CrimeRe: Man Caught Selling Vulture As Fried Chicken by doofanc: 1:03pm On Sep 21, 2012
Vicjustice: That man is evil.
It is generally risky to consume animals like Vultures as they themselves consume rotten animal carcases that carry bacteria and germs.
Now, his offence is not because he sells vultures, but rather because he deceived the public that he sells chicken, there would have been no offence had he publicly declared that he is a Vulture (meat) seller.
It is even more disturbing that this was done by a Hausa man, Muslims are known to be very clean with animal slaughter and consumption hence they would not touch animals that they consider "unclean".
But why would any body have the rights to open a food business, why is there no official regulation and control for this trade?
stop being an i.diot. how do you know he is a muslim?

Car TalkRe: What To Do If Your Car Is Stuck In Mud by doofanc: 10:22pm On Sep 20, 2012
Siena: Because vehicles have differential, most of the open type.

If both wheels were locked to rotate at the same rate, think how a vehicle would handle when taking a turn. Wheels rotate at different speeds when turning a corner, with the inside wheel covering less distance.

If this were not the case, both tyres would be forced to rotate at the same speed when turning, causing tyre wear, high fuel consumption due to the increased friction and of course, strain on the differential crownwheel and pinion.

The only way past this is AWD, LSD or EDL. Still, this is a different topic altogether.
I see. Isn't it possible then to reduce the differential between the tyres, i.e if one wheel spins faster and faster, far more than would be needed to negotiate a turn, some power should be transferred to the other tyre rather than it remaining completely stationary?

why do the car manufacturers make the cars this way?

the one with the good firm grip stands idly while the one with very poor traction being stuck on the mud spins furiously to no avail.

CareerRe: 7 Access-Bank Employees Die Of Hypertension Trying To Meet Target by doofanc: 11:01pm On Aug 26, 2012
Young and jovial Solabomi (29 years old) who was married with 3 little children and a lovely husband died early this morning. Sources also confirmed that over 60% of access Bank staff are highly hypertensive and run the risk of heart attacks in their young age.
shitty journalism anyone who believes this trash should have his/her head examined.

how do we know she was not hypertensive before she took the appointment with Access bank?

how do we prove the she stress she developed was due to the job?

anyway, my condolences to the family.

Ola one: ^^^^ It is a job. But, let graduates who are desperate for income apply with their SSCE. He should stay clear of this. The move is full of spikes
really? when you come across an unemployed graduate not 'desperate for money', let me know!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Issues In Dangote’s Graduate Drivers Scheme By Jarus by doofanc: 7:20pm On Aug 22, 2012
ola_pluto: Someone tell me the difference between Dangote's program and a billionaire looking for a phd holder to help him mow his lawn for a big pay. The only thing good about it is the paltry pay. If a billionaire comes tomorrow to employ phd holders to help him cut bush for 1m naira monthly, folks will apply because it puts food on table. But what happens when money becomes less important?
@bolded until then I'll gladly collect my 1M monthly and keep my Phd in my back pocket.

hononyx: So far I can see that those promulgating this job for graduates are working with oil and gas firms...or business moguls...I don't have a job and I won't drive the truck...lets continue to demean ourselves in the name of bad economy while some of us sit back behind our laptops with beautiful jobs pretending this idea is genius...we will get there...oya Bsc, B.eng, HND, OND, SSCE, no cert apply now...rubbish....
@bolded, fine. its your prerogative. like someone said, its a free world. Those who don't see it as demeaning (I certainly don't) are free to take up the offer.

if you have a better idea on how to mop up the millions of unemployed graduates roaming the streets, be my guest.

PoliticsRe: Reno Omokri's Question On Nigerian Roads: Same Or Improved? by doofanc: 7:22am On Aug 21, 2012
yohanna zack: The rd frm makurdi thru naka to kogi is notin but dead traps. The rd frm makurdi thru otukpo to otukpa is another dead traps, frm otukpa junction to ejule in kogi, the rd is beta, but frm dat area thru kogi to part of edo dats ibilo, to ondo states, motorbike can overtake a car. There is no way dat one can drive freely fo 10 minute witout slowin down pot holes. I think dis pple shld stop dicivin nigerians on radio/tv. Its obvious dat dis is d worse govt nigeria has ever had. Govt dat considers releasin money to MDAs as implementation.
@bolded, fully agree. that thing should not be called a road at all.

makurdi to otukpo is not as bad as it used to be, especially the part from alaide to otukpo, which used to be riddled with pot holes. so i dont fully agree with you here.

otukpo to otukpa has also improved, compared to the horror it used to be.

i think the greatest improvement will be otukpa to obollo afor down to enugu which has literally transformed from an 'alley of horror', with its pot holes and gulleys to a smooth sweet ride.

There has also been improvents in the makurdi lafia road which also used to be bad. same for the zaki biam katsina ala road.

in all i would give him a C+
FamilyRe: Married Woman Displaying Pictures On Social-Media: Wrong? by doofanc: 12:52am On Aug 14, 2012
I actually had to reread OP's original post to determine where all the venom being poured him is coming from. Could it be just that simple innocuous observation--a valid one at that--that gave rise to the needless bashing?

Why would any decent married lady choose to bring disrespect to her family and her husband all in the name of modernity?

Women are known to be highly intelligent creatures; however, some of the supremely inane comments here --'marrried or not a ladies can do as she pleases--have caused me have a rethink.
FamilyRe: Married Woman Displaying Pictures On Social-Media: Wrong? by doofanc: 12:25am On Aug 14, 2012
seunajia: Big ups Maclatunji! We cavemen understand your point.

Now it's okay for people to dress indecently because their partners approve of it. It doesn't matter if it offends other people's senses. Uhmmm they should either cover their eyes or travel a lil bit and stop being caveman!

Interesting thread.
It's okay to dress like a LovePeddler since men would pick on you anyway :/

What has happened to our African ethics?
What has happened to dignity?
What has happened to the pride of a spouse?
What has happened to self respect?
What has come over our people?
What has marriage turned into?

The answers are not far-fetched. "Freedom" "ko matter" "it makes me comfortable", all rationalisation have slowly eroded our core values.

I read from page one up-till this point and I was awed. Are these Nigerians? Are these people for real?
Abajo. No wonder! No wonder you guys get treated like s.hit. No wonder your spouses do not respect you guys anymore. When you have no self worth whatsoever. Nothing is left to the imagination. unclothedness is now fashion.
I used to think it's only "omo-alata", "ashewo", "show biz people" that show flesh because they have goods for sale? And that educated, well brought up people dress and think decently :/ How wrong was I? sad

PS: I'm a caveman thinking aloud. I hope we still have cavewomen out there?

Caveman/cavewoman is euphemism for, atleast, decently dressed men and women or men and women who believe privates should remain privates. Copy that!
beautiful!
i owe you a bottle of sweet wine.
Foreign AffairsRe: Time And CNN Suspend Fareed Zakaria For Plagiarism by doofanc: 10:33pm On Aug 12, 2012
most people are now of the view that the contentious article was written - as usual, it is believed - by one of his many staff; it just happened to be a particularly lazy one this time. Fareed, it is believed, could not have engaged in such blatant plagiarism. Given his background, he most certainly would have been aware of the repercussions.

Whether this would attenuate the seriousness of the situation is another case altogether. Many (haters, if you like) don't think so. Some actually think its far worse because it portrays him as dishonest, money-hungry charlatan. You have to bear in mind he collected huge sums of money (an average of $75K) for some of these essays. If it turns out many of them were 'outsourced', things could become very messy indeed for him.

yamakuza: it appears that Diamond Bank and First Bank are the next best alternatives?
BAMMZ: I recieved a very rude shock from G.TB too. Always thot they were the best until lately. And i cant believe Firstbank, as old as she is, will be such an innovative bank! I underrated FBN for too long but they have surpassed my expectation. What can i not do with my savings account and firstonline? Now i know better. . .a newbroom can never teach a older broom!
First bank has certainly been a pleasant surprise regarding the effectiveness of their e-banking services, whether via mobile phone or lappy. I've been truly impressed.
