First of all, forget long story most men are easy to manipulate. Even after due diligence they still get conned.
Secondly, yes you are right marriage is meant to be enjoyed that's why I wish many Nigerians would have sense and stop stigmatizing single women or divorced women and pushing them to stay in unhappy unions.
Yes some get coned but if its the one they can manage they do but if its the one they can't it gets broken.
There are things that can be tolerated but when one enters into ones unbearable, then everyone goes there way.
But its very wrong for one to enter marriage with a revenge mindset, its evil simple.

Single women or divorced women who is pushing them? Its there choice. Everyone have choices. When my sister was having issues with her husband, she wanted to quit, even the guy was tired. But I told them that there issue was redeemable, that they should exercise Patience. They listened and worked on themselves, under one year, everything became lovely again.

But if it wasn't redeemable then she would have quit. It was her call to make. Society will always be society, but ones happiness shouldn't be based on what society thinks.
Each person is meant to be happy and enjoy life.

Many men are actually in such marriages presently, even the so called observable ones.
Well it is men that didn't do there due diligence search very well, that end up with such type of women.
A well looking man don't end up with such.
And some that made such mistake, if its the one they can manage, they will, but if not. Everybody will answer him papa name.

Na so a distant cousin of mine married such, it didn't last up to 2 years he cancelled the marriage.
He was lucky to later get a good woman. Today they live happily in the US.
Abeg Marriage is meant to be enjoyed.

So you think it's okay for men to treat women anyhow because they are 'offering her marriage' (you know what I mean by that)? undecided

If a man carried the demeanor that he's doing his wife a favor for marrying her, how will the marriage turn out. We heard a man tell something similar to his wife on this forum, and started lamenting when she began to react.

That's why it's best for men not to treat marriage like some sort of prize. I also read on this forum how a man locked his girlfriend outside overnight, just to 'test' if she's a wife material. And when she acted docile and tearful, he praised her for it. Now tell me, what could be more evil than that?

Some women don't care how the marriage turns out. As far as they walk down the aisle even once, they are good.
A woman that allows herself to be treated anyhow is because of the way she kept herself. A woman of worth is valued.
There are quite a lot of women men don't treat like that but with love and care in fact with I beg to marry them.
Like I said wise guys don't near those kind of women na foolish ones does.
And it fits both of them.

Also There are many good marriages out there, its not everyone that's toxic. There are sensible men and women enjoying there marriages. So talking about toxic people is not my prerogative nor my concern.
FamilyRe: Husbands, Have You Noticed That Women Change After Wedding? by djon78(m): 1:23pm On Oct 30, 2019
CHoccolaTE:
In Nigeria being a woman who was married before is better than being old and never married so I don't think the women doing this care about the bolded part.

It's toxicity but toxic marriages are everywhere, Men cheating left and right with impunity and society defending them and claiming it's male nature.

Besides that issue of matreatment during courtship is not the only reason women change after marriage. It's just one of many.
Well she may not care, but the man definitely moves on because its better to move on than to be in Union with such a toxic mind.
Although Wise men avoid such women, its only foolish and unobservable ones that end up with such type.

This is a good point please ignore the pin heads critisizing you. Let's be realistic, women are under immense pressure in Nigeria to get married, even when they have not found the person they are compatible with, once they get to a certain age they start hearing insults about their singleness, insults like old cargo, evening newspaper, Shiloh customer, she get bad character that's why she never marry and so on.

These same women desperately bear all manner of rubbish in relationships just to escape pressure and insults and get married. It's not easy for them to just end relationships and go back to searching in old age so she bears crap treatment from the man but then gets married and starts to remember all the maltreatment and starts acting up in marriage.

I don't know of those attacking your post live overseas or if they don't ever leave their houses to know what happens in Nigeria
That's terrible toxicity!!
And then she unleashes it at the man
What if she married a man that doesn't send who has nothing to lose by ending the marriage nko?

Nawa for the way some women reason.
That attitude is not good.
If one carries revenge into marriage, how will that marriage turn out.

Even some men do something similar
But there own is complete emotional withdrawal. They don't send there wife, or even maltreat her.

Those who do these things have a way karma pays them back. Evil no good at all.

@djon78,

I think u mean nigerian marriages not modern marriages. Why is childcare a taboo for our men? The benefits are so beneficial to every member of the family. Its a bonding activity for you and your wife and becomes less of a chore for her, you finish earlier with time for yourselves.your kids also bond with you and don't just see you as a provider, everyone is happy. love and marriage is soo easy if we all treat our partners the way we would like to be treated.
These are really the end times..
Like I said, a lot of men don't do domestic duty. They feel that, it brings room for ridicule from there wife or next he turns to erand boy. What most do is they pay for the services of nannies or get one from village. I have sisters married and none of there husbands do that. And all of them are professionals, with good paying jobs.

In fact our first daughter has 2 nannies, and oga pays for there services.

Some men still help, but it depends on the wife's attitude also. Some women will start belittling the man. And moreover most men focus on making money. That's the way they were raised.

But on the other hand, like I said women tend to overlook there husbands. And yes it's prevalent in many marriages.
Couples should support each other, man in easing the home run for the woman through the best way either by hiring nanny or helping out. Woman should have time for the husband, that way the issues are addressed, but if not so, they are opening doors for marital problem.
And this is a major problem in today's marriages. Its not something to hide.

I said modern marriages concerning Nigeria.
FamilyRe: He Cheated And Blames Me by djon78(m): 4:58pm On Oct 25, 2019
The main issue is that in modern marriages balance has to be made.
In running the home, a house help or nanny will be needed. Since most men don't do domestic duty, although some do.

But on the other hand its wrong for a woman to neglect a man by giving all attention to the children. This pushes a lot of men into the arms of other women.

Though I am not supporting your husband, but, the truth is that successful marriage is a work. Many couples stop working on there marriage, which is just between the two couples excluding children.
When this is not done, the marriage is already developing crack. That's why many marriages are folding up, you began to question why getting married in the first place.

But there are couples that are still getting it right, having fabulous and wonderful relationships between them, still good friends, and companion. And honestly I believe this should be the goal of every marriage, but if not, then na scam and deception then.

We lack comparative advantage in rice production.

it's like telling a very fat man to engage in Sprint competition. He can partake but he'll never win.

But use him in shot put and you have a winner.

You're better off importing the things you lack comparative advantage in.
The guy was complaining of high import duty. So actually they import but government charges high import duty to discourage import and encourage local production.

Talking about comparative advantage but we have local producers, how will they be protected. So they should go out of business. All over the world, wise government protect local industries because there success means employment availability and better taxes. So government is very right.

The government has been right in putting high import duty on these imported goods,

These are part of ways that we get to diversify our economy. You build comparative advantage. It doesn't come overnight or just drop from the skies, you work for it, toil for it, sweat for it, to get there so government is right.

Imagine the money that would flow to the people.

So many countries are eating from our foolishness.

You get the drift
This is the major reason for underdevelopment and poverty in Africa
We use our scarce foreign earnings to enrich other countries

Do they know how much dollars CBN uses weekly to maintain Naira rate stability
If Naira is not defended
It will lose value
Because we are an importing Nation, importing almost everything Nigerian importers will be seeking dollars to buy goods at the international markets
To get dollars they exchange it with Naira
And because Naira is chasing the dollar. It depreciates

In addition our borders are too porous due to land connection
Benin republic then imports through there ocean and smuggle into Nigeria
Which is double wickedness
Even government loose revenue on top

Government should keep the closure till indefinite simple
Its total bleed for the economy
Until our neighbours go get sense.

Nigeria should'nt just be best known on only religous matters, we can up our game as a nation if we really want_ God bless Nigeria.

I did the same thing, called her family that I was sending her back. They called her and I gave them my condition for continuing with the marriage and the consequences of violating the terms of the agreement, now she control her emotions better.
I even went to court to start divorce proceedings but stopped midway.
I was like a sissy in the marriage for long until I woke up one day and decided to take full control of my house.

Her family were shocked by my sudden change, she attacked me and I gave her serious 'controlled' beating, by controlled beating I mean she pushed me to the wall but physically I was very angry and vibrating but in my heart I was loving her but had to show her my strength as a man and to let her understand how it felt inflicting harm on our maids.
Never beat a woman, but if it's the last option only do it when you are not reacting in anger but pretending to be angry.
She tried to blackmail me into apologizing but I never did, for sometime now she has been abiding by the tenets of the agreement and I try to encourage her, watch her mood changes and how to keep it in check, it has not been easy but it's better now.
Honestly they can be ogbanje!!!
