ojeysky:You took it out of my mouth. |
eddyakinrinde:Funny. |
gawu1:Very apt. They are plagued with short memory. |
Maxymilliano:His disqualification by the APC didn't make him to stop being an APC member. Disqualification is not same as expulsion from the party. |
Chris525:He introduced do-or-die politics as a PDP member before he navigated. Moreover his latest navigation was for PDP (Atiku) |
OkoNDOoBo:You dey mind them? When Obaseki was doing it they were all clapping for him but now that Ayade is doing it in the reverse direction they are calling him bastard, Adolf Hitler, Despot, etc. I have said it that politicians are never the problem of this country but the hypocritic masses who so shamelessly operate double standards. |
Chris525:Seems Obasanjo the originator of do-or-die politics was of the APC when he so declared in Abeokuta in 2006, right? |
Victorclean1:This nation would have long split in peace had Igbos never nused their domination agenda in pursuit of which Azikiwe the foremost leader and representative of the Igbo nation sabotaged the efforts of Anthony Enahoro and Awolowo to have secession clause in the constitution. Secondly the first Nigerian to ever be indicted of corruption happens to be the same Azikiwe an Igbo man. Nigeria was corrupted overall by Ironsi's demonic and self serving Unification Decree which followed the Igbo coup. |
ZZ22:Yes more oil to your idiocy and moronic plague victim status Biafra. Provide factual rebuttal or forever shut your mouth. Mr one-Nigeria turned Biafraaaauds. |
ZZ22:You obviously feel so guilty for your lack of factual rebuttal to these bitter truths about the inconsistent nature of your tribe that you felt the only way to play down the embarrassment is to resort to abuses. Nothing indicates idiocy more than this attitude. As long as you criminals denied the Niger Deltans and even the Northerners and Yorubas freedom from this cesspit in pursuit of your domination agenda you don't deserve the freedom you now seek from the same one-Nigeria bondage. Get this into your corroded brain under the control of Lamidi Cownu your master in deceit. Greedy beasts! |
ZZ22:But didn't Igbos still continued loving Nigeria so much that they invented the one-Nigeria slogan when they were already being slaughtered in their thousands in the North beginning from 1945? Didn't Igbos choose to align with the Noth against the other Southern tribes at independence which was just seven years after another massacre of them in Kano in 1953? So what later changed? I still don't get this overnight Igbo hatred for Nigeria. If a Yoruba, Hausa, Edo, Urhobo, Esan, Afemai and Ijaw claim to hate Nigeria, it is easy to understand because these tribes never chanted one-Nigeria but even once attempted to pull out of Nigeria but were stopped by Igbos. So where is this sudden Igbo hatred for the very one-Nigeria they created now coming from? Honestly I don't get it. |
UnabashedIPOB:Yes, the one-Nigeria created by Azikiwe and Ironsi. |
00FFT00:They are hard facts |
00FFT00:Wrong! His Intentions were never stellar but fraudulent through and through. I can give you 10 reasons built on facts and unassailable logic that his Intentions were anything but ignoble, vicious, fraudulent and outrightly selfish. |
00FFT00:And we are suffering today because of being Nigerians courtesy of Azikiwe's insistence on sustaining the British experiment of fraud called one-Nigeria. Even Azikiwe's own kinsmen are asking to be allowed to exit his one-Nigeria. So how come Azikiwe is great when what he created ended up a failure and a trap for everyone including his own people who are hardest hit by it? |
00FFT00:His disbelief is in the fraudulent one-Nigeria created by Azikiwe and Aguiyi Ironsi. |
DWJOBScom:Apart from the fact that the girl's story has kept on changing, how could a boxer who was able to lock the door and keep the keys under that circumstance have resorted to watching a frail girl stab him repeatedly without fighting back and stopping her with all his boxing skills and muscular endowments intact? No matter how weak a knife jab is on human flesh, it must make a mark. Why hasn't Chidinma showed her interviewers any mark? Then how come a girl who acted in self defense never shouted for help during the purported fracas and then also decided to clean up, repackage herself as if nothing happened and then leave the apartment quietly after 'winning' the battle? How come a person who defended herself successfully against a supposed rapist didn't get disgusted with the rapist and everything about him but went ahead to withdraw cash from the rapist's bank account? I guess you are among those who never accepted the self defense theory given by Akpan concerning the female job seeker he murdered in cold blood but you are here trying to rationalize for this demonic cold hearted killer known as Chidinma because she is female like you. If she walks free as you wish, then Akpan too will walk free. Simple! |
THEAMAKA:I beg to disagree with you. Parties don't evolve ideologies on their own. What they do is to adopt as their ideology the public consensus that is trending at that moment. For example the Republican Party of the USA was founded chiefly on the ideology of abolition of slavery because it had at that moment become the national moral question as to whether it wasn't hypocritical of America to continue upholding slave ownership 100 years after their independence declaration that all men are equal before God. Also, Americans were beginning to question the essence of large government. The founders of the Republican Party realized that if they must win presidential elections immediately they must evolve an ideological base which provides an answer to these issues around which national consensuses were being built and that was why Abraham Lincoln campaigned with reducing the size of government and emancipation of slaves to become elected as the first president from the Republican Party. Now, bringing it down to Nigeria, the question is: do we as a people have any issue based national consensus other than which tribe's, regions'or religion's turn it is to produce the next president? The answer is a big no hence the parties are always compelled to adopt zoning as their major ideologies. Parties like National Conscience Party, Kowa Party, etc despite their concrete issues-based manifestos ironically don't command the sympathy of Nigerian voters because they only espouse their beautiful ideologies about the economy, security, infrastructure, job creation, etc without saying anything on zoning of positions should they get to power. This is why APC and PDP will remain dominant for long as they always speak to the sentiments of Nigerians through their visible provisions for zoning despite being bereft of economic blueprints. The day Nigerians choose to build national consensus on issues like stable electricity, rapid infrastructural development, etc and discard concerns about zoning is the day these two big parties will evolve ideologies built on fundamental issues. |
Fahdiga1:But it was good for our democracy when Obaseki defected to PDP, right? And come to think of it, wasn't it this same PDP that started this one-party state trend beginning from Obasanjo's tenure amidst cheers from PDP members and supporters that the largest party in Africa was growing even larger and that the rest parties were nothing other than regional pressure groups? Since when has it become a bad thing for the largest party in Africa to keep growing larger while the others remain regional pressure groups? |
Curious345:She, a 21 year old female, acted in self defense against a 50 year old amateur male boxer and came out with no scratch on any part of her body. Why are you wasting your comedy talents online when the likes of I go die and Teju Babyface are smiling to the banks everyday with millions accruing to them from their dry jokes? |
somehow:This has been my position too. Initially I used to think the government and elite are our problem in this country but with the return of democracy in 1999 and my careful observation of the factors which guide the choices of ours as electorate I came to realize that the government is just a reflection of how the masses themselves are wired in their thinking. Imagine that monicker praying for this female murderer's freedom becoming a governor or president. The level of decadence Nigeria will fall to under his/her watch is better imagined. |
The truth remains that Obaseki exhausted a very huge percentage of scarce Edo State resources on PDP godfathers to enable him secure the party's membership and ticket in the last election and the consequence now is fear of setting up a cabinet obviously due to shortage of funds to sustain any cabinet for now in terms of remuneration. Some of us worked with Obaseki at a close range and discovered he is extremely mean and miserly to the point of not wanting to pay his aides decent wages even when there was enough funds at his disposal let alone now that the reverse is the case. It is now getting clearer that the anti-godfatherism narrative was a facade he used to speak to the emotions of the Edo electorate and pull the wool over Edo State people's eyes for his relative poor performance compared with his predecessor's. |
Indispensable85:The PDP youth leader of Egor LGA got the beating of his life few days ago in Uselu by the thugs of Olaye an Obaseki's staunch loyalist. I doubt if he survived it. Then a former aide of Obaseki was also seriously beaten by same Olaye with his head broken and his clothes stained in his own blood when he, as a APC-turned PDP member went to submit his credentials at the PDP Secretariat for reappointment application. The State House of Assembly at Ring Road has long been taken over by hemp-smoking thugs who authoritatively sit around the premises 24/7. Then the Torgbarians have all run into hiding completely. I am just enjoying the movie currently playing out in Edo State. |
Emzenoz:First of all the monicker you quoted didn't say whether he belongs to APC. Secondly, it is very unlikely that an APC sympathizer will lament over an intra-PDP witch-hunt case. Thirdly, how come it didn't occur to you at all that the monicker could be a PDP member and loyalist of the owner of the demolished hotel who is himself a PDP member and of the faction presently opposed to Obaseki's over the currently raging issue of sharing formula between the old PDP and the new PDP defectors from APC? |
Indispensable85:You really understand what exactly is happening. It is simply amusing that a lot of non-Edolites are all over this thread hailing Obaseki for purported non-bias in this demolition without even using common sense to first reason that the present existence of factions in Edo PDP could have informed this demolition and which is the truth. |
Emzenoz:And you love PDP where El-Rufai confiscated lands in Abuja and reallocated them to Obasanjo's cronies and where Obasanjo was using Ribadu to openly chase after Atiku back then just because he left PDP. I have always said it that political correctness is our only real problem in this country. |
IAMPEDRO:I thought you should have proven me wrong with contrary facts. Even if we conceed that an effort can't impact everyone or everywhere, at least it must visibly impact a fraction of the whole. So far EDOBEST has had no impact in my entire LGA. We all know how Red Roof Revolution reached nearly every public primary school in each and every LGA of the state. Same with SEEFOR projects and recruitment. But same can't be said of EDOBEST. Why? |
jude79:Edo State cuts across at least four vegetation belts of Nigeria, namely: the mangrove swamp, the tropical rainforest (Which is the red soil region), the montane belt and the Guinea Savannah which is of whitish soil and rich in solid minerals and granite. |
IAMPEDRO:Most secondary schools in Edo State are now being practically run by their alumni associations or the natives of their host communities who levy themselves to recruit teachers and pay their salaries all due to acute shortage of teachers in the schools courtesy of the state government's refusal to employ new teachers at least for the past eight years. I myself belong to my school alumni association in which each member contributes N1,000 monthly to pay the six additional teachers and two security men we employed for the school in addition to the seven that the school of over 1,000 students had before our intervention, so what then is the essence of EDOBEST? |
Ikinternational:This is not about sentiments on switching of parties but about the strange abnormalities being perpetrated in the name of fighting godfathers even within the party he switched to. Are you aware that there has been no cabinet in place in Edo State for the past 8 months and still counting? Can you mention any other state being run without a cabinet but by only the governor, deputy and Secretary to the state government in the name disagreement about sharing formula between the old and new members of the party? Where else is such happening? He claims he wants to hand the state's civil service to consultants/professional yet there are no commissioners in place to assess the qualification of the professionals and consultants at the point of recruitment. In fact what other professionals/consultants can there be aside the permanent secretaries already existing in the ministries? Then he is presently talking of building an airport in Edo-North Senatorial District when the one in Benin City (Edo-South Senatorial District and the economic nerve center of the state) records less than five flights per day if I am not even being too generous with figures. Meanwhile the Gelegele Sea Port promise he made in his 2016 campaign is now on voicemail. Same with other bogus promises like one industrial park per Senatorial District, full development of the tourism potentials of the state, etc. It is getting clearer each day that Edo State people fell for a huge scam both in the 2016 and 2020 guber elections. |
