got me second past created already

still need words on me designer
Here's the body of the mail sent by Cuddlemii regarding your request: "For those without designers, we are working on it, and waiting for the designers to finish with the current poets assigned to them. We might extend the deadline again,
We would keep you informed, and reassign you.
Thanks"

Zeetry: Does d embassy need transcript again?
If you were NOT accessed with your transcript by your Tier 4 Sponsor, and thus not stated on your CAS, then the embassy does not need your transcript. However, in a situation where you don't have an original certificate yet & were assessed by something like a Statement of Result, you may decide (but not compulsory) to put the transcript there IF you have it.

princessmoi: Good advice, but what if there is a part on the form were there is a question about the amount of maintenance fee?
There is no part of the form that requires you to drop information about maintenance fee [you only do that on the Appendix 8]. Besides, when you save an online form without submitting, UKBA or FCO does not have access to the details...in fact, the details isn't forwarded to them until you submit. The idea is only to get the GWF number for early appointment booking in case you're running out of time.

Rapture

DESIGNER: Centje - "The Medicartistic Being"

WHY I CHOSE THE TOPIC:
Being a believer who has followed closely the Christian doctrine, it isn't surprising I chose to write on RAPTURE. The word depicts a sure event which is to come unexpectedly. Though highly prophesied yet tarries; for this reason, more people are becoming less conscious of it, thereby relinquishing the need for godliness and embracing evil. This poem aims to achieve a form of awareness.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE DERIVED FROM WORKING WITH A DESIGNER:
Working with my designer made me understand the endless possibilities of making one's dreams a reality and the essence of developing one's passion. My designer is a doctor by training, and an artist by passion and practice. Man is indeed limitless. Also, teamwork brings out the best of anything. I also learned the true meaning of a "picture telling more than a thousand words."

CONSTRAINTS IN WORKING IN A TEAM:
I'd say primarily, inadequate communication. Although it is expected, considering both the designer and I, the poet are 2 different people in two different fields (Medicine & Engineering resp.) with busy schedules, there wasn't really flow of ideas to perfect our work but due to professionalism on the designer's (Centje) part, we were able to achieve our goals and deliver eventually.

ABOUT THE POEM:
The type of my poem is a fusion of Imagery and Narrative. It has 5 stanzas with 6 rhyming lines making up each. It invokes in the mind of the reader, a picture describing what the event of rapture might look like: "One shall be taken As two share a bacon." Lines 13-18 descriptively tells about the event taking place with three illustrations forming 6 lines in the third verse; while lines 19-24 tells of the effects of the event especially on those who are not raptured.
The first six lines of the poem was more of an introduction into the nature of rapture i.e. Rapture has silently begun all these while but isn't noticed. It means the deaths of people is a little rapture in itself and whatever we do on earth today contributes to our fate - whether we're raptured or not.
The Figures of Speech utilized are basically Metaphors and Similes to give a perfect picture of the event. In fact, the first verse is all simile. Lines 11 & 12 also uses Personification where Doubt and Reality are said to have been killed and conquered respectively.

"Like a thousand-year volcano, yet docile," illustrates the inherent doom in awaiting a long-prophesied occurrence; and "Like cocooned pupae jostle" is a simile comparing the silent struggles of a caterpillar as it turns into a beautiful butterfly.
"It approaches like scotch mist dropping," tells of the unnoticed warnings of a mist before a heavy rain...just like ignoring the warnings of our prophets and preachers.

The last verse finally tells of the reality that has dawned on those left behind and how no immediate remedy exists once the event has taken place. Again, similes are used to create a beautiful image.
"The voice of reason is lost in the deep of darkness," tells of thoughtlessness in a state of fright mixed with surprise.
"And as in season of grief, joy is needless," shows there is no place for regret nor sudden change of status.
And finally, "Without remedy, the bubble has ruptured," tells of the irreversible effect of rapture and the poem ends with a summary or concluding metaphoric statement; "Like fiction, the saints are raptured!"

VOCABS:
Scotch mist - A light rain like dew.
Connivery - scheming or devious plan.
Trinket - a little trifle or anything of little worth or significance.
Shackles - restraint on one's action or progress
Pupae (Plural) - an insect in its development stage between larva & an adult.
Jostle - to move through by pushing and shoving.

WHY DESIGNER USED THE DESIGN:
The Designer (Centje) used the design to perfectly depict the image created in the mind of the reader. The sparkling person rising into the sky depicts a raptured person and the dark region around the design depicts the multitude of those left behind, immovable and staring into the sky.

MESSAGE BEHIND POEM:
The message behind my poem on Rapture is simply "Be Aware of What is Sure to Come and BE PREPARED!"

Rapture

Like gathering whirlwind though yet unseen
And creepingly garnering dusts in between;
Like a thousand-year volcano, yet docile,
Like cocooned pupae jostle
Silently as bubbles popping,
It approaches like scotch mist dropping.

Unexpectedly arriving,
Connivery lacking,
With blaring trumpet,
And nothing like trinket.
Alas! Doubt's murdered,
Reality's conquered!

One shall be taken
As two share a bacon,
Few picked at random
From many in tandem;
Three vanishing from ten
As Jill loses Ben.

Men thrown in disarray,
Wondering at such a display
Of cloud forms never before seen,
Silently ask within what it all mean;
The Saint caught up in the sky sparkles
And those left, still, as if in shackles.

The voice of reason is lost in the deep of darkness,
And as in season of grief, joy is needless.
A solution is sought but none is found,
Atonement come to nought, trumpet's sound;
Without remedy, the bubble has ruptured,
Like fiction, the saints are raptured!

Pdizzle: Aii lets loosen up, i was thinking abt something and decided to ask the house. If your girlfriend/boifriend, fiance/fiancee, wife/hubby wahever, gets to read your posts on NL knowing its you, i mean reading everything you've ever posted here, can the relationship survive...be honest. As for me it can't grin
As for me, it will survive.
PS: Pdizzle, please hurry to the Nairaland "The Poet" Round 2 Submission thread and create a second post else you may be disqualified. Thanks

abbakacici: Pls can someone help me answer this questions
Hello I need your advice. I paid my
tuition on wed and thurday the school said cas
take 3 to 4 days. Thus I can get my cas on 22 or
23. So can i book appointment then but my maint
money will reach 28 days by 26 or I should wait
still 26 to book the appointment.

Please read this carefully. If you're to resume on the 23rd Sept, and your money will be ready on the 26th Aug; Once you get your CAS, I advise you go over to the online application page & start your visa application. Once you get to the third or fourth page, click the "save application" button. They will send you a GWF number into your email (copy this number in a safe place) and they'll warn you that the "unsubmitted" application will be deleted in 7 days. Now, go to the VFS visa appointment booking site and book the earliest date with your GWF number and your CAS reference number. You must submit that application before the 7-day expiry or if your 28-day period will run beyond the 7-day expiry, just "login to complete existing application" after 5 days and add some more data and re-save to begin counting another 7 days. As soon as your 28 days is up, submit your application & print out.
The reason I'm giving you this option is so as to get an early date for appointment. However, U'll likely get a day less than 15-working days to 23rd Sept, so quickly mail your School and request for an extension. PLEASE!!! If you don't understand my advise, just ask me further questions or don't follow it at all; I don't want you doing something that will cost you eventually. I'm only trying to help.

B) my total amount in the acc is 3,621,861.23 (14200 pounds is supposed to be in my account) but 3,557,066 has been thewre for 28 days and I added the about 65,000 naira recently. can I still apply or they expect the 65k too to be in the account for 28 days?

Is your appointment on Tuesday? If it is, then I suggest you monitor the oanda.com rate between now and Tuesday & print a page of the conversion of your money when £1 is <=#250. That way, I GUESS you're safe since the closing balance is what they'll use for your conversion. Nevertheless, be patient for Prof. Justwise or another person who will be sure to reply you

lalla89: thanks justwise what is the minimum ammount can will put into my personal acconut in order to secure my student visa in naira please ?
The amount you need is Your tuition fees + £7200 (if your UK school is not inside London.) However, if you have paid any part-payment of your tuition, you can deduct that paid amount from the total of the amount you get above. If you have paid deposits for accommodation, you can deduct it from the total amount too (NOTE: maximum amount deductible for accommodation is £1000 i.e. If you have deposited £1500 for accommodation, only subtract £1000 from the total amount.)
Now, for your question, go to www.oanda.com and click "currency conversion;" supply the amount you calculated above and find it's equivalent in Naira. That Naira amount is the least amount you should have in your naira account. Due to price fluctuations however, please add something extra on that amount just in case. Any amount from #30,000 should be okay but #50,000 is better.

Honey86, I'm sure you know Justwise doesn't like to hear the word "agent" and this thread is better than any agent anyway. But in fairness, Justwise, some people are "slow" & are always dependent on help when it comes to issues like this and for their own sakes, maybe external help is what they truly need.

I attepmted the challenge only because i wanted a public critique of my work so i can know if i can truly call myself a poet-now i know...i did not even pick my best just randomly selected two from which i chose one to enter the competition. Even at this level i am satisfied.
Same here! I once submitted 3 poems for one to be published in a newspaper column & none was picked, so I just wanted a critique of my work as well so as to open rooms for improvement. It's a good thing Cuddlemii has done here.

Yes, by God's grace I squeezed into Round 2. As a brilliant Engineer who likes writing & poetry without studying Art technically, my joy is that my poetry isn't seen as crap. I just think we all should be encouraged to be better poets than ourselves. We just could hit the Hall of Fame someday.

Okay. But please, still consider the results well because it appears two people may share scores for the 25th position. Kudos to you once again, well done!

Cuddlemii: This is the reason for the confusion -->https://www.nairaland.com/1380020/nairalands-poet-competition-season-2/1#17181957

He/she submitted two poems after contestant Number 22, to make things worse, he didn't number his poems. So the subsequent post after his started with Number 25. A contestant is meant to submit just one poem, so we hid one. But the confusion persisted because Number 23 and 24 were scored. I deleted 23 from the score of all the judges, and hence the error. Please see the updated score sheet. And I am thinking of disqualifying contestant 24 for the confusion. Sorry about that.

Cuddlemii, Didn't quite understand the mistake nor the correction; either way, I'm still motivated. But going through the new result, Number 9 and 56 have the same scores and you picked 9 as the 20th position. I think both should be in or something
