Sad story and I have no experience to provide you with suggestions in this matter.

I can't imagine burning even N10. Yet a young man with no job burnt 70k. I can't imagine insulting my father.

Anger destroys people and it looks like it has been a problem from childhood. My boy told me of a classmate who kicked his sister in her stomach and whom corporal punishment from parents makes him do worse.

For me two steps - commit the matter into prayer and invite military police to deal with him.

He also needs to go and make a living for himself.

Thank goodness I didn't follow his advice. If you can afford to spend on your girlfriend please do so. If you can afford to do charity please do so.

What is the specific law that was broken? What does it say specifically? Have you seen it?

I wouldn't give a damn personally unless a specific law has been broken. These are consenting adults. The guy proposed and was clearly free to do so. Who knows if they were a couple before camp?

When is the refinery going to start working? I am not sure this information on this thread is correct. This is not the way recruitment is done. There is either some more information which isn't shown here or this is fake.

Bloody civilian? Lol. This is what happens when you have an army that is raised not to be a professional fighting force but rather a regime protection force.

The law that is guiding Nigeria Army is written by human being and it can be ammended.

The only books that cannot be ammended are Holy Qur'an and Bible.

Those who are pushing for the punishment of this lady are those who are eyeing her but she did not give them chance.

Can the DG of NYSC come out and tell us where he met his wife likewise those officer in Nigeria Army.

I am even waiting for people to state the law or rule that was broken. If they show that then for my side I have no comments. However all I have heard so far from people are words with no foundation.

These are adults not kids. I repeat let the Army bring out the rule that was broken. Once it is shown then I will be in full support including dishonourable discharge for the lady. However just produce the rule that was broken.

Nigerians are just too emotional. Every organization has its own rules and regulations. The corp member was supposed to be her trainee, getting involved in an amorous relationship with him is unethical. Perhaps, they could have kept it private till it's right time. Doing that inside the camp and also posting the video on internet is outrightly against the rule of the army.
My appeal to the army is, they should be lenient with her.

They should tell us the rule and regulations that was broken. Rules are not subjective.

It is also ethically allowed for the patient to propose a sexual relationship to the physician post treatment.

If this practice is applauded and allowed to thrive, then soon female corpers will be harassed by male soldiers and cases of sexual harassment will build. Lets call a spade a spade.

I seriously doubt the lack of progress in Nigeria is due to female soldiers accepting a romantic offer from a civilian. Rather I think the inability of Nigerian leadership structures to think and execute better solutions rather solidly sticking to punishment is one of the reasons we are here. For example, a company doesn't pay taxes on time. Rather than fine and allow the company to produce - we shut it down without considering that it might be in the nation's interest to keep the company running while deducting the fine from its income. In this case, the military should have milked the political propaganda out of this. I await the law which says a soldier on duty may not accept a civilian proposal of marriage.

We have a gift of refusing to think and understand intent of laws before applying punishment.

What I am against is school lack of oversight on such things. There should be a formalised process for such things. I am not against seniors punishing juniors where clear definition on the punishments are stated.

It is not wrong. The problem is definition of the punishment. It also depends on the school.

Schools are clear on this. Parents should read the rules of the schools. Some schools allow seniors to punish juniors. At times the school requests that seniors do so. I was in a school where SS3s were often requested to punish armed robbers as an SS3 student and there was clear definition.

This isn't bullying. Sending junior students on errands or punishing them for not doing their duties isn't bullying. That is life.

If it is not too late, sit down and ask yourself why the UBA woman's offer is interesting. Also think what would likely happen during and after the meeting.
