When ppl talk about fake pastors, i cant help but laugh because such a connotation cannot exist. Saying a pastor is fake is synonymous to saying a dog is dog, or a house cat is a cat. This is because the object that brings pastors into existence is a fraud and i stand to be corrected. The bible is the book that all pastors refer to but this book is a collection of fables, stories of murder,genocide,rape, arson and any other dehumanising crime you can think of and all was on God's comand. The book is said to be the word of God yet it is fraught with inconsistencies and lies of unrivaled dimension. Before christian apologists begin to rain insults on me and my level of inteligence, they should get the book 'AGE OF Reason' by Thomas Paine, part 1 and 2. The book is available on the internet. Christianity in all its entirety is a fraud sold to humanity in packages of dogmas hawked arround in trays of faith.

It is kind of funny, you go to the airport hanger and you read through the list of jet owners and 70% are pastors, just a handful is owned by business men and the remaining few by politician yet we are wondering why Nigeria is so backward. I think in this part of the world the God concept is a good merchadize thats why it sells like hot cake.

I believe the concept of faith is the strongest and most logical weapon that God believers have used to propagate their respective religion and explain away their lack of potency.Since faith cannot be measured by any means possible, you will be told when your prayers are nt being answered that you do not have faith or that your faith is too small. Maybe if we can get or invent a 'faithometer' then we will be able to prove categorical that we have been fed with crap all these while but before then, lack of faith will always be their way of escape.

I have reading everyone's post and really did not want to pass any comment but then a thot came to my mind. It seem to me as if both atheists and theists in the long run converge to the same line of thot, just that its coming from diffrent points of view. Atheists believe no one created the universe, theists believe nobody created God. The two entities existed  (in separate beliefs) of their own volition. My question is if religionist believe that God just existed without any interference from anything and posses such powers and dexterity to create a universe  that comports itself with such orderliness why is it difficult to believe this same universe could have actualy existed  without intervention from anything or anyone. Christians most of d time behave like the overpampered last born of a family and therefore think they have an exclusive preserve of God. Like we have extremely limited view of the universe so also do we have an extremely limited knowledge of God (if she/he exists).

Why doesnt God ever answer prayers? I can tell you categorically that I am yet to meet anyone who can say that his prayers have been answered. Let me give you my life's example. When I got married, my wife took in almost immidiately but few months into the pregnancy, she lost the baby. Then for another two years or there about we tried have another child but all to no avail. We prayed, fasted, did night vigils and anything you can think of. But all our prayers and entreaties to [God] fell on deaf ears or probably no ears at all. Later we were advised to go and see one particular doctor. The doctor started his treatment on us and within three months, my wife got pregnant. My son is going to be three in January, thankfully.
What this has proved is that science and not prayers helped us. I f we stubbornly stuck to praying, we most likely would still be childless. My thinking id God (if she/he really exists) does everything possible to ensure people do not believe in him/her. I know tonnes of people who pray hard, fast always and are strong believers in God who wallow in abject poverty and have been praying to God for a better life for ages and nothing has happened for them that will show their prayers have been answered. I do not want to sound like an atheist here but my advice to anyone is to embrace science and reason above some silly blind faith. Science has done so much for our world than we can ever imagine, for example without science so many people that I know WILL still be childless today. Why? IVF was what helped their hopeless situations and I must tell IVF has put smiles on lots of peoples faces, it has brought joy to so many homes. It may be expensive but I know with time the cost will go down with time. My NL people, IVF is a product of science not some blind religion. Through science birds have become a poor match for humans at flying, fishes are a poor match for us in swimming and tiny insect cannot compare with us in terms of viewing microscopic organisms. science has saved more lives that religion could match in a million years. Do you know how many people could have been left for dead or would have died? I can go on and on but I need to pause a little. My friend think up ways to solve your problems by yourself, solutions are right there in front of you. If you keep on waiting for God you probably may need to wait for ever because according to a yoruba saying 'Mo n bo wa Olorun, ko ya l'ogun odun' (When God say am coming, He probably may not be ready to move in the next 20 years )

Thank you very much for that short exortation on giving, it was really refreshing. But my guy don't you think most of the people in Nairaland belonged or belong to one church or another? And am pretty sure they have all been taught about the mumbo jumbo of sowing and reaping in sacrificial giving. You know what, be very thankful that financial problems have not touched down in your life then you would have been able to prove the authenticity of 'law'. I know people who give, and when I say give, i mean they give to anything that has to do with church and ministries work, but when issues touched down in their live, no help come from anywhere oooo. So don't try to sell that to anybody here, you may claim that its because you gave or are giving that is the reason for your continued prosperity but please I beg to differ. The richest men in the world don't give no tithes, offerings or any other church economic crap. Rather, they made their money through hard work and smart thinking and after they have made enough, they chose to give it all out again to a needy society like ours. If the pastors give those monies to the needy and pay school fees for indigent students, why can't I do it myself? I am smart enough to administer my money the way I choose. Let me lecture you a bit, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya died in a plane crash, and the whole christian community mourned but no one arrogated the cause of the crash to a curse. Am pretty sure if she was a fiery atheist campaigning against the church owning goons they would have said God ordained her death because she was raining blasphemy. The question of Jesus being God has its root in the concept of trinity. While the majority of the Christian world considers the concept of the Trinity vital to Christianity, many historians and Bible scholars agree that the Trinity of Christianity owes more to Greek philosophy and pagan polytheism than to the monotheism of the Jew and the Jewish Jesus. @ Gaggi, if you do not open your mind for a miracle, you will not find one. If you do not believe that miracles exist, you will nit see any. Everything that has to do with God, involves you believing first and obeying his commandments. The Bible says; '' you ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss'. Do you doubt when you are asking God for anything, then you are still joking, Christ Himself said, for some miracles to happen, it takes serious prayer and fasting. Statements like these make me realise that the promoters of miracles and the likes present God to be an inanimate machine (e.g your car), and humans are the drivers, and faith is the is the pressure you put on the pedals (accelerator and brake) as well as the direction you turn your steering wheel. The more pressure you put on the accelerator, the faster the car goes in the direction you turn your steering wheel. My question now is between the two entities who is actually in control of the time it takes for you to complete your journey, the car or the driver.
If the driver is in control (like majority will agree) then it brings to a conclusion that humans(Christians and other religionist) created God, produced operation manuals (Bible, Quran and other such books) tell you how to operate/communicate with God and make you think its all your fault that things are not working for you in God

It baffles me that some people insist that it is because u dont have faith, thats why u dont experience miracles. for me that's hogwash, total baldadash. In all my years, I can't lay claim on one miracle and guess what I dey pray well well, even go MFM for one week's prayer and fasting or should i call talking and torture. If my miracle depends on my faith, how come Sarah laughed the angels to scorn yet she still got pregnant and had a saf delivery at eighty something? I need someone to confirm real miracles if it exists, not vanishing headache and all those toy story miracles.

How Nigeria is being destroyed by Religion

ANY society that prioritises ignorance will fail to live up to its potential.That was the crux of Damola Awoyokun's piece "The Next Einstein and the Expressway Churches" published in The Guardian of May 22. In contemporary Nigeria, the miracle-hawking Pentecostal churches are the bastions of the crude tendency to ignorance. For them, God is Mr. Fix-It-All who will descend in full glory to solve all our personal and national problems. Consequently, diseases are cured not by demanding for a well-equipped public health care system and functioning research laboratories but by prayers.
Accidents are prevented not by good motorways, effective traffic policing, and sane road habits but by prayers. Examinations are passed not by diligent study but by praying.

Armed robbery attacks are foiled not by a revamped police force and the provision of enough jobs for the unemployed but with prayers. What these
churches find primary is being dabbed on the head with anointing oil by pastors speaking with false American accents, with each pastor clad in a designer suit and wearing a gold wristwatch that costs more than the average monthly income of his impoverished congregation. Seek ye first the anointing oil of a prosperity preacher and every other thing shall be added: this is the prevailing creed.

Mention must also be made of how these establishments encourage corruption by placing the tags of miracles on suddenly-acquired wealth. Questions are not asked about the provenance of the riches, as evidenced by the recent case of an employee who looted money from the coffers of his workplace, an upscale hotel in Victoria Island, and donated it to one of the more visible miracle churches in Lagos. The only thing that matters is the paying of one's tithe, even from fraudulent funds. Obviously, when a delusion afflicts a sizable chunk of the population, people tend to forget it is a psychosis and they begin calling it a religion. A delusion though remains a delusion even when championed by millions of believers. Remember: the fact that millions once believed the earth was flat did not make it less spherical.

Regrettably, Jude Fashagba's piece "Einstein and the People of Faith" published in The Guardian on Sunday of June 1 failed to engage with these
relevant issues. Rather than writing a worthwhile response to Mr. Awoyokun's submission, Mr. Fashagba preoccupied himself with stringing together
disconnected and evasive sentences. Resorting to such a stratagem is the only option when one has a bad product to sell, and there are few products less marketable than Mr. Fashagba's pitch that science and faith are not oppositional. Science foregrounds observable evidence as it is basis for understanding the world; faith, in contrast, privileges the unquestioning adherence to a body of received claims even when unsupported by evidence.

A committee of the National Academy of Sciences recently said "the goal of science is to seek naturalistic explanations for phenomena, within the
operational rule of testability" while St. Paul wrote in the Book of Hebrews that "faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the certainty
of things not seen." Anyone who fails to see a fundamental difference in both approaches needs to get himself a better education. Science is a
continuous process of empirical inquiry, not a static body of knowledge. That is why there is something known as the scientific method. Science does not fear change because its method is served, not compromised, by new insights;religion, on the other hand, finds nothing more frightening than new ways of thinking which it labels heresy. Those who revised Dalton's atomic theory were not burnt at the stake by scientists; prelates of the medieval Church murdered Giordano Bruno for querying the validity of their theology. It is because of this open-mindedness that science has explained and predicted the universe better than any religion and, despite the lamentations of people like Mr. Fashagba, will continue to do so.

Since Jude Fashagba is a staunch believer in miracles, he could consider it a major miracle that his write-up did not choke on the barrage of its
diversionary questions. The Bible teacher wondered if Albert Einstein was the atheist he was "painted" to be. It is on record that Einstein
considered all religions to be childish superstitions. The scientist wrote: "The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of
human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this."

Attempting to exhaustively answer Jude Fashagba's avalanche of questions would only succeed in dignifying his pathetic red herrings. He could spend his time more profitably in researching answers to his endless questions rather than indulging in the voyeuristic sport of "googling" out Mr. Awoyokun's name on the internet. And what connection does a person's accomplishment have with the validity of his or her statements? It is instructive to remember the case of James D. Watson, a Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, who was fired from his prestigious position in 2007 after making racist statements that lacked any scientific backing about the intelligence of black people. Perceptive human beings know how to separate a person from the validity of his or her assertions. Clearly, Mr. Fashagba is not so discerning.

At this juncture in our national life when Nigeria is troubled by a myriad of social and economic problems, what the citizens need is clear-sighted reasoning and not mystical abracadabras. In the decades during which religious fervour has gained ascendancy in Nigeria, it has become obvious that blind faith is creating more problems rather than solving the ones on ground. Witness the routine traffic hell caused on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway by the Pentecostal business centres situated along the route. And the ongoing case of Pastor King. And the Miss World and the Danish cartoon riots. And many other cases too numerous to list. Religions do not encourage reasoning; instead they promote rationalisation, something entirely different.

This was why St. Augustine, a prominent theologian of the Church, said: "I believe so that I can understand." Blind faith comes first and then
justifications for it follow. For the centuries Europe followed that precept, its citizens were locked in the Dark Ages, and only when the Renaissance
ruptured that dogmatic mode did Europe begin making intellectual progress. In the liberal era of Averroes, Al-Razi, and Avicenna, learning was far more advanced in the Islamic world than in the West; not until religious suffocation came in the wake of Al-Ghazali's attacks on rationalism did that civilisation fall way behind. The fate of the forerunner who tumbled into a pit should suffice to instruct those coming behind, says an African proverb. In relation to the matter at hand, one can only hope it does.

Jude Fashagba should be advocating the entrenchment of a logical and evidential attitude in the decision making process of Nigerians, both in our personal and public lives, not the opposite. We are bored with seeing political figures consecrated in public by religious leaders, only for us to watch in horror as these public officers go ahead to spend eight years looting the treasuries and committing atrocious human rights abuses.

Mr. Fashagba is also an architect. I hope he does not believe that the epidemic of collapsed buildings in Lagos was caused by the machinations of evil spirits. If he does, it will be of great relief to all if he restricts himself to designing his personal residence and to his other profession of Bible teaching.
In his second calling, he could promise his congregation a thousand miracles and deliver zero. None of his credulous flock would find it necessary to bring him to book.

Even Jesus Christ, the creator of heaven and earth and the savior of all humanity was perturbed by what people thought or said about HIM. When the Pharisees and other people said the miracles HE did were by the power of the devil, HE made sure HE cleared things out, to the extent that HE even picked thoughts from their minds and cleared issues in their thought.(I am talking Bible here!). HE questioned HIS disciples when HE asked 'who do people  say that I am' That means people's perception of you is very important because it was important and is still important to The author and finisher of our faith. On the issue of the distribution of 20m copies of Rhapsody, my dear friend, disassociate your mind from religious beliefs and think for some few moments like a businessman. If I can get 20m copies of my written book sold by persuading a good number of partners to invest by purchasing some of my books and give it to the supposed poor free of charge, I will do that. Truth is, like everything else, the book was never free, it was paid for by the partners. It is a bestseller, bought and paid for by the partners, honestly that was a classic business strategy, in fact Pastor Chris should an award from Lagos Business School for such creative business idea.

If, on the contrary, Pastor Chris had printed and distributed 20m copies without involving anyone then, to me, that would have been a laudable and altruistic cause, but that was not the case.

Don't get me wrong, I respect Pastor Chris like I respect every human being irrespective of age, creed, colour or religion, but I must confess to you that there are some things he does or has done that am not so proud of.

Please, pick up your bible and read for yourself, your don't have to think along the thought line of another man, a case in point is your quoting a statement by Bishop Idahosa. He was an imperfect man, only God is perfect so quote only what God has said and form your own opinions. Trust me that will make you an original

My understanding is very intact, and the Moses' sister you were trying to remember was Miriam. Now the New Testament church is a flat structure because when Christ gave up the Ghost, the veil of the temple tore from top to bottom, hence you and I, from then on, have unrestricted access to God. In the new testament, we are all priests and if you read your bible well, you will realize that nothing happened to Aron because he was a priest in the temple. So, like I said, am as anointed as anointed can be and so is everyone who is called by His name. Its obvious that you are a strong footed follower of Chris Oyakhilome and hence a member of Christ Embassy. I do not think it civil of you to start hurling insults and casting innuendos at people for expressing their opinion about an individual, irrespective of your respect or otherwise for such an individual.

That said, how come Pastor Chris is always in the tabloids for controversies like this? A few years ago it was the case of a man who stole several millions from his employer only to use the money to purchase a huge power generator and some other items for the (Christ Embassy) church and all efforts to make the church refund the stolen money fell on deaf ears. Before then, it was the case of his association (or fraternity) with a VERY controversial healer which degenerated into verbal pyrotechnics between him and Pastor Chris Okotie. His never ending controversial stance lead him to be involved in a land dispute with the RCCG. When will he ever come clean? You said none of the pastors who made comments contacted him before making such comments, but, in your opinion, do you think Pastor Chris will be calm enough to explain such action without allowing the issue to degenerate into the Chris Okotie saga? Listen, someone wrote on this blog that sometime ago, an individual walked up to Pastor Chris and handed him a cheque of N500m, and guess what, he probably collected the money without making any inquiry into the source of the person's wealth. I know a Pastor in this Country who somebody offered to undertake a N700m project that his church was planing to undertake, but he (The Pastor) turned down the offer when a secret private investigation into the individual's line of business did not yield anything substantial or convincing enough that could generate such wealth. That, my friend, is the kind of man I would love to call my pastor.

You claimed he distributed Rhapsody of Realities to people and to you that is an unparalleled act of altruism. My dear friend, is Pastor Chris not the author of Rhapsody? Did church members not sow into this great and noble cause? My dear friend, if I am hungry, of what value will one pamphlet be to me? If I am looking for my son's school fees, of what benefit will reading one book be to me? (Please read James before trying to answer these questions).

Do not castigate people for expressiing their displeasure on the actions of a man you hold in such high esteem. If they choose to pay N3,000 to go to clubs and satisfy their lust, its their choice but they do not have to pay to hear the good news for which Christ Jesus has paid the ultimate price.

Jesus Christ fed 5,000 excluding women and children. Chris Oyakilome taxed 25,000 including women and children. This guy is really doing a good job!

'Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm' is what all the members are screaming, but Jehovah who made this statement was not referring to one church leader or religious head. HE was referring to all the people that are called by HIS name. So I am, in all ramifications, as anointed as anointed can be, and so is every believer. Therefore, kindly perish the thought that God will punish me, or anyone for that matter, for correcting pastor Chris in relation to the allegation of extortion. For the avoidance of doubt, the above text is a craft commonly used by dictatorial Christian leaders to input fear into the hearts of their followers. When Peter erred, Paul corrected him, so why should there be a difference in this present dispensation?

My question is : is it in the bible (biblical) for men to wear trouser. Yes the bible says a man should not wear a woman's aparell and vice versa, but can anyone define what is a man's clothing and what is a woman's clothing?

If he doesn't know what happened then that means he surrounded himself with charlatans, who take advantage of people's interest in him to make quick money. Pastor Chris therefore should have all these people fired otherwise he is in complete support of what happened or better still he has a leadership flaw. I attend a church that is equally as large as Christ Embassy but nothing like this can happen without the pastor's accent. My question to you therefore is, were you at venue, was money collected and on what basis, was the basis justifiable (in your opinion), and if it is not what do you this is the proper damage control measure.

How can u say your pastor can never charge money, when  it has even become a norm now to charge money for special programmes,cos i just saw on TV now where the advised some people to register on time in order to win free tickets. You are just as dogmatic as the other 25,000 members who paid the N1,000. I cannot understand what these men are turning christianity into. Where did Jesus  or any of the apostles charge money? I am not judging pastor Chris, but am judging this act. This is pure extortion. I used to attend BLW (Believer's Love World) which is the student arm of Christ Embassy, when I was in school. When it comes to extorting money from student, they are masters of the game. I stopped attending when i was about to leave school and I have never regreted that move.

They claimed its for crowd control, thats 'hogwash'!  They can tell that to the marines. If they really want to control crowd, they can print the tickets and ask cell leaders, unit heads and other leaders in the church to secure tickets for members of their group(free of charge). That way only committed members will be able to attend the 'service' (since it is so special they dont want too many people to come, not even sinners), rather than making it survival of the richest(Rich sinners can come, but if u r poor d gospel is not for u). This is wickedness in its height, religious intolerance against the under privileged. But Pastor chris should know something, God is watching. Someone claimed on this blog that Pastor Chris may not know about all these things, but that person should go and read the bible, when Eli's sons were doing evil in the temple, God punished them and Eli too was not spared. But am sure pastor Chris is fully aware, otherwise he should refund the money once a conned worshiper can produce the con embassy ticket.

Pastor Chris, if you keep on being an extortionist to gospel hungry Nigerians, mark my words, your reign of subtle terror will soon end!

He should be able to direct you on how and where to get the book and also give you a proper review of his book. I would have loved to give you a review but I think the author would be in the best position to do his own review.

I don't know if anyone is still interested in this topic, but i would like you to lay hold of a book by Muyiwa Oguntoyinbo titled 'The beautiful Bride'. The book describes several practices in our mordern christianity which complete departures from what the 1st century christianity is all about. Read the book with an open mind, not with a sense of judgement either about the book, the author or whoever the book talks about. Just read it for knowledges sake and for the sake af being a better human. Along with this, read dueteronomy 14:1-end then you will see how tithes and all these other levies came about.
