anjilgreat: After I lost over #500,000 from my shares investment in 2008, I made a projection and hoping that in ten(10) years time, which happens to be this year, that it would have improved so that I'll sell all because I actually deliberately did not want to monitor the NSE all this while out of annoyance and to avoid unnecessary tension.
I didn't want to depend on information from my then stockbroker, because he knew that the NSE as at that time were projecting false and cosmetic values and he encouraged me to invest and lose my investment. I stumbled into this thread on nairaland this year when I wanted to know if the NSE has improved so that I can sell all.
Thanks for the advice. I'll closely monitor the market from now henceforth since we have a lot of gurus in the house. Being emotional about the stock market is the most effective recipe for disaster and misfortune in it. Actions taken due to annoyance with the market are mostly irrational and end up backfiring badly. |

Abeg O!, take it easy so that you won't give some long term investors like us High B.P with your forecast. The Irony is that people thought they got it cheap at that price considering that it had just fallen from the >#70 it hit the previous year on account of dividend and bonus largese. NSE is really a funny place. |

Look at what brotherhood is all about. But for 6 years, ogogoro GEJ couldn't even clean up Ogoni land. He didn't even give portable water to his people building good roads for them.
Shame on GEJ! He was a shortsighted one-Nigerianist like his namesake Azikiwe. |

raumdeuter: Do you hear yourself? First it was they should give Ibos presidency or else they will sabotage the country, next give them Biafra or else. Why dont they go ahead and do things for themselves instead of waiting for others to do things for them Its like in an area, one man is coming out to tell the other neighbors to find him a job or else he will start stealing their belongings
Other people are going out there to scheme a way for them to become president, you want everyone to back up and give it to you
I asked you why is Ekweremadu not contesting for presidency and telling Saraki to be his VP? How many states does Saraki control? Just 1. Kwara. Ekweremadu can easily deliver 5 SE states All those contesting for Presidency in PDP now, How many of them can deliver 5 states? but he is giving up his 5 states bargaining chip to become VP to Saraki that can only guarantee 1 state
Yet you want people to come and gift wrap the presidency for you I must at this point commend your common sense driven and logic based superior arguments. Igos don't love themselves hence they are able to get neither president nor Biafra. I recall that beginning from 1999 after Igbos assisted their today's enemy North in robbing Ekweme of the PDP ticket for Obasanjo, and giving Obasanjo bloc votes in the general election, the front burner issue immediately became the prospect of Obasanjo rewarding them with the choosing of an Igbo successor in 2003 going by the PDP NWC's initial one-term-per-region arrangement which, when the time came, Obasanjo and Atiku discarded only for Igbos to, without any misgiving, re-programme their minds on the assumption that Obasanjo would finally honour the agreement in 2007. But when the time came again Obasanjo told them it was a gentleman's agreement. But rather than complain and threaten to reject the PDP, Igbos surprisingly were the first to endorse Yaradua the beneficiary of the botching of the gentleman's agreement. One would have expected that Yaradua demonstrated a sense of responsibility and compensation to Igbos by choosing an Igbo running mate. But he ended up picking Jonathan whose region's agitation for presidency was all too new compared with that of the SE which started in 1999. Again, rather than rightly eliciting rejections from them, Igbos rationalized it by beginning to lie to themselves that the SS and SE are brothers hence one and the same. Eventually GEJ accidentally clinched presidency and Igbos themselves totally buried the Igbo president prospect and took up the job of defending a SS presidency more than the SS people themselves. The few Igbos who reasoned and acted otherwise became an endangered species among their own kinsmen. With Jonathan's loss in 2015, Igbos wept more than the bereaved region. In the end, the Igbo presidency prospect originally billed for 2003 has now been reduced to a highly uncertain project of Igbo VP ticket against 2019 |

Victornezzar: What made Igbos not to vote in Buhari was because of the allegations against him back then in the civil war....They felt he isn't good 2 rule them that's why they opted for Jonathan even though some of us hated him bk then
We just need a leader that will treat us equally....That's all
Yaradua did that This excuse does not really fly because Igbos voted in blocs for OBJ in 1999 despite OBJ being as guilty as Buhari as regards the Civil War? Ironically Igbos rejected a Falae who never fought any war against them, in preference for Obasanjo who led troops into Igbo land killing countless innocents. |

We must stop the call for secession, get our loved ones to get their PVCs and vote.
South east doesn't need secession; we need restructuring
You can't be fighting a people yet you want to be their leader
I'm surprised that south south that owned Jonathan moved on yet the east has yet to move on That is one of the most surprising ironies in the political history of Nigreria. I have tried to solve that puzzle without success. |

Earlier this year (or last year I guess), Atiku cleared the air on his promise of restructuring. He implied that states would still rely on crude oil proceeds. I can't dig out that info now but son enough I will. You are right. I remember that contradictory position made by Atiku. He is just fooling himself. |

Does that mean I will have to go through everything? Chai I actually thought there’s a particular page someone will just check and get all the info . I will do as youve stated Thanks There's actually such a page....The Statement of Comprehensive Income or Profit and loss. However, in some cases it could be misleading to depend on that alone. For example a company might be in profits yet have a huge liability lurking somewhere that if considered makes the said profit peter into insignificance. So you have to read as many of the pages of figures as there are to have a well informed perception of the company in question. Though it is not easy especially for us from the sciences. |

NobodyKnows: Please I need help I think need some explanation. I’ve noticed people are always buying and selling stocks at prices that are far less than the quoted price . I really don’t understand why they are doing that And again , how do you people analyse the results? I always get headache when trying to check those things . Figures everywhere. You must be a science student like me. However, you just have to start anyhow and one day you'll start getting it. When I too just started, it looked more difficult and cumbersome than even the Calculus I did at secondary and tertiary levels. It looked like a scene of chaos. But by looking up the dictionary and Google for every technical terminology I began to unravel the mystery in financial reports. As per the disparities between the quoted and trading prices: I was told that there is what is called buying and selling at a premium. Also, the minimum volume required for movement plays a role in the seeming confusion you have. For example if a single trade of 100,000 units is required, according to NSE rules, for a stock to move up or down by the minimum or maximum differential allowed for a day, any trade less than 100,000 units may be done between the buyer and the seller at a price different from the quoted price but that change in price between them will not be regarded as an actual movement in price of the stock until another such trade is carried out involving 100,000 units or more. For some category of stocks it is 10,000 units and for others, 5,000 units in an inverse proportion relationship with their prices. |
