Foreign Affairs › Re: Donald Trump Revokes U.S Pro-Abortion Law by drnoel: 12:21pm On Jan 24, 2017 |
saints2: U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked the Presidential Memorandum on Mexico City Policy and Assistance for Voluntary Population Planning, which allowed voluntary abortion in the U.S.
Mr. Trump, who made anti-abortion policy one of his campaign promises, announced the revocation on Monday, according to a statement issued by the White House.“I hereby revoke the Presidential Memorandum of January 23, 2009, for the Secretary of State and the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (Mexico City Policy and Assistance for Voluntary Population Planning), and reinstate the Presidential Memorandum of January 22, 2001, for the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (Restoration of the Mexico City Policy).
“I direct the Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, to the extent allowable by law, to implement a plan to extend the requirements of the reinstated Memorandum to global health assistance furnished by all departments or agencies.
“I further direct the Secretary of State to take all necessary actions, to the extent permitted by law, to ensure that U.S. taxpayer dollars do not fund organisations or programmes that support or participate in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilisation.”
Mr. Trump said “the memorandum was not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person”.
“The Secretary of State is authorised and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register,” the statement read.
With the revocation, Mr. Trump has barred U.S federal funding for foreign NGOs that support abortion, relaunching a battle that has long divided Americans.
Source: http://www.ajayiwrites.com/2017/01/us-president-donald-trump-revokes-us.html Hehehehehe, he starts like Bubu. Barring, revoking, restricting things he has not bothered to research well. By this his action, he has successfully placed abortion back on the negotiation table. An issue Obama successfully avoided cos of that presidential directive. God forbid he continues like this, we may be seeing something simillar to what Buhar is doing. That will be catastrophic for not just America but countries dependent on them. |

Asking your hubby to quit his job and become a 'house husband'? I don't think any man would accept that.
And you can't afford to quit your job because you actually earn more than he does.
Why not get a nanny for your kids? Best answer. But be careful with nannies. I know someone that out of desperation place her own mother on salary to take care of her kids. The only down side is that she can't talk to her any hw but her kids are well taken care of. |

Speaking on AriseTV during the weekend, Amaechi said Buhari is fit and healthy.
‘’Last Sunday, the president stood for one hour; and if he is not fit he would have collapsed. I do not think we should discuss president’s medical history. What are we worrying about? I will soon go for 10 days’ vacation, in which I will go for medical check-up. The rumour about his death or he is alive, is all nonsense,’’ he said.

Politics › Re: Ohanaeze President-general, Nwodo, Adopts IPOB, MASSOB by drnoel: 11:00am On Jan 20, 2017 |
Stingman: NEWLY elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo (Junior), has said he is ready to die for Igbo cause , saying the rise of Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) no matter how divided they appear in public are basically motivated by same sense of outrage and bitterness.
Addressing a press conference in Enugu on Thursday after their inaugural meeting of the pan-Igbo group, Nwodo said he will adopt MASSOB and IPOB as a father of Igbo nation, stressing that although he does not believe in their methods or approaches for the realisation of a sovereign state of Biafra, he will not abandon them.
Nwodo noted, “Our young men and women can no longer tolerate a second class status in their own country. They can no longer forgive the President for arguing before he came into office that Niger Delta militants were meekly treated and tolerated by President Yar Adua while Boko Haram was harshly treated by President Jonathan when his law enforcement agents literally opened fire and maim and killed unarmed MASSOB and IPOB members.”
They see how returnee Boko Haram members are absolved and rehabilitated while leaders of MASSOB and IPOB are incarcerated or mercilessly murdered. In their rage, they are becoming uncontrollable as they pass a vote of no confidence on us, their parents, describing us as cowards and compromised,” he added.
According to Nwodo, “Because the older Ndigbo have seen civil war and its devastating consequences, they naturally hesitate to support any military action against the Nigerian state that may waste their children because Ndigbo business class is heavily invested in Nigeria outside Igbo land, they fervently believe in a united Nigeria even if marginalised politically.
Asked how he was going to adopt the pro- Biafra movements, the former Minister for Information reiterated, “As President-General of Ohanaeze I intend to extend my warm hand of paternity to IPOB and MASSOB. They are my children.
I shall never desert them. Their struggle is my struggle even if we do not completely agree with methods. In warfare there are two types of approaches: Coercion and diplomacy. I completely favour diplomacy.

Investment › Re: Comparison Of Ponzi In The US And Nigeria by drnoel: 10:33am On Jan 20, 2017 |
danielgod: *US SEC Enforcement Actions Against Ponzi Schemes*
What Is A Ponzi Scheme?
A Ponzi scheme is an investment fraud that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by new investors. Ponzi scheme organizers often solicit new investors by promising to invest funds in opportunities claimed to generate high returns with little or no risk. With little or no legitimate earnings, Ponzi schemes require a constant flow of money from new investors to continue. Ponzi schemes inevitably collapse, most often when it becomes difficult to recruit new investors or when a large number of investors ask for their funds to be returned. Curtailing Ponzi schemes and holding accountable the individuals responsible for these scams is a vital component of the SEC's enforcement program. Examples of SEC enforcement actions against Ponzi schemes include:
2014 Neal V. Goyal – SEC charged a Chicago-based investment fund manager with operating a Ponzi scheme that used new investor funds to pay redemptions to existing investors and fund his own lavish lifestyle. Gaeton "Guy" Della Penna – SEC charged a Sarasota, Fla.-based private fund manager with defrauding investors in a Ponzi scheme that ensued after he squandered their money on bad investments and personal expenses. Joseph Signore and Paul L. Schumack II – SEC charged the operators of a South Florida-based Ponzi scheme targeting investors through YouTube videos and selling them investments in a product called virtual concierge machines (VCMs) that would purportedly generate guaranteed returns of 300 to 500 percent in four years.
*Canopy Financial* - SEC obtained an emergency asset freeze to halt a $75 million Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors in a private placement offering. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois brought parallel criminal actions against Canopy Financial's founders. Trevor Cook - SEC obtained an emergency asset freeze to halt a Ponzi scheme that raised $190 million from 1,000 investors through the unregistered sale of investments in a purported foreign currency trading venture. A judge later ordered Cook to be jailed for failing to comply with the asset freeze . The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota brought a parallel criminal action against Cook. Mantria Corporation - SEC obtained an emergency asset freeze against four individuals and two companies for perpetrating a $30 million Ponzi scheme that persuaded more than 300 investors nationwide to participate in purported environmentally-friendly investment opportunities.
When will our government wake up to this menace? Why can't Nigeria copy the US in dealing with this fraud? Should we wait until Nigeria/Nigerians are ruined by this unscrupulous business? Is the government really aware of the consequences of these schemes?
I really wish we could have a saner and organized system in Nigeria
God bless Nigeria
Data from: https://www.sec.gov/spotlight/enf-actions-ponzi.shtml The people u should direct ur attack on is not only the executive but also legislature. There should be laws made against such things so the security forces would have something to work with. But in Nigeria that's not the case |

chijiblaze: You can say so. But in the hypothetical situation that foreign powers invade this country to depose a sit-tight oppressive dictator from any one part of the country, say e.g. Buhari from the far North, do you really think Nigerians from the other ethnic groups / regions will rally to support him or would be less inclined to take advantage of the opportunity to actualize their own self determination aims? Sure its an idea, I give u that. But I believe the igbos are now too lax, too dogged in their ways and thinking that if such a situation presents itself they would not be the first group to rise up. Loosing that war robbed igbos their fighting spirit but not their pride. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Breaking News: ECOWAS Troops Given Go Ahead To Invade The Gambia by drnoel: 7:41pm On Jan 18, 2017 |
LordAdam7: No African nation would dare go to war with Nigeria if Buhari refuses to step down in 2019.
UK, France, and Germany would lead the onslaught after the US moves an Enterprise into the Atlantic. South Africa may send their frigates sha.
ECOWAS is doing show of strength because Gambia's army is less than 2000 man strong and they don't have the money to prosecute a long, bitter war. Nigeria is the exact opposite. You wouldn't just have to take out the sit-tight President, you'll also have to secure the region where the President is from, else the country will roll into a civil war.
Or do you think if the US/UK lead an onslaught to uninstall Buhari because he lost to a Southerner, that the basta.rds up not would not use that as an excuse to start a progrom on Southerners in the North. Clearly, the South would retaliate and na so civil war go start.
This is exactly why the US impressed on Jonathan to accept the results of the elections even before the elections and ask Abdusalami to broker a peace accord. Nigeria will become a Libya if the President dies or is forced to leave the seat by what appears to be an international intervention.
Even Ivory Coast was not resolved by ECOWAS. They were dragging their feet because South Africa was behind Laurent. The French intervention was so swift and decisive because as we all know, francophone countries in Africa are pretty much still French colonies.
By the way Buhari is not so daft that he would organize a free and fair election in 2019. Any incumbent in Africa that organizes a free and fair election should be prepared to vacate the presidency. If he isn't ready to vacate, he'd simply not organize a free and fair election. A bloody election is better than a disgraceful take-over.
Jammeh effed up by conducting a free and fair election if he truly wanted to retain power.

I just wonder if nigeria was to find itself at the receiving end of such an action. Would ECOWAS be so quick as to take such a bold step? If Buhari was to loose power come 2019, would he refuse to relinquish power and stay dogged to be forced out and probed or would he sit tight like other northerners before him had done. |
