codemaniacs: I know naptu2. he is a paid political humanoid.
Last question. Just to be clear, you also say that the slave trade never happened. The Trans Atlantic slave trade, that is. Just to confirm there isnt some sarcasm I am missing. Thank you.
codemaniacs: what he has done here is show us that he is suffering from colonial mentality and posts like this are meant to keep the minds of people in Nigeria in line with what his paymasters want.
Small question, just before I leave a maniac to be a maniac - have you taken a view of the history of this poster or you have arrived at this conclusion solely based on this thread?
Naptu2 is a person suffering from slave mentality and is paid to ensure other Nigerians continue to suffer from slave and colonial mentality..
that's why he is not asking why Nigerian soldiers fought in a war that had nothing to do with them when the british had their own british people and soldiers they could call on to help them fight war...
Much of what the excellent Naptu2 presents is devoid of views - it is simply naked information - often of the kind that thoughtful people reflect upon. Please do not presume that this fine poster does not possess his views on the subjects you raise - and on much much more. What he has done here however, is simply present information for reflection, as is his wont.
Persephone1: Nigerian Men make terrible horsebands
And Nigerian women make great brides from heaven I suppose. Give us a break. If you must write, learn to wield a balanced pen. This hogwash is nothing but the most pathetic whining.
- You had made the statement that critical thinking leads to a non-belief in God, a statement which I consider at odds with critical thinking itself.
Nonetheless you may recall that within that thread you had made made statements which I have traditionally contested with many scientists over and over again. Basically these statements are to the effect that -
(x) time and space were created by or at the moment of the big bang and -
(y) the physical singularity existing prior to the big bang could be self-existent - or in your own words - "could simply be the default state of universe-like objects."
I feel that (x) contradicts (y) lamentably, and I am also severely at odds with the fundamental presupposition contained in each of (x) and (y) as separate statements. I did indicate in that thread that I would open a new thread to discuss these, and you did indicate your acceptance of that proposition.
So here goes.
Premise 1
If time was created by or at the moment of the big bang, then it is not possible to speak about a period "prior to " or "before" the big bang. Accordingly it is not possible to speak of anything existing prior to that instant - and this includes the pre-bang singularity that you spoke about.
Premise 2
Physical things exist in space and time. You stated that the pre bang singularity was physical. You then stated that there was no space or time at the point of the existence of the pre-bang singularity. How is it possible for a physical thing or state to exist without space and time.
Premises 1 & 2 evince the contradiction between (x) and (y).
Premise 3 - the problem with statement (x)
The problem with statement (x) is that if space was created by the big bang, please tell me what space is expanding into?
Premsie 4 - the problem with statement (y)
The problem with statement (y) is that it presumes a physical singularity to be self-existent. Aside from the fact that you have yet to properly articulate what that singularity is, the fundamental problem is that it is an illogicality to define any physical thing as self-existent because physical things are changeable whereas self-existence connotes immutability.
Conclusion: Your belief, and the assertion of the scientific community that time and space were ignited by or at the moment of the big bang, is insupportable, and delivers more contradictions than answers.
gforce5: I noticed a thread on"10 sets of People Who Shouldn't Travel To The UK". I found it interesting and decided to create my own version. I am an immigration lawyer who just came back from an IBA (International Bar Association) Conference. As a member of the immigration committee, we discuss immigration issues. Immigration is as old as time and inevitable. I don't have issues with Nigerians emigrating for "greener pastures" after all, I did the same thing as a teenager thanks to my folks and encourage many others to do so. What I do have a problem with are the categories of people emigrating abroad to start all over. The list is as follows:
1. Big earners/those who are at the top of their career: It doesn't make sense for someone who earns millions a month to abandon that in the name of JAPA. The chances that you will earn the equivalent to what you are earning in Nigeria is slim. You have to start all over again as no country is going to hire you over their own nationals.
2. People approaching 50 and above. I was insulted some time ago whenI stated that if you must Japa abroad, you should do it when you are young. While there are quite a few over 40s who have been able to re-establish themselves, there many more who have struggled to get back on their feet. The job market is a young person's market.
3. Politicians. These category of people make too much money to desire to move to another country. The system in Nigeria was designed to cater to their very whelms.
4. Small scale/large scale business men. If you have a thriving business, it doesn't make sense abandoning your business just to start over in another country. Don't get me wrong, there are many countries are looking for business men to invest in their economy. In the UK, they fall under the category of investor visas.
If you are a Senior Lawyer, Bank Manager, Senior Surgeon, Senior Chartered Accountant, you are most likely at the peak of your profession in Nigeria and very likely earning a decent amount of money that places you in the elite. It makes no sense for these category of people to emigrate and start all over again.
There you have it. Everybody else has the right to leave the country as it's not working but it doesn't make sense for the above-mentioned class of people to JAPA abroad (at least, outside Africa) as they have a lot to lose.
wirinet: Who told you I am from the SE? You guys tribalize everything.
What do you mean by "economy must be destroyed, jobs must be lost and Nigerians must suffer"? So it a labour strike that will nuke the Nigerian economy?
Strikes are an effective weapon in any democracy in the world to force employers and governments to the negotiating table. Strikes happen in UK, France and indeed Europe like pure water, and the economies have not been nuked. Strikes have even happened in Nigeria too many times to remember, the economy has not been nuked. Petrol at N600 has not nuked the economy Dollar at N1200 has not nuked the economy An external debt profile of over $14 billion has not nuked the economy.
It's strike by Labour that would completely destroyed the Nigerian economy.
Don't mind them. Also Govt profligacy has not nuked the economy. SUVs and Yachts have not nuked the economy. N70b "palliative" for lawmakers has not nuked the economy. Having the largest cabinet in the history of Nigeria has not nuked the economy. But protesting will nuke the economy. Humanity. We are something else. Our capacity for hypocrisy and delusion is simply something else.
wirinet: Disaster. As long as nigeria and Nigerians are not earning dollars, but demand dollars to import goods and services from overseas, naira will jump ballistically to N2000.
But all these years we were using the Nairacard for basic transactions online (Youtube Premium, Websites for example) nothing happened to the Naira. And it is also basic for people almost everywhere in the world to use their cards for such transactions. That policy has greatly handicapped us and it never showed any impact on the currency either way. You know where the impact came from, we all know.
You just wrote total nonsense! I would have done same over and over again!! Her mom is wicked and careless of her actions, and telling her aunty that her daughters husband refused her to come or worst still, going to tell her sis husband something that's not true, the needful was done
A fearsome and frightening future awaits you, child.
I gave birth 9 months ago and for some reason, my mom never expressed interest in visiting me and my child. She is a new wife now and I heard from some family members that when she wanted to come, her new husband said ‘your daughter has other people around, why are you worrying yourself’.
I did not take it personally at all. My mother has never been a dependable person. Me and my mom still talk everyday and my child is always on her status. This is her ONLY grandchild.
My mom’s elder sister’s (my aunty) youngest child is moving to my area. My aunty said that she’ll visit me during the move, and come and hold baby. She reached out to my mom and even told my mom that if they plan it, they can visit me together. My mom and my aunty are VERY close. I even consider my aunty my second mom in a way.
Suddenly, my mom starts calling me, saying she wants to plan her visit. I say okay. But with work and everything, my aunty will get here before her. She started telling me not to let my aunty into my house, saying that my aunty is a husband snatcher etc. she said my aunty will destroy my home. I tell her I don’t care about that. She started calling their mutual friends and telling them to tell me that my aunty is a husband snatcher. I did not fall for that.
Frustrated, she called my aunty and said that the truth is that my husband is uncomfortable. She said that MY husband is not from our town and that my husband’s people don’t like visitors. She said that I did not tell her about this out of respect.
My aunty called me and was apologizing, saying that she did not know. I responded and said that this is a lie. I even put my husband on the phone. Here’s my mistake - I sent her a screenshot showing my mom saying that she’s a husband snatcher and that’s why I should not let her into my home.
My aunty and I now agreed that we should let peace reign and that she won’t visit. She said she will still like to see me and we can meet somewhere. MATTER SUPPOSE TO END.
My mom decided to bring my aunty husband into this. She told my auntys husband that his wife is not respecting my husband’s wishes. My auntys husband now sent her my screenshot saying that he knows the real reason and that your child doesn’t even support you.
The screenshot has shattered my mom. She feels betrayed. My siblings who live with my mother are calling me a betrayer. I want to salvage the relationship between my siblings and I, not so much my mother. I have not spoken to any of them since the screenshot.
What do I do? How do I approach this.
Nlfpmod, lalasticlala, mynd44, seun
Rarely ever comment on family matters, but I dont feel you did well by your mother. Revealing a thing she told you privately was wrong, worse, screenshoting what she said and revealing it. That was very very bad, you threw your own mother under the bus. Find a way to recognize that and make apologies.
Even if she wasnt your mother what you did rather sucks.
Make no Mistake!! GOD ALMIGHTY foreign policy is pretty simple!
You Bless ISRAEL, You are Blessed! You Curse ISRAEL, you are Cursed!
Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Any wise Nation or person that has understanding of the times and Seasons will stand with Unshakeable with ISRAEL.
GOD will Deal ruthlessly with all nations that stand against the Apple of HIS eyes. Nations and people should go read the book of Joel and Zechariah in the Holy Bible so they don't incure and import God's Wrath on their nations, citizens and themselves.
This type of god is therefore a petty racist daftie.
misreal: Small yansh dey shake.. Instead of focusing on your country, you are there doing busy body
Obviously you have no knowledge of the history between the apartheid in both countries and the long standing solidarity SA has had with Palestine as espoused by people like Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
Chibuezem: When it comes to talking trash about Christains on this platform, you all arm yourselves to the teeth and spew rubbish all in the name of sounding savy and modern.... Shame on you I was annoyed that you misinterpreted the meaning of grace in your lousy write up. Grace is simply unmerited favour of God upon our lives
Good heavens. The worst lack of intelligence is a lack of a sense of humor.
OkukoIgbo: Prophet mohammed as a paedophilia dog and pig had to drag a 9 year old Aisha from playing with her doll to the mat to rape, such a randy worthless fake prophet.
Why do you say to a mat? You are kind and gentle oh. That prophet was so perverted he could have hung the poor kid upside down or dragged her up a tree or to a mountain pass, there to be serially raped in unimaginable ways.
LeoDeKing: Dis one want kill himself on top Tinubu matter.
Funny thing here is that, he can only scream, curse and insult, but there is absolutely nothing he can do about that. And all those curses, screaming and insults exist only on electronic pages.
Tinubu is not even aware someone is about to commit suicide on his matter.
Look, your thoughts should not always be about sentiments. Does it make sense to remove a subsidy and ask the population to make painful sacrifices only to commence the most lavish and expensive and expansive administration for yourself?
1. Bonanza for NASS. More than 70 billion as their own palliatives. Thats almost 200m per member. For nothing. 2. Bonanza for NASS again. SUVs. 3. The biggest cabinet in the history of the country. 4. Presidential Yatch.
Think, bro, think! Open your eyes! - Does he have to start purchasing a Presidential Island in the Caribbean before you open your eyes? Oh - and he will anyway.
wirinet: Believe me sir, I am not exaggerating. There is no human rights abuse thar was carries out under military dictatorship has not been done in this our so called democracy. Is it political assassination that remained unresolved? Is it locking up political prisoners indefinitely, sometimes more than a decade, without trial? Is it threatening and closing down media houses? Is it disobedience of court orders? Is it brutally cracking down on peaceful protests? This government even surpassed military regime by brutalising a whole president of NLC? Even Abacha never arrested NLC president, the worst he did was arresting Frank Kokori, former General Secretary of The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.
I hear your argument, but the political assassinations conducted among politicians, is different from a state directly carrying out assassinations, methinks. So for example, someone switching off Funsho Williams during a political tussle is not the same thing as the FG assassinating Kudirat Abiola, Alfred Rewane, Ken Saro Wiwa, Funmilayo Ransome Kuti and very likely MKO Abiola, to mention but a few.
And no - there is no comparison on press freedom. Which journalists have been jailed by civilians? My pop was an ace journalist and he and many of colleagues went to jail constantly for nothing under the military. You can never say this is true with civilians. An and I didnt even mention Dele Giwa and the parcel bomb.
JuanDeDios: Sure. Even as far back as 1900, there was a guy telling the whites in South Africa that blacks kids would do just as well if given the same opportunities as whites. Yes, I think generational/inherited trauma is also a factor in addition to socioeconomics. I wrote a post on this a while back.
DeepSight: I really don't know that any such hierarchy of intellect has been established. I will tell you why. Because many of the parameters used to arrive at such conclusions are simply not nuanced enough: they do not take into consideration key factors. Such as socio economic background.
Let me do this by simply giving you my response to a video I saw in a WhatsApp group I belong to. The video was of little children being taught computer science in an African school without any computers. It was sad to watch. I will paste my response to the video in the next post. And I hope you will see what I mean.
Now picture this:
You take a child taught "computer science" in this manner and place him in an academic competition on computer science with a child who learnt the science with a first grade laptop. What will happen? It's obvious what will happen. It's obvious who will appear mentally challenged and who will emerge looking like Einstein. You might wonder where I am going with this.
In the States, there are many misguided social scientists who routinely insist that the statistics disclose that white children have a higher IQ than their black counterparts. The problem I have with this is simple. It is so unnuanced as to fail to take into consideration the socio economic realities of both demographics. The vast majority of black children come from significantly poorer homes, suffer from lack of equal access to the quality educational materials which wealthier people can afford, dwell in crime ridden neighborhoods and all too often in broken homes. In addition to this they have inherited poverty and prejudice in the same way as many of their white counterparts have inherited wealth and privilege. You cannot realistically put both before the same examination and expect the same result.
And yet opponents of CRT (Critical Race Theory) hasten to scream that the black population do not suffer from any overhang of slavery, segregation and racism. A thing so absurd it is painful to think on it. Only a person who believes wealth cannot be inherited would ridiculously claim that poverty cannot be inherited.
JuanDeDios: Oh, ok. The thread I linked to is where I expressed some thoughts on issues related to this matter - in several posts. Not that I argued either way. I was just putting out and pointing out facts (whichever direction they lead). That said, the issue of racial superiority is an interesting and sensitive subject – which is why many experts just leave it alone. How do we even approach it? We know average IQ varies by ethnicity (meaning some races are NOMINALLY smarter than others), with Ashkenazi Jews, the Japanese and the Koreans scoring highest and Blacks in Africa scoring least. But are the whole range of things that make a people do well and advance their civilization covered by IQ? Does nominal IQ even cover the range of intelligence? And how much does IQ corelate with output? Interesting subject.
I really don't know that any such hierarchy of intellect has been established. I will tell you why. Because many of the parameters used to arrive at such conclusions are simply not nuanced enough: they do not take into consideration key factors. Such as socio economic background.

Rossikk: Spare me that BS. Obidients are not normal. They are hardcore tribalists for the most part. They don't believe in democratic choice, and made it their job to vilify, demonise and abuse political opponents and other candidates.
Virtually all of you call Tinubu a ''drug lord'' which is OUTRAGEOUS, since he has never been convicted of any offence.
That's called character assassination.
Is it a crime to run for president? How do you think his children and grandchildren feel when you call their dad a drug lord on social media? His own people in the west..how do you think they feel when you call their champion a drug lord?
Go and LEARN how to live among others, because right now, I consider you ignorant, filthy, repulsive scum of the Earth mirroring the similarly toxic, intolerant, authoritarian IPOB.
It is a fact that he forfeited narcotic related funds.
