Business › Re: Putting Sanusi's Islamic Banking In Perspective by emmatok(m): 12:49am On Jun 29, 2011 |
The majority of Islamic banking clients are found in the Gulf states and in developed countries. With 60% of Muslims living in poverty, Islamic banking is of little benefit to the general population. The majority of financial institutions that offer Islamic banking services are majority owned by Non-Muslims. With Muslims working within these organizations being employed in the marketing of these services and having little input into the actual day to day management, the veracity of these institutions and their services are viewed with suspicion. One Malaysian Bank offering Islamic based investment funds was found to have the majority of these funds invested in the gaming industry; the managers administering these funds were non Muslim.[42] These types of stories contribute to the general impression within the Muslim populace that Islamic banking is simply another means for banks to increase profits through growth of deposits and that only the rich derive benefits from implementation of Islamic Banking principles. Hence, the controversy that surrounds Islamic Banking continues. Is Islamic Banking really Islamic? This is a question that still is a matter of debate among the Muslim academia. |

manny4life: All this bickering, the non interest concept is good but using the word "Islamic" is nothing short of stirring chaos. MY point has always been why does it have to be "Islamic" and Sharia compliant ? Some argue it's because it conforms to the rule of Sharia Law, but we forget so soon even the holy bible supports the same cause as well, I guess SLS should consider Christian Banking as well et al religions that supports that concept of banking. SLS is nothing but a "go figure" on this one, and shouldn't be heading the CBN, his religion has taken first priority in place of his duty to the CBN and should step down. I don't understand why people are not calling for his resignation or at least pushing their members of reps int he houses to question this man's motive. Is Pres. GEJ waiting till chaos erupts before he acts against this man? THE PROBLEM IS THAT SANUSI HAS A PERSON INTEREST IN CREATING ISLAMIC BANKING.SO IF A CHRISTIAN BECOMES CBN GOVERNOR TOMORROW IS HE GOING TO CREATE "CHRISTIAN BANKING"? SANUSI is playing with fire for bringing religion into banking. BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN DETACH ISLAMIC BANKING FROM SHARIA !!! |

coogar: but the fact this woman saw her parents sticking it through thick and thin is a plus. she won't be too hasty to pack out of the house when she eventually marries because she was not brought up that way. a woman raised from a broken home has more tendency to be impatient and the moment the storm comes, she runs for her dear life because that was what she saw her mum doing when she was young.
ladies from broken homes mostly have issues especially trust issues when their partner is concerned. it has been indoctrinated in their mentality that the men folk can never be trusted. they mostly get extra defensive in relationships, they are mostly self-centred and it's like they always half-expect their male partners to screw up to prove the myth that "all men are dogs". True they tend to very impatient and too independent. Those ladies feels they do not need to sacrifice for any relationship since their parent didn't sacrifice. |

Do the right thing by appealing to the mother to allow your son come for holidays. Visit more often to build a r/ship with your son. Never take the child away forcefully;I know how it feels cos it has happened to me as a child. With time,he will learn to love u and may opt to live with u. Never listen to gossip or apparently friendly advice from so-called friends. Some people just want to put fire where there is none. If it is within your means, start a business for the mother to improve her quality of life. No sacrifice is too great for your son. May God help u take the right decision. A woman having two children for two different men, yet she is not married or settled. Is she a baby factory ?
The poster has the right to show concern, because he thinks that woman is not financially and morally sound to take care of the boy.
And can't continue to send money not knowing how the money is being spent.
But the poster must be careful here not to bring discomfort to the boy.
All he needs to do, is to bring in a mediator probably a Child Custody Lawyer to straighten out the Child Support and Custody issue. |

You Tinubu lads are here again with your usual rants. I hear Eko Ile saying " Who voted, elected, appoint or made Awo Yoruba leader?" you better go ask your Father and Grand Father who PAPA AWO is to the YORUBA PEOPLE. When the Yoruba PEOPLE were enjoying better and affordable education, health e.t.c. due to Awo's vision were where you and your TINUBU. The YORUBA RACE is strong and dynamic today simply because of what PAPA AWO did for his people. And TINUBU is benefiting from that. Now you little children are gallivanting all over the internet all because of TINUBU.
Apart from Tinubu winning the SW to ACN what has he and his Governors done for the Yoruba people.
Yet these Children are comparing Tinubu to AWO. @ dayokanu calling MAMA "HIV". You can continue o o o . |

damola1: I agree with you mate, second this. However, most great men, seldom indulge themselves in the art of women manipulation until they become great, which by then is too late. Women don't play fair, especially when they want something and you stand between them and their goals. Female manipulation tricks are legendary, and they aren't about to stop any time soon -- which means there’s a pretty good chance you’ll be faced with the full-court press from your sweetie at some point. Whether she's looking for forgiveness or a favor, you can bet that she'll try every trick in the book to get her way. While you can't prevent her from making attempts to fight dirty, you most definitely can spot the trickery in action and even the playing field by deflecting her underhanded actions.

stormm: Do people understand what they read at all? Are contributors on this forum actually aware of political events around them? Perhaps for a few lines that are out of order by Omatseye, I can't fathom what the hue about Tinubu is all about. 'Mama' is the founder and convener of Yoruba Forum, a political group supposedly made of all elected politicians and active between 2007 - date. I'm sure the likes of OGD and other SW PDP govs, looking to gain political leverage provided funding for that rubbish. 'Mama' is active, aware and conscious of her survival, hence her association with the PDP and their negative policies. 'Mama' wined and dined with the oppressors of her people. It is the resurgence of progressive politics, championed by Tinubu that 'Mama' saw as a challenge to the family survival, hence the onslaught against those who wanted a govt that will serve the majority. For those who doubt the survival theory, maybe they can point at one company headed by an Awolowo that is today a thriving business. Even Tribune was kinda revived a few years ago and can not boast of a quarter of Punch's print run. You TINUBU fan won't let this issue die down. So because MAMA decide to go with a political party, every dick and harry can now insult her. Can you imagine that Itsekiri man writing trash about MAMA AWOLOWO , because of her political alliance. Yet some TINUBU and his followers won't let the issue rest. |

N101: A "struggle" for who and in what sense? Before you get married you struggle to feed your self, house yourself, built your career and try to make yourself comfortable financially and other wise. After you get married that struggle is not about you alone, it now includes the wife and children. You have to feed them, cloth them, house them, send them to school. e.t.c You only "settle down" when you are old and your children are successful. |
Family › Re: Does Marriage Really Mean Settling Down? by emmatok(m): 6:13pm On Jun 16, 2011 |
N101: When you "settle down" it means you have established an exclusive relationship, committing yourself to that one person, after being unmarried. This also means all your energies should be dedicated to making that relationship mutually beneficial to both of you. It is no more "me" mine" and "I" but "we" us" and "ours". Marriage has its highs and lows, but you learn a lot about yourself and the other person along the way.
Unfortunately it seems a lot of people get married for the wrong reasons and choose to do dishonourable things whilst married. When people focus on themselves and not the other person, they choose to live as though they are unsettled thus the extramarital boyfriends and girlfriends. No, Marriage is not "settling down". It is the beginning of another struggling. The only difference is that the struggling is no multiplied. |

For several years, TINUBU has been depending on the legacies of AWo to play his politics. This all goes back to the AD days but TINUBU is no AWO. Their brand of politics is very different. While AWO was more interested in building lasting legacies and honest politics, TINUBU is more intrested in hiding under the camouflage of the opposition and looting the state.
That very thing Bola Ahmed TINUBU criticizes the PDP for, he's 100% guilty too. Tinubu is as corrupt as they come, he cant tell us he has not lined his pocket with the spoils of the state and come claiming Awo. Who is the head of the touts in Lagos? Who owns Oriential Hotels and at what point was it developed? What were the legacies TINUBU's eight year administration in Lagos had to show?
Why did Lagosians suddenly regard Fashola as a messih? Who owns OANDO? Who owns hypertek engr? So many,
It's an Abomination to equate Bola Ahmed TINUBU to an AWo. They are not the same and please Tinubu should create his own brand and stop trying to ursurp the memories of a goodman or insult his family. His three family - wife, daughter n son in law have been entrenched in the Senate, Federal House and Lagos House of Assemblies respectively, Were all this by merit?
TIME WILL TELL. Thank you. Apart from winning the SW to ACN . Tunibu has not done anything for the Yoruba people . Most ACN candidates are PDP AND ANPP deserters. Yet he wants to compete with AWO when he not stand JAKANDE. |

Now why are the Awolwos now crying over an attack you initiated? Tribune is not the fisrt media outlet to call Tinubu felon and B@5tard, and it will not be the last.So why not attack Tribune instead. And leave the AWO family alone. “So, how can I possibly be behind the opinion of a columnist, simply because he writes for a newspaper, which I am associated with?” the former governor explained. He said even, Papa Awolowo, publisher of the Tribune while alive, always told people that he read articles in the Tribune, like other readers, since the paper had its editorial policy.
“The sage, Chief Awolowo himself used to say that he read articles in the Tribune like any other reader, despite that he was the publisher. The same principle applies here,” he explained. From Tinubu. |
