Cheering news !, i hope it is true oooo |
Billyonaire: The duty of that Marathoner was not to give water to the thirsty competitor! There are other people vested with the responsibility of sharing water. She faltered on her focus and sacrifice her Goal and Gold for compassion. She lost focus and reacted to emotion, it is the core reason Africa is backward today, cos we apply emotions than foresight. I stand by my assertion, that the Kenyan marathoner lost focus, and lost her goal.Unfortunately, i agree with this fake billyonaire. If it is true that she came second because she helped the man, then she goofed. The situation of the physically challenged guy was not life threatening, and the guy could have gotten help from the bystanders along the runway. I call what she did playing to the gallery, the motive is wrong, but the cause is worthy. Although many philanthropists also play to the gallery. |
That is a federal road, the FG should be the one fixing that road, but as usual, the FG is missing in action. At the moment, the FG has also failed to pay the LASG 51 billion naira, it currently owes her. At least we see what lagos state does with the 30bn montly revenue, construction works all over , debt servicing e.t.c |
Chomzy19: yes I agree the man's contribution as regard chores is secondary but the POINT is that there must be CONTRIBUTION not discretionary helpYes, discretionary help is a CONTRIBUTION. Even in a team work of football, we have the strikers, midfielders and defenders (different roles). The striker can on his own discretion fall back to defend, not compulsory he does that. |
PrettySpicey: when I first read ds i just had a problem with No2 but now am beginning to have a problem with YOUR MINDSET.you are not getting his point, what he meant is that most chores are PRIMARILY the duty of the wife. Whatever the man contributes as regards house chores is SECONDARY. |
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio , is seeking an additional loan of N80bn after the N50bn he collected in February when he paid a courtesy visit to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. A reliable source in the AKHA, who was not happy with the development, said the House was appalled by the letter seeking approval for an additional loan. He stated that the state government collects over N30bn a month from the Federation Account, yet the ministries are starved of funds. He said, “The former loan of N50bn the governor collected in February when he paid a courtesy visit to the House of Assembly had been wasted unjustifiably. “We have over N30bn a month from the Federation Account; yet he collected N50bn and spent it lavishly outside the state.” Against the assertion by the governor that the House had provided N10bn for wastage, the source retorted that the House has never provided any money to be wasted on frivolity. “That was wrong information. The House has never appropriated any money for him to waste, not to talk about N10bn as he said. “Every ministry is complaining of starvation; Akpabio is not giving them money to run the affairs of the ministries. “The money he refused to release to the ministries is the one he is using to lavish on people outside the state,” he said. He averred that it was too early for the governor to start seeking loans from the first quarter of the year. He noted that the development portrays the state as not doing well. In January 14, 2013 the governor assented to an appropriation bill of N470.08bn as passed by the state House of Assembly for the year. http://www.punchng.com/news/akpabio-seeks-n80bn-additional-loan/ |
The abducted Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, was late last night released by his captors. Although the circumstances of his release were sketchy family sources confirmed his release. Earlier in the day when news of his release hit the airwaves, relations, friends, associates and well-wishers gathered in his home with the social media re-cycling the news of the release. In no time, handsets came alive with callers passing on the ‘news’. It took only a few hours for the 24, Eni iwa Mimo Street, Ejigbo, Lagos residence of the Bamigbetans to begin to feel the impact: sympathisers had descended there in their hundreds to come and share in the joy of the release. They danced, sang and exchanged joyful banters, while they awaited for Bamigbetan to show up. However, when contacted the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Police Command, Damasus Ozoani, said the Command was not aware of the release. Inside the house itself, the mood was boisterous, a sharp contrast to the gloom which had pervaded the entire household since the abduction. As new visitors arrived, they exchanged congratulatory messages with those already there and some prayed that Bamigbetan would arrive home safely. By mid-day, the abducted chairman was nowhere to be seen. Yet some of the sympathisers insisted he was on his way home. Soon, the high hope began to thin out. And so was the crowd, leaving only family members and personal aides. Now, it was clear it had all been a hoax. The Information Officer of Ejigbo LCDA, Rabiu Hassan, who had been quoted by a social media as having confirmed Bamigbetan’s freedom said: “I heard like everyone else that he had been released and that he was on his way home. But he has not called me and I have not seen him that is all I can say.” Some party faithful who remained till late evening said they believed the chairman had been released and were prepared to wait for his return to the house. His wife, Fatimo, had to switch off her handset following a barrage of calls from those who wanted to confirm her husband’s release. At about 6:30 pm, a lorry was driven into the compound to offload canopies and chairs apparently in anticipation of celebration of his freedom. His driver who was with him at the time of the abduction, Abiodun Olayiwola said he also is in high spirits to welcome his boss. “I want my boss home, I want him back home alive, I am eagerly waiting for him to come back home.” Bamigbetan was abducted on Monday 15th April, 2013 at about 11:30 pm while returning to his Ejigbo home. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/kidnapped-ejigbo-lcda-boss-bamigbetan-regains-freedom/ |
President Goodluck Jonathan has a date with Southwest traditional rulers tomorrow. Twenty-three obas are due to attend the meeting, an initiative of the President, at the Aso Rock Villa. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, will lead the traditional rulers, sources said last night. “The obas are going to Abuja at the invitation of the President. He has been reaching out to the traditional institution in Yorubaland for a while now. The meeting is as a result of his incessant rapport with the leadership of the obas in the region. “He wants the obas to help him reach out to the political elite in the region ahead of the 2015 general election. On many occasions, his emissaries have told our traditional rulers of the President’s desire to have them on his side as he prepares to battle the opposition in 2015, especially in the Southwest which is an opposition stronghold.” It was gathered that the Ooni personally handled the invitation of the obas for the meeting. A few top obas had allegedly held several meeting with the President before now to discuss the viability of Jonathan’s 2015 presidential ambition especially as it concerns voters in the Southwest. It was gathered that following extensive discussions, it was agreed that a larger contingent of traditional rulers from the region should meet with the president with a view to hearing from him directly on his aspiration and plan for the geo-political zone. The idea is that the visit will avail them of information to pass on to their subjects on the return from Abuja. Sources said: “It is no longer news that Jonathan wants to win the Southwest at all cost. This meeting is one of the ways he wants to penetrate the region and he intends to use the traditional rulers to achieve his desire. “The number of traditional rulers invited by the organisers for the trip was in excess of the 23 that agreed to go to Abuja tomorrow. Many of the obas contacted declined to be part of the team. “Many of the obas invited from Osun State turned down the invitation after considering their relationship with the governor of the state. One of the traditional rulers declined to be part of the trip. He will be on his way out of the country tomorrow as a decoy.” It was also gathered that the organisers of the trip plan to explain it away as part of the effort to find an enduring solution to the current security challenges in the country. An activist and leader of the Yoruba Renaissance Movement (YRM) Dr. Seeni Olaforiju, dismissed the planned meeting as a big disappointment. His words:”There is no doubt that these traditional rulers are going to Abuja on their own accord. They surely do not have the mandate of their people to go and discuss politics with Jonathan. “If they think they can help the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to penetrate the Southwest, then they are joking because they will fail. Yoruba are no fools and they know their leaders. Jonathan and the obas are just wasting their time. “What has Jonathan done for the Southwest since he came on board? This is a man we supported when some forces wanted to prevent him from succeeding his late boss. What we got as a people is nothing but acute marginalisation, disregard and disrespect at the end of the day. Now he wants to use traditional rulers to hoodwink us. “The fear of the merging political party is leading Jonathan to seek help where he will not find any. As much as we respect the traditional institution in Yorubaland, we also know how to say no to those who may want to lead us astray. The obas can go to Abuja and enter into whatever agreement they like, we will be waiting for them in 2015.” http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/2015-jonathan-in-secret-meeting-with-ooni-22-yoruba-obas-2/ |
Eko Atlantic: [size=15pt] SACRIFICING THE PARTY TO SAVE NIGERIAI am happy about the part in red My biggest fear for any country , ONE PARTY STATE. I will always prefer the opposition parties winning, until the war chest of the leading and opposition parties are about the same. Performance will be an instrument of competition between/among political parties only if they have similar war chests. |
smartchoice: FREE ME ABEGI O! FIRST HAND REPORTS FROM ONDO STATE ARE JUST THE OPPOSITE OF MY THOTS AND EARLIER STATEMENTWell, you can not make a smart choice, using emotions like a market woman, what will make you different from a market woman is your clarity of thoughts using facts and figures well analysed by you. A much better way to assess the performance of a governor or administrator is the holistic approach in looking at what he has achieved so far in relation to what (s)he had to do his/her work. |
When you come back from your next offshore trip, appear so happy with yourself and partially ignore her, play well with your son, take him out and ....., let the happiness flow and study her reaction gently..... She is using the tantrums to control you. Stay happy when at home , whether na form or na real ...... , if she is not infected with the happiness you exude after a matter of days, you married a wrong woman, but if there is a change of countenance, tell her in the day, you have something to tell her later in the mid-night..... let out your disappointments to her in the mid-night, do not threaten her with a divorce oooooo |
smartchoice: REASONS PLS?Let me help u out. Coz, i believe there is more propaganda with Ondo state achievements. Ondo state is at least 4 times richer than its neigbouring ekiti state, confirm that! The current ondo state governor has spent 4 years +, the current ekiti gov has spent 2 years +. I want to believe you are smart, if you look deeply, you will see that the difference is clear. Why one is making noise about tens of mega schools, wlth just few delivered, the other has delivered 100 schools. |
It is amazing how irrational an intelligent man can be, when he allows his emotions to do the thinking. Until PDP fails at the centre, many will not realise how shortchanged we are by the PDP. |
Nicepoker: Tripple divorce cuming ur way soonWatch what you say, else, you might be laying a curse on yourself ![]() |
But, where is the common sense in FG awarding the road reconstruction contract in 2010, did nothing and coming back in 2013 to do gra-gra ? |
thelastPope: It is sad to see the kind of hate and pull him down propaganda these ACN foools try to push. It won get them anywhere eventually. To the bolded, should a government not be proactive ? If a government waits to be reactive to every issue, then it is the hallmark of incompetency. The govt needed channels tv to show it the rot in the police college, before it responded, what annoyed me most was Jonathan look stunned about the rot, how long will the reactive fuckery to issues continue ? |
No biggie, it is purely business, it is not illegal. |
UPN ? i dont see them causing panic in ACN, they dont have the political juggernauts to do that, the AWO sentiments has also withered considerably over the years, this is not 1999 elections ! |

"An assessment of reports in Nigeria media prove one major point: namely, that we have serious problems in this country, that we are a people witHout standards, values, beyond shame, we live in a society where anything is possible, we worship persons, we place them above the rule of law, anything can be rationalised, Nigerians can hold a position today and shift to the other side tomorrow and still argue with great passion, and there is never a shortage of opportunists, in and out of the corridors of power"-REUBEN ABATI, OCTOBER 2005 The genuine ones are few, very few,..... I cant be fooled by words, Actions speak louder.... |
@ OP, the issue of tribalism on nairaland is analogous to that of bokoharam in Northern nigeria. It was not nipped in the bud, when it should have been done years ago, fighting it now will require more tact than aggression. I will suggest you try to collate the monikers of "kingpins" of tribalism of nairaland and relate with them privately via PM's, an appeal calling for truce or amnesty, it is also not easy changing a bad habit, you might give them a 7 day countdown or whatever days to end tribalism on nairaland. |
positive peer pressure. |
tbaba1234: DisadvantagesThanks for this info, the op failed to answer my question on the first page, that you have done. |
Barcholder: Absolutely right. Make no mistake, that day is coming very soon. As a UK based Nigerian, I can attest to the effect of privatisation of the national grid. Get ready for the doubling of grid electricity prices every 5 to 7 years. It won't be too long before PHCN is charging you 70 naira per kWh, now that Jonathan has given the green light for privatisation. What are the limitations of using solar powered technology? |
Afam4eva: How do you determine who's more intelligent between someone who's very good in speaking English and another person who's very good in Solving maths. But both of them are just average in the other subjects. If you are good in solving maths, then you are most likely intelligent, i can't say the same for someone who is good in speaking english. English is simply a language of communication, like all other languages. Let me ask you this also, "How do you determine who's more intelligent between someone who's very good in speaking Igbo and another person who's very good in Solving maths ? Both of them are just average in the other subjects." |
There has to be a new focus on safer means of transporting petroleum products, instead of through the highways. |
^^^, you did not bother to read the article, you said what you think is the case. Read again, it is stated in the article as 3rd quarter in 2016. |
This news is two years old ! A stale report that might not reflect the current situation. |
Afam4eva: Did you know Fashola, FAyemi and Ajimobi before they became governor? Did they win because they had a name politically or because Tinubu used his influence? Pls don't mention Oshiomole again because he won his first term on the platform of Labour party and he won because he was Osho baba and not because of his party.Oshiomole did not win his first term on the platform of labour party, stop spewing ignorant things. He was the gubernatorial candidate of labour party, but switched to ACN before the elections. |
