First of all, noone took your fathers away, if they did, u'll be African American or sumn.

Secondly, you weren't even born yet during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. So u're not remembering nuffin apart from what you studied for your history test.

@fegflu
Anyways I still need to get this original argument
These Lower house people don't need to go to school becase they've got experience??
What experience?? Being election thugs for Chief Obafemi Awolowo for 20 years??

JJYOU:
sorry sir almost 50% of the mps in the house of commons never went to university. i read this in the guardian just last year.
Even though I have this nagging feeling that you're talking bout the House of Lords (Where the Church of England is heavily represented, even in that case most Bishops have qualifications in Theology), I still challenge you to name top politicians in the major parties that are not learned.

Eldee,
I dont need to study google for the word internship. it is u who need to study the UK job mkt u will find ur self after u finish that course of yours, and plann accordingly how u can position urself properly in it.
I've got job offers that I can't take because they'll stop me from going further

How can you say experience comes before education??
Maybe I should just drop out ASAP so I can go on to become Bill Gates grin grin
Politics › Re: Senators, Representatives And Academic Qualifications. by eldee(m): 2:30pm On Mar 06, 2009
Anyways . . . It's still funny how majority of people in the Lower House are illiterate
How then will they help to save the system especially the Universities??

fegflu:
Eldee knows wat am talkin about. Cus he is in london.

So its not about entry level Fhemmmmy
I live in the UK and I'm 100% sure that anyone that has a degree from a Top 15 university (not London Southbank and them ones) will get top-class work experience that will give him a choice of whether to stay in the field or move out.

If you blame it on the Recession, I can accept that, but experience . . . Hell to the bleeping NO!!!
Come on, the first experience of the workplace you get is in the university . . .

Fhemmmy:
Seems like the guy's mind is made up on why someone shd not go to school and just search for experience on the street, so let him/her be.
However, please, dont let anyone discourage you fron your dream, you are on the right path, and good luck
I'm in a professional field, it's impossible for me to change my mind
Politics › Re: Senators, Representatives And Academic Qualifications. by eldee(m): 2:13pm On Mar 06, 2009
Fhemmmy:
u kidding me? so because the dude aint working in his field of study means, education is over-rated? I cant blv this, education is a gift that no one can take from you, education teaches you how to learn what life has got to teach you, and education doesn't end at the walls of the classrooms.
For goodness sake, please explain interships and work experience to your friend
Education in the UK is only 50% in the classroom, bout 30% internship and the rest extra-curricular

Almost every UK politician has one time or the other headed a club or social group in university
That's part of education too . . .
My Lawd!!! could you please help me explain that to fegflu??

Besides, why will they accept them when they go or customer-facing roles with half-baked anglais and exposed timidity??

fegflu:
I can guarantee u-Wat ever sch u r at d moment. Immediately u finish.if u dont hav experience in anyfield- u cannever get a job any where in dat london with dat qualification.

Eldee,
Wat can of job are u doin in london?
is it related 2 ur paper qualification?

lets start from there first.
Hehehe . . . Going personal?? I saw that coming cheesy cheesy

Anyways, I'm a student . . . the reason why I swapped after two years in one of Nigeria's best unis is so that I can get a degree that won't be totally overshadowed by that of an Oxford Graduate.

The reason why I know I've got almost half a decade of education to pursue is so that the Education/Qualifications section of my CV will scream loudly before I send it in.
Anyone can write 'I am a purposeful, charismatic goal-getter' on his CV
But any stupid CEO knows that anyone with a Masters' degree from Durham has proven that he has at least tried to achieve a real goal.

What? You think you'll beat a Harvard Business graduate to any position if you don't have a good degree??
Are you just being funny or what?? This is what happens then y'all go screaming 'racism'.

Anyways . . . As I was saying, you can say education is not useful in Nigeria, it's your choice . . . but don't spew fuckery bout the UK
C'mon Boris Johnson: Oxford (Proven) . . . Bola Tinubu: 'Toronto' (Hmmmn)

Outstrip,
U ar in d States right? my arguement is this-
What i am saying is that Nigerians believe so much on paper qualification . They c it as a criteria to get everything beautiful that the society can offer. It is wrong. The people who introduce the academi curriculim we use today dont c it that way- and i will say it again -IN BRITAIN-were i liv, QUALIFICATION WITHOUT EXPERIENCE is as good as u never had the qualification in the first place- cus that iswat d system will reduce u to here.
On the otherhand- Go to all American business schools today,MOST of the students there are not Americans( majority of them are foreigners-africans , indians, asians, arabs), it is that way also in england. They KEEP manipulating the media on how highly regarded the qualifications from these schs are- but there citizens dont attend them. Have u ever ask your self the question why. But yet these same citizens runs wall street, runs hollywoods, manage all those blockbusters movies on Tv. You think steven spieberg hav a PHD.

What the world needs today is originality. Once people c that in you they will embrace u. And that is what has produced the likes of carlos slim, gates,Mittal, in the music industry-jayz,nice,tuface, in politics Obama(not his education- he was original) etc.

Whilst a considerable level of education in life is important- it is not a guarantee that you must achieve the best from the world. If we as nigerians continue to think like that we will never achieve much.
You need to learn to think outside the box, especially if the box is Peckham and Hackney.
What the eff are you saying??
How can you come here and compare real jobs to those bank-staff (cashier) jobs y'all are goin for??

Do you know how many Oxford and Cambridge graduates are in the House of Lords??
Do you even know what Eton is??

BTW . . . Bill Gates and Obama were Harvard students
Tony Blair and David Cameron are Oxford Graduates

Nigeria's Former President . . . National Open University cheesy grin

So the germans, spanish, french, russians don't go to school abi?
This is simply because they're not that exposed to 'normal' (educated and middle-class) black people
This is the exposure bit of it.

If all the black people you've seen in your life are farmers, you tend to form the stereotype that no black man can thrive at any other thing.
AND NO!!! The french are not racist.

afam4eva:
Did they just start getiing educated?
Are you trying to take the piss??
Have you not heard of the Civil Rights Movement??
Aight let me school you, since the 1960s, various groups have been championing a cause for the end to racism
This opposed the hegemonic belief that black people were intellectually inferior to the white people
This, coupled with various scientific researches since the 70s has created a value concensus that makes people see the need to be politically correct.

So no, education didn't start yesterday, the value concensus is what just started.

First of all I DON'T HATE MODENINE.
I respect what he's done for Nigerian Hiphop in the past.
But does that mean I should ignore blatant facts??

I was disputing the argument sumone made bout him being mature and him doing his own thing before Rugged came to disturb.

Fact is, when you do a song thrice, it's acceptable.
But diss songs are not just everyday songs, they're meant to hit once and c'est finis.

And what has education got to do with being liberal or detribalized.White people with all their education how many of them have changed. I think what matters is growing up.
Education with exposure has a lot to do with it.
If you don't lose tribalistic tendencies after years of being taught by the educational system's side-curriculum to be liberal, that shows how ethoncentric you are.

Bout the white pple, you have to agree with me that at least in the UK and the US, Racism is not as cool as it used to be before.
Blatant sexism and racism are considered signs of ignorance.

Politics › Re: What Tribe Will You Consider Most Liberal And Detribalized? Give Your Reasons by eldee(m): 9:34am On Mar 04, 2009
IMO, most Yoruba pple let go of tribalistic tendencies with education.
They seen to be the only group of people that have let inter-ethnic marriage work for them.

If we're going to be specific, Yoruba pple from Lagos tend to accept pple from different cultures simply because they basically grew up around them.

And Igbo pple are definitely the most ethoncentric lot I've ever met.
Even education does not stop an Igbo man from saying things like 'he has to avoid Delta Igbos'

A commentator shouted out exactly those words after Andy Cole scored a stunner.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Favourite Quotes From Football Commentators by eldee(op): 11:33am On Mar 01, 2009
The two strangest things I ever heard from commentators . . . Both in one week.

'He's got the pace, he's got the strength, he's athletic. . . he just lacks the natural TOUCH of a footballer!!!'

Sky commentator after Eboue missed that begging chance on Tuesday.

'It's Nasri, he's going to shoot!!! Oh no . . . It's Arsenal!!!'
That pretty much sums up Arsenal's season.

Are there any other funny/crazy or just out-of-this-world commentaries you've heard. Post them in honour of these wonderful people that have used their words to increase and slow down our heartrate whenever they feel like. (I'm talking of the commentators, not Arsenal)

Aight, let's see, KRS-One. Had this thing with Nelly.

He even went on to do a collabo with one of his longtime rivals.
Why?? Cus pple grow up.
