zedman1:My brother I am more tired of indomie generation youths than you. The greatest problem we have in Nigeria today is this category of youths who know nothing and are not ready to even do a single independent minded research about the recent past let alone the distant one. They just come online to expose their ignorance all in pursuit of partisan affiliation and sympathy. And to imagine that these are the same youths accusing the older generation of failure and asking to be given power is really an irony. Nigeria is already doomed presently but with these set of youths in power the doom that will befall Nigeria will make the present one look like prosperity. |
somehow:Don't mind them. No genuine commitment to truth in their ways. All they know is to tie everything to partisan politics yet they want a better country ironically. |
Speakright79:Likewise, the restoration of history will teach you Igbos how your parents like Azikiwe and others were so dumb that they chanted one-Nigeria and repeatedly entered into political alliances with Fulanis and the very Ahmadu Bello you people have now turned around to label terrorists. It will also show to you Igbos how your fathers like Azikiwe, Ojukwu and Ironsi crushed all other tribes' attempts to break up Nigeria but later turned around to seek Biafra and expected support from those other tribes automatically as if they are idiots |
membranus:So the Obasanjo who removed history from our curriculum is a Fulani man? The tendency of some Nigerians to twist facts for political capital is simply mind-boggling. |
EjaikreTheViper:You are actually the ignoramus here. What that monicker wrote there are the hard facts. History was removed from our curriculum by Obasanjo and the PDP and recently restored by Buhari. The same Obasanjo also made the decree which transferred missionary schools to the Fulani-controlled federal government till today. Indomie generation youths like you are one of our greatest problems in this country |
DSC7:Please get your facts right. History was removed from our curriculum by the PDP and Obasanjo as at when APC had not come into existence. |
Lastmankc:Ortom is only trying to be politically correct, else he should have been honest enough to tell his admirers like you that it was his party PDP and Obasanjo that removed History from our curriculum. Or you think he doesn't really know that it was his party that did that? |
Asgard73:. Unfortunately even Ortom too is not sincere as he refused to specifically mention that it was PDP his party and Obasanjo that removed history from our curriculum. Why do you think he chose not to name names? |
valentineuwakwe:God bless you for saying this truth Obasanjo is one terrible evil capitalizing on the gullibility of Nigerians, especially the crassly ignorant indomie generation, to play saint and it is perfectly working for him. I am always ashamed of the youths of today who are too lazy to search up simple facts from google but will just believe lies being spread by those seeking political correctness. Obasanjo and Jonathan removed history from our curriculum and Orton knows this but failed to include it in his outburst because it will generate questions against his party in rational minds. The same evil Obasanjo was the one who, as military HOS made the decree that transferred missionary schools to the fulani-controlled federal military government but today the shameless hypocrite and crass opportunist is going around shouting fulanization agenda just like Nwabueze is now preaching restructuring after advising Ironsi to dismantle our true federalism and replacing it with this unitary system. |
Akwamkpuruamu:Political correctness does no one any good on the long run. Obasanjo removed history from our curriculum on the excuse that the teaching of it will always refresh old wounds and thereby impede national unity and one-Nigeria. It was however restored recently by Buhari. |
giantstar:Are you suggesting that Obasanjo is now a British man? It was Obasanjo who that removed history from our curriculum |
Sunday2021:. You alone have said the truth. It was Obasanjo and PDP that removed history from our curriculum but most commentators here have again chosen to politicize the issue by directly and indirectly accusing APC just for political correctness. This shows that even the history of how history was removed is being distorted hence nothing can't be distorted in Nigeria for political capital. |
bolaayenimo:He is working? How please? Have you been to Benin City recently? I hope your assessment of him is not based on social media posts. |
agbonkamen:They have been togbarred and ogbanified by the Ogbane himself. |
Kreme:Those people are pathetic revisionists led by Nnamdi Cownu and his shameless false narratives. What you posted in response is the whole truth about how Igbo greed led to the mess we are in today. They wanted one Nigeria with Hausafulanis even though they were already being slaughtered in the North by the same Hausafulanis. What an anomalous people |
Mozegee:You must be of the indomie generation seduced by revisionist tales. Haven't you ever heard that as far back as 1954 (23 years before Biafra idea ever crossed Ojukwu's mind) Awolowo had foreseen the mess we are in today and therefore moved motion for secession clause only for your uncle Azikiwe to successfully fight against and kill it on the floor of the pre-independence parliament? Haven't you ever heard that Awolowo and Ojukwu reached an agreement that he (Awolowo) would go and do consultations in Ibadan for two weeks and give Ojukwu feed back before they would both opt for secession of the South only for Ojukwu to declare Biafra just three days into the agreed two weeks period? Haven't you also ever read it that Awolowo ended up dumping Ojukwu finally because Ojukwu placed on a very important position in Biafra secession project the very Azikiwe who had frustrated all Awolowo's previous motions for secession and even called on the colonial overlords to threaten Awolowo with treason charges and consequent imprisonment if Awolowo didn't stop pushing for secession clause? Haven't you ever read it that the same Ojukwu the Biafra warlord was the one who fought Isaac Adaka Boro, got his men killed, arrested him and sent him the military high command in Lagos under Aguiyi Ironsi who got him sentenced to death by hanging for declaration of the secession of Niger Delta Republic from Azikiwe's one-Nigeria? Mr. Man, please go and study history deeply so you can criticize from an informed position rather than rely on Nnamdi Kanu's half baked narratives which is nothing but an admixture of truth and falsehood. |
Northernblood3:So if all Ojukwu was after was to capture Gowon at the Nigerian capital, then why did he order Biafran soldiers to divert on their way right into Benin City to start looking for David Ejoor and occupying Midwest towns and cities? Was Gowon in Benin or in any of those towns and cities of the Midwest? I think it's you who needs to apply logic when analyzing history. |
sonety2k:Those guys are pathetic revisionists They will never mention the fact that this same Ojukwu of theirs supported Ironsi's Anti-secession Decree and his death sentence on Isaac Adaka Boro over this same secession issue. |
Steve28:Don't mind them. They don't ever talk of how their brother Nnamdi Azikiwe repeatedly killed Awolowo's and Enahoro's secession clause motion that would have made Biafra secession very easy and bloodless for Ojukwu. |
Northernblood3:Revisionism at its peak. Go and get your facts right. Ojukwu was actually the betrayer as he declared the war when the two weeks he agreed with Awo to go back to Ibadan for consultations had not yet elapsed. Secondly in the very beginning of the war Ojukwu gave a very sensitive and one of the most important positions in Biafra to Azikiwe who was the originator of one-Nigerianism philosophy and had the record of having sabotaged all Awolowo's previous attempts to make room in the constitution for peaceful break up of Nigeria. Ask yourself if you would agree to be part of a project in which you will be under the supervision of the very person who once sabotaged your own efforts to start that same project on an earlier date. |
Very soon he will come out to defend himself again with the narrative that Edo State PDP chapter is fighting him because he refused their demand to share the state's funds for them in addition to fighting godfatherism in PDP. The worst part of it all is that majority of Edo State natives will fall for the gimmick a second time while forgetting that he actually shared the state's funds for the PDP to be admitted into the party and given the last guber ticket unopposed. If Edo State voters could fall for the cheap campaign gimmick in 1999 that Lucky Igbinedion would govern well because as Oredo LGA chairman he used to share his salary for market women, then it won't be any surprise if they fall again for this new tale of fighting PDP godfathers that Obaseki is very likely to come up with very soon. |
OROSUNBOLB:Point of note: In actual fact Akoko-Edo people are of the following tribes: Etuno, Okpameri, Uneme, Ososo, Okpe, Ikpeshi, etc. The only Yorubas that were ever part of Akoko-Edo are the Imeris who have however been regrouped with their kit and kin in Ondo State through the boundary adjustments that accompanied the 1991 states creation by the IBB administration. The Akoko tag in the name "Akoko-Edo" is of mere geographical connotation. On the other tribes you listed, eg Olukumi, Itsekiri, Okun (Kabba), I agree perfectly with you that they are Yorubas ancestrally. |
Casham:Ojukwu was as well no fan of Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello. But sincerity demanded that he described them for whom they really were as regards the question of disposition to one-Nigeria project. To be nearer home Ojukwu never considered either Ahmadu Bello or Awolowo as tribalists, but as realists who put their people's interest first in a Nigeria that was nothing more than a British experiment which, from glaring evidences, was more likely to fail than succeed, hence not deserving any strong commitment or sacrifice on the part of any of the component ethnicities. Only Azikiwe chose to close his eyes to that glaring and naked reality in pursuit of the vainglorious 'Zik of Africa' title by which he ended up placing his kinsmen in harm's way. Else how could Zik (a graduate of Anthropology for that matter) be the only one espousing the forced cohabitation of different peoples with diverse and in fact diametrically opposing cultural philosophies and value systems into a contraption against their will? Contrary to your perception that Ojukwu's position on Zik is propaganda, the opinion of nearly every other independent political analysts perfectly corroborate Ojukwu's. If you know what the Anthropology course content entails, you would realize that Zik's position was in stark conflict with the tenets of his profession as regards the approach to nation building. Even IPOB recently disrupted an award ceremony for illustrious Igbo sons the moment Zik was announced as one of the would-be posthumous beneficiaries of the award. The reason IPOB gave for their action is that Zik's ideology and stance on issues is not worth any eulogy let alone emulation by any Igbo youth. They added that had Zik not taken the position he took but aligned his thoughts and ideologies with those of Ahmadu Bello and Awolowo, Nigeria would have evolved differently to the good of everyone today. Now I guess you know Zik better than his own Igbo kinsmen who now see his stance on issues back then as the foundation for the Nigerian tragedy, right? |
Casham:Zik actually carried all those traits you credited the others with. Go and read Ojukwu's memo about Zik, Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo and see Zik for who he really was |
2elliot:If there was anybody too naive to understand such at that moment, Zik had no excuse to be the one. |
helinues:So because the state governors are squandering their revenues the federal government should withhold their it for the federal ministers to loot and keep away in foreign accounts which even they themselves may never be able to recover? When we were practising regional system did any regional government squander their resources? What many and in fact most Nigerians don't understand is that it is true federalism and resource control that will actually instill accountability in both the federal and state governments. In case you are wondering how, here it is: Unlike the present situation whereby the indigenes of a given state don't bother how governors spend the revenues accruing to their state either because they aren't involved in generating it or that they are consoled by the awareness that federal allocation will always come; under true federalism there will be no federal allocation but even state allocation to the federal government in the form of taxes on state revenue......meaning that the residents of each and every state will have to labour hard to generate revenue for the state and pay taxes from their sweat hence they will not gloss over waste of such hard earned revenue by their governors on things like religious pilgrimage sponsorship, donations to electioneering campaign fundraisers of other states of the same party, etc. That way, rather than vote based on zoning or ethnicity and risk having as governor a person who will drive the state to insolvency, people will start voting for governorship candidates based on records of their good financial administration and minimization of waste in handling funds. Likewise, LGA chairmen will be constantly kept under the torchlight of the residents from whose local taxes LGA revenues will wholly be generated. With just 25% going to the FG, once the salaries of the military and staff of other federal agencies are paid, there will be little or nothing left to pay jumbo allowances to federal legislators let alone for the FG to flirt with the idea of paying amnesty to militants, Boko Haram, Bandits and give pipelines protection contracts to people like Asari Dokubo, Gani Adams, Tompolo or sustain fraudulent subsidies on imported petroleum products. In an atmosphere of absence of jumbo allowances for senators and representatives courtesy of the meger 25% going to the center, politics will lose its attraction to political investors and only accomplished veterans of different disciplines who genuinely want to serve and bring their professional experiences to bear on legislative business will seek public office while political investors will seek investments in other endeavours that will generate employments and the country will be better for it on the long run |
Igbochief001:Yesterday shaped today just as today will shape the future hence your concern about today. |
helinues:What does the federal government taking the remaining 87% of the oil money have to show for it other than stories of it being looted by ministers and other federal appointment holders to be stashed away in foreign countries? How morally right is it to steal someone's money and when he complains you ask him how much he has been able to judiciously use the little you give back to him as a token? |
Igbochief001:You are very correct. I too don't buy into this narrative that restructuring should be discarded just because some states appear non-viable. Of course the seeming non-viability of states like Bayelsa is rooted in this very unitary system as any honest person knows that under a strictly federal arrangement Bayelsa with 75% revenue retention will have the funds to meet up all its obligation while some Northern states will collapse except they look deeply inwards into their gold deposits and agriculture. Even the oil bearing states will sit up in the wake of the world's search for alternative and cleaner energy source. But I disagree with your opening rhetorical question of whether any region complained when we were practising regional government. The Eastern Region complained, else why did Ironsi, an Easterner tampere with the regions in the first instance before his successors now carried it further this current level we have today? |
Exmilitant:. You are even being lenient with that monicker. Their father Zik said it openly that he was ready to pay the ultimate price (i.e death) for Nigeria to remain intact. The same Zik was the originator of the cliche that 'the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable. In one of the pre-independence parliamentary sessions the same Zik declared that his Eastern Region would suppress her quest for independence until the North was ready to join him and his Igbo kinsmen to form one-Nigeria. Another Igbo man named Aguiyi Ironsi Even went as far as promulgating Anti-secession Decree after he and Ojukwu had successfully got Isaac Adaka Boro sentenced to death by hanging for seeking the breakaway of Niger Delta Republic from Azikiwe's one-Nigeria. But these hypocrites. and followers of Nnamdi Kanu will not tell you all these but always jump to blame Isaac Adaka Boro and mock his death as if the death of over 3 million of their own kinsmen over the same secession issue is less serious than the that of Isaac Boro who was just a single individual. |
Lion123:Big scam from day one. |
rickyrex:Under the regional system we were operating the Independence Constitution which was strictly federal in nature as it featured 75% resource control by which each region retained 75% of revenues generated in her domain and remitted only 25% to the FG hence there was nothing like federal allocation unlike today that the federal government takes all and shares stipends to states in the name of federal allocation. Also, each region had her own embassies in foreign countries. In addition oil wells and mines were under the regional government and not under the FG. There was Local Government police under that system hence insecurity was relatively unknown. All these were supposed to trickle down to the future states to be created in due course. But in pursuit of Igbo domination agenda, Aguiyi Ironsi took over power illegally, introduced military rule to Nigeria, abolished the regions and suspended the Independence Constitution on the excuse that such a federal constitution was promoting tribalism over nationalism. Then he replaced it with a unitary constitution which according to him would foster national unity and bring about a stronger and united Nigeria. But posterity soon proved him wrong. That was what led to a chain of events that culminated in a bloody civil war after which Nigeria became the failure it currently is. |
