See below Ironsi's speech that killed the regions and finally destroyed Nigeria completely. It was three months after he assumed power through the barrel of the gun: It is within those three months that he left the regions alive and appointed military governors over them temporarily at the same time actually while planning to finally abolish them and replace them with his provinces.
Excerpts;

"Fellow Nigerians, during the past two weeks, I have presided over meeting of the Supreme Military Council and the Central Executive Council at which many important state matters were considered.
It is now three months since the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was handed over to the armed forces. Now that peace has been restored to the troubled areas it is time that the Military Government indicates clearly what it proposes to accomplish before relinquishing power. The removal of one of the obstacles on the way is provided for in the constitution (Suspension and Modification). Decree number 5 1966 which was promulgated by me today and comes into effect at once.
The provisions of the decree are intended to remove the last vestiges of the intense regionalism of the recent past, and to produce that cohesion in the governmental structure which is so necessary in achieving and maintaining the paramount objective of the National Military Government and indeed of every true Nigerian, namely; national unity.
The highlights of this decree are as follows:
1. The former regions are abolished and Nigeria grouped into a number of territorial areas called provinces.
2. Nigeria ceases to be what has been described as a federation. It now becomes simply The Republic of Nigeria............."

From the above is anyone still ready to keep blindly arguing that Ironsi did not abolish the regions, pulled down federalism and replaced it with an overwhelmingly strong centre, thus unitary system, all in the name of seeking a fraudulent "national unity" in line with "Zik's one Nigeria"?

Politics › Re: Ikwerre - Igbo - 22 MISINFORMATION ON IGBOS by Deadlytruth(m):
@Mr. 666, After describing the location of my Uneme-Nekhua town and giving you the name of our elite who honestly worked towards an equitable and fair Nigeria as you demanded, I was expecting your reply to contain an answer to my question too about which village you come from and what exactly were the contributions of the elites of that village towards seeing that unitary system never entered Nigeria and that Nigeria was set on the path of equity, freedom from internal power struggle and unhealthy rivalry. But in your usual escapist mode you completely abandoned that and fell into your usual trance of teeth gnashing and shedding of crocodile tears. Can you now see that you have failed woefully? Why not just be proud of that your village for at least once and therefore mention it and tell us who your MP was and what his contribution was towards the attempt to put confederacy in place like Enahoro, Igenuma, Arthur Prest, etc did by floating the 19 state structure/secession clause bill? Are you that ashamed of your village? I tell you again that I am from the town of Uneme-Nekhua and our MP Igenuma worked hand in hand with Enahoro and Arthur Prest in AG to openly and boldly demand for the kind of confederate Nigeria Ojukwu later sought at Aburi. I therefore challenge you again and again and again........ to name your village and tell us the name of your MP together with his contribution. Is this too much a demand? You've been the one asking me this, and now I've answered you. I am now asking you same but you are not able to answer. The hunter has become the hunted. What a game. Please name your village here on NL and tell us how elite of that village contribute to the attempt to stop Zik from endangering our future with unitary system advocacy disguised as "one Nigeria". Is your village nameless? Or it simply could not produce an MP? Please go and google search D.I.J Igenuma and bring back your results here. And then tell me your village's name and an elite from it so that I too can google search. Or are you their only elite whose activity is limited to NL?
Let me now puncture another lie of yours. Enahoro did not attend Aburi meeting, so he did not even have access to the resolutions reached there. How can he therefore renege on an accord he was never a party to? The video of Aburi is there on u tube. I've watched it repeatedly and did not see Enahoro there. Enahoro had none of the documents given to him or published in the papers for him to read. So what was his business about how it was allegedly scuttled? As at when Aburi meeting was holding he had just been released by Gowon from Zik-Balewa imprisonment and so just recuperating, thus not yet physically or emotionally okay to attend such a meeting where his intellect would be tasked again. So Enahoro could not have scuttled what he only heard of but never participated in.
On the Philip Asiodu you keep hammering; you have not been able to reproduce exactly what he allegedly said verbatim to Gowon that made Gowon capitulate. You keep posting individual's unsubstantiated claims. It is just like how Awolowo's speech of "If the East is allowed to go then the West will exit too...." was twisted to mean a promise of joint declaration of war with Ojukwu. Same distortions must have been the case with Asiodu's words on Aburi agreements on arrival in Nigeria, if not why has no single one of his accusers quoted him verbatim about his alleged advice to Gowon?
Now to your posers;

1. Explain why Awolowo was spared in
that coup.

Answer: Awolowo was not spared as he was not even targeted in the first instance. The coup was aimed at eliminating politicians like Zik, Balewa, Okotie-Eboh, Okpara, Akintola, etc; who were part and parcel of the misgoverning NPC-NCNC coalition government which Awolowo as a matter of principles consistently refused to partake in despite different offers to him to join. Awo's name was not in Nzeogwu's hit list. In fact Nwobosi later explained that they intended to free Awo and make him the prime minister as only Awo and his lieutenants like Enahoro could not be described as a mediocre among all the top politicians then both in and out of power.

2. Explain why Enahoro was spared in
that coup.

Answer: The explanation for Awo above also holds for Enahoro. He, like Awo, refused to be part of the mediocrity NPC-NCNC coalition of Zik and Balewa.

3. Explain why Yorubas like Ademoyega,
Fola Oyewole took part in that January
coup.

Answer: They, like Nzeogwu, were hoodwinked by Ifeajuna into believing that it was a truly nationalistic and patriotic endeavour without knowing that Ifeajuna, Don Okafor, Anuforo and Nwatuegu had tribal motives up their sleeves. Nzeogwu later confirmed it in his interview with Journalist Ejindu after his release from detention by Ojukwu. Have you ever wondered why these Yorubas had none of the targeted politicians assigned to them to kill? Why did Ifeajuna not detail these two Yorubas to kill Zik and Okpara the way he detailed Nwobosi to kill Akintola? You think it was due to mere oversight?

4. Explain why the coupists also killed
Col. Unegbe, an Igboman.

Answer: Unegbe was not originally billed to be killed. In fact he was not even discussed by the coupists at the planning stage. From the circumstances of his death he could be best described as a mere collateral damage.

5. Explain why the coupists didn't kill
Aminu Kano.

Answer: Was Aminu Kano part of the NPC-NCNC coalition government which politicians the coupists set out to liquidate?
6. How many Igbos/Easterners were in
Ironsi's brief tenure?
Answer: Very many.

7. Did Aguiyi Ironsi appoint an Easterner
to govern the Northern region or
Western/Midwestern regions?
Answer: Was he even supposed to appoint soldiers to govern the regions in the first instance rather than just rescue our democracy by simply replacing the slain premiers with their deputies and then accepting Dipcharima from NPC, installing him as Balewa's replacement and then exiting the stage as a gentleman and honest GOC? Do you think any military officer would have ever attempted any coup again in Nigeria if he had taken that honourable and heroic path as the GOC? Why take power for himself? Mind you that Ironsi centralized the civil service and started posting Easterners to the North to take up headship positions. Was that a sensible step given the tension soaked situation at that moment?
8. Did Aguiyi Ironsi move the Federal
Capital territory from Lagos to
Umuahia?

Answer: That is irrelevant. Location of capital has no unique benefit. When Federal Capital was in Lagos did it place the Yorubas at any special advantage over other Nigerian tribes? In fact it even caused them more harm than good.

9. Did Aguiyi Ironsi increase Eastern
region from 1 of 4 to 19 of 36 States or
even encroached the boundaries of other
regions to grab their lands?
Answer: He actually pronounced the death of the regions by decree 34 and split Nigeria into 35 provinces against public disapproval. Why disobey the wish of the people among whom you wanted to restore peace and mutual love?

10. Did Aguiyi Ironsi overthrow a
government and began jailing his
supposed enemies?
Answer: Yes he did by refusing to salvage democracy through accepting NPC's choice of Dipcharima as Balewa's replacement. His refusal to release all political prisoners and bring all of them to a roundtable, together with jailing and sentencing Boro to death answers the second part of the question.

Now answer my own questions as follows;

1. Why did Ifeajuna decide to go ahead with coup when information had got to him that Zik, a major target in Nzeogwu's hit list, had traveled out of the country three months back and was not sure the day he would return?

2. At the planning stage the coupists agreed that only those who resist arrest would be killed. Why did Ifeajuna still shoot Okotie-Eboh and Balewa despite they did not resist arrest? In fact at the point of his liquidation along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Okotie-Eboh begged Ifeajuna for mercy but Ifeajuna declined. Why?

3. Dennis Osadebey was the first to sabotage the all-south UPGA movement by working for the Akintola-Balewa NNA followed by Zik. The coupists were sympathetic to UPGA. Now why did Ifeajuna drive past Benin City without just stopping over to Kill Dennis Osadebey? Moreso that Osadebey was also part of the NPC-NCNC coalition from day one.

4. Why did Ifeajuna refuse to just kill Okpara on arrival in Enugu that day?

5. Why did Ifeajuna and Don Okafor run out of Nigeria after the coup failed whereas Nzeogwu stayed back?

6. Why did ironsi decide to further strengthen the centre when he knew that the centre's abuse of power regarding Western Region's purely internal affair was what caused the whole anarchy in the first instance?

6. Why couldn't Ironsi, within six months, prosecute and sentence the Igbo coupists to death for their treasonable felony and mutiny whereas within two weeks he fiercely fought and arrested Isaac Boro (a non-Igbo who committed a far lesser offence), and within another two months had secured his death sentence through the Supreme Court?

7. Why did Ironsi begin to nurse the idea of altering the structure of governance when what caused the problem on ground had nothing to do with structure but with mere disagreements over who formed alliances with who?

8. Why did Ojukwu not add his voice to that of the Northern officer sent by Northern emirs to Ironsi to demand a repeal of the Unification and Anti-secession Decrees?

9. Why did Ojukwu not press Ironsi to declare Biafra when the first set of Igbos were massacred in May 1966 right under Ironsi's nose as HOS?

10. Even if ironsi felt a constitution review was necessary why could he not re-invite the original drafters to come and do it themselves and that way secure the public's trust that he was not up to a game?

However you can't distract me with this. Name your village and its MP and state his contribution to the fight against Zik's push for unitary system which was the biggest calamity staring Nigeria directly in the face and waiting to happen back then. I am waiting again............. !

THE ACTION OF ENAHORO IN SCUTTLING THE CONFEDERATION PLAN - Tanko Yakassai
http://nigerianpilot.com/restructuring-calls-fears-igbos-yakassai/

FEMI ADESINA - Friday March 02, 2012
"...As his earthly remains are interred today, it is tragic that Nigeria is still submerged in the morass that Ojukwu already identified about 45 years ago. Today, bombs go off like firecrackers in the country... Didn’t Ojukwu warn of these landmines ahead? Were all these issues not already settled at Aburi? Foremost journalist and media administrator, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, in a recent media interview, explained the Aburi Accord this way: “Let every region be semi-autonomous and develop at its own level.” Yes, that was the spirit and letter of Aburi, but which sadly became a road not taken. And is that not why we are still suffering today, living in a rickety and decrepit country that can burst at the seams any moment? I tell you, Ojukwu was a prophet, and like most prophets, he had no honour in his own country. Pity. But whether we like it or not, there’s no way we won’t return to Aburi. Willy-nilly. I only hope it will be sooner than later, before Nigeria goes to grief. On Aburi I stand.

Federal Government was perfidious and duplicitous on Aburi. It is still the same way today. That is why as Nigerians, we are most times disillusioned, dismayed, dispirited, dejected and depressed. When will change come to this land? Our hearts are getting weary.

Last December, I wrote that Ojukwu should be buried like a hero. I’m glad at the rites of passage so far, culminating in the interment today. Yes, bury him like a true hero. An icon, an avatar, deserves no less. This generation will surely not see another like Ojukwu. He fought not only for his own people, but for a true federation founded on justice, fair play, equity and rectitude... Adieu the Ikemba, the Eze Igbo Gburugburu. May your soul rest in peace. Ka nkpur’obi gi zue ike n’adukwa."

You edo people need to be banned from travelling abroad"
Edos are neither skilled nor educated but Eropean and North American countries still grant them visas despite the possession of skills and education is the most important criteria for visa qualification? Then how do they get the visas by which they travelled and now need to be deported back home?
Mere looking at that write up it is clear from the half-baked pidgin presentation that it a pack of concocted lies by an Igbo man like you. The pidgin is too dry, fake and artificial for the speech to really be a Niger Deltan's. As an Edo person I can easily recognize a non-Edolite's and a non-Deltan's pidgin when I hear or read it. There are so many archaic pidgin slangs in that write up which have long been replaced with new ones in Edo/Delta pidgin parlance. A fake pidgin rendering of a speech from an Igbo man's imagination! Anyway, you tried. Please try again.
All these you said above are pure trash. Are Igbos not the ones languishing in jails all over Europ
e, North America and SE Asia for drug trafficking and also being murdered in South Africa? How many Edolites have you ever heard were arrested at MMIA with drugs the way Igbos are? Even Dora Akunyili confessed that Igbos are the manufacturers of fake medicines in Nigeria. All the fake pharmaceutical factories and fake drugs she destroyed and impounded were located in the South East. How many fake medicines did she, as NAFDAC boss, find in Edo state? Yes Edo girls started prostitution overseas due to the damaging effects the Nigerian economy came to suffer as a result of the unitary system introduced by your Zik and Ironsi. However, Igbo girls have taken over international prostitution while Igbo boys are the drug barons and kingpins.

For the sake of your Ignorance, please ask any genuine Deltan how Bendel got split into Edo and Delta. The Edo part actually submitted the memorandum that demanded that the Delta part be split off them. So your claims here of Deltans' hostility towards Edos is pure fallacy. In fact at a point the Ishekiris began to wish it was possible for them to cut back into Edo State. If you have ever heard of "Edowa" movement among Itshekiris, that's the meaning. Deltans harbour no grudge against Edo and vice versa. In fact there are still itsekiri, Urhobo and Ijaw enclaves in Edo State till today. The Okomu area of Edo state is an Ijaw enclave. Urhobos, Itsekiris, Isokos and even some Aniomas proudly identify Benin as their ancestral home till today. When we named Edo "The heartbeat of the Nation" Delta named theirs "The big heart" to reflect a relationship with Edo. We did not force them to do so. In fact we did not even know when they did it. We only woke up to see it. If the splitting of Edo and Delta was based on acrimony and oppression by Edos then there is no way Deltans (who are known to be very reactive to oppression) would have taken a nickname indicating brotherhood with Edo. Ever after the split it is even Deltans that seek more to identify with Edolites than the other way round. This due to their recognition of Benin as their root. Ask any Deltan you know. There is no coronation ceremony of any new monarch in Delta State (even among Aniomas) that Deltans themselves consider properly done and acceptable to them without the arrival and witnessing of it by delegates from the Oba of Benin's palace. When the Olu of Warri died recently at the same time with Oba Eradiawa the Itsekiris had to wait patiently till a new Oba was installed before installing their own new Olu since the Oba's delegates have an integral role to play in the installation of any Olu of Warri who refers to the Oba as his father. Ask any Itsekiri man you know. Till today, professional farmers of Delta State origin all move to Edo State to farm. However Edos dare not chestbeat about all these as igbos would have done were they in our shoes. It is Deltans that rather confess these facts with their own mouths while any Edo person around would just remain quiet and unassuming about it. I myself, as an unassuming Edo person, would not have said all these but for your Ignorance. So each time you try to play up Delta State against Edo state your Ignorance only gives me fun.
What I discover here is that you are not stable. Those Yoruba soldiers interviewed in your links obviously wanted to please igbo readers like you hence deliberately avoided mentioning the fact that Nigeria's 1960 constitution was okay and working fine but that Aguyi Ironsi and the same Ojukwu were the first to mutilate it only for Ojukwu to later begin to seek a reversal to the status quo ante through his Aburi Accord proposals.
. Now you yourself have confessed that many Yorubas fought on Biafra's side. So there were these many Yorubas who fought on the side of Biafra yet you Igbos still so much insult Yorubas and call them names like cowards, saboteurs, etc? Then it means you people are incurable ingrates. On the other hand common sense should have told you that the other few Yorubas who fought against Biafra did it as a matter of personal conviction and not on behalf of all Yorubas as you now want everyone to believe. In fact from my reserch I found out that the Yorubas who fought together with Igbos for Biafra far outnumbered the ones who fought against it. Now, in the philosophy of democracy such should naturally translate to mean that Yorubas supported and defended Biafra. But Igbos have taken the action of a tiny minority of Yorubas as representative of the whole against the majority which were on their side. Is that the kind of tribe you want any other tribe in Nigeria to identify with in future and lend support to in their current quest for Biafra and restructuring? A tribe that will forever remain ungrateful because of the action of one person when even 99 others were on their side? Then something is clearly wrong with those people. I think Igbos urgently need introspection. Even God hates ingratitude.
That means Yorubas are even being falsely accused of scuttling Biafra. Well, that serves Yorubas right because Yorubas always bent too much backwards to accommodate and please Igbos even though they knew Igbos never really loved them. Every tribe has now learnt never to carry another's burden more than the owner, thus each tribe is now back to their tent and answering their father's name. No more Southern interest. All people to themselves!
Let me now cure your Ignorance. Uneme-Nekhua is not a tribe but a single settlement within the larger Edo tribe. I see you have been fooling yourself thinking Uneme-Nekhua is a tribe of its own despite that from the beginning I was proud to state it and explain it to you that I am from Uneme-Nekhua. This is a town located 8km SSE of Ibillo where vehicles enroute Abuja from/to Lagos make an important turn in direction.
In fact all the different peoples of the current Edo State and most parts of Delta were all clans within the Benin Kingdom but later peacefully and without bloodshed migrated radially away from Benin due to dissatisfaction with policies of different Ogisos at different times.
Now, the most sincere, earliest and most proactive contribution to salvaging Nigeria was by an Edo person, Enahoro who with the assistance of Igienuma ( a co- MP and AG member representing one of the colonial divisions which is now part of Edo North where Uneme community People are found in 9 towns interspersed among other equally migrant clans from Benin) - proposed a 19 state structure with each state's boundary carved along ethnic compatibility lines in order to put a check on undue cross-tribal interferences thus clashes of culture and daily bloodshed which have become Nigeria's lot till tomorrow. Enahoro -An Ishan himself - working with Igienumah, also proposed the secession clause which was not necessarily aimed at breaking up Nigeria but aimed at helping to instill the fear of the consequences of misgovernance in all our future leaders whoever they would be and whichever part of Nigeria they might come from.
The truth is that most Edo and Delta MPs of the AG back then worked together with Enahoro to build the 19 state structure proposal and secession clause document based on a careful study of the ethnic diversity and compatibility they undertook. They only let Enahoro be the one to float it before the parliarment because Enahoro had become the most popular among them for earlier pioneering the call for independence.
But your "One-Nigerianist" elites led by Zik denounced these proposals of theirs and called them tribalists for these farsighted contributions that would have forestalled today's recurrent and intractable bloodshed and set Nigeria on the path to world economic and military power status. With that Zik and his ilk set Nigeria on the reverse gear and inspired our young military men with unitary system which got introduced by Ironsi and perpetrated by Ironsi, Gowon, Murtala, OBJ, Shagari, Buhari, IBB, Abacha, Abdulsalam, OBJ, Yaradua and even Jonathan.
Now be sincere and proud enough to name your own village or hamlet, describe its location as I have done of mine, mention the colonial division it belonged to, mention the name of the MP representing it back then and tell us exactly what contributions he made in the parliarment towards seeing that unitary system was prevented from ever coming into Nigeria. Also tell us if that your MP was ever labelled a tribalist by Zik for advocating federalism or confederacy.
I am waiting.

The Notorious Deadlytrash of NL, stop forming any familiarity with anything Igbo. You're not needed in Igbo gathering. Edo was simply used to complete SS. Edo is geographically and culturally not SS. Edo is more or less SW.

No genuine Urhobo person would deny Bini Origin. Only an Igbo man disguising as Urhobo would do so out of ignorance or mischief. However you have refused to answer my questions on why Zik and Igbos wanted a unitary and "detribalized" Nigeria against the dictates of his Anthropology profession. Is it that you have no answer to it but quietly acknowledging that Igbos were never sincerely pursuing a just and equitable Nigeria but a "One-Nigeria" where they'll rip all others off?

As a dimwitted bigot parading as having a good knowledge of Nigeria history, you alleged that I made the comment of Britain frightening Gowon into refusing to let Nigeria split in 1966. I have asked you to make available the post where I made the comment and you have refused instead diverted to inanities to hide your cluelessness.

You have remained inconsistent and evasive in your analysis of Nigeria history. As a deluded ab0ki ass-licker you tried to bamboozle your readership by insinuating that Aguiyi Ironsi and the generality of Nigerians, including the Christian community, assembled to produce the fraudulent 1999 constitution replete with 73 mentions of Sharia, Islam - 28 mentions, Muslim - 10 and no single mention of anything Christ, Christian or church. In all your studies you couldn't lay your hands on the Nigerian constuition to understand that the country you call your own is an Islamic State.

You must be a hopeless dimwit who still thinks every other Nigerian is as deluded and ill-educated a savage as you are.

Frustrated demonic agent, your useless theses and theories of absurdity have failed to explain the reasons you treacherous backst*bbers cannot boast of any meaningful contributions to the progress of this country.

You have failed and refused to mention any Uneme-Nekhua elite that made any input to Nigeria Independence.

You have cowardly and snakishly avoided to mention any attempt by Uneme-Nekhua elites to salvage this contraption from heading to the rocks.

You have persistently failed to relay to your fans how you devilish cultists have countered the maiming and killings of your kinsmen for fun for decades by the marauding herdsmen.

One of the main reasons you have refused to comment on the above is that you verm1ns and vagabonds have helped to destroy this entity and brought it into ruins by your perpetual ass-licking stance.

Confused hypocrite parading with endless lies and propaganda on NL, Igbos are not your mates. You and your deluded clan are no match to even a quarter of an LGA in Igboland.

You can see that at the rate you've ranting senselessly madness has been chasing you up and down. Go have your brain thoroughly checked by a brain expert for a remedy so you can stop wasting your time raving and ranting foolishly and senselessly on NL.

I still maintain that you didn't suck your mother's bosoms and definitely grew up at the orphanage without a father figure. That's one of the fallouts of being an offspring of an Italian ashee and a diabolic armed robber in the pedegre of Lawrence Anini.

Igbos are not interested in parasites, traitors or genocide conspirators. The Igbo struggle is strictly for hardworking achievers and goal-getters, and not for lazy Uneme-Nekhua criminals who have only survived by being stooges and weak-minded fellows.

Diabolic scammer and murderous parasite, the atrocious deeds of your treacherous backstabbing kinsmen made the Aniomas severe union with you witches and occultists.

Your wickedness will surely find you murderous parasites out. There's no hiding for murderers of Anioma people. You shall reap your evils sooner than later as you spend the rest of your miserable lives with your Fulani masters in OduaArewanistan republic.
Karma is standing sentry at your door post already.

@36xtr906 a.k.a 666, you have continually refused to address the issues raised. Aburi Accord was an afterthought by Igbos when they woke up to the rude shock that they had become victims of the very unitary system they themselves forcefully introduced.
The question now is: Why did Igbos initially kick against federalism and even organize a coup by which they placed a military man in power to dismantle it when their attempt to get that done by democratic means failed?
If Zik and all Igbos had simply abandoned "One-Nigeria" and allowed Nigeria to be as many as it could be through federalism and cannonization of secession clause there would have been no need for Aburi Accord.
Igbos' advocacy of Aburi Accord was a case of returning to their own vomit.

Of course Enahoro was not billed to live by igbos' whims and caprices. All other tribes decided to teach you people a bitter lesson for ever dismantling federalism and replacing it with unitary system against public disapproval.
With 50 years of unitary system now you people have bitterly learnt that Ironsi and Zik were just dishonest and fooled you Igbos by ever advocating unitary system and forcefully introduce it into Nigeria.
The deadly truth is that without being made to learn from the practical experience of the last 50 years Igbos would not have ever been convinced that unitary system was unworkable for Nigeria even though they read it in books. If the other tribes had not taught you that bitter lesson of subjecting you to unitary system and its evils you people would by now still have been rooting for unitary system claiming, like Zik, that federalism would elevate tribalism over nationalism.
But now you have seen for yourself directly that it is even unitary system that elevates tribalism over nationalism and promotes loopsidedness in the polity, hence your voice is now loudest in asking for a return to the same federalism you people dismantled and replaced with this unitary system.
Experience, they say, is the best teacher. Thanks to Enahoro and the rest who subjected you to that ugly experience. At least in the last confab Igbos never foolishly argued again like Zik that the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable and that federalism would promote tribalism.
However it is shameful that it took 50 years of bitter experience of experimenting with unitary system for a tribe to be convinced that federalism is actually better for us as a heterogeneous country despite the fact that members of that tribe had already read such in books. What a tribe!

@36xtr90r, your moniker is a very satanic one and a disguised variant of the 666 identity of the biblical beast.
The digits 3, 6, 9 and 0 in your moniker add up to give 18 which is same as 6+6+6 i.e. 666.
Again the letters 'x', 'r' and 'r' in your moniker are the 24th, 18th and 18th alphabets which all are multiples of 6. So taking the HCF of 6 in each we get 666 again.
There is also a "t" in your satanic moniker. T is 20th alphabet while x is the 24th. Now subtracting t from x i.e. 20 from 24 correspondingly, we get 4 which when multiplied by two gives 8 which stands for the total number of characters in your ugly and satanic moniker.
If you were not an agent of the devil parading on NL then how come your name is a weird and unpronounceable jumble of satanic numbers and alphabets?

Did I read you say that the London constitutional conference of 1957 attended by all parties and constituencies' representative did not satisfy all the criteria for a "We the people" constitution? Then how else is a "We the people" constitution drafted? I guess by Ironsi's
style of using decrees in some cases and using an all Igbo military/civilian members committee in others when there was no public demand for constitution review.

You have not been able to logically respond to a single one of the issues I raised. All you have responded with are wailing and gnashing of teeth about how you will fulfil Zik's prophesy of living the rest of your satanic life in a non-negotiable Biarewa Republic with your Hausa-fulani brothers in a manner reminiscent of the NPC-NCNC alliance in which Igbos were used by Hausa-Fulanis as menstruation pads and toilet papers to do the very dirty job of assisting them to jail southerners and after being used were disposed into the dustbin of Nigeria politics of irrelevance till today exactly the way sanitary pads are thrown into the dustbin after use. If you were sincere I expected you to prove me wrong with hard facts that Zik, Ojukwu and Okpara were born in Igbo land; that Ironsi did not dismantle federalism and pioneered the mutilation of the "We the people" constitution we started with; that Zik did not sell his birthright to the Feudalist North for which Igbos suffer the consequences till eternity; that Igbos did not try to fool others with "One-Nigeria sloganeering at a time they knew deep down in their hearts that Nigeria was not really one; etc. You have not done this yet you claim you are puncturing my arguements? You are only puncturing your own lies and cuboid shape brainless cranium.

Here are some very hard logical facts proving that Igbos were never sincere but were simply greedy and plotting to re-colonize Nigeria at the exit of the white man, and then lord it over all other tribes:
1. Zik, the leader of Igbos, read Athropology from the US. Anthropology is a humanity discipline which studies the variations and evolutional history of different tribes and their cultures with the view to finding ways by which peoples of different and even opposing cultures can co-exist peacefully together peacefully without a clash of culture thus the attendant war and bloodshed. To this end Anthropology has it as one of its core precepts that for there to be peaceful coexistence among peoples of different cultures within the same country, each tribe must acknowledge and respect every other tribe's cultural beliefs and ways of life no matter how strange they may mutually appear. But the Zik who knew all this by virtue of the fact that he read Anthropology and even lectured in it for sometime in the US returned to Nigeria and started preaching and rooting for a "One-Nigeria" where each tribe will abandon its culture and become all "Nigerians and nationalists". Zik went as far as meeting Ahmadu Bello and saying to him, "Let us forget our cultural differences" and move on". An Anthropologist saying such a thing? Did he read it in any of his course content that culture can be forgotten and thrown away? It took Ahmadu Bello who read Secretarial Studies to remind Zik of the principle of Anthropology by replying him, saying, "No! no! no! no!...... You don't move forward by forgetting your culture. I am a Hausa Moslem from the North while you are an Igbo Christian from the South. We rather have to understand and respect our cultural difference for us to genuinely move forward as a truly strong nation. Anything short of that will lead to bloodshed."
Ahmadu Bello did not read Anthropology but by intuition and his sincerity he found himself teaching Zik his (Zik's) own course of study. What a shame! If Zik was sincere and was really pursuing a peaceful, equitable and prosperous Nigeria then he was supposed to be the last person to preach "One-Nigeria" given the course he read. But for the fact that he was trying to fool other tribes into being subdued and enslaved by his own Igbo tribe he started preaching the direct opposite of what his profession clearly recommends for a diverse country like Nigeria. Was that a sincere person?
University courses are meant to be read and the knowledge gained therein applied to solve societal problems. But our own Anthropologist applied his knowledge in the reverse order and upside-down'. Then of what use was his education?
2. Anthropology also recommends that in an ethnically diverse society like Nigeria, mechanisms must be put in place by the central government to limit and control unnecessary inter tribal intrusions until many years after the cultural barriers are broken like it did in the US and other highly ethnically diverse countries.
But the Zik who knew this by virtue of the course he read left his own home region and went on an intrusion into the Western Region seeking to rule them as an alien. He claimed he was justified to intrude because he too had made a Fulani man a Mayor in Enugu. However, as an Anthropologist he forgot that what his own Igbo tribe's culture could tolerate in the form of being ruled by an alien it might not be tolerable by the Yoruba culture hence as an anthropologist had to respect that Yoruba cultural belief. But rather than simply understanding and accepting his rejection by yorubas thus going back to his own Eastern Region he, against the dictates of his profession, started inspiring his Igbo brothers into labelling Yorubas as tribalists for rejecting him. So much for an anthropologist!
3. While in the US Zik also studied Christian Religious Knowledge by virtue of which he learnt that Esau, on according to biblical account, sold his birthright and could never buy it back again thus living the rest of his life miserable. But he returned to Nigeria to, out of Esua-like greed after mere cabinet portfolios, sell his birthright of Prime Minister position to Tafawa Balewa thinking that with time he would be able to buy it back bigger and better, but ended up putting his own Igbo brothers in miserable state till today just like Esau. Similarly Zik was the eldest to, Balewa, just as Esau was elder to Jacob to whom he sold his birthright to.
4. It is a core principle in Political Philosophy that the ONLY workable system for a multi-ethnic society is federalism thus very weak centre and very strong periphery. Before Zik travelled to the US to school he read about this in Government textbooks in his form 3 in secondary school. On getting to the US he also came across it severally in his course of study. In fact while in the US he heard no one preach "One America" but saw federalism being practised and yielding excellent results of peaceful co-existence among ethnically diverse Americans and rapid development of America into a super power status. But the same Zik returned to a similarly ethnically diverse Nigeria to advocate unitary system where the centre would be overwhelmingly strong with the regions under the centre's mercy. He claimed that federalism would elevate tribalism over nationalism whereas he made no such observation in the US where he had seen raw federalism in practice. Was that a sign that Zik was genuinely interested in the development of Nigeria or the re-colonization of it by him and his Igbos? The irony of it all was that ALL Igbos joined him to demand unitary system in a multi-ethnic Nigeria. Not a single Igbo man objected to Zik's dishonesty. It was just too unfortunate that a tribe that paraded some of the most accomplished intellectuals back then was the one that was recommending unitary system for an ethnically diverse country under the subterfuge of "One Nigeria". Was that an indication that those people were sincere? 5. Regions were created by the colonial masters in response to the demand for self rule by Nigerians. Self rule simply meant that each region would rule itself by its own people and not outsiders. Now as a learned man Zik knew the meaning and implication of self rule but he and his fellow Igbos left their own region seeking to rule the Western Region. Then what was the essence of creating the regions if one may ask him? Was that a sign that man and his brothers had any iota of sincerity in them? Why want to rule other when you had your own region also carved out for you?
6. The Nzeogwu coup was remotely precipitated by events in the Western Region which were themselves caused by the interference of the centre in the internal affairs of the Region. Had the Balewa- Zik coalition not interfered but allowed the matter run its natural course the Anarchy that later enveloped the region would not have been. Now, after the failed coup, Aguyi Ironsi came claiming he was on a mission to arrest the anarchy and return peace. At that point if it was even right for him to tamper with the constitution then common sense and logic dictated that he should have further weakened the centre whose abuse of power to interfered in the internal affairs of a region led to the whole anarchy. But rather than do so he, against logic, dismantled federalism and replacing it with unitary system which made the centre even stronger than before. Was that an indication that he to, as another Igbo man, was sincerely pursuing the progress and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians?

If not for greed and ulterior motive to re-colonize others, why were Igbos always acting against common sense and clearly defined academic principles that are known to guarantee good governance?

Until you address these issues raised above one after the other and explain why Zik, Ironsi and all other Igbos always acted against recommended by academic principles I will not take you seriously.

Enahoro, Akenzua, Philip Asiodu,
Edwin Clarke, Enahoro and Saro-Wiwa in conjunction with the Yoruba elites colluded with their Northern masters to shortchange the better South.

Saro-Wiwa was murdered by the same Northerners whom he colluded with. Edwin Clarke has been rendered useless and irrelevant in Nigeria of today as his Nigerdelta region continues to be exploited, ravaged, pillaged, tramped, looted and destroyed. Enahoro spent his last days on earth trying in vain to clamour for the very thing he (Enahoro), Akenzua, Philip Asiodu, Saro-Wiwa and the likes joined the enemy to scuttle. Enahoro died as a nobody. The Nigeria government did not accord him special burial. There was virtually no foreign news media of repute that carried the news of his death.

Fetish inbred slave from an inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua clan, it's really appalling that you've mortgaged your brain with that of a calf. Right now it seems you don't even know that your mouth is completely glued to the smelly orifice of your ab0ki slave masters.

Nevertheless, your endless rantings on NL cannot prevent you and your deluded Uneme-Nekhua people from spending the rest of your miserable lives with your Fulani masters.

You deludedly and shamefully decided to use the large size of Oyo State to grandstand senselessly against Igboland. You most likely didn't suck your mother's bosoms and grew up at the orphanage without a father figure.
I understand you're still reeling and suffering from the deadly blows I gave you in my previous post for that epic blunder of the millennium you made.

In your quiet time, honestly ask yourself, "of what use is my big oblong conehead when my brain is not up to that of a fish?"

Really, your Fulani masters must have overfed you to stupor with a concoction of cow urine and dung to continue to write gibberish in their defence.

Here's a rare opportunity for you dimwitted bigot to understudy the economic progress being made in Igboland.

You can keep re-posting your vain repetitions. See how you contradicted yourself above? I thought you've been claiming that it was Britain that frightened Gowon into refusing to let Nigeria split in 1966. But now your story has changed again to Edo and Delta being responsible for same. So at the meeting with Gowon the Edo and Delta representatives pointed guns at every other tribe's representatives' heads and threatened to shoot them if they decided to vote for a split of Nigeria? Or that Edo/Delta votes alone were more than those of Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo thus they triumphed in that meeting when the decision was put to vote? When you read interviews read with sense and between the lines. Try to get some grey matter into that empty skull of yours.
If it was Edo/Delta that held you back in Nigeria through that meeting with Gowon as you stupidly now claim, then why have you been raining curses on Awolowo for same? Was Awolowo from either of Edo and Delta? Inconsistent fool like you. So you even assumed all this while that Edo/Delta prevented Nigeria's break-up thus Igbos' "freedom" from Nigeria yet you igbos have been forcefully including Delta State in your future Biafra maps? It only proves that your quest for Biafra both then and now is hinged on cornering Niger Delta oil to yourselves and not really about Igbo freedom. If not why hold so firmly onto Deltans who as part of Midwest,"betrayed" you in 1966 at the meeting with Gowon? It was also like how the North killed thousands of Igbos in 1945 and '53 and yet Igbos later kept forcefully seeking unity and alliance with the same North thereafter. Your blind greed of yesteryears has not really left you till today, and it will do you in once more. Only insane people keep seeking fellowship with those whom they claim betrayed them. I don't get it at all. What is really wrong with Igbos mentally? Are they so hungry that they can easily forget the past once they see prospects to gain from others? This is a strange kind of greed and short memory. If ater just 9 years of Hausa carnage on Igbos caused by Zik's self enslavement to the Northern Oligarchy, Alex Ekweme could willingly agree again to be Shagari's slave then you people are simply beyond salvage.
You claim Igbos will not accept even presidency from Nigeria? The Igbos I know or another set of Igbos yet to come? The same Igbos that have for over a year now wept uncontrollably and nearly killed themselves over the loss of Nigeria presidency by GEJ who is not even an Igbo man in the first instance? Then how terribly would Igbos have mourned had GEJ been an Igbo? Yet Igbos would not accept presidency of Nigeria. Actions, they say, speak louder than words. How many Igbos asked for Biafra while Ironsi was ruling Nigeria? Not even Ojukwu, the eventual Biafra war lord, believed in Biafra while his brother (Ironsi) ruled over Nigeria.
Igbos want to exit Nigeria yet you are ready to keep take opportunities in other parts of Nigeria and in Uneme land which you claim is a land of witchcraft. Then what exactly is your point? So Igbos are ready to take opportunities among witches? No wonder you people have remained back in the North till today taking "opportunities" and paying with your blood! What does it profit a tribe to take opportunities and yet lose their lives? Very illogical and preposterous assertions by this nameless Biafra.
You have only been whipping your own ass here by your self contradictions.

You keep crying that Enahoro, Akenzua, Asiodu and other Edos refused to stick out their heads for you when the repercussion of your greed came calling. Who would in his right senses stick out his head for a people who kept on befriending the North for many years after the North had started killing them?
Wole Soyinka sacrificed his own comfort and safety of his dear life to stick out his head for you Igbos. He campaigned against foreign arms supply to the federal side. He got imprisoned by Gowon throughout the War period for sticking his head out for Igbos. His prison experience was so harrowing. He commenced hunger strike in addition to the solitary confinement he suffered. It got to a point when the resulting dehydration made his legs and face to start caking and cracking from the resulting malnourishment that he had to start using as cream the margarine bought for him to eat bread. This was aimed at soothing the cracks as he was denied access to his doctor. At a point he was to be taken into an helicopter and liquidated in flight all because he stuck his head out for Igbos who were merely suffering the repercussion of their greed and wicked ambition to re-colonize Nigeria. When he was finally released he was a bag of bones dead among the living and living among the dead.
But what did Igbos do for him in appreciation? Do igbos not insult him today? Do they not call him names? Have the ingrates ever made him a special guest of honour in any gathering to advocate Biafra? Has Nnamdi Kanu ever appreciated him in all his unprovoked vitriolic attacks against everyone? Wole Soyinka exercised his freedom of opinion to campaign on Biafra's side at the risk of becoming enemy and felon to Gowon. But when he exercised the same freedom of opinion to mildly criticize Jonathan who was not even an Igbo man, all hell was let loose against him by the same ungrateful Igbos for whom he stuck out his head. What insult did Igbos not throw at him? And those were the kind of ingrates you wanted Enahoro, Akenzua and Asiodu to stick their heads out for?
Wole Soyinka stuck out his head for igbos back then because by his age as of then he was still too young and inexperienced about how ungrateful Igbos could be. But Enahoro, Akenzua and Asiodu had the wisdom and experience afforded by age and so they knew Igbos were incurable ingrates thus were not worth worrying a bit about.

Was it only Osun that owed salaries in accumulation? Are Abia, Bayelsa, Benue, Imo, etc not as well owing their workers to the point of the workers as well depending on donations. Has Osun not even partially found a way around its own by paying 50% monthly?
If not for extreme stupidity and flat head induced ignorance you would have known that the owing of salaries by a state government is not an indication of lack of resources in that state but the unitary system which your greedy brothers, Zik and ironsi, foisted on us led to all states depending on federal allocation revenue derived from only oil and sliding into atrophy once oil prices plummet?
Has a fool like you ever wondered whether the Western and Northern Regions owed their workers salaries while we practised regional federalism before you heartless, wicked and anti-progress Zik and Ironsi changed us from resource control to unitary system? Why is Bayelsa too owing despite its huge federal allocation? Why is Rivers currently surviving on repeated borrowings despite its huge oil revenue allocation from the centre? If Zik and Ironsi had not tampered with our purely federal constitution do you think Osun state, with its gold deposits, Rivers and Bayelsa would have ever owed their workers?
Uneducated literacy is your problem!

Of what use is your big conehead when your brain is not up to that of a fish?

Your Fulani masters must have overfed you to stupor with a concoction of cow urine and dung to continue to write write gibberish in their defence.

Of what good is the size of Oyo State when Ebonyi is more developed than it? FYI, the smallest of the SE States, Anambra, is larger than Lagos in landmass.

You can imagine how you shameless propagandists even bragged about Osun State having IGR far greater than the IGR of the entire SE States. And as the crude oil revenue dipped, before day would break Osun State became bankrupt and comatose with many of its civil servants surviving on the good gestures of concerned Nigerians.

You can see how silly and dimwitted you've been parading your miserable self as being knowledgeable in the affairs of a country you claim to belong that you don't even have a good knowledge of its geography.

You should be hiding your head in shame that your people have only flourished at the expense of others by virtue of the injustice, inequity and lopsided arrangement in the polity coupled with the disgraceful manner your backstabbing elites ass-lick their masters.

If Lagos state with a landmass of 3345km2 can contain up to 20 million people, then Abia State with a landmass of 5,430km2 can sufficiently contain 30 million people!

Do you know that the South East zone alone is even bigger than Israel, Rwanda and Singapore in landmass?

Miserable bigot from a criminal Uneme-Nekhua parasites, instead of parambulating about like a headless fowl you need to get a map ASAP and get yourself armed with necessary information

Here are countries that are smaller than Biafr* and yet fare better than Nigeria:

Switzerland, Israel, Singapore, Netherlands, Qatar, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, South Yemen, Kuwait and Oman republic.

Pavore9:
"Human capital development is what really counts because it decides what a Country would look like. Take for example, Timor-Leste that is about the combined size of Abia, Anambra and Imo with a population of about 1.5million people and has unfettered access to the sea but has the lowest Human Development Index and the highest Human Poverty Index in Asia.

One can have a Country as big as the U.S  but very unproductive while a Country that is as small as the size of Lagos will be a dream place to migrate to. The quality of the human mind determines the development of an area

Oyigbo LGA and Ogba-Ndoni-Egbema LGA are the two largest oil producing LGAs in Nigeria. Both LGAs are Igbo-speaking LGAs in Rivers State, and it is a reality that must be a source of heartache to Igbo haters.
To make matters worse for enemies of progress, Anambra and Imo States have the largest gas reserves in Nigeria. Miserable haters like you can help yourself out with a dose of rat poison.

There are crude oil wells in Izombe and Egbema, both in Imo State, being operated by Addax/Chevron and Sterling global respectively for many decades now.

Obigbo and Egbema were added to Rivers State in the 1976 boundary adjustment. They were part of the old Imo State and East Central. That necessitated Dee Sam Mbakwe to take the then federal government to court to return back those territories to Imo State.

These oil wells were taken from Abia during Obj's regime and handed to Rivers. Abia went to court and the case was settled by Yardua since early 2008 when the well were returned to their rightful owner.

Nigeria's total gas deposit is 188 TCF and Anambra has more than 30 tcf -

Igbos' survival is not hinged on political posts, presidency or crude oil unlike the greedy and criminal Uneme-Nekhua leeches and their cotravellers.
The most important thing is having oil in your brain. Japan, Luxembourg and Switzerland achieved prosperity without crude oil.

"If you listen to the Aburi accord or the proceedings as a whole, you will duff your cap for Ojukwu whether he is a villain or whatever you want to call him, call him. He really dictated the pace of the discussion, he was prepared for it, he kind of put together all the things and if you listen, the moment he started talking, others kept quiet and when he finished, they will say ok ok ok. Alison Ayida said in July 1968 in Niamey Peace Talks:

You diabolic scammers and treacherous backstabbers in 1967-70 gladly colluded with your slave masters to gleefully commit genocide on supposed Anioma brothers. You murderous parasites cum treacherous backst*bbers didn't even consider how, during the pre-colonial era, your Bini empire went about conquering, subjugating and exploiting other ethnic groups and grabbing their territories and wealth. By virtue of your untold wickedness, greed and expansionist tendencies Bini empire enslaved and forced those groups to live under your despotic rule.

The Igbo Nation never had such history of expansionist tendencies of land grabbing and people-claiming tendencies. Unlike Binis, Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas, Igbos were never empire builders and never tried to conquer the smaller tribes around them to dispossess them of their lands.

You and your inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua people have remained so deluded and brainless to dare challenge and critique the constitution, that began with "We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..."
As an unrepentant ab0ki ass-licker you want sane people to believe that the generality of Nigerians, including the Christian community, assembled to produce the fraudulent 1999 constitution replete with 73 mentions of Sharia, Islam - 28 mentions, Muslim - 10 and no single mention of anything Christ, Christian or church. You don't care that your masters have systematically converted the country you call yours to an Islamic State. Your brain must have been exchanged with that of a calf.

Boorish cretin displaying foolery and flaunting it as knowledge, you should know that no amount of smart acting can make a mere butterfly become a bird.
And whether you like it or not, your senseless repetitions and rantings on NL cannot prevent you and your inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua people spending the rest of your miserable lives with your Fulani masters.

Brainless bigot, you don't care that your people are being decimated by your Fulani masters. You're not at all bothered that the marauders are having a field day in your domain, unchallenged by the Uneme-Nekhua people and their ass-licking elites.
You're not concerned about the maiming and wanton destruction of lives and properties going on in the Middle-belt and some other Southern parts.

Whether you like it or not, the eternal portion of the Uneme-Nekhua people remains with your Fulani masters. No amount of blackmail and silly rants by an inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua minion can stop the raging IPOB tsunamic movement.

Let it be clear to the Unemes and their cotravellers that the Igbo Nation cannot continue to subsidise their vassalage, parasitism and obliviousness.

Igbos cannot afford to continue to share a country with hypocrites parading as Uneme-Nekhua people on NL. The Igbo Nation are not willing to self-destruct with the deluded Uneme-Nekhua people.
I can see that you are a brainless cranium and as silly as an ass. You obviously have no single grey matter in that your flat head to reason with hence you reason with your anus and dick. If not how come you knew all these beautiful comparative "facts" about your despicable Biafra land and other places yet you fail to wonder why you Biafrauds refuse to reside at home to enjoy those good conditions and indices your land holds for you? Your Biafra land was so blessed yet you and your flat and cuboid shape headed Zik left that land of "milk and honey" and started scrambling with Yorubas and Edos over the rulership of their "big for nothing and dirty" land. Can't you see that you speak and write like a big fat fool? Have you ever asked yourself whether it was a sheer coincidence that none at all of the three biggest and foremost personalities in Igbo history (Ojukwu, Okpara and Zik) was born and brought up in Igbo land unlike the Yorubas', Hausas', and Edos' foremost men (Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Balewa and Enahoro) who were all born and bred in their own homelands? Azikiwe was born and bred in Zungeru (Hausaland), Ojukwu was born and bred in the same Zungeru (Hausaland), Okpara was born and bred in the current Nassarawa state (Hausaland). No wonder they were always ready to play second fiddle to Northerners any day, and always ready to align with the North politically against the other parts of the South.
Awolowo was born and bred in his Ikenne village, Enahoro was born and bred in his hometown of Uromi, Balewa was born and bred in his hometown of Balewa, and Ahmadu Bello was born and bred in his home town of Sokoto. Even Okotie-Eboh was born and bred in his Warri hometown, and Akintola too in his hometown of Ogbomoso.
Why was it that not just one of the prominent Igbos was born and bred at home but in the North? Does that not tell you fool that your land is so cursed that it does not support the birth and upbringing of your own stars? It took all your stars to be born and develop outside their homeland and then return home to lead you fools and you are here boasting about such a land. A land that can't breed its own sons to become leaders of its own people except their parents go to other people's lands to give birth to them. It means that land is under a powerful curse, and thus has no value system required to mould children into leadership personalities. Why is it that till today Igbos have never been able to rally around an Igbo man born and brought up in Igbo land as it was with Zik, Ojukwu and Okpara who were all born and bred in the diaspora? The only rallying point Igbos even seem to currently have is Nnamdi Kanu who as well was not completely born sand bred at home hence the partial Igbo followership he enjoys.
Even these most prominent three Igbo leaders born and bred outside Igbo land were still greatly deficient of leadership qualities as they made several political blunders which ruined the Igbo nation and relegated them to the background till tomorrow. Then how terrible and worse would it have been if Igbos had been led by home born and home bred Igbos? Your guess is as good as mine!
You just keep on exposing your stupidity here.

Why won't you ab0ki ass-lickers be grandstanding carelessly and senselessly on NL when in 1967-70 the Uneme-Nekhua people and their Southern cotravellers gladly colluded with their Northern masters to gleefully commit genocide on supposed Anioma brothers?

https://www.nairaland.com/3143222/biafra-memo-oba-akenzua-frustrated-implementation-of-aburi-accord-january-1967
http://www.punchng.com/biafra-memo-akenzua-aburi/

Prince Akenzua (now the late Oba of Benin) along with top permanent secretaries including Alhaji Yusuf Gobir, Phillip Asiodu, Eme Ebong, B.N. Okagbue and Allison Ayida deconstructed in Lagos, all that was agreed in Aburi.

On arrival in Lagos, Prince Akenzua discussed with Gowon and raised objections to what was agreed in Aburi. Gowon asked him to raise a memo which he did. I am sure a copy of the memo is with Gowon today while a copy is in the archives in the Presidency. Civil servants are to be seen and not to be heard and that is why Akenzua never released a copy of the memo to the world.

The memo dated January 8, 1967 began with: “Your Excellency, in view of my discussion with you last night, I am raising this memo in the interest our fatherland, Nigeria”. Akenzua traced the long hard road that Nigeria had travelled and stressed on the need to keep a United Nigeria.

He (Akenzua) said in the memo that Gowon had given too much away in Aburi and that it would lead to the destruction of the country. He further added that Gowon had “legalised” total regionalism which “will make the centre very weak.” Akenzua alluded in his memo that a weak centre would lead to confederation and total disintegration of the country. It was the memo that prompted Gowon to summon a meeting of the secretaries to the military governments and other officials which was held in Benin City between February 16 and 18, 1967. If you look at the minutes of the Benin meeting presided over by Mr. H. A. Ejueyitchie, Secretary to the Federal Military Government, you will discover that it was a total rejection of what was agreed upon in Aburi. The Benin meeting interpreted in its own way the agreement reached in Aburi.

The decisions at Aburi amounted to, in terms of political and military control of Nigeria, that the country should be governed as a confederation.

N.B:
The Omo N’oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa (CFR), the 38th Oba of Benin, who was born on June 22, 1923 and ascended the throne on March 23, 1979.

The Oba of Benin is the traditional ruler of the Edo people and head of the historic Eweka dynasty of the Benin Empire.

Before becoming an Oba, as Prince Samuel Aiseokhuoba Igbinoghodua Akenzua, he was an outstanding civil servant. He, in fact, rose to become the Federal Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health before he retired in 1973.

Along with others, he attended the Aburi meeting held at the Peduase Lodge where the conflict of Nigeria was discussed between January 4 and January 5, 1967. Aburi is a town in Ghana and a 45-minute drive from Accra, the capital of Ghana.

Those who attended the meeting were Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon, Col. Robert Adebayo, Lt. Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Lt. Col. David Ejoor, Lt. Col. David Hassan Katsina, Commodore J.E.A. Wey, Major Mobolaji Johnson, Alhaji Kam Selem and Mr. J. Omo-Bare. Others were Prince S.I.A. Akenzua (Permanent Under-Secretary, Federal Cabinet Office.), Mr. P.T. Odumosu (Secretary to the Military Government, West.), Mr. N.U. Akpan (Secretary to the Military Government, East.), Mr. D.P. Lawani (Under-Secretary, Military Governor’s Office, Mid-West) and Alhaji Ali Akilu (Secretary to the Military Government, North.) The Chairman of the Ghana National Liberation Council, Lt. Gen. J.A. Ankrah, declared the meeting open in his capacity as then the head of state of Ghana.

https://www.nairaland.com/2854914/why-fought-side-ojukwu-biafra-fola-oyewole

Retired Lt. Fola Oyewole, 77, a Nigerian Military Officer of the Yoruba stock, fought on the side of Biafra during the ncivil war. Before then, he was, because of the first coup 50 years ago, imprisoned in Lagos and in the Enugu but was released by Lt Col Ojukwu.

He wrote his own war account too, entitled “The Reluctant Rebel”, which joined other civil war narratives like ‘The Biafra Story’ (1969) by Frederick Forsyth, ‘Why We Struck’ (1981) by Adewale Ademoyega, ‘Sunset In Biafra’ (1975) by Elechi Amadi, ‘The Nigerian Revolution And the Biafran War’ (1980) by Alexander Madiebo among others.

In this interview with Ademola Adegbamigbe and Femi Anjorin (Idowu Ogunleye snapped the photos), the retired army officer narrated what happened during the first coup, his participation in it and why he, despite being Yoruba, fought on the side of Biafra like other non Igbo officers like Lt Col. Victor Banjo, Major Wale Ademoyega and others.

Q: In what area did you take part in that coup?

A: Arrest, seize facility and others…

Q: You were at a point, according to your book, with Captain Adeleke, another Yoruba soldier, who was he?

A: He was a colleague. He is the one who said he wanted to consult the family and we were friends, we both worked in Apapa before the crisis.

Q: I want you to describe what happened to other Yoruba people or non Igbo who fought on the Biafran side – Lt Col. Victor Banjo, Major Wale Ademoyega, then Major Kaduna Nzeogwu an Igbo from Opanam in Delta?

A: They were detained like myself, and Nzeogwu was detained, that was a common factor.

Q: In the book, you applaud Ojukwu’s performance in Aburi, explain to us what actually happened because there is this argument that he bamboozled Gowon

A: If you listen to the Aburi accord or the proceedings as a whole, you will duff your cap for Ojukwu whether he is a villain or whatever you want to call him, call him. He really dictated the pace of the discussion, he was prepared for it, he kind of put together all the things and if you listen, the moment he started talking, others kept quiet and when he finished, they will say ok ok ok. To give you a full grasp of what the theme was, you need to read the comment of the super perm sec (Akenzua) who led us to (the mess) where we are today.

Q: Was it Philip Asiodu?

A: The group – Asiodu, and the rest. Their recommendations, what they brought back from Aburi was agreed to be implemented but when they came here they tore it into pieces.

Q: Ok, was after the agreement was signed in Aburi? They came back to Nigeria….

A: To put it in whatsoever you can say political implementation. They desired to analyse it, it was an agreement not suggestion, that’s where our problem sort of started.

If you listen to the Aburi accord or the proceedings as a whole, you will duff your cap for Ojukwu whether he is a villain or whatever you want to call him, call him.
The current Oyo state alone is bigger than the whole of the SE Region (Igbo land). Moreover there is virtually no resource in Igbo land. So Igbos started preaching one-Nigeria when they felt they needed other tribes lands and resources to survive.
I actually don't read your vain repetitions anymore because you have always dishonestly refused to acknowledge the fact that your daft, stupid, greedy, lawless, overambitious and subservient brothers, Zik and Ironsi, laid the foundation for the indivisibility of Nigeria today by their one-Nigeria sloganeering and introduction of unitary system against public opinion. All the other tribes subsequent actions were aimed at protecting themselves from the boomerang effect of One-Nigeria and Unitary system introduction by Igbos.
Nigeria started with a "We the people" constitution that was working perfectly, but because Igbos by their nature always hate any system where there is orderliness, equitable atmosphere and fairness, but love chaotic situations and unhealthy competition, they found every means to disrupt that constitution thinking they would be able to compete favourably, outplay others and dominate them in an unregulated and lawless arrangement. But soon after they introduced lawlessness and chaos through Ironsi's unification and anti-secession decrees they soon realized that they were mistaken to have believed such a situation would favour them. Other tribes proved them wrong as they became the very victims of their own unitary system, one Nigeria and anti-secession decrees. It was at that point they made a shameless volte face and began to demand confederation, Aburi Accord, loose centre and every other element of orderliness which they themselves earlier argued was inimical to national unity and would lead to collapse of Nigeria, and for which they had already mocked as tribalists all other tribes which earlier on demanded confederacy and orderliness while priding themselves as nationalists. Of course other tribes had to disagree with them and stop them because of that hypocrisy. How could self-styled nationalists suddenly begin to demand the same constitutional provisions they had already termed "tribalistic", "un-nationalistic" and "sectional"?
After causing problems and chaos by their forceful introduction of the wicked and anti-human unitary system and anti-secession decrees they now wanted to escape the consequences of that disorder and chaos by asking for Aburi Accord with which they would have had the power to exit and leave others behind to wallow alone in the mess they created while they themselves would have been laughing and smiling from afar watching the other tribes packing the shit they dropped and ran away. There was no way Akenzua and the rest would not have thwarted Aburi Accord. We all decided to hold you back not because we can't survive without you but because you must stay back to enjoy your portion of the consequences of the mess you created by bringing unitary system, anti-secession clause and military coups into Nigeria at a time you felt you needed other tribes to survive. In one Nigeria we all remain. We will never allow you go until you get a full measure of the share of the repercussion of the unitary system you introduced against public opinion.

Frustrated spawn of a fallen demon, I quite feel your eternal pains and grief but that still will not prevent you and your inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua people spending the rest of your miserable lives with your Fulani masters.

Miserable scallywag, nothing good can proceed from diabolic scammers and treacherous backst*bbers who through Prince Akenzua (now the late Oba of Benin) along with top permanent secretaries ensured the non-implementation of the Aburi Accord of January 4 & 5, 1966. And in 1967-70 gladly colluded with their masters to gleefully commit genocide on supposed Anioma brothers.

Uneme-Nekhua elites and other backstabbing Edo elites are wont to disgracefully frustrate the aspirations of the South to satisfy their slave masters.
The Edo/Edoid elites have been in the habit of betraying the trust of the South. They rarely stand up to counter the great evils, injustice, inequity and lopsided arrangement in the polity but would rather join hands with the enemies of progress to ensure the continuation of evils in the land.

In pre-colonial times, Edo groups maintained an evil empire and your reign of terror extending to the Aniomas was better imagined than experienced. Sooner than later the entrance of the colonial masters marked the moribund of your cannivorous empire. You were rendered useless and even right now you remain a spent force that cannot be reckoned with except in 1967-70 when you connived with your Fulani masters and went about pointing out your supposed Anioma brothers to be massacred in Bini.

Aside Edo being the Witchcraft headquarters of Nigeria, where witches fall from electric poles with reckless abandon, generally, Edos smartness ends in being notorious international prostitutes, Ogboni-cult human blood drinkers, diabolic scammers, armed robbers, wicked juju-enslavement of girls for prostitution, barbaric witchcraft and ritual practices, credit cards scammers, 419 business fraudster, greedy treasury looters, saboteurs and treacherous backstabbers, coldhearted executors of genocide on Anioma people, diabolic land grabbers and brother killers, parasitic ingrates, devilish cultists, cunning, greedy and lazy slaves. Take some time out and research on your uncles - the dreaded Lawrence Anini and Monday Osunbor whose diabolic gangs caused fear, terror and bloodletting in Benin City and its environ.

As if your cannibalism and ritual-killings aren't enough evil your married women are notorious in importing their mothers' juju and witchcraft into their husbands homes.

You should be hiding your oblong conehead in shame when sane people are having a worthwhile discussion.
You and cannibalistic people have only flourished at the expense of others by virtue of the injustice, inequity and lopsided arrangement in the polity coupled with the disgraceful manner your backstabbing elites ass-lick their masters.

Fetish inbred slave from a juju-infested enclave, if you like cry blood and continue your wicked propaganda the eternal portion of the Uneme-Nekhua people still remains with your Fulani masters.

If you're too pained that you and your Uneme-Nekhua people will eventually end up with the Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis in OduaArewanistan republic then find the nearest brick wall and smash your empty-headed skull to smithereens.

It has been a curse having your likes in the same country and this curse is broken already and the serpent head is severely bruised and that's why you've been on rampage for some months now attempting in vain to resurrect a walking corpse.

Igbos are comfortable having a separate existence from greedy, treasury looters cum murderous backst*bbers.

“Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly" - Albert Einstein
The truth remains that Igbos were the first to work against the interest of the South by stupidly aligning with the North through the evil and ill-fated NPC-NCNC coalition of 1959 with which Igbos led by Zik under the command of the Hausa-Fulani Mafia harassed and jailed non-Igbo Southerners. Igbos' calculation was that they and Hausa Fulanis would perpetually rule over Nigeria and enslave the other tribes of the South and Middle Belt. But before igbos realized their folly it was too late as the Hausa Fulanis began to pummel them badly and rig both elections and censuses against them with the power Igbos gave them over the South through the diabolical and devilish NPC-NCNC coalition at a time it was very clear that the North was hell bent on enslaving the South. It was at that point the hypocrites turned around and started seeking support from the other southern tribes for Aburi Accord and were expecting those tribes to support Aburi Accord from the jails in which they (Igbos) had imprisoned them. They expected support from the same people they had been tutoring with their Igbo-Hausa-Filani NPC-NCNC Oligarchy. Very irrational lots. Of course the other Southern tribes could never have been so stupid to support their own quest for freedom after they had themselves denied others of same. Igbos' greed blinded them to the fact that the North hated them and had already started killing Igbos in thousands. If not for a combination greed and stupidity how would a people and their leader (Zik) who graduated from a prestigious university in Pennsylvania throw away a clear opportunity to become prime minister through an all-South alliance but choose to, in the name of pursuing national unity, be a caricature figure head ceremonial governor general under a grade 2 teacher from an uneducated and backward tribe as his head and prime minister? Very daft, greedy and senseless people who can fall for any deal, however stupid and dishonourable, just to further their greed. They sold their future and birthright to the North and later began to think that support for Aburi Accord by other Southerners will buy back that birthright when even Esau, for the rest of his life, was never able to buy back the birthright he sold to Jacob . Fools! They ascribe Jewishness to themselves but fail to understand that birthright remains sold as long as it was willingly done as illustrated in the biblical account of Jacob and Esau. Jews indeed! it I guess you will also accuse Unemes, Okpameris, Igarras, Ososos, Etsakos, Esans, Binis and all other Edo tribes as being responsible for Zik's and Igbo's very daft and preposterous 1959 decision to sell their Prime Ministerial birthright to Hausa-Fulani for lesser portfolios by ditching an all South alliance in which Zik would have been Prime Minister for a slave-master Igbo-Hausa-Fulani (NPC-NCNC) coalition that ended up ruining Nigeria till today. I guess you'll also allege that Edos prevented Zik from becoming the King of Benin and so Zik decided to pay them back by joining the North against the South. But why was Zik always so interested in becoming king or premier everywhere except his own very home? Does it mean his home was ungovernable or that his people did not want him or that he hated his own people but loved outsiders so much that he was ready to offer them dividends of good governance which his own people needed more than everyone else back then? Why could he not just stay back in his Eastern Region and develop it with all that "knowledge and wisdom" ascribed to him? Do his own people forbid good governance and leadership by a man of "wisdom"? Why could he not just start his charity from home? After securing their regions for themselves they started trying to colonize other regions under the subterfuge of "One-Nigeria" slogan. Thieves and Barawos!

The eternal truth is that your prophet Zik has prophesied that the unity of Hausa-Fulani and Igbo is non-negotiable, and Buhari (a Fulani) has echoed it again recently while some very notable Igbos chorused along. So as long as Igbos keep giving reverence to Zik, then his prophesy will continue to hold over them. It isa not really the FG but It is the spirit and ghost of Zik that is thwarting IPOB efforts to actualize Biafra because Zik's prophesy must be fulfilled. Every other Southern People will exit Nigeria and leave igbos behind with Hausa-Fulanis to enjoy their United BIAREWA Republic of non-negotiable unity which Zik foresaw.

See a frustrated history distortionist and lying propagandist. A debased, notorious pogrom-loving spawn of lucifer calling someone a liar! You tried to cook up lies to satisfy your delusion and your paymasters.

If your evil concoctions are worth anything you would have tried mentioning your Uneme-Nekhua elites that made positive strides towards the upliftment of this country. Instead you've consistently failed to even dare an attempt.

@Deadlytrash, I can see that you're really an unrepentant, nonentity and riff-raff.

To add to your delusion, you mischievously tried in vain to divert attention from the fact that the constitution used to run this cesspit is fraudulent and that it was foisted on the people by some wicked and greedy elements like you. True to your dubious nature you tried to impress it on the minds of your readership that
the 1999 constitution, that began with "We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria...", was the product of the deliberations of the constituent parts of this country. This is the joke of the century from a deluded Uneme-Nekhua leech.

As a deluded ab0ki ass-licker you want other people to believe with you that the generality of Nigerians, including the Christian community, assembled to produce the fraudulent 1999 constitution replete with 73 mentions of Sharia, Islam - 28, Muslim - 10 and no single mention of anything Christ, Christian or church.
In all your studies you couldn't lay your hands on the Nigerian constuition to understand that the country you call your own is an Islamic State.

You must be a dimwitted bigot per excellence who still thinks every other Nigerian is as ill-educated a savage as you are.

Being a confused hypocrite you decided to defend your Yoruba kinsmen by stating thus, "The same SLS just two months ago reversed himself in a book launch..." You tried to deflect the fact that your Yoruba kinsmen are the problem, especially in the South. You amused yourself by stating that your Fulani masters pity and spare your Yoruba kinsmen during their usual killing spree in the North. Your brain must be experiencing some short-circuit somewhere!

Okay, if SLS revised himself and therefore inconsistent and unreliable, what about other Fulanis and their verdicts on you and your Yoruba bigots?

"...We also captured Ilorin, killed their local King and installed our Fulani Emir. We took that ancient town away from the barbarian Yoruba and their filthy pagan gods. We liberated all these places and all these people by imposing Islam on them by force. It was either the Koran or the sword, and most of them chose the Koran..."

Some time ago your masters dared Yorubas on Ilorin and Offa, declaring, "We Are Taking Illorin And Offa With Us, North Dares Yoruba: https://www.nairaland.com/885595/taking-illorin-offa-us-north "?

In the 1990s MKO Abiola and his wife, Kudirat Abiola, were killed by your masters and heaven was not let loose.

Abdu$9l9mi and co poisoned Abiola in prison after being locked up for years.
Kudirat Abiola, 5th wife to MKO Abiola was gunned down by Al-mustapha in broad daylight. Bola Ige's life was snuffed out by "unknown" persons. Despite his kneeling and weeping before a junior officer, Gen Oladipo Diya was jailed for plotting a coup to unseat his master Abacha. He has not being his usual self as he was alleged to have been gang b9nged in prison.

Ernest Shenokan was humiliated out of office like a street tout after just 80 days in office. Diya, Adisa, Olanrewaju were humiliated and thrown out of office like common man on the street.

Hausa-Fulanis have given prominent Yoruba men an overdose of humiliation that will last them a life time despite using them as slaves to prosecute the 1967-70 civil war against Igbos. But Yorubas have only but maintained a deafening silence and would rather point accusing fingers on Igbos who have been far from political power for close to 50 years.

Last year 2015, Fulani herdsmen after kidnapping and releasing Olu Falae from their detention warned him that if he talks carelessly they would come kidnap him again. And some days later an Almajiri like Kwankwaso came all the way from Kano, assembled cowardly Yoruba leaders in Ibadan only to tell them to "Shut up!"

The same Fulani herdsmen have been hunting Yorubas for sport for decades, and they don't even consider Yoruba Muslims as equals but inferior beings! Yet Yorubas have always maintained a deafening silence and would instead look for the Igbos to accuse!

And frustrated beings like you came on NL to attempt to water down the ill-treatment meted out to your Yoruba kinsmen by the Fulanis.

"When an AD governor, Bola Tinubu, swears to a false affidavit that he attended an Ivy League University which he did not attend, we hear excuses.

For so many years, the Yoruba have inundated this country with stories of being marginalised and of a civil service dominated by northerners through quota system. The Federal Character Commission has recently released a report which shows that the South-West accounts for 27.8% of civil servants in the range GL08 to GL14 and a full 29.5% of GL 15 and above. One zone out of six zones controls a full 30% of the civil service leaving the other five zones to share the remaining 70%. We find the same story in the economy, in academia, in parastatals.

Yet in spite of being so dominant, the Yoruba complained and complained of marginalization. Of recent, in recognition of the trauma which hit the South-West after June 12, the rest of the country forced everyone out of the race to ensure that a South-Westerner emerged, often against the best advice of political activists.

Instead of leading a path of reconciliation and strong appreciation, the Yoruba have embarked on short-sighted triumphalism, threatening other "nationalities" that they ( who after all lost the election) will protect Obasanjo ( who was forced on them). No less a person than Bola Ige has made such utterances.

To further show that they were in charge, they led a cult into the Hausa area of Sagamu, murdered a Hausa woman and nothing happened. In the violence that followed, they killed several Hausa residents, with Yoruba leaders like Segun Osoba, reminding Nigerians of the need to respect the culture of their host communities. This would have continued were it not for the people of Kano who showed that they could also create their own Oro who would only be appeased through the shedding of innocent Yoruba blood.
I say all this, to support Balarabe Musa´s statement, that the greatest problem to nation-building in Nigeria are the Yoruba Bourgeoisie. I say this also to underscore my point that until they change this attitude, no conference can solve the problems of Nigeria. We cannot move forward if the leadership of one of the largest ethnic groups continues to operate, not like statesmen, but like common area boys.

You are a big fool. I will not address your stupid and senseless repetitions which I have already addressed in other threads. This is how your Northern mallam masters eulogize you and then in a moment later begin to slaughter you. If you were sensible you would have wondered why then they continued to kill you people if they truly believe you have contributed to their growth. Yest you keep living among them in millions despite leasing you to their slaughter houses daily. What more evidence is there that you people are the slaves of the North? A people who claim to have developed other people's places while their own home is in shambles.

If you were not a hopeless revisionist and blatant liar you would not have claimed I was referring to the 1999 constitution as a "We the people" constitution when I actually said Nigeria started with a "We the people constitution". Did Nigeria start in 1999? Can you honestly deny that our independence constitution was working fine before your shortsighted and uneducated Ironsi started tampering with it? If you can't read and comprehend simple explicit sentences then now wonder the big fool in you is never able to see the deceit in a Hausa man's speech aimed at fooling you after killing your brothers. You are beyond salvage!
You have for over three months now ranted meaninglessly without sparing a single line to tell us here the specific igbo ethnic subdivision you belong and also tell us exactly how that your unfortunate ethnicity has contributed to the salvaging of Nigeria. You are obviously ashame to tell us which unfortunate and inconsequential part of Igbo land your meaningless self come from. Why? You are obviously not proud of the miserable and Otokoto Shrines infested village you hail from. If you are bold and proud of your stinking and demonic village which serves as a human parts procurement hub and market then declare it here. I have told you the name of my own home town, but you are dead ashame to declare yours for very obvious reasons. We don't eat flesh or trade in it in my home town unlike in yours where human parts are sold and eaten. You are a hopeless cannibal who is being tormented by the ghosts of those whose flesh and blood you ate and drank. If you were not under torment of nemesis how come I referred to the constitution with which Nigeria began at independence and you took it to mean the 1999 constitution? Of course you have lost your senses from too much involvement with human flesh, blood and human parts. I challenge you once more; tell us the name of your squalid and shrine filled village in igbo land if you are proud of it.

Akenzua remain an ineffectual buffoon, I only brought him up in the discussion to show his role in the present one Nigeria. He is a non entity, I only know him because I'm a student of history, millions of Nigerians don't know who he is, putinghim on same sentence as Zik is an insult to the person of Zik.

Again stop tagging along a non existing entity "SS", was Nzeogwu the same man that plotted the so called Igbo coup, not from "SS"? How can Ndiigbo be tagging along SS when Ndiigbo are south south? The only ones licking people ass are your inconsequential minority group in Edo, who are not known anywhere outside Edo, show me where Ndiigbo attached to your inconsequential minority ethnic group in Edo state?

It will be an insult to slaves, calling your Edo group slaves, as even slaves have known names, you group doesn't, you remain inconsequential and insignificant, deal with it!

Even GEJ an Ogbia man was more than happy to attach to Ndiigbo, he publicly took the name Azikiwe, and declared that Ndiigbo were thebedrock of his administration. I didn't hear him say anything about your inconsequential Edo group.

The deal is that Aro confederation gave the British empire more resistance than your mushroom village empire of Blood and gore could. Nri was a religious kingdom, never forced its power on any group, but was rather consulted by groups on religious and spiritual matters, comparing it to your mushroom village empire is an insult to sanity.

Funny, Herbert Macaulay was a Sierra Leonian that saw himself more as a Lagosian than a Yoruba. Zik maintained the detibalized nature of NCNC until Awo formed AG and systematically lured the Yoruba elements in NCNC into AG by appealing to their tribal allegiance to Yoruba.

Lol, Zik had no Influence on the Mid west formation yet it was an NCNC Igbo man, Osadebey that emerged the premier of the New region, this must be a miracle.
I guess it was the useless Oba of Bini that was influential in Midwest formation, perhaps you forgot to tell us that it was the inane Enahoro who had his mouth deep in Awo's ass, and fought against Mid west freedom from the Yorubas, that was influential in mid western secession.

The COR would have never survived a democratic vote, the willink report showed that, if you believe that the willink report was Igbo influenced, then provide us with evidence backed rebuttal of the summation of the report, there is currently a thread on that. The "report on ground" grammar is you accepting that you have no proof for your lies, but nevertheless will continue arguing for arguments sake. The British even during the war from their intelligence report found out that only 1/3 of the Eastern minorities would have voted against Biafra, which was the exact reason Gowon turned down all options for UN Supervised plebiscite Ojukwu offered to him during the war.
So on this COR issue, you are fishing on shallow waters.

Make a Yoruba man our first Premier? Are you sane at all? Did any Yoruba man contest for the premier of the Eastern region? How many Yorubas lived in the East to even think of contesting for political posts, I will ignore the rest of your ranting here as that of a bitter man from an inconsequential ethnic group suffering from rabid form of Igbophobia and hence incapable of rational thoughts.

Yes, Igbanke felt that by staying in Edo, they could carve a niche of their own out of the Shadows of Agbor, little did they know that you Edo leeches will capitalize on their presence in Edo to spread you imperialism over them, yes! They are crying to be reunited back with Agbor in Delta North.

No, Ogbemudia is not an Igbanke man. He is a Bini Man with maternal lineage in Igbanke. Edos voted for him because he is an Edo and not an Igbanke.

Moreover, Ogbemudia was the governor of Midwest and later Bendel state, and not just Edo state.

And why should Ojukwu resign? He mustnt resign to show disapproval of Ironsi policies. The other military governors didn't approve of Ironsi either, but non of them resigned.

Afikpo Muslims are very minute and insignificant and even as of today are segregated by the mainstream Afikpo people, they are for all intents and purposes social misfits. And as of the era in discourse they are insignificant in number to make an impact even in Afikpo, Islam is considered anti social : www.informationng.com/2012/08/an-ibo-muslim-scholar-declares-his-challenges-being-a-muslim.html

Muslims are less than 5% of Afikpo population and are less than 0.05 % of Igboland population, being a Muslim is still considered as social deviance in Igboland and Igbo Muslims are often looked down upon by the Igbo society at large.
Comparing this scenario to that of Yorubaland where Muslims constitute 60- 40% of the population and Edoland where they dominate in an entire senatorial zone( Edo North) is at best a desperate attempt at winning an Argument.

There is nothing like Islamist North, North was North, one North. Awo went into alliance with the North ie UMBC, it's as simple as that. Your introducing the Islamist North and Non Islamist North into the discussion is at best childish, it's a known fact that the July 1966 coup was a Northern coup driven by the Hausa-Fulani North with Murtala as a kingpin, Gowon was merely an arrow head brought in later, Gowon wasn't representing the middle belt, he represented the aspirations of the "Islamist North" as led by the Hausa-Fulani, and Awo had no problem allying with him. This your whole Islamist/ Non Islamist submission is a non starter.

Politics is politics and is all about winning. Awo was a rabid Igbophobic being, yet he courted the Igbo for votes in 1978, when he felt the Igbo would be holding grudges against the North for the war, with Awo himself having been dumped by the North.

Zik seeking Awo's hand in 1964 or not is irrelevant to what happened earlier and why Zik left Awo in the Lurch for the North, Zik also sought UMBC hand.

On the contrary, Akintola was sent to the North by Awo to broker a deal, not knowing that Awo was equally looking at striking a deal with the East too. Akintola was of the opinion that a deal with the North was better for the West and was angry when he learnt that Awo's treachery caused the deal to break down, and Awo was left forming a deal with the less influential UMBC, Akintola blamed Awo's treachery for the weakening of the Yoruba race and their slip out of central relevance, and from then henceforth Akintola felt that Awo was no longer good enough to anchor the Yoruba ship and started working towards replacing him.

Awo working with UMBC led to instability in the North and the North had to pay him back in his own coin, and in Akintola, they found a willing tool in that regard.

Akintola was right in blaming Awo treachery for the loss of Yorubas in the first republic, his double game treachery wasted Akintola's mission, even though Akintola was sent on that mission by Awo, if not for Awo's treachery that was brought to the knowledge of the North,Akintola would have sealed that deal fast and Zik and Ndiigbo would have been the ones left in the lurch.
Sorry, I see no superior logic in your presentation, what I see is straw clutching.

Gowon never had the ultimate power,he lived in the Knowledge that he was living on borrowed time, he was a water carrier of the Hausa-Fulani junta, and lasted as long as he kept doing their bidding. He was ousted when they felt his job was done. It was a simple matter. Murtala always had the ultimate control of the "boys".

Enahoro and Awo were released because the core North needed a southern alliance to stop Biafra, it was more of a strategic move than an emotional one.

Your insistence at dragging Zik into the criminal and treason case of Awo and Enahoro is pathological. Akintola and Balewa were the ones that had direct issues with Awo. Akintola for the sake of personal ambitions, Balewa for the sake of Vendetta on Awo's instability inducing alliance with the UMBC. The Tiv riots occurred between 1960-64 and the NPC leaders blamed AG led by Awo and Enahoro for the events that led to that.
If Zik truly wanted safety for Awolowo then why did he not plead to have Awolowo detained in a prison in his own Western Region the way Ironsi sought safety of the Igbo Majors by transferring all of them to prisons in their own home Eastern Region? Was Awolowo safer among Igbos than Among his own Yorubas? If we are to even agree that the East was the safest place for AG prisoners as at that time, then why could Zik not also plead for Enahoro to be jailed in the East?
You are not logical at all.

Now Just listen to yourself;

"Enahoro and Awo were released because the core North needed a southern alliance to stop Biafra.......".

I thought you already have been saying that it was Ojukwu that released Awolowo? So Ojukwu was part of the Core North which, according to you above, released Awo to stop Biafra? Or that Ojukwu did the bidding of the Core North by releasing Awo to stop Biafra. So Ojukwu released Awo to stop Biafra dream? Can you now see how inconsistent and incoherent you are? Telling one lie to defend another and ending up contradicting yourself without knowing it. That is the evidence that you have been spreading falsehood and lies here. You yourself have used your own mouth to contradict yourself and prove yourself as cooking up lies and defending them with more lies. Your lies are now obvious and being punctured by no one other than yourself. Ride on.
My next post will reveal more of your self-contradictions and lies. Watch out!

@63xtr36, your are either an ignoramus or a shameless liar. The London Conference of 1957 produced a "We the people" constitution at the end of the exercise because it was drafted by purely civilians drawn from all the parties (AG, NPC, NCNC, NDC, OIL, IPP, OE, UMBC, etc) in their capacities as representatives of each and every federal constituencies or their equivalents then. You can watch it on you-tube as videos don't lie. We actually started with that "We the people" constitution in 1960. It only began to veer off the status of a "we the people" constitution when Aguyi Ironsi unilaterally began to tamper with it in 1966 claiming he (despite being barely educated) knew more than the celebrated graduates of world prestigious universities who sat down and took the pains to rub minds and make well thought out inputs into it. Aguyi Ironsi did that nonsense when no single member of the public demanded constitution review. Very daft and stupid man!

I have already thrashed the other issues you keep on repeating.

The mere fact that you believe SLS's claim that Yorubas are the problem with Nigeria exposes your shallow intellectual ability. If you had read that SLS' write up between the lines and were intelligent enough you would have observed the following hypocrisies in it:

1. That he laboured hard to impress his foolish readers like you by replaying history to indict yorubas as the problem of Nigeria, but he did not spare a single line to condemn his own Hausa-Fulani brothers who, in the circumstances of those events, would always ironically kill Igbos and leave unharmed the Yorubas who were the problem according to him. How daft and slow in reasoning you are! Can't you see that an uneducated goro chewing Fulani man has fooled you again with all your acclaimed Biafra intellect?
2. In his account SLS cleverly left out the part of Nigeria's history from 1914 to 1960 but just jumped into the middle and started from 1962. You obviously are not intelligent enough to observe that he deliberately left out the events of 1914 to 1960 because that is the part that actually indicts his own Hausa-fulani brothers who within that period (1945 and 1953) began to slaughter southerners, mostly Igbos, without provocation and within the same period also introduced the born-to-rule philosophy and Northernization agenda which actually laid the remotest foundation for the mutual tribal distrust which later instigated all the Awolowo coup, Nzeogwu coup, etc. Why did he leave out where his own brothers started sowing the seeds of born-to-rule? Even within the period he captured in his account it was his brothers that started the whole problem by rigging the census of 1962 which led to a chain of events that caused serious political instability and eventually culminated in a bloody coup. The man did not mention any of these and a fool like you quickly bought into it just because it carries an anti-Yoruba headline even though he also bashed Igbos in it and suggested that they were the most stupid of all.

The same SLS just two months ago reversed himself in a book launch at which he delivered a speech in which he asserted that "Any body who still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba, Hausa or Fulani does not love Nigeria". That he did not include Igbos in the tribes he listed in that self reversal might even mean that he has over time come to believe that Igbos are the problem of Nigeria. A man so inconsistent is your lecturer, mentor and oracle? You sincerely deserve pity. Sorry for you!
Igbos will continue to be fooled and tossed up and down in this country by all other tribes.

See the speech below and read it carefully.
I placed in capital letters the part where he reversed himself.

The former Central
Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi,
surprised guests present at the Muson
Centre for the launching of the book of Sir
Olaniwun Ajayi.
Below is his unedited speech.
“Let me start by saying that I am Fulani
(laughter). My grandfather was an Emir and
therefore I represent all that has been
talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has
written a book. And like all Nigerians of his
generation, he has written in the language
of his generation.
“My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a
Nigerian. The problem with this country is
that in 2009, we speak in the language of
1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the
way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of
my generation speaking in that language.
“Let us go into this issue because there are
so many myths that are being bandied
around. Before colonialism, there was
nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the
Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the
Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano
regard himself as bakane. The man from
Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina
was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war
with each other. They were Hausas, they
were Muslims, they were killing each other.
“The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko,
Egba. When did they become one? When
did the North become one? You have the
Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person
from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one
kingdom. They now
said it was a Muslim North.
“The Colonialists came, put that together
and said it is now called the Northern
Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our
grand fathers were able to transform to
being Northerners. We have not been able
to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is
ours.
Tell me, how many governors has South
West produced after Awolowo that are role
models of leadership? How many governors
has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe
that can be role models of leadership? How
Many governors in the Niger Delta are role
models of leadership? Tell me. There is no
evidence statistically that any part of this
country has produced good leaders.
You talk about Babangida and the economy.
Who were the people in charge of the
economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae,
Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in
the North?
“We started the banking reform; the first
thing I heard was that in Urobo land, that
there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said
they (ancestors) would not answer. They
said why? I said how many factories did
Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the
ancestors of the Urobo people support her?
“We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is
hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in
1999, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged
election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It
was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this
country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba
and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to
get his hands on the pile and how much he
can steal.
Whether it is in the military or in the civilian
government, they sit down, they eat
together. In fact, the constitution says there
must be a minister from every state.
“SO ANYBODY THAT IS STILL PREACHING THAT THE PROBLEM OF NIGERIA IS YORUBA OR HAUSA OR FULANI, HE DOES NOT LOVE NIGERIA." (Capital letters mine). The
problem with Nigeria is that a group of
people from each and every ethnic tribe is
very selfish. The poverty that is found in
Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty
that you find in any part of the South.
The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi
talked about few numbers of graduates in
the North (two at independence) . What he
did not say was that there was a
documented policy of the British when they
came that the Northerner should not be
educated. It was documented. It was British
colonial policy. I have the document. I have
published articles on it. That if you educate
the Northerner you will produce progressive
Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in
Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It
was documented. And you say they love us
(North).
“I have spent the better part of my life to
fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows me. Yes,
my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in
the pro-democracy movement fighting for
June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ?
Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat
Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)?
“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo
people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians
and there are bad people everywhere. That
is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing
Nigeria because we are not the most
populous country
in the world. We have all the resources that
make it easy to make one united great
Nigeria. It is better if we are united than to
divide it.
“Every time you talk about division, when
you restructure, do you know what will
happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri
will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was
the Niger Delta constructed as a political
entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were
fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was
happening? Now they have become Niger
Delta because they have found oil. After, it
will be, if you do not have oil in your village
then you cannot share our resources.
“There is no country in the world where
resources are found in everybody’s hamlet.
But people have leaders and they said if you
have this geography and if we are one state,
then we have a responsibility for making
sure that the people who belong to this
country have a good nature.
“So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have
infrastructure, we don’t have education, we
don’t have health. We are still talking about
Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is
anybody saying there is no poverty among
the Fulani?”, he said.
This is a great message to our generation.
Are we truly ready to develop and unite
Nigeria?
Politics › Re: Ikwerre - Igbo - 22 MISINFORMATION ON IGBOS by Deadlytruth(m): 12:36am On Jul 06, 2016
Igboid:
Akenzua was an inconsequential buffoon, he didn't prevent Igbo secession, he was amongst those that convinced Gowon to not keep to Aburi terms, Gowon was already power drunk, all he needed to hold unto power was any conviction from any quarter. Even a Goat could have been able to convince Gowon. Akenzua was and remain a nobody, only Bini people know him.

Lol! Yoruba influence over him was because both him and his people are meant for eternal servitude that will surely continue in Arewaoduanistan republic, It was NCNC under Zik that masterminded Mid western separation from the Western region because of the cries of Western Igbos, and we ensured a mid western Igbo in Osadebey became the first Premier of the New region, even though the western Igbos were not the majority there.

The COR movement could not survive public vote in non Igbo areas of the East, only disgrunted few non Igbo politicians were pushing for it, the mainstream non Igbo Eastern politicians and traditional rulers as well as the people were well carried along in the East. THE COR could only be created by a military fiat, it wouldn't have survived a democratic referendum.
There was a report by the colonials on this situation, the Wilkins report, I will Post it here and another British report during the War that supports this.

Sorry to disappoint you, the Igbo are not dictatorial like your Yoruba brothers, at a time Awo was rallying his Yoruba troops to stop the emergence of Zik in Lagos, A fulani man was already the Mayor of Enugu.

The Igbankes in Edo that live with you and that feels the full weight of Bini imperialism, don't revere you, they are seeking for freedom from your despotic reign in Edo.
I had already posted the article on that here.

Anybody can write anything they like, being Igbo or not, does not in any way stop it from being right or wrong. The circumstances surrounding the post Jan coup is different from those of Post July coup, Ojukwu was brought in by Ironsi, you wouldn't expect him to object to Ironsi decrees, that's the chain of military command.

The British didn't have to reinforce anything. The first official attempt by British to capture Bini was a total success in a matter of days. The other earlier attempts were by British subjects and not by the British empire. The crux of the matter is that the Aro put up more resistance to the British empire than the mushroom Bini empire of Blood and Gore did.

Lol! How can't you be talking about Awo choosing the Christian UMBC, when we know that half of Yoruba itself is an Islamic enclave? You make it sound like Awo had preference for Christians over muslims grin Awo was left with no choice but to form an alliance with UMBC, after his treachery to play both Zik and Balewa failed.

He was left in the lurch and forced to work with whatever was remaining, which UMBC represented then, it had nothing to do with principles, Awo was a power hungry politician that was eager to kiss the devil for power, during the 1979 elections he was left in a similar lurch again and had to pick an Igbo vice, it wasn't because he loved Igbos, far from it, rather political permutations beyond his control forced him.

Awo in anger for being left in the lurch by the core North would later start scheming to wreck the North through UMBC Tiv elements, leading to Tiv riots, for this reason, the NPC singled Awo out as an Enemy that must be crushed, that was the beginning of Awo's travails.

Gowon was not representing the Middle belt Post July coup, he was a figure head of the Hausa-Fulani oligarchy, the kingpin was Murtala Muhammad, he was the one the troops were subservient to, Gowon was a rubber stamp, Awo was not that stupid not to know that, so the picture of Awo, the Christian middle belt loving politician you are trying to paint is a non starter.

Again, it wasn't Ndiigbo that jailed Awo and Enahoro, your repeating it one million times will not make it true. Awo and Enahoro were jailed after they were found guilty of treason and corrupt practices by a Yoruba civilian justice.
They were marked for death by the Hausa-Fulani controlled NPC for their role in trying to break the North through their UMBC activities and their attempt to stage a civilian coup of Balewa government. They(Enahoro and Awo) were convicted CRIMINALS. They were nailed by the North and NPC, leave the Igbo man alone!

Right before Aburi, Ojukwu never recognized Gowon's authority over him, the entire war was all about Gowon forcing Ojukwu to recognize his authority which Ojukwu never did. Gowon couldn't release anybody from Eastern prison without Ojukwu's approval, you have no point. Moreover, it was the North that sent Enahoro and Awo to prison to start with, even though Awo and Enahoro through their corrupt practices, made it easy for NPC and the North.

Enahoro and Awo were CRIMINALS the core North under NPC wanted out of the political arena in the Western region for their sins of trying to destabilize the North through the AG-UMBC alliance( the Hausa-Fulani Oligarchy indicted AG led by Awo andEnahoro in the Tiv riots that wrecked the Northern region and threatened her unity) , and plans to overthrow a Northern government, and were jailed by the North. And you feel that it's diplomatic on the part of Ironsi to release such CRIMINALS? What type of message would he have sent to the then bloody thirsty North with such actions at a time tempers were running high in the North?

Zik under NCNC aligned with the North after Awo was found guilty of treachery of playing both NCNC and NPC, Awo himself allied with the remnant of the North in UMBC after he was left in the lurch by Zik and NPC, your trying to justify Awo's AG alliance with the Northern UMBC by calling them Christians is at best funny, as we know that half of Yoruba is an Islamic enclave and Northern Edo is an Islamic enclave too. Awo simply missed out on aligning with NPC due to his treachery.

Why did Zik align with the North( NPC?) well I could as well ask, why did Awo align with the North( UMBC) there is only one North after all, the one North that resisted and delayed independence.
The Jan 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup, fact.

Igbos according to Zik had been destined by God to dominate Africa, and not Nigeria, you have comprehension issues.
It takes an influential person to convince a sitting president to disregard Aburi Accord as alleged by you. The mere fact that you have devoted most of your comments here writing continually about Akenzua and crying repeatedly over his actions and inactions confirm that he is very influential even after death. The memory of an inconsequential buffon would not so much preccupy a "sane" person. By your logic even Zik too must have therefore been an inconsequential buffon for later defecting to Gowon's side against Ojukwu.

Ironically it is the Igbos that have today actually become the slaves and sixth class citizens of the Biarewanistan Republic Zik laboured hard to build by aligning with the Islamist Core-North as Igbos remain most irrelevant in Nigeria's affairs now so much that Igbos, despite being a majority, have made themselves slaves of even the SS which is a collection of formerly relatively insignificant minorities. Haven't you ever wondered why Igbos now so much attach themselves like leech to the SS which they initially did not give a damn about while Nigeria was being run in the context of Hausa/Yoruba/Igbo? Which other majority is so much attaching itself to minorities the way Igbo currently does to the SS? It is not News if a minority is seeking relevance by attaching itself to a majority. But it becomes news when a majority seeks relevance by attaching itself to minorities. That should tell you that Igbos are the only real slaves in Nigeria.

A Yoruba man created NCNC and at the time of his departure handed it over to Zik in a show of detribalized politicking. But when it was time for Zik to hand the party over, rather than give it to the Niger Delta or any other Southern minority to continue with the detribalized legacy Macaulay left behind, he gave it to an Igbo like himself and turned the whole party to an Igbo party while still chanting "one Nigeria". As at the time the Midwestern Region was created Zik and Balewa were already at daggers drawn. Moreover Zik's position in government was figurehead and 100% ceremonial thus powerless and so could not have influenced the creation of Midwest let alone install Osadebey.

The COR thing was never put to vote because Okpara used his powers as premier to deprecate it. The indegens' joy and acceptance that greeted the creation of Rivers State and South Eastern State (now cross river and Akwa Ibon) confirms that the COR region would have had its way if it were ever put to referendum the same way Midwest had a landslide when tested. In fact the Midwest landslide scared Okpara and NCNC into preventing the COR region referendum test.

Wilkins Report and reality on ground are two different things. Was it not the same Colonial masters reports that fraudulently gave more population to the North in order to give them perpetual leverage over the South and which Zik fell for in his blind "One-Nigeria" quest?

Really? Tell me more! [Igbos' fraudulent ways of reasoning and double standards again. What is mayorship of a single town compared with a whole region's premier to whom even that mayor will be subject? You people obviously think you are smart while others are kids and fools. Why not first make that Fulani man or even an Edo or Yoruba man your premier in the East before Zik came to seek premier of the West? You want to exchange a rat for a grasscutter by claiming that mayorship and premiership are of the same value. Very funny! And that's why every other tribe sees you people as very dishonest and dubious. Unfortunately you have forgotten that a lot of Igbos were voted into the Western House by yorubas, and that the post of a single mayor of a town is not at all comparable with that of elected MPs in a regional assembly in terms of power and influence. How many Yorubas occupied seats in the Eastern Regional Assembly?

I thought you already said Igbankes were very stupid for deciding by themselves to remain in Edo for fear of Asaba domination during the splitting of Bendel? So how come you have changed tune again to your claim above that they are seeking freedom from Edo "despotic reign"? Where do a people seeking freedom from despotic reign stupidly (according to you) choose to remain back when an opportunity came? You are simply confused and inconsistent. After Osadebey Edos welcomed an Igbanke man (Ogbemudia) as the next governor. In 1983 again Edos still voted freely for that same Igbanke man as governor, yet this one is here talking of Edo despotic reign over Igbanke. Keep swimming in your self-invented delusion.

[If Ojukwu actually did not support Ironsi's unification and anti-secession decrees and his failure to execute the coup plotters then what stopped him from resigning from the army in passive protest? Would the Ironsi (who could not punish Majors guilty of treason and coldblooded murders) have courtmartialled Ojukwu (A colonel) for peacefully and honourably resigning from the Army? Please save the story of military hierachy for the babe and suckling.

Trying to separate British subjects from British Empire! Do words have meaning to you at all? Benin Empire was mushroom yet it extended to present Dahomey and even after British attack and conquest the palace was re-organised and the Royal Dynasty continued. Where are the Nri Palaces now after British onslaught? Nri was not even Mushroom but toadstool kingdom.

You obviously don't know the difference between 'Islamic' and 'islamist'. The Yorubas had Islamic adherents and not islamists. Even Igbos had and still have indegenous Islamic (not Islamist) adherents in the Afikpo LGAs of Ebonyi State. Awo did not want to have any alliance with the Islamist core North thus his alliance with UMBC predated the parliamentary elections in which Zik left him in the lurch in preference for the islamists. While Awo and Enahoro went into the 1959 election with the non-islamist Makurdi based UMBC as an ally, Zik went into the election first with the Islamist Kano based NEPU and after the election went still further into a greater marriage with the larger Islamist Sokoto based NPC. So Awo's preference for the UMBC was far far before the 'alleged 'double game' which made Zik betray him for his Northern masters. So your defence is punctured.
On the double game issue: If Awo really did that, then Zik and Okpara would not have turned around just four years later to seek his hand in the UPGA merger which represented the All-south alliance which Zik earlier rejected. The mere fact that Zik ever sent Michael Okpara to Ibadan to court Awo's through Awo's wife for the UPGA alliance meant That Awo never played double game, or else Zik would not have sought his hand again for any form of alliance. However, while still serving the prison term Zik roped him into, Awo rejected Balewa's offer of freedom for him on the condition that he aligned his AG- with the Northcentric and Islamist NPC ahead of the 1964 elections, but forgave Zik from prison and ordered his AG loyalists to align with him for the all-South UPGA. Moreover it was Akintola who, in 1959, went to make a deal with Ahmadu Bello entirely out of his own volition since he (Akintola) had already been a friend of the NPC and a minister in the quasi-self government which the colonial masters put in place and headed by Balewa even before independence. Akintola knew that Awolowo's and Enahoro's anti-core-North stand was likely to strip him of his ministerial influence so, in order to preserve his friendship with the Islamist core North, he quickly went to Bello to propose an alliance between AG and NPC but without Awolowo's approval. Recall that Akintola later openly and repeatedly accused Awo of being responsible for Yorubas' absence in Balewa government's portfolios. Now, logically speaking, if it was really Awo that sent Akintola to Ahmadu Bello with that offer for an AG-NPC alliance then Akintola could never have later accused Awo of causing Yorubas' loss of portfolios to Igbos in Balewa's cabinet. He would have rather blamed Zik for snatching Balewa from him and would have refused to be used against Awo by Zik.

Gowon had the ultimate power and he did not eventually do the bidding of the Islamist Core-North, hence his overthrow by Murtala Mohammed. If Gowon was the Core-North's figure head he would not have released Awo and Enahoro - the arch enemies of the Core North.

Coker who headed the inquiry commission and that Yoruba justice were Akintola's loyalists and thus selected by Zik and Balewa because of their loyalty to Akintola. They did not choose neutral persons. Remember Zik and Balewa prevented Awo from bringing in his own lawyer to defend him?

While they were trying to break the Core North's strangehold on the South Zik and Igbos were satisfied with running anti-south errand for the Islamist Core North so as to remain their good boys.

It was political witch hunting. They were convicted criminals, yet Zik was so unprincipled to later seek UPGA alliance with them even while they were still serving the jail terms slammed on them by the very government Zik was part and parcel of. So Zik sought alliance with criminals indicted by his own government after appending his own signature to their jail order documents. Then what was Zik himself? Even Ojukwu too later sought support of the same "criminals" in his quest for freedom from Nigeria. Then something was wrong with Igbos.

The order by Gowon which released Awo also released Enahoro who was not in an Eastern Prison. So your arguement is invalid.
The NPC-NCNC evil coalition between Balewa and Zik sent Awo and Enahoro to jail. Stop trying to remove NCNC from it. Zik signed all the documents that pronounced Awo's jail term and Enahoro's. If Zik was not in support of the NPC's jailing of Awo and Enahoro, then why did he not resign from the government in protest?

Tiv riots happened while awo and Enahoro were in prison. How could they have planned and executed riots from jail? That makes it clear that their indictment on Tiv riots was as politically motivated as their indictment for the civilian coup. It was not diplomatic for Ironsi to release Awo and Enahoro whose coup was unsuccessful and hence took no life, but it was diplomatic for him to start releasing and transferring to Eastern Prisons' for safety the Igbo boys who actually killed Balewa, Bello, Maimalari, etc? May be diplomacy has a another meaning.

And what type of message did he send to the North by protecting from courtmartial the bloodthirsty Igbo coupists who actually later killed Balewa, Bello and Maimalari -the 3 leading lights of the North?

I have used superior logic to crush the double game allegation. Edo North has three tribes; Etsakos (<40% muslim), Akoko-Edos (98% Christians) and Owans (98% Christians). So Edo North muslim population is insignificant. There are also large Igbo muslim populations in Afikpo LGAs of Ebonyi and others in Enugu.

I have already punctured this double game claim with superior logic and chronology above.

Zik aligned with the Core North because, according to he himself with his own mouth; "...... an all-south alliance against the North would not augur well for national unity.......". But Awo and Enahoro aligned with the middle belt because they hated Ahmadu Bello's Born-to-rule sloganeering and the Core North's killing of Southerners already prior to that time.

If the Jan 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup then give us a list of Igbos killed by the coupists and make sure it is as long as the list of Yorubas and Northerners killed by them. That no foremost igbo politician or army officer was killed was not by sheer coincidence. It was an igbo coup. Fact!
What do you mean by " Igbos according to Zik had been destined by God to dominate Africa, and not Nigeria, you have comprehension issues"?
Is Nigeria not part of Africa? You have problem with Geography.

The above sketch is manifested by ill-educated stiff. It will not attract a rational response until the writer is able to strike the differences between “coalition and alliance”.
Your contention would have appealed to logic had I used alliance in a context synonymous with merger. Alliance and coalition are synonymous as they both mean a partial and tentative and heterogenous mix coming to pursue a common interest, while merger means a seamless coming together and complete mutual assimilation into a new homogeneous mix. Zik went into alliance/coalition with the Muslim Core North and had his fingers badly burnt.

It would be be pointless for Ekweremadu or anyone else to sponsor a bill on a referendum because such a bill will not even make first reading. And even if it does, everone out of the SE/SS zone will gather to vote it out. It is pointless to bring a referendum bill out when it is guaranteed to fail
That is at best a speculation. Until it is tried and the outcome is that way no one can confidently make any assertion as to what exactly the outcome will look like. Ekweremadu still remains in the best position to champion this course as long as the legal route is concerned. It would be a different thing if he has actually ever made an attempt and it did not succeed. At least he can do so for record purpose and posterity sake. It may not yield the desired result immediately but it will have set in unstoppable motion a very important watershed in the history of Nigeria and in the secession quest of Biafra.

Silly and meaningless repetitive rants from scurrilous midget full of inferiority slave complex. The earlier you realize your forebearers fooled you into myopically believing in this contraption and travest with "one Nigeria" catchphrase the better for you. If you truly desire to exit and are sincere about it, then ask NK to contact Ekweremadu. Till then you remain in Arewanistan Republic as a slave and sixth class citizen.

@63XR36, you don't ever argue your own points with facts and logic but with crocodile tears over being allegedly being held back in Zik's One Nigeria. If you are really sincere what exactly has been holding you back from asking your brother, Ekweremadu, to simply sponsor a bill for referendum with his power as DSP? Is it other tribes that have as well held Ekweremadu back from using his position to ask for a referendum or that your seeking of secession is mere lip service?

Bini was a mushroom empire that sucked the blood of the weak.
Bini empire was defeated in a matter of a day. Sir admiral Harry Lawson completely ransacked Bini in 10 days the war lasted. Bini. Mushroom empire fell in 10 days. Aro confederation lasted for months. Go figure!
And no, British didn't have to go anywhere to reinforce,
The first expedition by Philip failed because he didn't get British approval, he acted on his own, and it was not really a war, as there were hardly any cross fire, they were just arrested and slaughtered by few Bini boarder guards.

Yes, It made sense that they built moats. When you invade a people and they defeat you, chances are that they could pursue you all the way to your own home and try to exact revenge. Bini was being tactful with the Moats.

How exactly did Akenzua become a national figure as Bini Oba. The Akenzua known was Akenzua the civil servant that worked at Enugu, and not Akenzua that later became an Oba of a mushroom empire on its death throes if not already dead.

Oba Akenzua remained a non entity that was reduced to house Boy by Yoruba Obas in the Western house of chiefs.

No, It wasn't Zik who made that comment. This was Zik's comment:

"It would appear that the God of Africa has specifically created the Igbo nation to lead the children of Africa from the bondage of the ages".

He made that comment at an Igbo Union meeting in Aba while addressing a bunch of Igbo nationalists in Aba. That statement was lifted out of context from his long speech in that gathering in 1949 by Yoruba propaganda media. Zik only meant to energize the Igbo community to commit more into independence fight.
He never denigrated other ethnic groups and spoke ill of them. He only sought to uplift the Igbo. This is in contrast to Oba Akenzua Igbophobic article on Ndiigbo in 1965, Akintola Igbophobic "Yoruba Ronu" speech and Saraduna infamous anti Igbo speech.

While Igbos focused on uplifting themselves, other Nigerian envious groups would rather focus on bringing Ndiigbo down than channeling the effort towards lifting themselves.

But even at that, the comment remain ever true. The God of the Earth had set Ndiigbo apart as a special race, that will tower over others through sheer hardwork and will power. A city that is set on a hill never to be Hidden. A constant pain at the heart of our haters who surround us. He was only stating a fact and nothing else. And he was speaking of Africa and not even Nigeria, for Nigeria is too small a playing field for Ndiigbo.

Lol! Ironsi held the coup planners in jail because he believed that they were more safe there. I don't know of the Northern coupists being released, I thought the coup was supposed to be an Igbo coup planned and executed solely by Igbo military men, so pray tell, what Northern coupists are you talking about?

Gowon couldn't have released any body in Enugu prison without Ojukwu permission, Ojukwu controlled the East, and never recognized Gowon's power over him or the East.
If Enahoro, Awo and other Edo treacherous beings reason for working against Aburi was because of petty vendetta against imaginary perceived injustice they felt done to them by Ojukwu and Ironsi , then they were even more pathetic than I thought.
Why should they take their grouse on Ojukwu and Ironsi and then exonerate the North( under Balewa) that rightly jailed them for committing treason against Balewa's government.
Oh I forgot, Awo, Enahoro and other AG traitors blamed Zik and Ndiigbo for their sin of treason, claiming that it was Ndiigbo that set them up, while at the same time exonerated Balewa, Akintola and the Yoruba judge that served them their justice?

Yet it's this same delusional Edo and Yoruba folks that you claim were neutral and expected Ojukwu to present himself to in Bini to gang up with their Northern masters and eliminate?

A coup was carried out that eliminated Northern leaders and with nerves hot in the North, you think the wise decision for Ironsi to make was release bunch of traitors ( Awo and Enahoro) who the North put in prison for trying to depose Balewa from power? To what end?

What anti seccession decree are you talking about? Again the conditions and scenario pre July coup were not same with those of post July coup, Ojukwu stance changed to reflect that. It's as simple as that.
If Akenzua was not an influential national figure then how come only he, without arms, was able to prevent the secession attempt fought by all Igbos with weapons as you allege? Democracy is a game of numbers and numbers alone, so the Yoruba kings advantage over him was through numbers. Despite that he was able to have a region created for him away from the influence of those Yoruba chiefs unlike Igbos selfish whose grip over Eastern minorities was so tight that they could not get their COR region despite being more in number than western minorities.
You have refused to tell me why western Igbos still maintain their reverence for the Oba of Benin if Benin truly ever tried to conquer and subdue them.
To clear your ignorance about the anti-secession decree promulgated by ironsi, I refer you to the rejoinder written by an Igboman to another Igbo man's (Emeka Njokuk) article on whether Zik truly qualifies as Igbos' leader. The article is on Naijaworld and titled "RE: LEADERSHIP: IGBO PEOPLE, NIGERIA,
AFRICA AND ZIK" In it you'll see where an Igbo man admitted that Ironsi promulgated both unification and anti-secession decrees with Ojukwu's assistance.

Please go to you-tube and watch how Britain had to return home to reinforce. Videos don't lie.

The coup was an Igbo coup not by the composition of those involved but by the manner of execution. That explains the Northern detainees released by Ironsi and Ojukwu.

Awo and Enahoro coup was to be 100% bloodless and not even targetted at any innocent civilian or military officer but at Balewa alone because Balewa himself had earlier on used an executive coup to disorganize their Western Region. Ironsi and Ojukwu in their "wisdom" found it unsafe to release them, but found it safe to start releasing the Igbo boys who planned and executed a bloody coup which took the lives of innocent civilians and completely innocent military officer gentlemen. You see the wisdom of an average Igbo man?

Moreover, from the pattern of killings, ironsi himself knew deep down in him that the North already knew that the successful coup could not have been by Yorubas or Edos as it wiped out the leading lights of Yoruba, North and Edo leaving out the Igbos. So how sensible was he to claim he wanted to show concern about Balewa's and Bello's assassinations by further holding in detention all other tribes who like the North lost personalities through the coup while releasing the Igbos boys who killed that very Balewa and Bello leaving their own brothers? It does not make sense!

The Yoruba Judge who pronounced Awolowo and Enahoro jail terms acted under duress because he was purposely recruited by the governing duo of Zik and Balewa and to work against the interest of the Southwest-future Midwest-Middle Belt interest in order to further cement the Igbo-Hausa-Fulani joint interest which he did perfectly.

For the following reasons Enahoro and Awolowo could not be called traitors for ditching Igbos and going to Gowon's side when the war came as you allege:
1. Enahoro and Awolowo had always preferred to work with the Christian Middle Belt hence UMBC (United Middle Belt Congress) and AG were allies in the 1959 and 1964 elections. On the other hand Zik and Igbos had always preferred to work with the Muslim core north hence Zik's NCNC first aligned with NEPU (Northern Elements Progressive Union) and then later went into full alliance with the larger Hausa-fulani and Islamist NPC (Northern Peoples Congress).
When the Igbo-Islamist North alliance crumbled and bomeranged on Igbos, Ojukwu and Igbos now hypocrically wanted the support of the Awo and Enahoro ( part of the AG-UMBC alliance) which the Igbo-Islamist Core North alliance had been trying to kill. But Awo and Enahoro, as a matter of principles and consistency chose to remain main with Gowon representing the Middle-Belt which they had always aligned with. So how did that make them traitors like Igbos who abandoned their own Igbo-Islamist North alliance to seek the support of the South-Middle Belt alliance?
2. Awolowo and Enahoro were released by Gowon. How sensible and responsible would it have been for Enahoro and Awo to, in a war situation, choose to align with the Igbos who jailed them to fight against Gowon who released them from jail? No rational person does that. Only Igbos may do so and that explains why they were expecting Awo and Enahoro to do it.
The arguement that Ojukwu set Awo free is watery because even though Ojukwu was in control of the Eastern Region the relationship between him and Gowon had not deteriorated to the level of mutual antagonism then owing the fact that Aburi Accord which later strained alienated them had not even been dreamt of as at when Awo and Enahoro were released. So Ojukwu was still bargaining with the North over which officer should replace ironsi and thus was still under Gowon's authority to enforce the order of release of Awo. Moreover, the same order which released Awo also released Enahoro. Thank God Enahoro was not in an Eastern prison or else you Igbos would have been including him today among those whom you falsely claim Ojukwu released.

There is nothing pathetic in Awo and Enahoro allegedly working against Aburi accord based on the injustice meted to them by Ojukwu and Ironsi. After all you people defend Zik's decision to align his NCNC with Ahmadu Bello's NPC to spite Awolowo for his alleged "injustice" of instigating the alleged but false "cross-carpeting" that deprived Zik of Western Region's premiership. Igbos and double standards.

If Zik's "prophesy" of igbo domination was sincerely divinely designed and thus the truth, then why did Zik and Igbos not just allow that Igbo god itself bring about its actualization but started trying to forcefully do it themselves by aligning with the North against the rest of the South and by executing an openly tribal coup? And why was that Igbo god watching Zik when he decided to take the path of aligning with the Muslim core North despite knowing fully well that such a path was the way to doom for Igbos and would prevent the fulfilment of that prophesy while bringing about the direct opposite of Igbo massacre by Hausa-Fulanis and Igbo relegation to the background? And if that Zik's prophesy were true then how come Igbos are now asking for a pull away from Nigeria which that god destined them to rule and dominate?

No, the Western Igbo clans I meant is the current Anioma kingdoms of Agbor, Owa, Igbodo, Ubulu Ukwu, etc. They refused to be fully colonized by Edo, they fought back against Bini imperialism.
They fought wars of survival against Edo and not for expansion or imperialism.

Army is not for the faint hearted, Yorubas never fancied the military, the Igbos were into everything.

Zik was one Nigeria apologist, but even in Zik time, there were Igbos who were anti Nigerian. Zik just eclipsed them all and stamped his authority and their voices died naturally.

Edo loyalty was with the North and Yorubas, Ojukwu perception was right when Edo personalities ended up with the Nigerian contingent in Aburi. Ojukwu was spot on, not choosing Edo as a neutral ground, Edos were not neutral. The advice of Akenzua to Gowon does not in any portray neutrality.

Lol! The so called Bini mushroom empire of blood and Gore was ransacked by the British in a matter of seconds. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benin_Expedition_of_1897

I'm sure that even Arochukwu exerted more resistance to the British: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Aro_War. Read about Okoro Toti, a better commander than Bini ones.
Even the Western Igbos mounted a more serious resistance against colonialism:

Are you saying that since you believe Ironsi introduced unitary system that doesn't favour even Edos, Edos were right in kicking against true Federalism that would even favour Edo, simply because it was being pushed by another Igbo man in Ojukwu ? Talk about biting off one's nose to spite one's face.
At some point you call Benin a mushroom kingdom. At other points you call it a rampaging empire. Do words have meaning to you at all?
If the western Igbos fought a war of survival against Benin, then how come it was Benin that had to build a moat to protect herself according to you? Is this logical at all? If Benin ever actually attempted to forcefully subdue the western Igboid tribes, then how come they still so respect the Benin palace that till today no new king of theirs accepts crowning unless the Oba's delegates have arrived the coronation venue?
It took Britain four months to subdue Benin despite Britain's far more sophisticated weaponry. And at a point the British soldiers had to go back to London to reinforce. Even after British conquest Benin Kingdom still exists till today. A benin King (Akenzua) became a national political figure post-conquest. Where are the Nri and Arochukwu kings and palaces today?

All Igbos sheepishly followed Zik in his "one-Nigeria" apologetics because Zik told them that one god of Igbos had destined them to be in power over Nigeria and Africa forever and dominate all other tribes therefore. Mention just one Igbo who openly disagreed with Zik over his "One-Nigeria" doctrine back then.

Igbos were the first to befriend the Core Muslim North and show loyalty to them by helping them jail fellow southerners. Ojukwu and Ironsi worked to sustain the Hausa-Igbo friendship by releasing Hausa detainees and the coupists but holding in further detention all other southern tribes. That was a clear indication to Akenzua that Ojukwu and Igbos had not truly repented of their love for bondage under the Muslim core north. But Gowon a middle-Belt Christian came and released Enahoro and all other Southern tribes men from detention, so it was natural for Akenzua to trust a fellow Christian Gowon more than Ojukwu who was equally a Christian but had been hobnobbing with the Muslim core North to punish Southern co-Christians with further detention. Another basis for their doubt of Ojukwu's sincerity in asking for federalism and confederalism was that after Ojukwu wholeheartedly supported and cheerfully assisted Ironsi in promulgating the wicked unification and anti-secession decrees, but suddenly turned around in less than a year to start seeking Akenzua's and Enahoro's support in demanding for a reversal of those same two wicked decrees without first consulting them and tendering sincere apology for his past misdeeds. That was arrogance too far and which no one tolerates.

On the 2011 votes and Igbo significance to GEJ win, that was dealt in this thread by pazienza :https://www.nairaland.com/2689084/yorubas-fought-north-make-goodluck/4

Funny enough, that thread was opened by an Edo person. Without Igbo votes in 2011, there wouldn't have been a GEJ win.

Igbos knew that GEJ was not Igbo. Lol! GEJ can't speak Igbo, but we are not the type to bite off our nose to spite our face. GEJ embraced Ndiigbo from the beginning, his wife has roots in Ohuhu Umuahia, he called us his own, and we reciprocated in kind.
He didn't do much for us, but same can be said of the Yoruba and Northern past presidents too. Under GEJ equity was restored to the polity, and whenever equity reigned, Igbos would out thrived others.

This was the Edo/ Yoruba / North grouse with GEJ, not because he did much for Ndiigbo, cos he didn't, but because he restored equity to the polity , and equity is like fertilizer to Ndiigbo.

Both Enahoro and Akenzua were in Lagos rolling on the floor for Gowon and Northern military leaders, and worked against the East for the North. but today neither of them or their people have anything to show for it. Even Asaba has surpassed Bini city in most things.
"[ It is a known fact that Enahoro was one of the proponents of Starvation policy, Awo wathe poster boy of it]"

Awolowo's gave his advice to gowon as a Minister under Gowon. Enahoro was not part of Gowon's government, so your attempt to glue Enahoro to that policy is artificial and mischievous.

This vindicates my stand that Igbos do everything out of political expediency and not for principles or based on truth. If you really have issues against Edoids why wait till they purportedly decided to express igbophobia? It was just like how Ojukwu watched the massacre of Igbos and never complained until it affected him politically as Ironsi was kicked out of power. Edoids on the other hand started expressing their Igbophobia Since after the 1967 Midwest invasion by Igbos.

"[ Ojukwu was born in the North, fluent in Hausa and Yoruba language. Who in his right senses would take seriously the Ojukwu, an Oxford University graduate for that matter, whom it took 5 incidents of massacre of his own people to see the light and thus began to ask for confederation? That was not naivete at all but political desperation carried too far. No university graduate at his age 34 years can be so sincerely naïve. A serious and sincere person should not have once more believed that there was still hope of national unity after Zik's NPC-NCNC alliance could not stop Northerners from continuing with shedding Igbo blood after the 1945 and 1953 massacres let alone the 1966 one which happened under Ironsi. This was why no one took Ojukwu too seriously in his later demand for all what not as they feared he could still later capitulate to the North as he had been demonstrating with his sending of wounded Igbos back to the scene of horror.
If his sending back of Igbos to the North was "genuinely" about indicating constant readiness for national unity then he should have sent them back again the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, .............. times until Northerners stopped killing them.
Was he naive for ever believing in Nigerian unity and giving this unity a chance, even at the cost of the life of his people? Tough question for posterity to answer.

"[Was declaring secession from Nigeria that period the right decision, absolutely. There is no nation if citizens can't reside peacefully without being massacred in any part of the nation. A country that can't guarantee it's citizens safety within its territory is a dead country.]"

The only effective way to have guarantee citizens' safety in Nigeria like any other country is by putting in place a very strong constitution which unfortunately was prevented through Zik who, by virtue of his level of education and exposure, knew that secession clause was part of the constitutions of all the countries with the highest records of citizens' safety guarantee as of then.

"[Lol! Genuine detribilazation and self-delusion are worlds apart. A people who keep justifying a clearly tribal coup in which their own brothers killed erring public officers of all other tribes and left their own brothers who were equally culpable can only be fooling themselves by later trying to prove detribalized by voting against their own hero and for man who was already misgoverning.

Rigging in 2003 happened only in the SW. Why did Ojukwu not go to court? OBJ/PDP swept it in the SE. Ndigbo could not have voted for any other party. Why not prove that detribalized nature in 2015 by voting against Jonathan Azikiwe but for Buhari who did not adopt Azikiwe as his name?

"[ Igbos cry of marginalization, because we know we are worth more than Nigeria can ever offer us. Not even Igbo presidency will stop Igbo cry for independence from the colonial contraption, as it stands.]"

A wide- off-the-mark remark. Igbo votes were rigged in 2011. Most Igbos states' votes for GEJ were inflated as their total votes or almost equalled or even exceeded the number of registered votes. Ask Pazienza to juxtapose the voters register figures with those results and you'll see the fraud. So the Edo poster knew exactly what he was saying.

"[Igbos knew that GEJ was not Igbo. Lol! GEJ can't speak Igbo, but we are not the type to bite off our nose to spite our face. GEJ embraced Ndiigbo from the beginning, his wife has roots in Ohuhu Umuahia, he called us his own, and we reciprocated in kind.]"

If GEJ was not Igbo then how does he become Igbos nose which you now claim Igbos refuse to cut to spite their face? See me see wonder!
Your support for GEJ was also a matter of political expediency and not as a matter of principle. It was for the expectation that he would hand over to Ndigbo in 2019 if he had won in 2015.

"[He didn't do much for us, but same can be said of the Yoruba and Northern past presidents too. Under GEJ equity was restored to the polity, and whenever equity reigned, Igbos would out thrived others.]"

If Igbos knew they would thrive better than others whenever equity reigned then why reject the secession clause that would have instituted eternal equity in Nigeria?

" [This was the Edo/ Yoruba/ North grouse with GEJ, not because he did much for Ndiigbo, cos he didn't, but because he restored equity to the polity, and equity is like fertilizer to Ndiigbo.]"

If at all Edo people collectively express grouse for GEJ, it was for his political expediency engendered naïve belief in pleasing the North to the detriment of the South like Ojukwu and Zik did and got their fingers badly burnt. Festus Odimegwu and other very prominent and realistic Igbos also observed that crass laxity in GEJ and spoke out against it. Odimegwu rote articles upon articles on that. But other Igbos like you who love lies insulted him and claimed he was being used by yorubas and Hausas. I guess you'll even say Festus Odimegwu is Yoruba or Edo.

Hahahaha, and Zik himself ran to Lagos and fell in front of the gate to Gowon's office rolling on the bare ground working and against Biafra after he realized Nigeria was winning. I agree with you that Asaba is better than Warri, Benin, Lagos, Aba, PH, Calabar, London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, San Francisco, etc. Very childish utterance aimed at political correctness and expediency as usual. On the contrary, from the beginning, I tied Edo aspirations to that of Yorubas, and rightly so. So you see, Yoruba were part of the discussion from the word go.

The discussion is centered around secession clause purportedly proposed by an EDO( Enahoro) and Yoruba ( Awo) persons, which the Edos and Yorubas now hide behind as the reason for their current "one Nigeria" stand, since they delusionally believe that Ndiigbo were the ones that denied their leaders Awo and Enahoro the opportunity to leave the union.

The Ijaws share no part in this secession clause and does not in any way make remarks about them.
It' the Yorubas and Edos that do. So it's basically impossible to separate Yoruba and Edos in this discussion, but it's only desperation that is making you to tag the Ijaws along, as I had showed they have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion, you as an Edo using the Ijaw angle is only an act of desperation, I can only discuss such with an Ijaw, or you can open thread about that separately.

You are yet to show any colonial evidence to prove that the secession clause was ever offered as an option to Nigerian groups, until you do so, we can only continue to go in circle, until you do, Zik cannot botch what never existed. I noticed you have dropped the Ethiopia- Eritrea angle.

No violence from Kanu. Kanu only reply those who threaten violence on Bia*** and Bia***ns, only a tree hears that it is about to be cut down and stays still.
Show me the so called Kanu violent speeches, and I will show you more violent ones from Edo/ Yoruba/ Northern elements that elicited that, actions bring about reactions. Today your Security agents are shooting at unarmed IPOBians and MASSOBians, unleashing untold violence on them, tomorrow when they decide to take it no more and pick up arms, you run Around accusing them of being a violent group, when in truth, they were only defending themselves from the real violent ones, ie Nigerians.

Yes, the very fact that Aburi accord was not about secession, proves the fact that Ojukwu and Ndiigbo were never up for secession, we just wanted a place we can call our own, free from the northern massacre.
History has it that Gowon had already agreed to the agreements at Aburi, until Edoid and Yoruboids voices started whispering to hid ears when he returned back to Lagos that true Federalism equates to secession, and must be resisted even if it meant war.

The same Edoids and Yoruboids that go about the social media today telling any that care to listen that a demand for referendum by IPOB and MASSOB must be interpreted as a demand for war.
"[On the contrary, from the beginning, I tied Edo aspirations to that of Yorubas, and rightly so. So you see, Yoruba were part of the discussion from the word go.]"

The I too was free to tie Edo defence to the Ijaw narrative and I rightly did. Is what is good for the goose no longer good for the gander?

"[ The discussion is centered around secession clause purportedly proposed by an EDO( Enahoro) and Yoruba ( Awo) persons, which the Edos and Yorubas now hide behind as the reason for their current "one Nigeria" stand, since they delusionally believe that Ndiigbo were the ones that denied their leaders Awo and Enahoro the opportunity to leave the union.]"

And I have been making it clear that Edos and Yorubas still believe in secession but not ready to risk going about it in concert with Igbos because Igbos are hypocritic insincere about secession but only crying for it because they are no longer in charge of "One-Nigeria" and that if anything returns them to power once more and they begin to benefit from the fraud they'll tag as tribalists whoever talks of secession. They did so before when they felt they needed other tribes to survive.

[ The Ijaws share no part in this secession clause and does not in any way make remarks about them.
It' the Yorubas and Edos that do. So it's basically impossible to separate Yoruba and Edos in this discussion, but it's only desperation that is making you to tag the Ijaws along, as I had showed they have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion, you as an Edo using the Ijaw angle is only an act of desperation, I can only discuss such with an Ijaw, or you can open thread about that separately.]"

The Ijaws were mentioned by me not in connection with the secession clause proposal but as an evidence to prove you wrong on the claim that Ojukwu's and Zik's craze about "One-Nigeria" was informed by fear of Britain.

"[ You are yet to show any colonial evidence to prove that the secession clause was ever offered as an option to Nigerian groups, until you do so, we can only continue to go in circle, until you do, Zik cannot botch what never existed. I noticed you have dropped the Ethiopia- Eritrea angle.]"

You assumed there is no evidence that Enahoro proposed secession clause and you've ironically been trying to rationalize Zik's rejection of it. Hmmm!
Yes I dropped the Eritrea Angle after I successfully used it to puncture your over-exaggeration of British approval/disapproval in determining the outcome of the quest for secession in Africa.

"[No violence from Kanu. Kanu only reply those who threaten violence on Bia*** and Bia***ns, only a tree hears that it is about to be cut down and stays still.

Kanu has a Radio Biafra through which he makes his hate speeches. He even once called Jonathan a fool. In fact all members of Radio BIAFRA Facebook page call SS people fools and slaves of the North for being indifferent to Biafra movement. Go visit it. But Edo collectively has no online Page dedicated to insulting any other tribe in Nigeria.

" [Yes, the very fact that Aburi accord was not about secession, proves the fact that Ojukwu and Ndiigbo were never up for secession, we just wanted a place we can call our own, free from the northern massacre.

And the very fact that Enahoro proposed secession clause did not really mean he wanted secession but that he was only trying to make a constitutional provision that would have instilled into all our future leaders the fear of the consequences of misgovernance thus Nigeria would not have been so misgoverned to attract a military coup which culminated in a national tragedy of genocidal proportions.
Awolowo visited Ojukwu severally to discuss with him why he should not resort to war but to keep appealing for wider sympathy and support for implementation
But ojukwu followed his heart and not his head. If Awolowo and Enahoro were really the ones whispering into Gowon's ears to throw away the Aburi document then why did Ojukwu not shoot Awo dead when he came visiting to advice him against war? Remember Ojukwu hated double playing? Ifeajuna's execution was an example.

"[The same Edoids and Yoruboids that go about the social media today telling any that care to listen that a demand for referendum by IPOB and MASSOB must be interpreted as a demand for war.]

Yes of course! Referendum for secession is not provided for in our constitution courtesy of Igbos' rejection of it. So it is illegal and asking for war for Igbos to make an unconstitutional demand.
The advice Edos have always had for Ndigbo is to get their NASS members to sponsor a bill for a restructuring which will capture confederal features, and then lobby the SS, SW and Middle-Belt for support so as to make majority against the core-North which is against it. That way Igbo will get secession peacefully.
Again, stop forcefully attaching to other groups in SS, this discussion is about Edos, Yorubas, Ndiigbo and Zik.

I am sure the other groups in SS can speak for themselves and don't need an Edo spokesperson. You don't see Edo in any proposed Bia*** map, do you?

How exactly has Kanu speech been Violent? All perceived violent speeches from Kanu were all in retaliation to violent speeches from the camps of Edo, Yorubas and their Northern owners. Yes, if you listen to RB, you will know that IPOB has been demanding for referendum on all her perceived Bia*** territories.

If Edo declared Independence and Zik mobilized the state to invade Edo, you would have had a point, but none of those scenario happened, which is why you are desperately trying to rope in Ijaws, whose scenario happened after the Edo own could or could not have happened, depending on Edo actions. We can only speak on things that happened and not on things you think could have happened.

Edo needed not to pick up arms, all they needed was stand by Aburi, which ensured equity for Edos themselves, or atleast try to stay away from corrupting Gowon's mind over Aburi.
When we started this debate it was strictly about Edoid and Igbo, but it was you who brought in Yorubas mention to buttress your point. Are you yourself Yoruba? Please check backwards. So why now trying to stop me too from citing Ijaws to buttress mine? Double standards?
You know the Ijaw experience narrative is the most powerful and unassailable evidence of Igbos guilt and hypocrisy in Nigeria hence you are not comfortable with it thus you keep trying to conceal it. I will keep using it because there lies the ugliest part of Igbo oppression of the Southern minorities.

I have repeatedly told you that Edo was not interested in seeking independence through an unconstitutional self declaration that would warrant attack from Nigeria, but through the results of referendum which Zik botched. Must we seek independence the in the way Igbos want it? Why do Igbos always assume people must do things according to their own opinion? I don't get it!

If you don't see violence and unprovoked hate messages in Kanu's speeches then I wonder the Radio Biafra site you visit online.

Even the Aburi Accord was not a call for independence.
I thought you already argued that there was no guarantee that the secession clause would have been obeyed if Zik had allowed it into our constitution? So why are you now assuming that there was a guarantee that Aburi accord would have been obeyed if Edos had supported it (without prejudice to the falsehood in that claim anyway)?

From the beginning Enahoro was pro-peaceful and bloodless seccesion and anti-bloody secession. Ojukwu's approach was a matter of bloodshed so he rejected it as a matter of principles. Enahoro placed lives of innocent civilians over political expediency while Ojukwu placed political expediency over innocent lives. Go figure.
What did Ojukwu achieve for his people too after the war? If Ndigbo are shining in "One-Nigeria", then why are they complaining of marginalization everyday now? Zik deceived Ndigbo by initially supporting Biafra but later abandoned them for the side of "One-Nigeria" after "One-Nigeria" had killed over 3 million Igbos. GEJ adopted Azikiwe's name and with that lost an election. The Zik of Africa and "One Nigeria" died as Owele of Onitsha. Even Ojukwu your hero and Zik's brother refused to attend Zik's burial but attended that of Awolowo - Zik's arch enemy.

How so? When Enahoro was one of the major proponents of Starvation of Bia***ns, unless of course you meant the lives of his fellow Edos.

Ojukwu sent his massacred people back to the North after the first massacre, and yet again they were massacred, Ojukwu negotiated peaceful resolution of the conflict in Aburi which the Akenzua and co destroyed. How exactly that translated to Ojukwu sacrificing the life of his people for political expediency is beyond my understanding.

Ojukwu achieved for us dignity, the Igbo man will forever be grateful to him for that.

We are crying of marginalization, even though we receive from Nigeria 1 million Times what Edo can ever receive, because we know we can achieve so much more as an independent nation.

GEJ won 2011 election with Azikiwe. I wonder why he never chose to answer Enahoro? Could it be because he knew that both Enahoro and his people are completely irrelevant in the Nigerian political sphere?
Again, Edo voting massively for Buhari against an Ijaw man in GEJ goes further to buttress my point of Edo not being in tandem politically or culturally with Edos.

Zik died a celebrated man. Nnamdi Azikwe airport Abuja is not in Onitsha, it's in Abuja, 500 naira is not used only in Onitsha, it's used all over Nigeria, Edo has nobody in their entire history that could ever tie the shoe strings of Zik.

Enahoro on the other hand is a non entity, not known outside Edo state, even his people had to beg the FG to give him state burial to no avail.
So Enahoro has suddenly become the Awolowo whom you people accuse of proposing the starvation policy. That is a symptom of inconsistency.
It was the duty of every leader then to protect his own people. All others did but Zik and Ojukwu did not. So how was that Enahoro's fault?

Ojukwu knew that Hausas had in 1945 and 1953 demonstrated their hatred for and strong will to always massacre Igbos for flimsy excuses yet he kept sending Igbos back to the North in the name of seeking peace. That was nothing other than unnecessary human sacrifice for political expediency of "peace". If he were totally Ignorant of the 1945 and 1953 massacres I would have agreed that his sending those Igbos back in 1966 was naïve and innocent.
Ojukwu whom you claimed did so much for Igbos failed to get up to 10% of Igbo votes in 2003 while OBJ a Yoruba man and lackey of the North swept the rest over 90%. That logically means Ojukwu did not really achieve much for Igbos or Igbos are simply ingrates. The APGA which Ojukwu left for them is in a state of atrophy today as both PDP and APC each has more Igbo members than APGA.

You are very correct to say that Igbos are crying of marginalization despite receiving a million times what Edo can ever receive. Yes you are, beacuse it vindicates my position that Igbos' cry of marginalization is not a cry over injustice but a cry over being refused to be in charge of that injustice and fraud called "One-Nigeria". Once they are in charge of the fraud they'll shut up.

GEJ won in 2011 with the votes of SS, SW and Middle-Belt each being higher than that of SE. He lost when Igbos started claiming to own him more than the SW, Middle Belt and even his own SS. He won in Edo, Imo State too gave a very high percentage of their votes to Buhari. GEJ chose to answer Azikiwe because he knew Igbos could easily be courted with mundane things. That was why Igbos did not bother when he abandoned the SE and pumped billions into infrastructure for the North. To Igbos, adopting the name, was more than infrastructural development.

Edos don't ever pray to have someone like Zik who watched his people's blood being shed yet continued chanting "One-Nigeria". Tufiakwa!!!!!!!

A lot of Igbos don't celebrate Zik. Even Ojuwkwu the overall Igbo leader called Zik a dreamer who left Ndigbo unclad and unprotected. Ojukwu purposely refused to attend his burial in order to spite his corpse. A man who was never stable in his life. Always aligned with the Norther feudal Oligarchy against the South. Edo will never have such a person.

They are just being sensible and realistic. Edoids and Yorubas are not necessarily trying to hold Igbos back in Nigeria as a punitive measure for their prevention of the upholding of the secession clause. No! They are only not interested in using violence to seek secession from "One-Nigeria". Igbos obviously want blood, but all other tribes don't. Not even all Igbos are into this call for bloody secession. Some sensible ones are, like Edoids and Yorubas, asking for a restructured constitution that will allow peaceful secession. Does that make such Igbos "One-Nigeria" appologists?

There exists not one single pro secession violent Igbo group, both IPOB and MASSOB are all unarmed groups, so pray tell how Ndiigbo are leading a violent secession? We want blood because we say that we no longer want to share a nation with alien Edos, Yorubas and Northerners? Is that your definition of violence?

A demand for referendum is a demand for violence?
Have you yourself not been the one suggesting all over this thread that Enahoro and Edos were cowards for choosing to seek secession by constitutional and civil means rather than take up arms and join Ojukwu and Igbos in the bloody fight for Biafra? Are the speeches being made by Nnamdi Kanu on Radio Biafra not violence instigating? Has Kanu ever made a speech demanding referendum or that all his speeches have been about how he will take over the SS states whether they like it or not, and that Nigeria is a Zoo? What is the non-violence in all of that?

Nri kingdom never subjugated any Igbo or non Igbo group, they were not empire builders, we can't say same of Bini.

Igbos had more officers because they embraced education more than the North. The North had more lower ranked officers, you needed education to be higher ranked, little wonder the likes of Buhari were allowed to scale through the higher ranks without pre requisite certificates.

The colonial masters wanted the Best, and fortunately Ndiigbo were the best.

The idea of Ndiigbo being more pliant to British colonial plans is a funny one, seeing as no Nigerian group resisted British rule more than Ndiigbo. The Ekumeku war, the Aba Women riots, the Anglo-Aro war, etc are testaments the the Igbo resistance to colonialism.

Ojukwu rejected Bini as a venue, because he knew that Edo was not neutral, Enahoro, and Akenzua were on the Gowon and Nigerian team, the choice of Aburi was well thought out, after what happened to Ironsi at Ibadan.

Edo was not part of the Aburi agreement, yet Edo persons were amongst the Nigerian contingent at Aburi, and the agreement would have given Midwest, the Edo enclave a regional autonomy and federalism.
I thought you already said Nri Kingdom gave the Benin Kingdom a run for its money so much that Benin had to protect itself from Nri onslaught by building moats facing the East? If not for expansionism and empire building intents what then was the motivation of that purported Nri onslaught which, according to you, forced Benin insulate itself with moats?
If level of education was responsible for Igbos dominance in the army as regards commissioned officers then how come Yorubas who so embraced education and pioneered the making of it free had far less commissioned officers than Igbos and Hausas put together? Igbos were actually pliant to British rule and Zik demonstrated that Igbo pliant nature by always believing in preserving and sustaining the "One-Nigeria" fraud created by Britain. If Igbos were not pliant why didn't just a single one of them ever rebel against Zik over that?

Your theory of Igbo resistance to British rule is not logical as resistance to British rule was not by Aba Women's riot that happened after British rule had started but about fighting against the very introduction of British rule for which Oba Ovoramwen was a quitessence unlike Igbos who offered no single resistance to the incoming of Britain.

As at the time a peace meeting was being sought between Ojukwu and Gowon with Benin as the proposed venue, Edos had not killed or spoken against any Igbo man despite the fact that Okotie-Eboh a very prominent Edoid son had just been murdered in cold blood by Ifeajuna-Igbo. So how come you now claim Ojukwu rejected Benin because Edo people were not neutral about the issues as of that moment?
The truth is Enahoro was released from Ironsi's/Ojukwu's further detention by Gowon and ordinarily could and should have, in vengeance against Ojukwu and Igbos, rightly decided never to mediate between Gowon and Ojukwu. But he forgave Ojukwu's/Ironsi's past and offered himself together with Akenzua as mediators thus was neither on Nigeria's or Biafra's side. But Ojukwu's paranoia engendered by guilty conscience and shame would not allow him sit face to face with Enahoro in Benin hence his rejection of Benin.

If you now argue that Aburi Accord would have given the Midwest autonomy and federalism then how does that tally with the claim of 99% Igbos that Ironsi's Unification Decree did not dismantle federalism?

But in an amalgamated Nigeria Edoids had become averse to violence and conquest, and had become used to modern and civilised ways of life and thus never used or believed in violence again and consistently do not still believe in it till today owing much to the fact that compared with both Igbos and Ijaws they were disproportionately too few in army before and after independence and even up till now 2016. So how could a people who knew they didn't have the military back up take an option which required full scale violence? It does not make sense"

Lol! Bini empire was a mushroom empire that thrived on Blood and subjugation of smaller weaker groups around them, but most Western Igbo clans more than gave the Binis a run for their money, there is a reason the Bini moats were built facing East, go figure!

No, Binis were reduced to minority group in Nigeria, the moment most smaller groups that they loaded it over United and formed Large ethnic groups like 20 Times the populations of Bini. Without population to match the bigger groups, Edo became naturally irrelevant in larger scheme of things. It was never intentional on Edos to.become relevant.

Where some groups are too naive to join bigger groups to neutralize Edo, the Binis still exerted their pre colonial subjugation, as can be seen with the case of Igbanke that stupidly, chose to stand alone rather than join the rest of Western Igbolan during the creation of Delta state for the fear of Agbor dominance.

Edo didn't need military back up to ensure weaker centre that Ojukwu campaigned for in Aburi, all they needed was support it, or simply let it be, instead of going extra mile to work against it like Enahoro and Akenzua did.
Edo was disproportionately few in the military in that era and even now because Edo simply does not have the population, they are minority among minorities.
Nri Kingdom too thrived on blood and rituals to survive. If representation in the army followed population proportions then how come Igbos had more commissioned officers than the entire North whose population was multiple that of Igbos? Edo was not proportionally represented in the army because of the fact that the colonial masters deliberately gave administrative power to Hausas and gave military power to Igbos as these were the two most pliant and amenable tribes to their selfish interest.

Edo's were not interested in Aburi because Ojukwu had already rejected Benin as the meeting point claiming he would be killed there. Also the Aburi and all other trash was an issue between WaZoBia and Edo with other minorities had no business with it. Why could Ojukwu not patiently wait and consult more widely before declaring Biafra?

Your claim that Benin moats were built facing the East betrays crass Ignorance. Benin moats surrounded the city entirely.

You can cry as you like about Igbankes' decision to remain in Edo. Only Igbos see everything every other people's decision as stupid without caring to know why dey did so. Self-opinionated people. No wonder everyone abandoned them during the war.

@Deadlytrash, I honestly feel your eternal pains especially as you and your inconsequential Uneme-Nekhua people brace up to spend the rest of your miserable lives with your Fulani masters.

Up till now you have consistently failed to point out the contributions of your Uneme-Nekhua elites to the Nigerian project. With all your rantings up and down you can't man up to list the Uneme-Nekhua elites that mattered during pre-independence/independence era.

At the outset when Boko Haram was spilling Igbo bloods and destroying Igbo places of worship and businesses in the North, what was the response of your ass-licking elites?
Your kinsmen revelled in that wicked act and barbarism and even blamed Igbos for 'stupidly' sojourning to dangerous terrains for business. They accused Igbos of loving money more than their lives. And you confused bigot still had the guts to cast aspersions on the Igbo Nation for choosing to have a separate existence from greedy, treasury looters cum murderous parasites.

Over the decades the marauding herdsmen have been ravaging your land and killing your people for fun. How many threads and topics have you and your cowardly Uneme-Nekhua people created on NL to register your protest against such dastardly acts?

How many of your Uneme-Nekhua kinsmen dare challenge the marauding herdsmen for wieding ak-47?

What efforts have your Uneme-Nekhua elites put in to counter the hate speeches in mosques and the unconscionable, cold-hearted waste of human lives and reckless destruction of means of livelihoods going on in the North for decades?

Can you show such credible evidences where you and your people rose in unison to condemn the dastardly acts, especially by your masters, going on for many decades now unabated?

NK have achieved what your whole generation dread to do. NK stood and looked your masters eyeball to eyeball while many of you hide under your beds trembling. Is that not why many of you loud-mouthed hypocrites shout, "kill Kanu", "hang Kanu" as if that will lessen your eternal miseries.

It's only hypocrites that come online forming holier-than-thou attitude online while indeed they are ravenous wolves in sheep clothing who commit worst crimes than what they accuse others for.

This is your latent fear: the fear of Fulanis plundering your entire land, islamisation, no free crude oil wealth and eventual low economic activities in your land once Biafr* emerges.

You desparately want Igbos and Easterners to remain in this fraudulent union so that they can help you treacherous backst*bbers wade off Dan Fodio's descendants whenever they recommence their jihad.
Your eternal portion remains with your Fulani masters in OduaArewanistan republic.

Enjoy the fruit of the seed of treachery and gross wickedness you and your confused people sowed some decades ago!
Which people sold the South to the North and thereby brought on themselves all the calamities you listed above? This is the question you have cleverly refused to answer. Until you answer this simple question the punishment and nemesis of the ruining of Nigeria will continue to be on you as a burden of guilt. Why not form a party again and align it with the North to hound fellow Southerners as you have always done as your stock in trade. Nonsense!
