@TWoods @chibertha
Thanks for answering my questions. I only have one last batch of questions before i start my usa preparation

1) i thought its the school we use to write sop too. How come during interview the vo always have a copy of the sop, i want to assume its the school that sends the vo the sop. Or is it that people write two sops, one for vo and one for sch.

2) concerning coa. I want to assume that coa is the total cost of ur addmission or is it the total cost of admission per year.

For example, if i am going for a 4 year phd. And the cost is 20k usd per year.

Does it mean my coa is 80k usd?

And if so, judging by the 80k analysis, what is the ideal deficit you can advise someone to have in his statement of account or would you advice someone to have the complete 80k usd or its equivalent showing on the statement to give the vo impression that you can take good care of urself financially.

Not at all. For biomedical PhDs, you can look for fellowships, teaching or graduate assistantships to cover your tuition + stipend.

Yes F2 visa holders are not allowed to work and there is no way to circumvent this. F1 holders can work in limited circumstances… and for no more than 20 hours per week. If you’re on a fellowship for example, you are not allowed to work. It’s worth asking, is a phd a path to study for you or a path to come and work?

Your civil partner will have to get her own visa on her own merit.

The F2 visa is a temporary visa, it is not intended for permanent stay in the US.

Get a job and extend your stay through an OPT or h1b work visa.

No. You are required to maintain full time status until you graduate. The consequence is the school will terminate your F1 status and report you to immigration authorities. Feel free to take the chance though.

A phd is a doctorate degree.
Honestly, i really appreciate your time in answering my questions.

But i hope you're not keeping some secrets from me maybe because you may feel this is an open space and there's a limit to what you can say.

I'm really paticular about the f2 for my civil partner. If you say its a temp visa of course i do know it is. But so many applicants here do it for their wife, are you telling me all of them go thru the stress of doing it for their wife even after knowing the wife will just be there for a short time and she wont work, or is there a secret nigerians are using over there whereby the wife can stay longer and do some under the radar job.

I have been reading the thread. From page1 and kudos to all the guys contributing. Please i have series of questions.

1) first and foremost, are all of you on the thread from a rich home. Cus after my findings, usa tuition no be beans o. Jesus. I'm planning to go for my phd because currently i'm almost done with my msc. And i learnt average tution for phd in usa is 28k usd per year, and phd is like three years and above, where will i see money from?

2) additionally, i heard f2 cant work, is this true? If so, is there a way to circumvent it? I also heard f1 cant work, is this also true, if so, is there a way to circumvent it?

3) furthermore, is it best to apply with my civil partner, or i should first go, and she applies after i am already there?

4) going forward, from people's transcript on the thread, most of the enlightened ones here says the f2 should tell vo that they are only going to be with the f1 for few months and they will return back, what if the vo gives the f2 a 4months visa, and the 4 months is due, will the f2 be sent packing back to where she was coming from or how can the f2 find a way to still remain with f1?

5) Also, after f1's education tenure is over, what can f1 do to still remain in the US?

6) pre-ultimately, is it possible for me to pause my schooling and just be working or is it possible to dump the schooling with no harsh clap back from visa team.

7) lastly, are doctorate degree cheaper than phd in usa

Thank you all as you answer my questions.

Cant someone just live his life normally, earn his salary, and use his card to buy something with the money in his card. Wont this also increase credit score?

Not only when you work for the bolded and also not only when you are the bolded.
If it’s you alone, good! And if you have dependants, you can do this below.

- The main applicant and his or her dependants can all get a refund that would be lodged directly into the account used in making the same payment initially.
- As long as you work in healthcare; either with care homes, Independent living, Domiciliary, NHS or whatever, you qualify.
- When applying, ensure your application (payslips) timeframe starts from March of the year under review to avoid rejection.
- If the main applicant (MA) and his dependant work in healthcare, they only need an application that will include all their details.
However, If their timeframe isn’t the same, they can decide to do it separately.

Remember me when the ££££ enter o, just a bottle of O’mara’s Salted Caramel Irish cream will do cool
What if the source where the payment was made from no longer exist. I used my payoneer card to pay and now its blocked

This is gonna be long.
For over 2 days i slept on youtube looking for that one video that will explain to someone how uk NI(national insurance) and income tax is being taxed.

I noticed a lot of people on the thread dont really understand the arithmetic aspect of how the tax works. Even if there are calculators online to do the whole thing for you, i'm sure guys like me are on the thread who loves hand on deck calculations just to see exactly how the system works.

This is also good if you want to compare different countries tax and see which country u wanna settle in.

First, the tax bands are as follows, dont let this confuse you. It is my examples that will give you clearer understanding.

£0 - £12570 is 12570 and 0% (personal allowance)
£12571 - £50270 is 37699 and 20% (basic band)
£50271 - £150000 is 99729 and 40% (higer band)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We want to know what your net pay is after tax have been taken from your gross pay.
Your gross pay is your salary before tax.
Your net pay is your salary after tax.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EXAMPLE1
Your salary is £60000
First and foremost, you are entitled to personal allowance of £12570 and this will not be taxed.

60000
-12570
-------------
47430

This 47430 falls between band2 (37699) and band3 (99729)

What then happens is this.

37699 from your 47430 will be taxed at 20%. Which is 37699x0.2 is 7539.

When 37699 is taking from the 47430, you know it will remain 9731, now that 9731 will be taxed at 40%. That will be 9731x0.4 which is 3892.

Conclusively, it means if your salary is 60000, you will be taxed 11,431 being (3892+7539).

EXAMPLE2
Let us assume your salary is 52000.

First and foremost remove the 12570 that is not taxable.

52000
- 12570
--------------
39430

39430 falls in the range of (37699) and (99729), which are 20% and 40% respectively.

So, 37699 from your 39430 will be taxed at 20%. Which is 37699x0.2 is 7539.

Now, remember that when 37699 is taken from your 39430, it will remain 1731.
This 1731 will now be taxed at 40%.
So, 1731x0.4 is 692.

Conclusively, on your salary of 52000, you are taxed 8231 being (692+7539).

Example 3
Let us assume your salary is 25000
First and foremost, remove your 12570.

25000
- 12570
-------------
12430

Since 12430 falls on the personal allowance band. They'll just use the basic band. Which is 20%. 12430x0.2 is 2486.

Conclusively, your tax from 25000 is 2486.

Note i did some round up. This is not perfect. But near perfect.
Let me know if u find this useful. Then i'll do the one with NI included.

Yup, particularly appliances that heat and cool. Do your bulbs get hot? Buy Energy Saving bulbs instead.

Recently, I studied my regulator for hot water and changed the settings, now it heats water only between 1am and 3am or so. Those 2 hours of heating daily is just enough for my entire family hot water usage daily: no more, no less. That was my magic number: any thing more than 2 hours, I have excess; anything less than 2 hours won't be enough.

Your curtains too, changing to thermal blinds that traps in heat could save you a lot.

Instead of heating the whole house so you can go around shirtless, turn down the heater and wear two layers of clothes. Saving £100 monthly throughout winter is a lot!
I still stay in student accommodation for now where i on heater 24/7 even if i no dey house, my housemates all brits go on heater for sitting room, open windows and go out for 2days and not return. Water heater is on 24/7. We just dey do anyhow. Bulb is on 24/7. And we pay just 400/month. Everybody just dey waste light dey do anyhow.
So i dont really feel the brunt of electric fees.

But when i'm on my own. And i have my own apartment. Body go tell me. Infact. I no go get water heater self. Anybody wey wan bath. I go tell my wife make she carry kettle go boil water if she wan bath. No yeye water heater. And no yeye hot water coming out from kitchen tap. Cus that thing useless for my eye. Wetin i wan use hot water for kitchen tap do. Wetin no fit cook indomie

Nah, you don't know much about Electric Heating. If you have a big boiler, one has to carefully regulate the Thermostat. My November bill was £284, with the rebate, I should pay about £218. I have paid about £900 in a month of carelessness before.
Which one is now better and cheaper.
Because i see a lot of people saying electric is better but i beg to differ o.

All the gas heater i have seen always heat faster and reaches wider. Most electric i have seen dont heat as fast and the heat doesnt disperse to wider reach like the gas own.

1. Well, people might want to get UK experience first before applying for the ones with sponsorship. The UK experience helps + sitting around and waiting for sponsorship alone means you get to miss out on other quality experience which will later help you
Appying to only coys offering sponsorship can be your strategy though, what works for A might not work for B

2. Yes, my house mate earns 67 also. I think I have seen £80, varies across coys. I earn £30 / sleepin and its cheating tbh. You can always know what youll earn during the interview if you ask

3. I believe you can completed all neccessary docs when you enter etc.
Thanks so much

Err you didnt ask me any question boss
Thanks so much my friend for ur input
I have some more questions, and perhaps the house too can learn

(1) I see so much people on this thread who keep looking for firms to offer sponsorship i also see lot of people whom complain after that they had to drop an offer because during interview stage they found out such job does not do sponsorship.

Because of this sponsorship wahala i have really browsed the net. And i found out that there is a comprehensive list of firms in the uk that can do sponsorship.

My point now is, since we all know the companies that can do sponsorship. Why then do we apply for jobs that arent on that list and hope that they do sponsorship or am i getting it all wrong?

(2) a friend of mine - tho i dont knw if she is lying - says she earns 67 pounds for sleepin in the care home she works. Omo my ear ring wen i hear. Cus thats really much. Even me na just 30pounds i dey earn for sleep in.
My point is how is it possible for one to know the likely salary amount of a coy before even applying?

(3) if i am main applicant. But my wife got a 3 year COS.
Can i travel out of uk lets say for a year. And come back?
