@ Honeydenz, your original post is true and not far from reality. Most of what you said is one of the reasons I advocate for quality over quantity, when it comes to starting a family.

The fewer the better, quality over quantity, are recipes for success when it comes to responsible parenting and helping your offspring succeed in life. There is no gain or benefit in having many children you cannot cater for, only pain and suffer head awaits all parties involved.

Even if you are stinkingly rich, quality over quantity is still a good policy to live by as you birth children. Don't proceed to birth a football team or half the team because you have the means, this is one way we end up with sadistic deviants in society. Because someone refused to stop after their 3rd child, the 4th, 5th or 6th child turns out to be a real nightmare to a community at large and not only the parents.

Awww....go tell that to the Alimanjiri boys who never were taught beyond eating a square meal. The poor children were left to cater for themselves as soon as they learnt to walk! You really need to spend a few hours with them to understand their doomed struggle. The last time I was at Jigawa, I went out to buy akara and couldn't eat at all. Those almanjiri toddlers were huddled against one another in the early morning cold hoping for food. My heart had not been that broken in a long long time! By the way, they were really just toddlers o. These kids mostly grow up to be farm hands, "dandoko", street shoe makers, bokoaram, etc

Or go tell that to the children in the innermost core of villages where they never learnt beyond substitent farming. They mostly grow to inherit whatever is left and pass same on to their children. Otherwise, yours and my village will be empty by now....

Or even enter makoko abi na maroko inside Lagos slum where the children were doomed from birth. One family with 8 children they can not afford to give basic physiological needs let alone formal or informal education towards survival! They are the ones that eventually replace the agberos, touts, blue collar lowly workers, your gate keepers and household staff, etc. Their birth somehow force them into that strata forever.

By the way, I used to work at big events and I've seen first hand how the rich connect themselves. Do not be deceived just because you made it out of the chain, besides, you even still had it good. At least, you were exposed to a formal or informal education to aid your survival, a lot of others werent that lucky.

The kids in these families have strict parents that they look up to, obey, and respect greatly. Another trait that is linked to these families is experiencing hardship for many years followed by good economic conditions.

I have already planned a personal vacation outside Nigeria next year. South Africa or Kenya is on my mind. I have already identified places to visit and chill for two weeks.

Hello guys. I am currently in Benin republic. I came over here last year, around August. I am into teaching work here. Life here is easier than in Nigeria. Most Nigerians here are Igbo people doing business. BTW, I am Igbo myself.
Over here there is steady light, Steady water supply, the streets are well paved and with street light. Security is Good, You can literally walk around by any time of the night you choose without fear of being robbed or anything whatsoever. I am not in Cotonou or Porto Novo, i am in a city called Bohicon and I must mention that i got the work before i came over here.

If yes, then it's true. You're right. There is this false notion that when someone is suffering, it's not their fault. That he is suffering because his brother didn't help him, or his father is a drunkard.

In many cases, lots of people are suffering due to their own fault. I know many idiots like that. I am a very empathetic person and hate seeing people suffer, which made me became a magnet for lots of people who need help.

Over the years, I've come to accept the harsh fact that some people are like stone, even if they believe they are seeds. Doesn't matter if you expose them to the brightest sun, freshwater, manure and the most fertile ground, they are loosers. They won't grow.

If you help them up, then you must keep being the foundation so they will keep staying up. If you leave, they disintegrate. Their strength is external, not internal. They are basically scum.

I know a looser with three baby mamas, smokes and do drugs, lazy and pompous to the core. I hosted this guy in my house for a year, but while I though I was helping, I didn't know I was training a snake filled with envy.

op, if you mean this post in the context of marriage, then of course you made a whole lot of sense. The worth of a man is in the provision, to be able to take care of his family. But if it is in the context of a mere relationship, then no, he owes you nothing. And also, feel free to assume your duty as a woman only after marriage. So no sex, kissing, and domestic duties. It's fair that way.

In my book, a vulcanizer that has his own self-contain, who earns honorably, and who can take care of a woman reasonably is responsible in my book. Lots of men can start a family, but the expectations of women these days are very high, making men feels like they are not good enough.

If you want an iPhone 14 pro that costs over a million, then a banker earning 300k monthly won't be able to afford it for you. Does it mean he is not responsible again? The issue here is the disconnect between women's desires and the reality of things.

Women's needs are not proportional to realities on the ground, but exponential. So for example, a man earning 200k naira monthly in the context of Nigeria is above average, but lots of women will consider him poor, that he is not good enough for them. This is the lack of proportionality I mean.

If both of you live modestly, his salary should be enough, and if you are not lazy, you can make it easier if you work as well. Also, the way women analyze the financial depth of a man's pocket, the man is also analyzing if this girl is a gold digger.

So it is not black and white. Men are trying. The average man wants to be loved and will do everything to get that taste of a woman's warmth who loves him purely. A bit of empathy is needed for men.

For men, the love they experience dries as they grow older. So for example, a girl of 16 years will be receiving love and attention from multiple channels, such as parents, toasters, boyfriends, brothers, and so forth.

A boy of 16 probably gets love only from his parents, no girls are lining up to take him out. If he asks a girl, then love in form of cash will go from him to her. And the older he gets, his parents will become his dependents. Meanwhile, a girl will marry and her husband continues showering her love from where everybody stopped. But of course, after she has selected the best of men in all her charity givers.

But even if a man marries his choice, he still has to spend heavily. She will probably love the kids more than him, and her love is only as valid as how long he can be useful materially. This is the reality of men. Even in these circumstances, men still accepted it. The least women can do is to match their desire with the realities on the ground, this is Nigeria, not Netherlands. We are broke in this country.
