her private hustle.
IT was simply embarrassing to watch.

Well ,the silly woman refused to think, and now where/what has she left, what is her legacyhuh

Anybody/publication that expected APC to win must've been high on cheap, homemade experimental crack and shows they don't understand the South South.

Whatever chance Dakuku /apc had was gone once GEJ lost the presidential. The state, both core pdp and soft apc supporters as a result were definitely going to give Wike (pdp) sympathy votes..so as not lose both ways..
add that to the massive unpopularity of Amaechi, and you'll find the result unsurprising.
ppl didn't vote against Dakuku, they voted out Amaechi.

One tins true about the South South..
We Are clannish to a fault.

I don't know why I have this feeling that amaechi is going to be dumped. Tinubu never liked him
Amaechi IS most likely going to be kicked to the curb, in a manner of speaking.
His disloyalty and garrulous nature will make many wary of appointing him in any sensitive position which can be used to further his ambitions.
Tinubu has a future battle@hand and I see him taking a potential troublemaker out of the equation asap.. .

Why is the violence mainly in the non - ikwerre/riverine areas? They know that is where DAKUKU has his strength.
Kalabari is pro PDP, that's the truth.
Dakuku is strong in phc lga, parts of ogoni (gokana) and the some of the outlying Lgas. Every other is pro PDP.
Tonye Princewill will share parts of the Riverine with pdp,
and mama P WILL Never allow apc pick Okrika, whether by hook or crook.

Interesting sha...watching tho.
PoliticsRe: APC To Ratify Buhari’s Ministerial List - Punch by dBard: 2:29pm On Apr 09, 2015
First of all, the question is whether Nigerians voted the party or the manhuh
Secondly, I don't see why the party should 'ratify' ministerial appointments wen we have the national assembly... aren't the majority so far APC members??

Dunno and maybe wrong, but I see in this the beginnings of the inevitable power play between the president and d party chieftain(s).

I think what will likely happen is that tinubu and co will try to rally round all senators from the south to their side, this means more pdp senators and reps will decamp to apc soon ,once this happens it will be a divided house and it will be south vs north. Obj and tinubu will be seen as the southern voices and leaders . The north and buhari may not likely get everything they want. I forsee a tough political duel between them .
...which doesn't portend well for the future of the country.
A house divided amongst itself........

Will be interesting to follow tho.

bros ,believe me buhari is not stupid and I know he is preparing for this , what is most likely to happen is that there will be a sharp division in the senate and house , most norther senators and reps will cue behind buhari so that their ppl will not see them as traitors . I believe buhari will toe tinubu line for a small time and once he gets enough support base he will change .
Honestly, I don't see Buhari controlling the National assembly.
Giving Buharis supposed nature, the national assembly will be the tool to check his 'excesses'.
Will the northern politicians, his support base, toe his linehuh Maybe, but all things considered, at the assembly level, I think Tinubu will have the edge. Already, an ally is in line to be Senate president, h.o.r next.

Politics is a selfish game... Buhari needs be smart.

Many nigerians are still wondering and looking at how buhari intends and plans to control the crooks and criminals that surrounds him and who helped him win the election. It will be a miracle if buhari is allowed to champion or carry out any real tangible anti corruption crusade.
Truth..
Buhari unfortunately shook hands and got in bed with so many strange bed fellows, and many more are still jumping ship to join the orgy.
The fallout btw Buhari and Tinubu is inevitable..The battlefield most likely will be the national assembly.

Hope Buhari hasn't chewed off more than he can handle.

That is the beauty of democracy. Not everyone tows the same line. Every citizen of this great nation has the right to vote for who ever they feel like. Your decision or process considered for selecting a candidate is your choice. Making hate statements in jest as we are now told is not acceptable. Regardless of the outcome of the election the winning candidate still has the civic responsibility of governing fairly and justly, both those who voted for and against his mandate.
Very well said.
