Dearlord: This can't be true, how can 32 adult be in a room and not even a single person could detect the carbon fume or a common sense that a tragedy is about to befall them? In a house and not a room; possible. Sometimes, guests that choose to pass the night after such ceremony care less about the comfort away from home cos they are basically group of friends who spend most of the night drinking and chatting, so you might find 10 people sleeping in a room. Generator emits carbon monoxide; a toxic, invisible, colourless and odourless gas, hence, no one may have perceived it before it does the harm. It kills fast because it displaces the oxygen in our body. You can't perceive any strategy because it's not your house and you may have thought the Gen was placed in a very airy environment, remember some generators make very little sound when running. It is also dangerous to face the exhaust pipe of a gen set towards an enclosed area, that is like you kept it in such an enclosure. We don't pray for such though and awareness/education is the key. |
Nairaland General › Re: Billionaire John De Mol Sues Facebook Over Fraudulent Bitcoin Ads by decub: 3:45pm On Jun 06, 2019 |
DonJobless: Testboo.com
A Dutch billionaire, John de Mol, has recently sued Facebook over fraudulent bitcoin ads that showed him next to quotes about how much money he purportedly made investing in BTC with a company that was swindling users.
Reuters reported that De Mol’s lawyer has claimed the businessman, who created the reality show ‘Big Brother’ and is one of the brains behind the Endemol entertainment studio, is suing Facebook over damages to his client’s reputation, and over Facebook’s inability to stop the ads from appearing altogether.
De Mol’s lawyers wants Facebook to automatically block ads featuring him and cryptocurrencies. His lawyer further claimed consumers sent a total of €1.7 million (around $1.9 million) to the scammers, before Facebook reacted to complaints and removed the ads from its platform.
De Mol also wants to get the names of those behind the fraudulent bitcoin ads, so he can hand them over to authorities. Jacqueline Schapp, one of his lawyers, argued that Facebook’s system of reacting to users reporting problems isn’t good enough.
He said: "I don’t know what reality Facebook lives in, but that doesn’t work."
Facebook’s lawyer, Jens van den Brink, revealed the company couldn’t be forced to monitor every ad that goes through it all the time. He also said that it’s “technically impossible” to block ads with De Mol’s name on it, as he is not the only person with such a name.

kennybabs1980: My director's wife is a kind hearted woman but she is too sensitive and highly inquisitive. I have known her for 5 years, that's when I started working with her husband. I'm very close to my oga and his family.
My oga is a womanizer but his wife hasn't been able to catch him red handed. The woman became so friendly with me since February 2019. she will call me on phone to just say hi, recharge my phone sometimes etc.
I have always been so sceptical about the woman's attitude of recent since I know her as a very inquisitive person.
The bubble bursted in April when I travelled with oga to Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa States for some trainings organised by our department for some cooperative livestock farmers. The wife started calling me while in Kano to ask about her husband, who stays with him in his hotel room, his visitors etc which I said to her I don't really know.
Oga actually brought his secretary which I knew he has been dating with him for the trip but of what concern is that to me? When we returned, the woman actually came to our office where she looked angrily at me, hiss at me and left without answering her greeting.
My job schedule involves sometimes working at oga's house especially when we have urgent training assignments. The woman have been sort of looking at me as someone who is also promiscuous like her hubby. Yesterday, she called me a liar and deceitful person, just because she wanted me to divulge her hubby's itinerary to her. It's possible she think I'm a small boy sha.
I'm actually planning to move some of the equipment in oga's house to mine so that I'll have less contact with the woman but I don't want my oga to know my reasons since I didn't tell him all his wife have been doing so that I don't cause wahala in their home.
How could I handle this issue brothers and sisters? Don't put yourself in trouble or dey go use u settle matter! Just wisely make her understand what your job description is, which monitoring your boss is not part of. Your body language can explain that to her. If you are good at your job, her curiosity won't cause you any harm officially. If my wife's boss enquires on whom my boss stayed with while we were away on training, I will gladly tell her how the training went, what we were taught that can take the company to greater heights. What he does at leisure isn't my business. No matter how close we are, he remains my boss and I'm not paid to monitor him and report to his wife. |

charlsecy: Ok. But why couldn't BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile compete with iOS and Android?
If anything, were you expecting him to express frustration on international media? The question should be, has Windows that you mentioned stopped dominating the computer world? And the same way the once indispensable Blackberry reigned for 9 years before Android displaced it is how any King of the jungle can be dethroned if his position troubles the peace of other inhabitants. Remember necessity is the mother of invention. On your next question; no, but the same way Samsung gives Apple a run for their money, Chinese tech is giving US sleepless nights. The announcement of the 5G Huawei mate is the bubble. Trump is just playing a disarming politics which will encourage China to do more. |

Dottore: ARM was made prominent by virtually massive patronage from Chinese companies and believe me the Chinese understand the Tru meaning of Necessity is the mother of invention.
Google just shot itself in the leg and this is the beginning of the end. They have just "informed" not only Huawei but the entire China and licensed them to find an alternative.
Apart from China having their indegenous human resources who can effectively handle both written and spoken English, it will only take them an effort to employ less than 100 English scholars even Britons to work as content writers in creating an independent OS. If you have been to China you will better appreciate their prowess. They don't even have to work very hard. They already have Google Android source codes and Templates so they only need to plagiarize and customize to suit whatever they want.
Chinese phone manufacturers have rendered premium western phone makers into oblivion now. Where are the great names in the likes of BlackBerry, Motorola, Ericsson, Siemens, Kyocera, Olivetti, BenQ, Grundig, Nokia to mention but a few.
Even in personal computer where are the great names like IBM, Packard Bell, Acorn, Gateway, Magnavox to mention but a few. Even the great HP and Dell are struggling for survival. Do you know that already China has its own version of FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE, SEARCH ENGINES, MAP, CHAT APPS and other western premium sites and apps. The US just gave China a license to rubbish my precious Google and believe me in less than 3 years Google will be begging for merger with a Chinese company. You just spoke my mind. I watched Huawei CEO talk and I can tell you, the confidence all over him means they have been pushed towards independence. Chinese OS that can compete with Google, Apple, Windows loading... |

What about the investment you made with part of the loan? Ypu were not a novice in car hire/driving business so im truly surprised you invested part of that loan into town service.
You seem to be too trusting. . .and have very little business acumen. Can you take a break from all business and just look for a job, work, collect your salary, flex and save. No be all of us go be CEO or business man.
You could even look for an established church that will employ you. I assume Pastors are paid monthly
Edit: Why do you need a pastor or fellow man to help you pray/conduct deliverance etc ,if at all theres any spiritual undertone to your wahala? MFM pastors are human too . . Just like you. You made bad choices and decisions,C'est finis. I see nothing spiritual with your problems. Who works and saves his salary with his boss? Pray, bind and cast all you want, if you dont wisen up as a man and face the street headstrong, nothing will change. Hi Ify, nice piece of advice, but do know powers exist. I am not also a super religious/spiritual person, but I know Ephesians 6:12 and Matthew 17:21 are factual even till date. He may have presumably made wrong decisions, but they may have been orchestrated by powers beyond his control. The guy under him made some cool sense too, sad enough, recent developments have made it difficult to differentiate Mechanics from Mad people! MasterRahl:

Brethren, let us analyze this case critically...
1. The teacher received a phone call to go get her salary. She did and got the said salary.
2. She was accosted by some men (3 to be specific). An order was given which she refused to carry out. The hoodlums wasted no time in sending her to the world beyond.
3. Only three men were involved and they came in a tricycle which doesn't run as fast as a car. Unfortunately, spectators scampered for safety instead of accosting those guys (which I'm sure they would have successfully caught considering the fact that they came in a tricycle and not a car).
How do we handle such a case? Let's see...
* Should the employer be questioned? * Has she jilted a bae, who probably has sworn to take revenge? * Are the guys potential ritualists? * Could it be a random robbery incident? I see it as random robbery incident; intimidation gone bad. The trigger happy robber may have wanted to shoot in the air so she could release the bag and phones and it went bad. I've been a victim of similar circumstance. Then online transactions were relatively strange in Nigeria, dude had some good pips and was travelling to the East (from Lagos) with us, not knowing some low life men were tracking him. Successfully stopped at Onitsha by 6 and quickly boarded another bus to his hometown. A popular route so about 7 of us from the Luxurious bus still took the intra state plying the same route. As soon as we approached a somewhat bad road cos it rained that day, one of the guys insisted he must urinate, while the driver was still trying to maneuver and pull over, the second chimp was dragging the dude's bag with him. In lightening speed, the first chimp pushed me out of the bus, and while I was struggling not to fall off by bracing on the soffit of the bus roof(just like a conductor), the guy pulled the trigger slightly behind my ear. I actually escaped death by the whiskers. That's when we understood what's going on cos the dude and everyone else scampered for safety. And they accomplished their mission without resistance. |

But you can never find those people to speak for themselves on a public forum like this with over 2 million members, if they do, you can count them on your fingers, despite the MULTI BILLION NAIRA that was budgeted for it, they gave away few to their cronies, friends and family members and looted the remaining. Bunch of CRIMINALS.
PDP IN NIGERIA AGAIN?! Oga, I don't know someone that know someone that know someone that benefited. I did, I also attended the seminar in both Ikeja (close to LCCI; have forgotten the name of the venue but still know the direction) and EKO hotel which had Ngozi Okonjo Iweala in attendance. There were important dignitaries in that seminar and the artist that performed that day was Omawumi. Myself and 4 other guys met one of the beneficiaries that testified to the success of his training in South Africa and has 8 graduates working under him and enquired more into the programme as it sounded too good to be true. He summarized this way; I can pay for your flight (2 people) to come and see for your self and allow my employees explain to you, but you have to pay for your return ticket as he had explained everything in the podium. You can read it that he barely knows someone in authority. Our batch was next in line to travel to South Africa for training on IT before the election. In as much as some people MAY have hijacked the programme as claimed by some quarters, it was real! The finance minister wanted not just empowerment, but entrepreneurship and making graduates employers of labour. You can't beat that! If you still doubt, PM me and I will send you details of the company I did my SURE-P for you to go verify yourself. We were 5 interns then and 5 of us were retained. 4 got better offers with the experience they got and left, 1 is still with the company till date. |
