The government should hands off from regulating the sector. The market is there and I believe many businesses would want to invest. It doesn't have to be the government. The government knows what to do to attract investors if they so wish.

The reason why we have all this wayo is because petrol is not being sold at a profit. We don't have rice scarcity, beans scarcity, or even garri scarcity or queues for all those stuff.......because all the sellers of these commodities are allowed to set their prices as they wish.

We can build all the refineries we want...and if we still insist that fuel must be cheap because we are poor, and because we are suffering....the refineries won't earn enough money to pay for their upkeep and maintenance. Remember we do not even make most of the components.

And stop blaming 'vested interests'. The real reason why subsidy is there is because most Nigerians back it. The vested interests will do far better if subsidy goes.

At least we should build the refineries first and wait if it will fail or not. Importing refined petroleum products is the height of stupidity.
I'm not against subsidy removal, but I'm against importing petrol for local consumption. It affects a lot of things.

I could remember when there was scarcity during GEJ time, in Ilorin, whenever a Tanker leaves depot, the Gas Station the Tanker is headed would be announced in radio stations, so you can't hoard or divert the product. Also depot gave priority to marketers that don't cut corners.
It's too bad to go to Minna yesterday and Gas Stations having fuel, but come to the FCT, wahala. Even fuel stations in Suleja are selling.
