You seem to be confusing me

You are not supposed to proceed with your visa application and IHS without ensuring your POF is minimum 28days in your account.

My earlier response was on you submitting your application and uploading your documents on 3rd July for your biometrics on 4th July

Also you seem to be asking questions as to what the amount should be

In order to avoid confusion and been told I am misleading please clarify if you have already submitted your application before your POFs due date

If Yes then you might want to cancel that application and wait till all relevant documents especially your POF is ready


Keep an eye on the exchange rate also

You and your dependant can use seperate accounts for your POF


Please remember your POF is for you study and her maintenance in the UK.Any other arrangements is deceit and will lead to a 10years ban when caught

I've started my POF and I calculated my dependent which is my wifes' to my POF. But now that the rate has changed, the POF I'm doing for my remaining sch fees payment and my wife's maintenance fee plus mine won't tally again.

Can I just use the POF I had already started for my own then starts another POF for my wife separate... I ask one of my friend if I can do it that way to avoid redoing POF ?


Note: the POF I'm running has been calculated for my remaining sch fees and our maintenance fees and also I haven't gotten my CAS yet.. so I won't to use the same POF to apply for my CAS firstly.


Inshort... Can I use a separate POF for my wife's own

When did you submit your application and what was the exchange rate that day?

Once you check you should be able to confirm if it is okay


Please note and to everyone, you can't just top up your POF, it doesn't work that way


The evidence should be same amount from day 1 to day 28

If it isn't pay more tuition deposit to your Uni to balance out the difference due to exchange rate fluctuations

1. You need to find a way to get your immigration history in Canada or the agent you used to ascertain if you are/were banned or not

2. Did you declare your previous refusals with your Uni? If you did and they offered you an admission that's fine. If you didn't and anything goes wrong you are at risk of losing your deposit fee


That being said


1.Yes based on no 1 and 2 above

2. Declare and summarise to the best of your knowledge. ECOs know how to get more info if they need to

3. If you meet the criteria and your documents are authentic then you should be fine.

Student visa at the moment is still point based, therefore if you meet the points the tendency of getting your visa is high

Pls I'll like to be clarified on this:I got two offers for September start NTU and ulster university but my problem is;I was denied US visiting visa in 2014 and in 2018 I was refused Canada Study permit(the agent I used then failed to declare my US denial and they found out) that he didnt knw I had applied before.I have the US refusal letter but I dnt have that of Canada and I fear if they gave me a ban for misrepresentation.cos the agent used an email I dont have access to and as it stands,I have lost contact with him.My question now is,will it be okay to
(1)Proceed with my initial deposit payment and visa process?
(2)How do I proof my canadian denial since I dnt have any paper to show
(3) Do I have chances of getting this UK student visa?
Just asking all these 'cos I cant afford to gamble or risk visa denial again after the whole process with this little life savings I have.

You have not submitted your application yet so the current rate applies to you.

If you intend to submit and pay your visa and IHS fees on 19th then the ECO will use the exchange rate on the 19th or any other day you submit your application to assess your POF..

You may wish to consider paying more deposit to your Uni and requesting for an updated CAS or any other evidence to reflect the additional tuition paid so it balances out


This has been discussed in detail in other pages so I hope others with the same concern can read this action appropriately rather than repeating the same question

Due to floating of naira, rate gone up on the 16th to £625 and 18th till now £748.

I have statement printed from may 11th of may till 8th of june and used for CAS and account has #14,916,627 to #15,081,214. Rate as that period hasn't gone up extremely,it was #570 to #584 and me and my husband maintenance and school fees balance total £21,552.

I got CAS on the 15th of june. We both want to apply for visa on the 19th and with this recent high change in rate, has it not affected our matured POF that we have planned already and gotten CAS.

I was told to print another statement from 14th of may till 15th june to use to apply for visa.

Please advise properly what to do as i'm confused at the moment.

NB: We have started visa application already since 15th but only to make VISA and IHS payment on the 19th

When did you request for the correction? How long has it been?If it is more than 2weeks please chase up by contacting UKVI either via paid mail or paid calls.

I won't worry too much on the visa vignette as that will expire.When you arrive and receive the BRP with same error then try to correct it

If you have time you can request to correct it now but know it will cause more delays

Also, is it a problem if a spouse's initials are switched on a dependant's visa? Instead of A B Surname, it's B A Surname.

There are other countries with worse volatile currency fluctuations

Would you expect UKVI to bend policies for currency fluctuations for every country??


There are options of paying more deposit to your Uni's and/or paying for accommodation to help buffer the difference.


A straight answer to your question No. If the criteria for study visa application are met, and documents are genuine then the applicant's visa will be issued, if not then it will be refused.

The reference letter he used to gain admission was from his current work place where he’s been working for 7 years and that is the reference letter he submitted to ukvi. If you are asked say the truth. The restrictions in bringing dependant starts from January 2024. Until then you are still entitled to do so

I am dyslexic, there is no treatment for it..I can imagine how people have laughed at this situation

Good morning !

A friend of mine has a very big challenge in the Uk. He is on student visa unfortunately he was sick and diagnosed of dyslexia and stayed in the house and hospital for some months.

This whole period, the school was notified about his illness and they followed up. At the moment his is very fine but cannot continue because he is not financially buoyant and also his grades will be impacted and he told the school he would like his studies suspended but the condition of suspension of studies required he leaves the country.

He therefore needs advise on what to do as he is scared they might not give him visa if he applied again please make who na choke mouth for this matter.

If you haven't paid IHS then you haven't submitted your application

You can restart your application with a different email and abandon the current one

No it doesn't make sense

The requirements is the evidence of maintenance for 28days minimum.

Meaning when checked the required amount when converted using Oanda.
In Day 1 is same as figure in Day 28. (emphasis on required amount)

The rate on Oanda on the day of your application is the rate the ECO will refer to.


You shouldn't worry too much if you checked and it was okay the day you applied.

You will need to explain with evidence the reason you couldn't travel within that timeframe for example ill health

You will get a new CAS

You need details of the new CAS for your application,likely everything will remain the same just changes to the figures

The new CAS will reflect what has been paid for the ECO to assess

Also some Unis may not issue a new CAS and will update the current CAS automatically.if this is the case screenshot the email exchange confirming the CAS has been updated with the additional deposit and attach to your application

Your dependants can switch to a skilled worker visa, there is no problem with that. You can switch to a dependant visa while still on students visa but make sure you finish studies so you won't have problem with UK government.becos of the recent ban of 10years, but the good thing is that you can use that dependant visa to be working full time.
