plendil: You guys are all missing the point here.

I don't think its about the ability of its members to pay (its a big boys club, I believe) or their ability to artfully dodge being caught that is the issue, its more of a symbolic message being sent about the need to restore sanctity to the matrimonial bed.

The social misfits, kidnappers, armed robbers, where do most of them come from? Broken homes! and what is a major cause of such failed marriages, especially those that have produced children? I'm sure infidelity would rank high.

It may not be perfect, but like that of Imo State that rewarded ladies that had kept their virginity, its sends a strong message

thankfully some sense!

It shouldn't really matter whether or not dey r caught or whether d case of adultery can be proved, its all abt d message being put across.

particularly shocking and very disappointing r the comments from women here, many of whom i assume are married, who i expected
would applaud this move, but are instead deriding it. One could almost sense a tinge of sombre resignation here - that no matter what, their men would always cheat. It shouldnt be so.

I strongly believe that by this move alone, the club will actually have high number of members who will stay faithful to their wives.. Whether we accept or not, Abuja is one hopelessly sinful city. It is reeking with immorality. Go to d major hotels fridays and Saturdays, you'll see what i'm talking about. Someone commented abt d some married men budjeting d amount they'll spend on ashawo 4d month!

Like i said in d previous comment, we actually need more of these clubs. They should be encouraged.

It was not Charity geared towards the cause of the poor, but another strategy by US government to seduce Nigeria Government to doing their bidding. To hell with such Greek's Horse. I implore the Federal Government to release $700m in a single batch to the Health Sector to continue with the Polio programme. Charity and aid are supposed to be granted freely without political ties. Nigeria is not the 53rd State of USA. We are sovereign, we can afford $700m, to hell with Noe-Colonialist, World Policing, Mrs America.

^Abuja is actually a small city, so it would be easy for to d club to have agents in major hotels, where the acts usually take place, to monitor their members since most cases of adultery rarely take place at home.

Those who refuse to pay will be asked to leave the club.

As I speak to you, two to three persons have paid N100,000 fine each while others have decided not to throw away such amount of money by involving themselves in any proven case of adultery that threatens their marriages.

We certainly need more of these clubs. cheesy

Abuja Club Where Members Pay N100,000 Fine For Adultery

•3 already caught

By ROMANUS UGWU

In Abuja, adultery among men is actionable and dear. Men that belong to a social circle in the city are now more wary than ever about adultery because their circle criminalises the act and whoever commits, is liable to a fine of N100,000. The meaning is that if you don’t want to incur their wrath or can ill afford N100,000 to drop for the act, please, do stay afar.

The Aso Country Club is out to re-invent stronger and more peaceful family ties among the members, therefore it has defined punishment for adulterers. But you may ask how they arrive at conviction for any accused before the one should be found guilty as to pay the fine?

They agree that adultery is a big menace to marriages, therefore, a way to take away the threat to family is by clamping down on guilty members with the N100,000 fine. It might surprise you that majority of the members of the club are middle-aged men and even men with very young families.

But they are resolute on waging a fierce war against the biggest threat to marriages, launching in a commando fashion, an operation to restore sanity and family ideals.

The pioneer chairman of the club, Chidiebere Ogbaji Ferguson told Abuja Metro that the campaign to checkmate adultery, the greatest attack on families, from spreading like wild fire, wrecking havoc and crumbling many marriages, is the motive behind forming the club and its resolution of N100,000 fine.

The club after its maiden investiture vowed to wrestle the menace of adultery to submission. He said: “We have read about so many divorce cases in FCT. Many close-knit families in the past are today operated by single parents.

We discovered that the social factor of this city is influencing not only marriages but also families. We decided to use the club to sustain marriages, deep relationship among people that found themselves under the same roof as spouses.

“We formed the club to advance deep interpersonal relationship among us, promote good and healthy lifestyle, realize our roles as husbands and heads of our families. Ferguson, the CEO of Home Mall noted that: “We have stood stoutly, with our rules and regulations, against any member going the wrong way, abandoning his family and allowing adultery to tear his marriage apart.

As I speak to you, two to three persons have paid N100,000 fine each while others have decided not to throw away such amount of money by involving themselves in any proven case of adultery that threatens their marriages.

So how does he marry this to Matthew 7:7 that say 'ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be open.. ? Or even psalm 37:4 that says take delight in God and he will grant you the desires of your heart!? Or Matthew 21:22 that says 'Whatsoever ye ask for in prayers, if you believe, you will receive'? Or even '1John 3:22' that says ' And we will receive whatsoever we ask in prayer because we love him and keep his commandments'?! angry

The bible is filled with scriptures to support any crap message you wanna pass along. How come he hasn't spoken on the accumulation of earthly wealth and how God frowns on it?

It doesn't necessarily contradict what Adeboye said. If you check all the passages you listed, there are conditions (which I put in red) for each desire. If those conditions are not fulfilled, its like asking amiss which I believe was being referred to in James 4:3

supercolez: Nobody can tell me the prayer God answers, he does things in his way which no 1 understands. Lust or not, God gives wen he wants and He doesn't wen he doesn't want.

Not sure I agree with this. As long your prayer is in line with His and The Word, you WILL get an answer. the Bible clearly says so. (Matt 21:22)

I think its important we put things in proper context. Are we encouraging others to go into mindless consumption of wine? Definitely not! We all have different levels of faith and self control. If one has had problems with it, then by all means stay away from anything that has to do with alcohol. And if consuming it will lead others to sin, they for their sake, and not yours, stay away from it.

1Cor8:13 For this reason, if food causes my brother or sister to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause one of them to sin. That's why I against going to joints or having a bar at home.

But if you're trying to convince me that the occasional cup of 'palmy' that I take, in the privacy of my room, certainly not enough to get me inebriated, is against God's Word, then I'm sorry to say it your personal opinion - which you're entitled to - and not scripturally backed.

m.k.o2005:

WINE AND ALCOHOL WAS SEPERATED IN THE BOOK OF DEUTRONOMY 14:22-26 !
''whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or FOR WINE, or FOR STRONG DRINK, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shall eat......Deut. 14:22-26.From this scripture,we can see the bible using wine and strong drink to tell us that they are not the same !
The bible uses them interchangeably ! The Jewish wine in itself is of grape Juice.Fresh wine just like the water Jesus turned into wine was fresh wine and can never intoxicate becos grape juice does not intoxicate but when it ferments'expect anything from it !
God HELP US

You see, this is what I was talking about. If indeed it is used interchangeably, how then do you know when it is the unfermented(if there's anything like that), or the fermented one, supposedly the strong drink, according to you?

Consider:

Gen 9:21 And Noah began [to be] an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: 21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Gen 19:33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose

According to you, the Bible would have made it clear that it was 'strong drink' and wine in each of cases above

ZACHIE: As born again spirit filled Christian you don,t need a bar at home. it is so wrong. Baba is so spot on this.
Just walk up to your community club or a lounge and if it must be a bar, make sure it is a proper decent one and shack up

A Christian having a bar loaded with assorted drinks is clearly sending a bad message and is not acceptable.

I'm not also sure a Christian shacking up at a local bar, no matter how decent, is a good idea. What is another brethren who is still young in faith sees him there? What message is being passed across?
Religion / Re: Alcohol And Immorality By Pastor Adeboye by doofanc: 11:44am On Mar 10, 2013
kaytytty: na wa o when will christians ever agree with one another, some will say it is bad some will say it is not and they all bring their reference from BIBLE.so that means the BIBLE is the number one cause of confusion among the christians

Very, very wrong. THE BIBLE is not the cause of confusion, man's interpretation, sometimes beclouded by personal sentiments, usually is.
Religion / Re: Alcohol And Immorality By Pastor Adeboye by doofanc: 11:34am On Mar 10, 2013
This alcohol issue has been debated severally here, and like that of tithing, remains as divisive as ever. I won't be suprised if this thread, within d next few days, stretches to over 10 pages.

D pendants will insist that d consumption of just a single drop of alcohol is sinful. A christian who finds himself craving alcohol should check himself, they would add.

Others, like Frosbel above would say its about moderation.

And the debate continues. . .

I'm well aware that RCCG is uncompromisingly against alcohol drinking in whatever quantity or form, but you may notice Adeboye didn't condem it's consumption outright; his emphasis is that it always leads to something more severe, usually like sex.ual sins.
