Travel › Uk Start New Passport Without Eu Written On It. by erico2k2(op): 8:30pm On Apr 07, 2019
The first British passports without the words European Union on the front cover have been issued to the public, despite the delays over Brexit.

They were introduced from 30 March - the day after Britain was expected to leave the EU
Some of the burgundy passports including the words European Union will continue to be issued while the remaining stock is used up, but those applying for a new travel document will not be able to choose between the two.

However, both designs will be valid for travel.

Susan Hindle Barone, who picked up her new passport on Friday, said she was surprised to see the EU words omitted because "we're still members of the EU"
The decision to remove the words was made in anticipation of Britain leaving the EU at the end of last month.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: "Burgundy passports that no longer include the words European Union on the front cover were introduced from 30 March 2019.
"In order to use leftover stock and achieve best value to the taxpayer, passports that include the words European Union will continue to be issued for a short period after this date.

"There will be no difference for British citizens whether they are using a passport that includes the words European Union, or a passport that does not. Both designs will be equally valid for travel."

What models do the 318i and the 320i come with respectively. I tried searching for 320...I could only see 2012 upward. I'm sure the prices would be on the high side. Would appreciate 2005 to 2008 models to reduce cost. Thanks!
Not at all, they are all three serries.
Just look for any 3 series, but the 4 plugs are more popular in Europe than America.

ladymarshall:
Fantastic point.

I live in Germany and I will move to Canada before the end of the year. I am an early career professional. This question must be answered in relation to you, as a migrant, black and African. It has nothing to do with economy. You can live in the best economy in the world and still be poverty-ridden depending on the platforms and opportunities available to you as an individual. Germany is a shithole for black highly skilled professionals, so much institutional racism and stereotyping. You are cannot rise to the peak. As long as you are black, you will have to keep defending your right to live in the country. What about raising black children? Why are most black children pushed into menial and production jobs in Germany? I won't even talk much, if you know, you know. If you are non-ambitious and want to take advantage of their refugee provisions, Germany is best. If you are a professional and want to secure your residency while preserving your respect and dignity as an individual, Canada is best.

Some mention Americans moving to Germany than Canada as proof. See ehn, it is when you live in Germany, you will understand that black African and black American are never the same. Germans worship "native English speakers". As a Nigerian, are you one? Where will you ever belong? No matter how much you learn German and speak it well, you will always be referred to as an "Auslander", even when you carry a German passport. i am not saying Canada is paradise, there is racism everywhere, but in terms of prospects, opportunities, respect and belonging as a black, immigrant, African Professional, Canada is far better. But to each, his/her own.
This was my view when I was asking of how many policemen are Black Africans etc. In the Uk, the Police force came out with a strong statement saying YES we are Institutionally Racist and there was positive discrimination to this effect.

Anna Okon with agency report

Nigeria is building a new deep-seaport and considering two additional facilities to ease congestion at Apapa seaports, which currently handle about 80 per cent of all shipping traffic in the country.

A new facility is already under construction in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos through a public-private partnership, while another may be built in the Badagry area of the city, near the border with Benin.

A third project, the Ibom seaport, is under consideration in the oil-rich Niger delta , Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director, Hadiza Bala-Usman, disclosed in a recent interview with Bloomberg.

The government had in the past year, invested in developing the eastern ports of Warri, Calabar, Onne and Port Harcourt, whose river channels are too narrow to accommodate large vessels, forcing shipping companies to take their vessels to Lagos.

The NPA last year commenced the dredging of Warri port at the cost of $44.861m (N16.150bn).

Bala-Usman has also encouraged flat-bottomed vessels that do not require too much sea depth to berth at the eastern ports and the response has been encouraging as there was an increase in the number of such vessels calling at the Port Harcourt and Calabar ports since last year.

Bloomberg reported that the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports remained the hubs for cargo transiting through Africa’s most populous nation.

But inefficiency and congested roads to the ports mean daily queues of hundreds of trucks. The government wants to focus on improving the nearby roads and other infrastructure to ease the transportation of goods including cars, computers, food and machinery, Bala-Usman told the business newswire.

“We have congestion because 80 per cent of our cargo goes on the road. You must have that seamless evacuation, if not, it’s laughable to think you will not have congestion,” she said.

Shipment delays of almost eight weeks prompted the National Cashew Association of Nigeria to raise the alarm last month as $300m worth of nuts remained stuck in containers on trucks waiting to enter the ports.

Inadequate infrastructure, stifling red tape and corruption at the ports are hurting business, the Nigeria Cashew Exporters Association said.

Similar concerns were voiced by the nation’s cocoa exporters last year after trucks carrying the beans took as long as four weeks to get through the potholed roads to the ports, pushing up haulage costs and putting sales contracts at risk.

The Ministry of Transport is building a new railway to the Lagos ports to speed up the evacuation of cargo, Usman said.

For now, trailer parks are being built to take trucks off the road and barges have been deployed to move cargo on inland waterways. Lagos is Africa’s biggest city, with an estimated population of 22 million people.

Politics › Re: MURIC Expresses Disappointment Over Fayemi’s Commissioners List by erico2k2(m): 1:54am On Apr 06, 2019
phranklean:
The governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, sent his list of commissioners to the State assembly on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019. The list contained fourteen (14) names. The governor also added another five (5) names for the nomination of the chairman and members of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission (EKSLGSC).

Meanwhile the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has described the list as most disappointing. The Islamic human rights organization reacted in a press statement signed by its Founder and Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday, 4th April, 2019.

“This list is heavily lopsided. Fayemi is ill-advised. He has grossly shortchanged Muslims. How can he give us only one commissioner out of fourteen? What parameter did he use? This is most disappointing. Fayemi has blindfolded Muslims in Ekiti state. Muslims are not part of his government. Ekiti State executive is not truly representative. It is undemocratic. It is a sham. The disappointment is even more painful because Governor Fayemi had been touted as a very liberal Christian. But see what he has done to us.

“Even in Ondo state where the percentage of Muslims is lower, they were given four commissioners. That is what Governor Akeredolu did for Muslims in Ondo. He gave them four out of fourteen and that is why the Muslims are not making any noise there. Justice is the soul of peace.

“With Dr. Wahab Adegbenro in the Ministry of Health, Rashid Badmus in Natural Resources, Alhaji Imam Olurimisi in Culture and Tourism and Taofiq Abdul Salaam in Works, Ondo Muslims look at the Muslim commissioners and say, ‘We are well-represented’.

“But see what Fayemi has done to us. Only Alhaji Ayodele Jinadu is a Muslim out of his fourteen commissioners. We reject this in Allah’s Mighty Name. It could have been different if the Muslims had not said anything earlier but they did. They asked for proportionate representation but this is what Fayemi gave them: an empty pot of porridge. Ekiti Muslims do not deserve this humiliation. It is a betrayal in view of the undiluted support they gave Fayemi during the elections.

“If this is a snub, there is always another day. If it is an act of impunity, we all know that power is transient and even the high and mighty will need the poor and weak somewhere along the line. We are used to powerless conscience subjugating conscienceless power. What we are not used to is powerless conscience getting away with it. We will remember this if Fayemi seeks higher office in future. Our message is not for Ekiti alone. Nor is it for the South West. Only the deep can call to the deep. It is a wakeup call to Muslims to restrategize and they will do just that.

“Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade is the only Muslim member on the list of EKSLGSC. Alhaja Ogunlade was once the Ameerah (chairperson) of the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Ekiti State. She deserves the position.

“But while we may not object to the EKSLGSC list, we keenly await the list of members and chairmen of other boards and agencies. We are interested in knowing how many of them will be chaired by Muslims. There should be no pretensions about it. Muslims have been marginalized in the appointments made so far by Fayemi. They therefore deserve lofty positions in remaining appointments.

“Fayemi is a Christian, he picked a Christian as deputy governor, a Christian as Chief of Staff, a Christian as Secretary to the State Government, 13 Christians out of 14 commisioners have now been nominated. The body language is very clear. Muslims do not matter to him. Fayemi has wittingly excommunicated participatory democracy from Ekiti State.

“MURIC charges Muslims in Ekiti State to tighten their seat belts. The struggle ahead is not only political but intellectual. They must go into politics in large number and with diversification. Enough is enough. Their continuous marginalization already speaks volumes.

“On a last note, we express the deep disappointment felt by Muslims, not only in Ekiti State but also in the South West and in Nigeria as a whole over Fayemi’s lopsided list. A thick air of betrayal has enveloped Islamdom. We urge Muslims in the state to restrategize. As for Governor Fayemi, we caution him against marring his hitherto good records in Christian-Muslim relations. His latest lopsided list is a potent threat to participatory democracy. He may still have a slim chance to redress the injustice”.
