You are rather the one with a dark hypocritic heart. Your fathers had wicked and selfish hearts which you demonstrably inherited from them hence the reason why Nigeria is a failed state.

You can go to blazes then. When the chips are down, we'd know who's who. Without Igbo, Fulani would have swept you into the ocean decades ago.

Your "you can go to blazes" utterance is a clear evidence that your initial apology was not heartfelt but a political one, hence I am right to have taken it with a pinch of salt.

Let's start it here on individual basis: Because you are obviously Ijaw, I say sorry to you for what Ojukwu did to Boro. Please, forgive him him lest our grudges weaken us against our common enemies, which would be unwise of us. Take note: As an adult, you're responsible for your decisions & actions, not your father's. Even the Bible and secular laws acknowledge that. The Bible, for example, contains stories of bad Israelite kings who were punished by God and their good sons whom God blessed. Don't insist that we remain on a wrong road simply because some people led us there? If you think that way, it means you are now CONSCIOUSLY making the mistake my father probably made based on his best judgment. It means you are as guilty as he was, only more. Let's not let the past drag us down. Thank you.
My point is that we had always had and known this common enemy from time immemorial but because of selfish interest, your fathers chose to align with them to punish my own fathers and that if the collusion between your forefathers and the common enemy had not later turned sour, your fathers would have stuck to it to my perpetual disadvantage and you too would have inherited it from them as a son and continued pursuing that selfish interest to my own detriment today. Recall that your fathers later abandonment of the alliance was not a matter of conscience but because it no longer favoured them... meaning that if such an opportunity returns today you will grab it again without bothering about whether it would affect me, your supposed brother, positively or negatively. So aren't I justified to remain circumspect about your current crusade for corrective action?

Those guys you mentioned are Igbos. Are you happy now? But hear this: It's only a moronic child that continues to repeat the mistakes his father made even as an adult. He who never reconsiders his paths is as lifeless as Rochasic statues. You don't continue to go the wrong way after you've discovered it is wrong. Meanwhile, this is my first time of hearing the part about ojukwu attacking Adaka Boro.
As per the first bolded; thank God you are honest enough to answer the question exactly as asked. However, that makes it clear that Igbos are solely responsible for the mess we are all in today by virtue of being Nigerians.

As per the second bolded; I am shocked to the bone that this is your first time of hearing a fact that has been mentioned in nearly all threads on Biafra polemics. You must therefore be new on NL. But then it is the unassailable truth because Ojukwu was the one who, as Eastern Region Military Governor, was ordered by Ironsi to attack and arrest Adaka Boro for declaring secession of the Ijaw centred Niger Delta Republic. Ojukwu did just that, caught Isaac Boro, killed his comrade soldiers, stripped him naked, tied his hands to the back and sent him to Ironsi in Lagos for capital punishment for treason.

As for the other parts of your response above, the point being made is not about whether you are right or wrong to repeat the mistakes of your fathers but that in trying not to follow the mistake ridden path of your fathers you don't begin to hang on other peoples' fathers the responsibility for those mistakes your own fathers made especially if those other people's fathers cautioned your own fathers while they were making those mistakes but your fathers insisted they were right and in addition labelled them with unprintable names for taking an opposite view for which posterity had judged them right today.
In essence, if you can't appologise to them for your fathers' demonization of them over their truthful stance back then, you should at least acknowledged they saw what your own fathers could not see. But you have rather chosen to still continue demonizing them even though posterity has proven them right against your own fathers. How do you expect their children of today to believe you are honest in your quest to have Nigeria dismantled to warrant them thinking of joining you in your bid to achieve it?

A page in "there was a country" said that Nigeria seized to exist the day civil war started. We should stop fooling ourselves, we cannot live together in peace in this country. We are not one, we hate ourselves.

If Nigeria did not break away, the blood of 3million Igbos spilled during the genocide and earthly cleansing in 1967-1970 will forever hunt Nigeria and the country can never know peace.

Biafra our only hope!
Can you please tell me the tribe of Nnamdi Azikiwe who invented and propagated the one-Nigeria fraud, frustrated all motions to include secession clause in the independence constiution, kicked against Northerners' demand for de-amalgamation, and labelled Ahmadu Bello a sectionalist and ethnic bigot for terming Nigeria as "the mistake of 1914"?

Can you also tell me the tribe of Aguiyi Ironsi who made the Anti-secession Decree of 1966 by which the mere mention of breaking away from Nigeria became a treasonable offence punishable with death by hanging?

Can you tell me the tribe of Ojukwu who attacked Isaac Adaka Boro, killed his soldiers, got him arrested and sentenced to death for declaring the secession of the Niger Delta Republic 15 months before Biafra idea ever came?

I await your response sir. Thanks in anticipation.

If Danjuma had not killed Ironsi and Nigeria was a sane society, Ironsi should have gone to jail for assuming power, regardless of whatever he did with the constitution. A military officer has no business taking over power. But I hasten to add that the same jail would have been the portion of all Military officers who assumed power such as Gowon, Murtala Mohammed, Babangida and of course, president Buhari.
All these other military men you hastened to add above wouldn't have ever taken power if Ironsi had not set the bad example.

Kudos for your analysis, but you are everywhere talking about things I didn’t mention hence you are nowhere regarding giving a direct response to my assertion here on why Binis will vote for their own. Did s I hear you mention attitude of blind loyalism by the Binis?...wrong grammatical expression, it is called blind loyalty... anyways I understand what you are trying to say, but is there any tribe that doesn’t play that game in Nigeria today? Did Festus Keyamo not say it on national TV that the yorubas will not vote for Atiku because their son Osinbajo is on Buhari’s ticket? You honestly think all this block votes APC is getting from the western states is not because of 2023? You don’t know anything!
There is nothing wrong with my expression grammatically. There is actually the word loyalism in the dictionary. It simply means loyalty just for the sake of it, and which you credited Binis with in your penultimate post. It was you who so accused your own tribe of that by arguing that despite how deserving of a second term Ambrose Alli was on account of his performance as the governor of Bendel State, they decided to vote against him all the same just because he wasn't one of them. Read your previous post again and you will see where you so asserted. Therefore your citations of Keyamo's claim on TV does not cut it.

ogbonti:
You said the Binis regretted voting out Professor Ali, HOW? S.O. Ogbemudia Who defeated Alli did not last more than 3 Months before the Buhari coup of December 31, 1983 .... so why did Bendelites or Binis regret the Ogbemudia choice ? You don’t come here spewing nonesense because you are acting on gut feeling. The Late Bridagier-Gen. Samuel Ogbemudia (Rtd) a Bini man remains the most effective Governor in the history of Midwest - Bendel - Edo/ Delta since 1963 when Midwest Region, now Edo and Delta States was created.
The Binis themselves have severally openly said it that their opposition to Ambrose Alli's attempted creation of LCDAs on the prompting of Tony Anenih is a thing they regret till today having realized that if Ambrose Alli had had his way, the more than seven LCDAs into which he split the Bini areas in his proposal, would have most likely served as the template for the 1996 LGAs creation hence the Binis would have gotten more than the current seven which they currently see as insufficient. Recall that Tony Anenih and his NPN campaigned against the LCDAs proposal on the rather lame subterfuge that it was a ploy to further divide the Bini Kingdom and which Binis bought into.
How exactly did you arrive at your conclusion that Ogbemudia is the most effective governor in the history of Bendel? As a military governor for eight/nine years, he had the privilege of longer reign with nearly 100% power compared with Ambrose Alli who, had a far shorter reign with circumscribed powers and suffered legislative opposition courtesy of the democratic dispensation in which he served. Yet Ambrose Alli is generally rated above Ogbemudia in public opinion among Edos and Deltans till today. Ambrose Alli memorial lectures hold every year as a mark of honour for him posthumously but nothing as such yet for Ogbemudia.

ogbonti:
Even your fake messiah Oshomole, will tell you that he can’t clean Ogbemudia’s sandals in terms of achievement when Ogbemudia was Governor from 1967 to 1975.
You are just being hyper emotional. My mention of Oshiomhole's performance is only in the comparative sense and that doesn't translate to messiahship perception. If at all any tribe in Edo State ever regarded Oshiomhole as messiah, it is definitely the Binis because in both 2007 and 2012 elections, Oshiomhole got an overwhelming majority of his votes from the Bini areas than in Edo North and Central put together. In the 2007 election, there was no voting in my own LGA in Edo North at all due to deliberate disruption of the voting exercise by the local level PDP network which viewed him as too inconsistent to be a governor courtesy of his various compromises with Obasanjo during NLC strikes over fuel prices. Then again in 2012 election he got the least percentage votes in my own LGA in protest of his excessive focus on his home Etsako areas to the total neglect of Akoko-Edo and Owan areas. The figures are available online for everyone to see. So how could he have been a Messiah to me or majority of Edo North people made up of Akoko-Edos and Owans? You obviously love to put words into people's mouths.
ogbonti:
So don’t come here demonizing a tribe; making sweeping generalizations that Binis are bad leaders just because LuckyIgbinedion goofed... the person who used Lucky to destroy Edo State was Tony Anenih, “MR. FIX IT” an Esan man who for so many years was the “major domo” god-father and king maker - not only in Edo State but in Nigerian politics.
You yourself demonized your own tribe as a people whose choices are not guided by reason but by tribal loyalty. Read your previous post and you'll see it there.
How exactly does my citation of Lucky Igbenedion's misrule amount to a generalization that Binis are bad leaders? Do you just enjoy deliberately misinterpreting people? Your attempt to blame Lucky Igbinedion's failure on Tony Anenih's overbearing influence is a form of self contradiction because you are everywhere here commending Obaseki's self assetion and resistance to a similarly overbearing Oshiomhole. Why couldn't Lucky assert his powers and status against Anenih as Obaseki is currently doing if Lucky truly had genuinely people oriented concern as Obaseki has and is proving it by resisting Oshiomholes's godfatherism? Stop rationalizing Lucky's failure. Lucky had all the powers in his hands to demystify Anenih for the benefit of Edo people but he chose not to use it because he too had a dubious selfish agenda. Simple.

ogbonti:
The fear of or total loyalty to ANNENIH then in Nigeria was the beginning of political wisdom.
Lucky was just a bad leader. Oshiomhole chose to fight and demystify Anenih and he succeeded. So the fear of Anenih wasn't the beginning of wisdom anywhere but rather the beginning of foolishness. Likewise, Obaseki has chosen to demystify Oshiomhole whose fear is assumed to be the beginning of wisdom in APC currently. And with Edo people already queueing behind him (Obaseki), he will record success the same way Oshiomhole did recorded against Anenih. Stop manufacturing watery excuses for Lucky. He was simply a failure.

ogbonti:
So stop the nonesense of trying to make a silly impression here that Binis are incapable of being good administrators. Obaseki has not even completed 3 years of his administration, HOW DO YOU KNOW HE WILL NOT SURPASS WHATEVER OSHOMOLE CLAIMS HE DID IF OBASEKI IS GIVEN A FREE HAND TO RULE IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS?
You alone know how you inferred that I claimed that Binis are bad administrators. On the contrary, I am rather trying to correct your assertion that Binis would vote their own regardless of poor performance.
ogbonti:
Airhiavbere that you mentioned was seen more as an extension of Governors Lucky Igbinedion and Oserhiemen Osunbor, and Edo State was, just like the whole of Nigeria, suffering from the PDP hangover of misrule so any body or party other than PDP was seen as the potential liberator. So it was natural for Oshomole Who was going for his second term to win... but THESE ARE VERY SEPARATE SITUATIONS....
What a way to explain away the indefensible! If Binis saw Airhiavbare as a would be extension of Lucky Igbinedion and Osunbor's rule, then how come some Binis came up with the campaign slogan of "Binis, vote your own" in obvious reference to Airhiavbare in the 2012 election?

ogbonti:
The average Bini man is seeing what OSHIOMOLE is doing now as an attempt to call the shots; humiliate and prevent their own son from ruling independently and they won’t take that, you can propound theories here, at the end of the day, I am challenging you to BOOK MARK THIS PAGE. OSHIOMOLE is done in Edo State..... he thinks because he removed OYEGUN as National APC chairman ........ a Bini man, then he can come and remove a son of the soil from Governemnt House, Osadebey Avenue, BENIN CITY? Whossssaaaaai..... OSHIOMOLE and yourself do not know the Benin people.
All the above are irrelevant digressions from the thrust of the debate here. If anything, the Binis are most responsible for Oshiomhole's rise to power as Edo State Governor. Check the results of both the 2007 and 2012 elections and you will see that fact clearly. Oshiomholes' pull down of Oyegun had more Binis than Esans and Afenais at the core of the plot. So whatever Oshiomhole does against any Bini son is the Binis own fault.

ogbonti:
Oshomole got a free hand to rule Edo State almost as a maximum ruler and no one opposed him for 8 solid years.....
That was still the Binis' fault because it was from the Binis he got the moral support to do all the despotism. Even the Edo State APC faction currently fighting Obaseki on behalf of Oshiomhole is being led by a Bini man called Samson Osagie and another called Francis Evbowan. So you can see that the resistance to Obaseki's second term is still all a Bini thing and doesn't really involve Edo North and Central which otherwise have continued to voice out support for Obaseki for nothing other than his all inclusive government and equitable distribution of infrastructural projects. Recently all the Edo North traditional rulers rose from a meeting and passed a vote of confidence on Obaseki. In fact those who campaigned most fiercely against Obaseki in the Edo 2016 election were nearly all Binis. So what exactly is your point here?

ogbonti:
ow, he wants to remote control Obaseki and make him a puppet for WHAT REASON? Obaseki is the governor of Edo State and he must be respected as such. Let him rule his own 8 years in peace.
Is it not Binis Oshiomhole is using to achieve that? Check it out, those loyal to Obaseki and fighting Oshiomhole for him in the current EDHA are majorly from Edo North and Central. The speaker and his deputy who are on Obaseki's side are from Esan NE and Akoko-Edo LGAs respectively. But the Oshiomhole 15 are mostly from the Bini LGAs of the state. Even Adjoto, the immediate past speaker of EDHA, who was loyal to Obaseki and passed all his bills easily is an Edo North son. So what is your point now?

ogbonti:
Did you watch the interview OBASEKI granted that key federal positions from Edo State were done without his knowledge? Is that not an insult? He is the Governor but he is not allowed to govern..... WHO DID THAT TO OSHOMOLE ? Oshomole preached “ NO TO GOD -FATHERISM” when he was campaigning to become Governor in 2007, but just like George Orwell’s Animal Farm, he has become the grand hypocrite and he is practicing what he preached against 12 years ago, making himself a GOD FATHER!
Do you honestly think that without the support Oshiomhole is enjoying from Binis like Samson Osagie and co, he would be bold enough to continue seeking godfather status over Obaseki? Even Anenih's godfatherism over Lucky had Bini sons at the root of it. Binis have always been their own problem. Simple!

ogbonti:
BASEKI IS GETTING THE ESAN PEOPLE ON HIS SIDE RIGHT NOW, AND THE OWANS..... LET US SEE HOW ONLY EDO NORTH WILL OVERRIDE HIM. THE ESAN PEOPLE WHO ARE UP MORE THAN 30 % of the ENTIRE EDO STATE POPULATION ALREADY HATE OSHIOMOLE, BECAUSE OF HOW HE DEFUNDED AMBROSE ALI UNIVERSITY TO BUILD ANOTHER STATE UNIVERSITY IN HIS HOME TOWN., HE HAS POLITICALLY SIDELINED THEIR KEY POLITICIANS AND KEEPS DEFUNDING KEY PROJECTS IN ESAN LAND BECAUSE OF HIS HATRED FOR THE LATE TONY ANNENIH AND TOM IKIMI....SO GET YOUR POP CORN READY..... THE GAME HAS STARTED!!!!!
Again, these are irrelevant digressions.
Meanwhile, who told you that Owans are Esans to warrant the claim above that Obaseki has won them to his side hence let's see how Edo North alone will override him? Are you sure you are really from Edo State? You don't know that Owan is part and parcel of Edo North?
Meanwhile Obaseki's strongest hold has always been Edo North. He got his highest percentage votes from Etsako West - 75% and Akoko-Edo - 69%. You don't even really understand what you are saying. You think Oshiomhole is synonymous with Edo North? We Edo North don't give our support based on ethnicism as you said of the Binis. We rather place priority on track record and demonstrated commitment to ideals. Outside Etsako Central, no where in Edo North is Oshiomhole reckoned with as a leader. The only parts of Edo State he ever enjoyed such perception hugely is the Bini areas.
You must be a commedian to credit Esans with 30% Edo State population. According to the 2016 census results, Edo South has 1.6m population, Edo North has 0.9m while Edo Central (Esans) have 0.5m.
Now through what kind of arithmetic does 0.5 million amount to 30% of the total?

You obviously don't know the Bini people

There was a certain Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli; who was elected executive Governor of old Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States) in 1979. He was loved by the former Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, and he worshipped the Oba like a true son of the Soil.

He did nothing in Bendel State as Governor without consulting with and seeking the blessings of Oba Erediauwa, and he was loved by the Bini people, although he was of Esan extraction; Ekpoma to be precise.

He gave free education to all Bendelites, who were willing to go to school. As a Professor of Morbid Anatomy, he knew the value of education and he established a lot of primary and post primary institutions across the state, which was then known as "Awo School" because he was an avowed socialist and staunch member of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and an unrepentant Disciple of Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He was an Awoist; who was incorruptible - he was a diligent and ethical leader who was loved by all. ........
BUT.... BUT in 1983 -

As soon as the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) presented Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, a Bini man as the party''s flag bearer to run against Professor Alli, every Bini man turned against Alli. They called him a yoruba man because his middle name was Folorunso, and even the market women swept his feet away from the streets with broom, and he lost his re-election.

Note this TODAY!

EVERY BENIN MAN WILL TAKE SIDE WITH A BENIN MAN WHEN THAT BENIN MAN IS FIGHTING AGAINST A NON-BINI PERSON. DON'T BE FOOLED!!!

OBASEKI IS A BINI MAN - OSHOMOLE IS NOT grin
The attitude of blind ethnic loyalism which Binis displayed against Ambrose Alli later came hurting them and they regretted it bitterly. Moreover, recall that the then Bendel State was made up of different tribes among which the Binis were not anything near a majority to warrant the reasoning that their 'resentment' against Ambrose Alli was all needed to get him out of power. Alli's loss was actually due more to the brazen broad daylight rigging perpetrated in all UPN states by the Shagari-led NPN government which, in addition to seeking a one party state, was as well determined to get even with Ambrose Alli for disgracing it in court twice through his flooring of the NPN-led FG over Alli's power as a state governor to establish a university.... Bendel State University now AAU, and court victory of Alli again over the creation of LCDAs.
However, over the years and with the unprecedented monumental misrule of the state by another Bini son Lucky Igbinedion who remains the worst state governor in the history of Nigeria, what really matters now to the Binis and indeed to every Edo State person is good governance regardless of tribe. Please recall that in the Edo 2012 guber election which pitched Oshiomhole against Airhiavbare a Bini son, Oshiomhole swept all the 7 Bini dominated LGAs and even got up to 96% votes in some due to his sterling first term performance. This was inspite of the PDP campaign slogan which went as "Binis, vote your own...".

Nigeria may have become an independent nation in 1960...
But politics and internal self-governance did not start in 1960.

By 1957, full internal self-governance had been installed in both the Western and Eastern regions (and subsequently in the North) before political independence in October 1960. Even prior to that, there had been partisan politics and general elections electing regional representatives in 1954 (and even further back to partisan political elections into the Legislative Councils going all the way back to the 1920s). Nonetheless, perhaps the reason the coup did not actually happen until SIX YEARS after independence in 1966 was that many of the plotters (and prospective plotters) shared your sentiment that 9 months was too little a time to properly judge and/or condemn the government.

Either way, how is that a “contradiction”? Some people may think that one month of corruption is too much, while you obviously do not.
>
If your argument above is anything to go by, then one would assume you are trying to assert that as long as indigenous rule started courtesy of existence of the regions which were created long before independence, then corruption started far before independence hence the coup wasn't really too early. Beautiful twist, no doubt! However, recall that even before the regions were created, Azikiwe had been indicted of corruption not even by an indegeous government but by the colonial authorities which can't be accused of ethnic bias based political witch-hunting.
So how come a set of coup plotters supposedly trying to rid the country of a culture of corruption born before independence allowed the very individual who introduced that pre-independence culture escape on their own tip off and assistance?

On Awolowo, I don’t think your assertion came from Wale Ademoyega’s book (you probably confuse it with co-plotter Ben Gbulie’s book). I believe that Ademoyega’s book only referenced a plan to immediately release all “political prisoners” including Awolowo, Enahoro, Jakande, Onitiri, Omisade, etc. (p.33), but obviously the coup-plotters shared more of the socialist aspirations of Chief Awolowo than what they considered to be the feudalism of the NPC. Nonetheless, Chief Awolowo (a supposedly committed democrat) went on to serve as virtual “prime minister” in the the quasi-unitary (actually defacto unitary) military government of General Gowon, in the position of Vice-Chairman of the Federal Executive Council. It’s how things work in Nigeria, where MKO’s running-mate joined the military government that imprisoned him.
>
It is rather ironical for the coup plotters to have shared Awolowo's aspirations in the sense that Awolowo's intense pro-federalism stance contrasted sharply with the coupists' main objective of imposing a strong national government on the country.

Awolowo was not a committed democrat but a committed federalist. I hope you know the difference between these two terms and stop using them interchangeably. If Awolowo was a committed democrat, how come he ever plotted a civilian coup which was partly responsible for his incarceration?
His decision, however, to serve in Gowon's government resonated perfectly with his federalist stance as Gowon had demonstrated a commitment to refederalization by his commencement of reversal of Ironsi's centripetal decrees. It can safely be argued therefore that even though Gowon's government was military in nature, it was federalist in character thus
rightly justifying the attraction to it of Awolowo the foremost federalist in the country.

The US never allowed coups on her own soil despite they existed long before the era you are referring to for Nigeria. Moreover, the US' support for coups in other countries was not necessary for the coups in themselves but support for the ideological changes which the coups only served as a means to. Although I know you guys love mentioning him now that he made a u turn, so I understand the touche effect that you guys are doing and it would be okay if not for the fact that the man is a mass murderer who's being made relevant by this forum.

Again, the SS is a new political Union and we are all working together for the progress of the region politicatically and for the good of the south, for the good of nigeria. But the SS or ND is not a tribe. When issues get tribal the tone is different, if igbo people in the SE are screaming about an issue which is tribal it's best to believe that the igbo, igboid, and their cousin tribes in the SS are also echoing thesame sentiments perhaps not as loud. It would be mistaken to believe or think that igbo people in the SS are clapping for the people who are insulting or trying the shred the SE, when we know you people can't really tell us apart. Don't point to what a politician said or a communal clash as prove of disagreement because they also have this between communities in SE.

The fact remains that if the SE was actually going to leave Nigeria, then the Igbo/igboid and closely related tribes in the SS are leaving with them because whatever remains of Nigeria becomes impractically impossible for our people to live or survive with when our next of kins and those we are closely related with are out the window. This is not a hate speech, it's common sense, common reasoning. It's important some of us in the ND speak up so we don't wake up one day and we are being told that we are now this or that by people from the west because of our silence, with quotes of peoples comments on nairaland as the word of God.

This thread is about the Middle Belt having an awakening, I will not reply any further so that I dont derail the thread. Cheers!
I don't believe that my simple question as to IPOB's use of Asari Dokubo's initial romance with Nnamdi Kanu as an evidence that SS is fully into Biafra generated all this conjectural merry-go-round from you.
So Asari became a murderer only after he began to disagree with Kanu despite many of his alleged murder cases you cited above actually predated his romance with Kanu? Wonders shall never really end.

Can you people please stop using this man's name as someone who speaks for the Niger Delta or SS, please this is a huge insult to the region. We have great minds, and intellects who have and continue to express their opinions on regional issues and yet every time I hear some SS or Niger Delta, mischievous people continue to quote Asari. Asari is not a regional leader nor spokesman, he is a criminal and a mass murderer. Is this the type of person you would want people to quote as the spokesman of your region? how can you people continue to insult the Niger Delta like this?

Asari and boys killed hundreds of people in his village,ph during his fight for supremacy with Ateke tom in the early 2000s. His boys thereafter robbed, raped and killed people at creek road market waterside for months. That man Asari is from the most troublesome Clan in Rivers State, the okrika people are known for starting wars by land grabbing. Anyone over 35 who grew up around Borokiri would have heard of the Okrika wars they fought the kalabaris, nembe, ogoni etc. As a child growing up in King Jaja street, I know that the Okrikas during the clash with ogonis killed and literally ate the ogoni people in the early 90s. They're still starting land clashes with neigbouring clans till today. Many people outside rivers state think the ikwerre's are the biggest trouble makers but ikwerres do not go outside ikwerreland to look for trouble and will not bother you if you dont rub your nose in their matter. You can see how jonathan's wife (from Okrika) could not resist trying to control amaechi when he was gov. of rivers, which was how the niger delta lost Amaechi to APC and why we have these blood baths during election, Amaechi is now being disrespected in ikwerreland, but he did what he had to do to keep his dignity. Even here on nairaland, theres only one guy tonye who always hides behind the name ijaw (although he's from okrika) and creates threads or comment to claim lands in Akwaibom, SE, edo etc, thereby causing online tension here amongst people in the SS and nigerdelta. Only Okrika would that, the okrika people are not even honestly Izon people and only started calling themselves ijaw during GEJs regime for politics. Core ijaw people have no energy to drag land because ijaw people have lands that are blessed by Baba God himself, and the thing ijaws want is control of the resources on the land they know is theirs.

Other SS/SE people who kept praising Asari because he was shouting resource control have now seen that he can never be trusted! Sad that I have to air dirty laundry of the ND here, but people mentioning Asari have to understand the evil behind his name.

I'm know I'm off topic and sorry for the Rant, but I and other people whose friends and family were killed, raped or had their houses burnt by Asari and his boys are still waiting for his judgement, to come here and see you people quoting him as a spokeperson for the SS is insult to injury, it really hurts!
But you have forgotten that when Asari Dokubo just began to identify with Biafra movement, IPOBians used to make reference to him in representative capacity of the SS as an evidence that the SS had keyed fully into Biafra idea.

bla bla blAh!! What is this one saying SS against SE suspicious of them?? Stop spilling gibberish everywhere because of hate and tribalism!! You and I know the only genuine political alliance in this country is SE/SS . have you ever wondered why Apc could not penetrate the region?? The only Apc governor there was kicked out smoothly with his boy boy Godson.and for the records the East don't give a Bleep about the west either ,infact they way the political tides are turning the whole Eastern Region will Ally with middlebelt region after all we all know nobody trusts the west even their Northern allies don't trust them one bit and are always Suspicious of the west ,is it now the East that will want to Ally with the West?
APC could not penetrate the region yet Omo Agege of Delta Central Senatorial District won as an APC candidate, GEJ's Senatorial District in Bayelsa State was taken over by the APC in the last election with the support of GEJ, Rochas Okorocha of Imo defected to APC and won second term as an APC contestant, APC once clinched the three Senatorial Districts in Rivers State despite the state was being governed by a PDP fundamentalist, Orji Uzor Kalu just emerged now as an APC senator from Abia, Okorocha has just won a senatorial seat from Imo as an APC stalwart, etc. I think you just choose to believe what you like rather the actual facts on ground. You need to stop trying to always be politically correct.
Parties are fluid in nature and it is therefore suicidal to claim that one region is a genuine ally of another just because of shared party preference which is never even a 100% thing. The North, SE and SS were all united through PDP control from 1999 till 2015....does that mean these three entities were genuine political allies all that while? No condition is permanent, hence a time will come when this current pro-PDP leaning of the SS and SE will give way as it is already being unravelled through the gradual take over of some strategic Senatorial Districts in the SS by APC.

My guy, Edo state is far different from Lagos State. Oshiomole has really messed up and there is no way he can do anything to Obaseki. Note that Oshiomole is not Bini by tribe and Obaseki is Bini soil. The whole Bini tribe first are backing Obaseki while the rest other tribes are still backing him except maybe Oshiomole's tribe that won't back him and they are just one small tribe one side of Edo state. KBefore Obaseki would do a thing like this, note that he has the back of the Oba of Benin and many other powerful men like Tony Anenih and others. It will be very hard for Oshiomole to beat that because for his own carelessness and greed.

Also note that Edo state right now is the only south South State with an APC governor and so the doors of PDP are so wide open for him to shift if it comes to the worse and that will eventually give Edo state back to PDP guaranteed.
You mean Tony Anenih is backing him from the grave?

yeah you are right , the coup is not necessary but sincerely, Nigerian politicians are funny and the coup happening at that time is something they brought upon themselves

one negative side effect of the coup is the fact that it allowed useless uneducated people who were only trained to shoot dane guns in the forest , suddenly found themselves at the helm of affairs of the whole nation and the fact that they now realize they can sack the country with their dane guns
I agree with you now except on the claim that Nigerian politicians brought the coup upon themselves. As long as politics is a game of Interest, either selfish or selfless, there must always be clashes among politicians. Are our present crop of politicians not far more useless than the first republic ones? In fact the first republic politicians were all saints compared to the opportunists we have today. But does that justify military intervention now?

Please share said “self contradiction and inconsistencies”. Thanks...
>
For example, Adegboyega wrote somewhere in that book that Ifeajuna and some other different military officers started nursing the idea of staging a coup as far back as 1961. In another page of the book, he claims that the coup plot was to arrest the official corruption of the day.
From October 1960 to the middle of 1961 was just a 9 month period. Now what level of corruption could a nine month old government have so much perpetrated to warrant being sacked by a coup?

Secondly, he claims in the book that the coup was also aimed at releasing Awolowo and making him the Prime Minister. The question now is, how could a set of coupists whose objective was to impose a national government with a strong center (i.e. unitary system) have rooted for the most consummate and unrepentant federalist (i.e. the foremost advocate of weak central government) in the land to head such a government?
I can go on and on

thanks for that insight, but there is something we should note , looking at what was about to unravel assuming you are opportuned to be in the picture of things , do u think it's ohk for them to keep waiting for azikwe?? knowing fully well that things can not always remain the same and transfer of military men happened all the time , as a matter of fact, the coup went ahead because of two very important reason , position of nzeogwu himself, his assess to weapon , the fact that he can get them and said he want to use them for training like the exercise damisa which was a full blown rehearsal for the coup right under everyone nose,
secondly position of ifeajuna in Lagos , which gives him access to command distribution of weapon and vehicle , and another captain like that(I forgot his name , adeleke or so ) the timing and their position was perfect , do u think it is alright to have waited for azikwe to return ?? knowing fully well that in 2 weeks time they may all be transfer to other units , besides it's as a result of this transfer all the time that makes all this majors to meet each other in the first place

that azikwe escape is solely ifeajuna fault which is a person decision not shared by other members of the group , that ironsi escape Is just chance or luck , he was not in the right place at the right time and that saved him , 6 month later thou , the guy was done
The ultimate point I am even trying to make is that the coup was totally uncalled for regardless of how tense the situation was. First and foremost, the independence constiution which we all sent and sponsored duly elected delegates from all federal constituencies to draft did not make any provision for military intervention. Rather, it made it clear that whichever military officer found anything wrong with the system should remove his uniform and contest election to enable him have a chance to correct the problem and show the example.
Secondly, at the peak of the Western Region crisis, Okotie-Eboh had regained his humanity and had therefore begun to caution Balewa on the need to retrace his steps in witch-hunting the opposition. A few days to the execution of the coup, Balewa granted a press interview in which he disclosed that they the politicians were already seeking a political solution to the imbroglio. In fact they has concluded to release Awolowo, Enahoro and other political prisoners and then bring everyone to a round table. Politicians are politicians as they have no permanent friends or enemies within themselves but only permanent interests, hence they would always sort themselves out in the end irrespective of how acrimonious their differences might be. So why the coup?
And come to think of it, after the execution of the coup, who and who in that regime was later actually investigated and found to have looted the treasury so much as the coupists made people believe through their corruption allegations?

Can you in all honesty say that Nigeria is better off today than how it would have been if the coup had not happened? Would we have later had to lose 3 million innocent lives through an avoidable war if Ifeajuna and Nzeogwu had just let the political events run their natural courses then without intervention?
If the coup had not been staged at all, would we have ended up being ruled and misruled by a succession of idiots and and crass mediocres like Gowon, Murtala Muhammed, Obasanjo, Buhari, IBB, Shonekan, Abacha, etc who put the country on the reverse gear for 33 years thus derailing us totally away from the path to world powers status on which we stepped foot at independence?
Despite the challenges at the younger days of countries like USA, Germany, Canada, etc which we hoped to be like, did the military ever take over power in defiance to the sovereign constiution of the people?
Fourthly, while fighting for independence, were the likes of Enahoro, Awolowo, Azikiwe, etc looking forward to a country that would later be snatched and overrun by trigger happy boys in military uniforms?

From experience, when next you witness such, don't panic, yours will be filled first before those in the same amount of the order you placed yours before them, that has moved in front of yours.

You find your number moving from 4 to 8, because some part have been filled, and the open quantity readjusted, ignored the movement, because since some unit has been filled in your order, at that amount you placed, you are number one, except if you increase or reduced you quantity and resubmitted back, it will be treated as fresh order.

I am not Morgan staff, but speaking from experience.
You are right. I once noticed this too. My order was pushed down from position 2 to 7 but ended up being filled before those in positions 3 to 6 all the same.

you don't get it , the coup is not about killing everyone , it's about wiping the slate clean, the country was bad because the people are the center was just dam too corrupt and in their own eyes the only way is to wipe them off, they are soldiers remember

that said , the people that hold power were the northern oligarchy, and the west was their play ground , the east was not much experiencing any political upheaval at the time which is why everything that happened happened in the north and the west , akintola was killed , balewa was killed, bello was killed , their top military friends was also killed , okotie was killed too remember, the east was very well kept away from that power in the center to begin with , notable exception was azikwe who was personally save by ifeajuna , he will has his reason or perhaps internal weakness or loyalty to his people or whatever , ironsi was not spared , he escaped and when the coup plotters saw him at that 4:30 am they were just ordinary NCO officers and Ironsi was a General , just imagine the exchange that could have happened in that situation, the only people that would have had the boldness to shoot ironsi was one of the 5 majors , any other person would have been caged in fears , they are all military men

look at the composition of the coup plotters , it sad the only thing people use to classify them is their tribe , that is the song they played , that is what they want us to listened to, but look at it again , they are educated people compare to 70% of northern soldiers , who are totally uneducated and the idea of coup would have sound terrible to them , and it not something they can be going about talking about
before nzeogwu will deem it fit for u to join them , he will first engage u in the political happening in the country , he will examine ur thought , he will stylishly introduce wiping out the political class, see ur reactions , if u feel same way , u are in otherwise u are out, so u would agree with me that it will be difficult to involve northern officers especially since majority of them get to that position in the first place as a result of godfather's that the coup is meant to wipe out and he actually did inform many northern officers , most of them thinks he was crazy or joking
I don't agree with your claim that there was really no problem in the East hence a justification for the inaction of the coupists in that region. Please recall that in the interview granted by Nzeogwu shortly before he got killed, he said it unequivocally that the Eastern Region was their major target.
Moreover, Azikiwe was the most corrupt element in that government as he was the first ever Nigerian to be indicted of financial crime. His indictment was done by the colonial authorities and not an indegeous Nigerian government hence it couldn't have been said to be political witch-hunting. So any anti-corruption revolution which the planners decided to to go on with despite being aware that the originator of the said corruption had been tipped off and had therefore escaped three clear months to the day of action was nothing but a ruse.

But I'm still wondering sir, why is that when people speak the truth or have different opinions from popular opinions are simply referred to as IGBOS. Why could not you just correct me without playing the tribal card . With this kind of your reasoning, Nigeria has a long way to go in her journey to civilization.
Sorry I labelled you an Igbo man for your opinion which is actually not factual. But you would really not blame me because Igbos are mostly noted to be fond of peddling revisionist tales about Nigeria's political history all aimed at denying responsibility for the pioneering roles their forebearers played in the derailment of Nigeria.

But I am rather shocked that you, as a Northerner, could assert that Major Katsina was part of the coup plot.

You mean the death of a Colonel was not important in the 1960s Nigeria?

How many Colonel were in the Army as at then?

Nzeogwu was even of lower rank as a Major, yet the Commandant of Nigerian Defense Academy as at then.

Get your facts right.
We are not talking about importance in the rank sense. After all Ademulegun and Shodeinde were of higher ranks than him. The importance here is about whether he was at the planning stage perceived as a possible stumbling block like the likes of Ironsi, Ademulegun and Shodeinde were and therefore targeted. Stop pretending not to be getting the drift.
