schoolboij:You are just being evasive and self deluded. It wasn't a petty rumour but published in the papers and his son's picture clearly shown. Here is Obasanjo's son accusing him of sleeping with his wife. http://saharareporters.com/2008/01/13/my-father-made-love-my-wife-%E2%80%94gbenga-obasanjo Read it and use your brain and head. |
kingzizzy:Was there ever coup in the US, Germany, Canada, UK, Russia, and other world powers which we, at independence, purposed ourselves to become like? |
cosef:He wasn't among those targeted to be killed at the planning stage hence his death wasn't important. Which Igbo politician was killed? |
seunmsg:Clannishness rather. |
9jaRealist:I quite agree with the guy you quoted. If you critically examine Adegboyega's claims in that book, you can't but notice the logical self contradictions and inconsistencies which actually give him away as trying to rationalize an ethnic cleansing which was presented as a nationalistic project to him. |
schoolboij:It was his son Gbenga that so accused him and he never denied it. I guess you now know him more than his own biological son? |
selemempe:Which Igbo leaders did he kill? Care mentioning them? |
femarse:Why didn't Ifeajuna stop over in Benin City on his way to Enugu that afternoon and kill Dennis Osadebey? Was Dennis too hosting an official visitor from Europe? Why did the coup plotters go ahead with the execution of the coup despite being fully aware that their main target -Azikiwe, as later disclosed by Nzeogwu, had escaped from the country? Why didn't the other junior officers in the plot kill Ironsi when they later found him at a junction at about 4:30 am on his way to quell the coup that morning? If it was the mere visit of the foreigner from Cyprus that prevented Ifeajuna from killing Okpara, then why did Ifeajuna go into the premier's lodge in Enugu to have a tete a tete with Okpara who later assisted him in seeking assylum to Ghana where he escaped to? |
cosef:Unegbe was not a political leader. Moreover his death was rather a collateral damage as he was not among the figures targeted at the planning stage hit list. |
Odingo1:The coup was tagged Igbo coup because of the pattern of killings in the execution which left the political leaders of other regions dead while those of Igbo origin all escaped unhurt. |
Cantonese:The biggest fraud in politics is to credit a Nigerian politician with detribalization. A 'detribalized' Obasanjo ordered soldiers to kill and maim innocent civilians in Odi and Zakibiam for alleged security threat but couldn't repeat same when the same security threat scenario later played out in Shagamu and Ota both in his home state of Ogun. You people just love to cheaply shower these useless Nigerian leaders with undeserved accolades. |
delamb01:The bolded is a pure revisionist tale. Without prejudice to the fact that the coup was totally wrong in principle and dubious in execution, Nzeogwu himself confessed that the person who betrayed him hence sabotaged the objective of the coup was Ifeajuna. He granted an interview in which he made this clear and he never mentioned Major H.U. Katsina who ironically was never part of the plot. Why do you Igbos so much love revisionism? |
lonelydora:Care throwing more light on this rather bogus claim of yours? |
LLobiorah:Thousands I said, and that is the truth. |
LLobiorah:Are you kidding yourself? Keep denying the massive phenomenon you see around you. If your denial were valid, one would have expected Islam not to have grown up to this level in Igbo land despite it was introduced by one person. |
LLobiorah:Keep denying a truth kissing you in the face in your delusional mind. |
LLobiorah:You can't deny the evidences any longer. Can you? |
LLobiorah:Apart from the fact that I made it clear that they are just few examples among thousands of reported cases let alone the unreported ones, the fact that it is only in Igbo land that Christians are willingly adopting Islam is an evidence of the unhindered growth of the religion in the SE. How many reports of Christians' conversion to Islam in other parts of the country have you ever read? Even in the North, it is news of Moslems embracing Christianity. |
The spectacular feature of the growth of Islam in Igbo land is that it is being adopted freely by Igbos unlike in all other parts of Nigeria where it was violently imposed on them against their will through conquest. It all shows that Igbos are actually the natural moslems. |
LLobiorah:It started from Ebonyi and later spread to Enugu yet you are denying its growth and proselytizing. Living in delusional denial is worse. The proselytization is real and massive. Here are some instances among thousands. LLobiorah:In a botanical garden, whatever is not growing is dying, and whatever is not dying is growing. There is never stagnation. It is either growing or dying. Likewise, in the garden of humanity, whatever phenomenon is not dying is actually growing regardless of how stagnant it might appear to be. As long as the Islam introduced into Igbo land in 1958 has not died since then, then it is definitely growing. |
LLobiorah:Until you people close that school and ban Islam in Afikpo, all these denials from you will remain in the realm of mere denial. |
LLobiorah:If Ebonyi Christians and the SE generality will not allow the proposed Islamic university, then how come they allowed the Islamic primary and secondary schools which had been run there for ages as revealed by the Igbo Sheikh who spoke in the story? |
LLobiorah:If their number is as insignificant as you try to portray, then how come the biggest Islamic university in Africa is billed to be sited in Afikpo areas of Ebonyi State? Igboland to get Islamic University (to be located in Afikpo, Ebonyi State) •Boasts the best Islamic secondary school in Nigeria By News Express on 14/04/2014 Share Tweet Views: 32,775 Unknown to most people in religiously divided Nigeria, the best Islamic secondary school in the country is not located in the Muslim-dominated North but in the largely Christian South-East, specifically in Afikpo, Ebonyi State. Now there are plans to turn the school, known as Islamic Centre, Afikpo, into an Islamic University. This was disclosed by Sheikh Daud Nwagui, the Headmaster of the primary section of the school, who told the Daily Trust newspaper: “We hope to turn the school into a university, that is a university of Islamic studies. There is no school like this in the whole of the South-East.” The hilly Afikpo town boasts the highest number of Igbo Muslims in the South-East, followed by the university town of Nsukka in neighbouring Enugu State. The Islamic Centre, Afikpo, was founded by Sheikh Ibrahim Okpani Nwagui, the father of the present headmaster, who brought Islam to Afikpo in 1958. According to Sheikh Daud Nwagui, his late father embraced Islam in Senegal and promptly introduced the religion to his people when he returned to Nigeria in 1958. “From that time a lot of people in the vicinity were turning to Islam. He was a very sincere person, and he was like this till his very last days. He was the founder of the Islamic Centre, Afikpo,” he said, adding: “This centre was set up in 1965 to propagate Islam generally. This is the best Islamic secondary school in the nation, and students come from all over the country, including Abuja.......... EagleNest:Doing the first item on your list will automatically bring about all the other nine. Seek ye first restructuring and every other thing will begin to fall into place on their own. For example, if we return to the pre May 24 1966 structure when each region sourced for her own revenue, no region or state will waste hard earned revenue on an economically wasteful venture like pilgrimage sponsorhip. Availability of free unerned funds is the reason why all the problems you see persist. |
LLobiorah:It is a fact you cannot deny. https://tribuneonlineng.com/167360/ There are even indegenous moslems in Enugu State as well. Here is a link. https://dailypost.ng/2017/09/19/enugu-mosque-fire-ogrute-muslim-community-economical-truth-ipob-concerned-residents/ Note where it says: "Those who are Muslims here are our brothers. They are indigenes who have been using that mosque for decades...." |
pazienza:The regions are called Geopolitical Regions and not geocultural, geographical or georeligious regions. All regions were created for administrative purposes hence even your own SE if not monocultural as there are Igalas indigenous to Anambra State just as there are Ibibios and Ijaws native to Abia State, neither is it monoreligious as there are indegenous moslems in the Afikpo areas of Ebonyi State. There are indegenous Itsekiris, Ijaws and Urhobos in Edo State, so it would mean that Delta State which equally is home to these tribes is also culturally a SW state by your preposterous parameters. The Itsekiris of Delta State are manifestly Yorubas as they don't deny their Yorubaness. In fact the appelation for their monarch is a pure Yoruba term. They trace their roots to Ijebu in Ogun State and speak a Yoruba Dialect. However in your jaundiced analysis Delta State is not culturally SW but Edo State where none of the indegeous tribes speaks Yoruba as mother tongue is culturally SW. Isn't it obvious that you are seriously confused? There is no extent of duplicity and dishonesty the typical Igbo person cannot go in his attempt to distort facts for political correctness. The SS is made up of very many tribes which have no cultural similarities nor linguistic affinity. The Itsekiris of Delta have no cultural ties with the Ogojas of Cross River State, neither do the Ijaws of Bayelsa have any cultural affinity with the Ibibios of Akwa Ibom, etc. So how did you come about ascribing to the region a single culture which Edo doesn't share in your confused mind? In fact there is a town in Edo North which shares linguistic affinity and cultural ties with another in Yala LGA of Cross River State as recently revealed by ethnological reserch. The SS identity is all about the non-Wazobians of the South hence has nothing to do with all these parameters you contrived out of resentment for Edos over their rejection of inclusion in Biafra. Asari Dokubo is a moslem from Bayelsa just like a lot of other indegenous moslems in Bayelsa, Delta and Cross River, hence your attempt to paint an all-Christian picture for the SS betrays an intention to spin a narrative for political correctness. Ironically Asari Dokubo a devout moslem is a potential high ranking stakeholder in your supposedly all-Christian Biafra not minding the very large population of indegenous moslim population in Ebonyi which is a SE state. You can keep deluding yourself and spinning obviously preposterous parameters about SS membership just to get back at Edo for rejecting Biafra and sticking to being themselves politically, but the earlier you wake up from your nightmare the better for your envy stricken soul. Find below a link to IPOB's attempt to coerce Edo into Biafra hence the rejection which triggered in your likes the sour grape syndrome to which effect you began to try to detach Edo from the SS with your contrived but preposterous parameters. Yayira:Hmmmmm... |
wink2015:Lucky Igbinedion's administration took Edo State 100 years back. If he had done just one twentieth of what Oshiomhole did let alone Obaseki, Edo State wouldn't have ever experimented with another party in 2007. |
Igbosmoker:Lucky Igbenedion is the worst governor in world history. He will go down as the worst thing to ever happen to Edo State. Lawrence Anini remains a saint compared with Lucky Igbinedion. |
mastermaestro:You are right. Both Edo South and Edo North were totally fed up with PDP. In fact people didn't want to hear P in these two Senatorial Districts again let alone DP in addition. The resentment for Igbenedions and Anenih was sky high. It was only Esans that still has a soft spot for PDP then due to Osunbor being of them and that their the late Stella Obasanjo was the wife of a BOT chairman of PDP. |
Ubenedictus:You seem to have forgotten that due to unprecedented and widespread electoral violence in Akoko-Edo with guns freely being displayed by PDP supporters on the day of election, Akoko-Edo votes were cancelled hence not reckoned with in the final collation of results in the 2007 Edo guber election. Osunbor/PDP major ground of appeal against the tribunal ruling back then was that Akoko-Edo rerun be ordered by the Appeal Court against the tribunal's contrary position. PDP however lost the at the Appeal because Edo PDP, in its characteristic shabbiness, didn't make that pleading at the tribunal level but rather was claiming that it won Akoko-Edo. Then go back and check the results of that election and see the bloc votes Oshiomhole got from Bini areas. |
