Foreign Affairs › Re: Meet Zulu King Godwill Zwelithi Whose Remarks Launched The Xenophobic Attacks by Emmahunk(m): 6:50pm On Apr 18, 2015 |
[quote author=ikelvin post=32853909]Zulu King Godwill Zwelithi's utterances on March 23rd launched the Zenophobic attacks in South Africa and he had refused to apologize, even after finding out that his people have maimed, killed and destroyed businesses belonging to black foreigners. He's still insisting that foreigners should go back to their countries but tried to save face by saying attacking the foreigners is not how to chase them away. He wants the government to do it legally. During a speech last month, Zwelithini called for the deportation of foreign nationals living in the country, saying it was unacceptable locals were being made to compete with people from other countries for the few economic opportunities they had available. King Zwelithi said "foreigners must pack their bags and go home". His three major complaints and why he wanted foreigners to go were; 1. SA traders in the townships said they could not compete with the prices that foreign-owned businesses were selling their products. 2; foreigners involved in crime. 3. Lack of respect shown by foreigners to locals. Addressing Pongolo community members during a moral regeneration event, Zwelithini accused government of failing to protect locals from the “influx of foreign nationals”. He said; “Most government leaders do not want to speak out on this matter because they are scared of losing votes. As the king of the Zulu nation, I cannot tolerate a situation where we are being led by leaders with no views whatsoever. “We are requesting those who come from outside to please go back to their countries. The fact that there were countries that played a role in the country’s struggle for liberation should not be used as an excuse to create a situation where foreigners are allowed to inconvenience locals. I know you were in their countries during the struggle for liberation. But the fact of the matter is you did not set up businesses in their countries." His comments were widely condemned with the SA DA describing it “highly irresponsible' 'Particularly given the recent spate of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, he should do the right thing – retract and apologise,” He didn't and his spokesman went on record to say the King had nothing to apologize for, that he meant every word he said. “I think the people who’re complaining are misinterpreting his speech. He didn’t say foreigners must be attacked or harassed. The king was talking about foreigners who are here illegally. Some are involved in serious crimes like drug and human trafficking. We don’t need such people in our country so the king is right.” His spokesman said After the killing spread across different cities, the king has relented a little and is planning to speak to his people this Monday in an effort to quell the attacks. He's expected to address the public directly and clarify his statement and ask his people to stop the violence which his words started.. http://lindaikeji..com/2015/04/meet-south-african-king-whose-remarks.html?m=1[/quote When men in authority ridicule their positions and their personality they should be treated like foot mats. I thank God that the unguarded utterances of the Oba of Lagos concerning the Igbos did not degenerate to the mayhem being witnessed in South Africa today |

umunaija: Passengers on a Bus Rapid Transit going to the CMS area of Lagos on Wednesday were forced to become emergency midwives and labour attendants when a pregnant woman was delivered of a bouncing baby boy inside the bus.
According to reports, the woman identified simply as Afolaranmi, was going to a private hospital in CMS for a medical checkup, when her labour suddenly started. Fortunately, some medical workers in the bus immediately organised other passengers and helped in delivering the baby at about 12pm, around the Constain bus stop.
After the delivery, the mother and the new baby were taken to a private hospital.
A passenger on the bus, who gave his name as Shodipo told PUNCH Metro that both the woman and the baby seemed to be fine. He said:
“It was a very interesting experience. To my novice eye, the woman and the baby were both fine as of the time I left the bus.”

Someone said real devotees of the water deities wouldn't call themselves "mami water people" but according to these 3 ladies pictured above, they really are mami water people. Practicing Christians should remember that when Satan was thrown out of Heaven, not even one of his powers was taken from him hence the Biblical saying that" we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers... and spiritual wickedness in high places " Believe it or not they exist but what beats my imagination is why members of mammy water that has been known to lure people with promises of making them wealthy should be begging for donations. Octaves: I heard my brother got a job at a maintenance firm in PH. I came back for Easter and on sunday after attending holy saturday vigil mass (we are catholics), and that morning, he dressed up for service at some other church.
I asked why he was going there, and he started explaining that it was part of the job he took- the employer's wife is the owner of the church and the man makes it compulsory for every one of his employees to attend else a certain amount will be deducted from your salary. If you don't come during weekdays to cut grass and do clean-up, money will also be deducted.
I fail to understand how a human (somebody that calls himself a man of God) would violate people's freedom of religion like that all in the name of job.
The most annoying part is that he forces them to receive communion. That is particularly worrying because you don't know what really you are receiving especially since there is tattle that the man could be an Ogboni man.
The money being deducted ranges from about 5000 to 15,000 and their salary is about N50,000. If there is any donation in the church, the man deducts it from your salary. So I need advice. "For in the presence of God, there is fullness of joy " What joy is a job where you are in bondage? Abraham and Sarah planned for God and Ishmael was the result! Since Ishmael came, the world has not known peace. If only they had waited for Isaac to come at God's own time. Your brother has no business being in that slavery of employment. slowice: One can't underestimate the benefit of getting married to a born again girl. The spiritual support she'll give her husband and family is priceless, but sometimes I kinda wonder if her very spiritual side won't end up creating less affection and make the marriage less fun(romance-less) in the long run.
Which could be part of reason why guys are not very comfortable with marrying born again girls...
Your thoughts will be very much appreciated. Wonderful question. The answer is so simple. Yes she will be more romantic than you can imagine because the bible has taught her ; That her body belongs to her husband That adultery is sin hence it's you and her all the way That at no time should she refuse you (her husband). Even when she is waiting on the Lord, it must be an agreement between you two. That you are her head and king just like Christ is the head of the church Being married to a born again is a wonderful experience but you should help her by not being a disappointment in bed so as not to frustrate her. It can equally be rewarding for the Bible says " an unbelieving husband is sanctified by a believing wife and the children thereof are blessed" Summarily, getting married to a born again Christian is gainful all the way. |

All it would have taken would have simply been, " Igbos, you are all my children and I am so sorry that you misunderstood me". Rapmoney: I often wonder where Nigerian youths copied this nonsense from because even students in universities in America, Asia and Europe do not engage in this trashy act as we do over here!!! Yet, we still call them agents of immorality?
I just feel, deep within my heart, that girls who cohabit or cohabited in the university do not desrve any dime as bride price paid on them! They should just follow their would-be husband to his house, free of charge and continue where they stopped in school!
A girl cohabits with a guy for 4 to 5 years in school; this means the dude would bleep her through out those years (free of charge o!), she would perform wifely duties for him...cooking, cleaning, washing, providing emotional wifely support, etc (free of charge too o!). Now, what's still left in such a body? If she can bleep a dude for years without any dime paid on her, coupled with the numerous wifely duties, then what's the need of paying a dime on her as diary or bride price? If that bloke that bleeped her for years didn't pay a dime on her where families would meet, eat and drink and pray, why should I pay a dime on her head? Worse of it is that this dude enjoyed all what he enjoyed free of charge! Now, why should I be requested to pay for same? Common, that's not fair! What's sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander!!!
From Delsu to Lasu, from Uniben to OOU, from Uniport to Unical, from UniAbuja to Esut...it is the same story! Any girl who cohabits with a dude in school who has never paid a dime on her has lost her feminine value! She doesn't deserve anything paid on her!!! Clap! Clap!! But don't you think the guy deserves to face firing squad if the girl is so worthless not to attract a dowry. Here was a guy who out of his parents sweat was taking care of girl he claims to be '' bleeping '' He provided protection for her yet stupidly thinks he was having her for free He was at hand to clear her mess whenever and wherever yet you believe she was so cheap because she cohabited. Cohabitation does not in anyway make the woman of less value than the man. Mtchewww |

But 2 years after, I met this pretty and well behaved lady, and I fell in love with her. She was too pretty to resist. We had sex at least twice in a day for more than 3 years because we virtually stay together. During those period, I noticed things changed negatively.
Academics, business, spiritual, moral aspect of my life crashed. And up till today, I can't do anything right. And before I met this girl, everything was fine. Please I need help. grandlexuz: I have lived in Cameroon all my life and though I like it here I have always admired the potential of big success in a country as populous as Nigeria. At such for some time now I have been looking at the possibility of settling in Nigeria to do business.
At the moment I sell Tokunbo vehicles in Cameroon's economic capital of 3 million people. The business is a little slow considering the high custom duty rate in Cameroon. A vehicle that will otherwise sell in Nigeria for 2 million Naira would sell for 3.5 million Naira in Cameroon.
That said I think a new environment away from home always encourages productivity. Douala has a large Nigerian population doing well in business; and I think the motivation for most of these guys is the away from home syndrome..Lol
I am considering Lagos as the most likely place to move to because of the population and security of some sort.. I know Lagos is not the safest of places but it is safer than Katsina..Lol I plan to move on my Cameroonian passport.
Coincidentally my Surname is Obi which means I could be taken for an Igbo guy.. However I am 100% Cameroonian from the Ejagham tribe...Lol We do have some name similarities with some tribes in Nigeria.
The advice I am looking for is:
How lucrative is the second hand car business in Lagos? I am also open to other lucrative businesses.
As a Cameroonian do I need a residential permit to live in Nigeria? How much does it cost?
How much can I expect to get a clean apartment? I am married with two kids but will not be relocating with them. Hopefully onila can take care of me while I am in Nigeria..Lol I sincerely do hope you will find my advice helpful even when I cannot help with feasibility studies of how lucrative second hand cars are over here.Am susure other Nairalanders can handle that. Firstly, it's unfortunate that Cameroun is not an Ecowas member Nation hence in principle, the provisions of Phase one and two of Ecowas Protocol on movement of Citizens and establishment of business does not apply to it's citizens. However, all you need to emigrate into Nigeria are basically simple. First, you must have a valid Camerounian passport. Secondly you must come in through a recognized entry point (border) and have your passport duely endorsed with the seen on arrival stamp Thirdly, you must report your presence in the Country to the nearest Immigration Office. You must also have sufficient proof that you are not going to be a public charge by showing proof of means of livelihood. And oh yes, you need a residence permit. May I finally thank you for your interest in our Country. To say the least, Nigerians are hospitable and contrary to what you read on the pages of newspapers, this is a Country that is fast turning into an investors haven. See you around soon |

Business › Re: CBN To Publish Names Of Bank Debtors by Emmahunk(m): 8:37am On Apr 10, 2015 |
Adesiji77: In an effort to forestall another build up of non-performing loans (NPLs) in the banking industry, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and deposit money banks (DMBs) in the country yesterday disclosed plans to publish the names of new bank debtors.
In addition, the central bank said it might be compelled to stop such loan defaulters from accessing FOREIGN EXCHANGE through the interbank FOREIGN EXCHANGE market.
The Director, Banking Supervision, CBN, Mrs. Tokunbo Martins, who disclosed this while briefing journalists at the end of the 321st Bankers' Committee meeting in Lagos, said the names of those she described as “chronic debtors” would be published alongside the companies they represent, their directors, subsidiaries and other associates.
Martins who declined to give a specific date or period when the names would be published as well as the total amount owed by the debtors, said banks are currently compiling the names.
She said that the decision was aimed at preventing another banking crisis. The central bank director explained: “The CBN has managed to keep the banking industry safe and sound in collaboration with all members of the Bankers’ Committee.
“But some data shows that it is increasingly becoming difficult for some debtors to pay up their loans. So it was decided that going forward, one thing that we may do is to stop them from getting access to foreign exchange.
“Another thing that we also considered going forward is to publish the names of the borrowers that refuse to pay up. This is to ensure the continuous safety and soundness of the banking industry.
“It is not all debtors, it is the bad and chronic debtors, those ones that have deliberately refused to pay, those are the ones we are talking about.” Martins, who put the current banking industry’s NPLs at 3.3 per cent, maintained that the central bank wants to ensure that the figure does not exceed the five per cent limit.
“Total loans in the industry are in the region of N13 trillion. Right now, we have not reached the upper limit of five per cent on NPLs, but we don't want to get there. That was why we decided that we need to come out with this measure. “It is not only the names of the bad debtors, the directors, the subsidiaries and every member of the board that would have their names published,” she added.
Responding to a question on what would happen if a debtor or his firm decides to source FOR FOREX from other market sources, the central bank director said: “There is no way we can stop the bank debtors from purchasing forex at the parallel market, but that will come to them at a cost because it is more expensive there. What we are more concerned with is the official market.
“You recall how much was spent by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to clear up toxic loans and so we just want to make sure we are proactive and that we don't go back to a situation like that.
“There was a time we had NPLs at 2.5 per cent and 3 per cent, 3.3 per cent and so it is important that we take action now and not wait till it is too late.”
Also speaking at the media briefing, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Emeka Emuwa revealed plans by banks to reduce the limit on the usage of naira debit cards abroad.
Emuwa said the committee took the decision because of some cases of card abuse abroad, which he stressed was also a threat to EXCHANGE RATE stability.
The limit currently is $150,000 per annum, but this would come down to a more practical level, he said, adding: “Whether you are using your card domestically or internationally, will not be affected.”
The Union Bank boss explained: “We did find that in a number of cases people were using the cards in a manner that they were not expected to use them and there have been cases of arbitrage. So in order to sustain stability, what was agreed by the committee was that the limit for the use of the naira debit cards would be reduced.
“As a customer, if you have a dollar account, you will still have unfettered access to it, but for naira debit accounts, the limit would be reduced to a more judicious level.
“This specifically refers to the use of these cards abroad because when they are used abroad, the merchants have to be settled.
