How does that lessen the fact there is a perpetrator out there. If someone told you they were almost robbed, won't your first instinct be to be more vigilant so as to catch the thief so he/she does not rob and maybe harm others.

Will you tell them to shut because "almost robbed" is not "robbed".

CelebritiesJUST IN: I’ll Sue Busola Dakolo Over Rape Accusations- Pastor Fatoyinbo by etcsines(op): 7:18pm On Jun 28, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Embattled founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) Abuja, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, has threatened to sue celebrity photographer, Busola Dakolo, for alleging he raped her as a 16-year-old.

Busola Dakolo, the wife of a soul singer, Timi, shocked the nation on Friday morning when he alleged Fatoyinbo raped her serially as a teenager while in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state.

In the YouTube video interview he granted Chude Jideonwo, Dakolo claimed the incidents left her shattered and traumatized.

The viral video attracted wide criticisms and outrage on social media with many commentators calling for Fatoyinbo’s head.

But Fatoyinbo finally broke his silence on Friday evening, denying he did rape Busola or anyone for that matter.

In a statement, the embattled Pastor said: “I have never in my life raped anybody, even as an unbeliever and I am absolutely innocent of this.

“Busola Dakolo, who has made this false allegation and her family attended the church during the early start of the church in Ilorin in 1999.

“I never had any private interactions with her beyond my pastoral duties. Looking at her status and that of her husband, I am dumbfounded why she would say such a thing.”

The pastor further threatened to sue Busola Dakolo for spreading damaging falsehood against him and the church.

According to him: “The leadership of the church and I have briefed our lawyers to commence criminal and civil actions against all individual making such false allegations whether directly or by proxies.

“We will as a church pursue every measure within the ambits of the law to bring the culprits to justice.”

PoliticsJustice Valentine Ashi Is Dead by etcsines(op): 6:52pm On Jun 28, 2019
A High Court judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Valentine Ashi, who ordered security agencies to arrest and produce the former Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, within 72 hours, is dead.

It was gathered that the judge died on Thursday, June 27th in an Abuja hospital from an undisclosed ailment.

Authorities of the FCT High Court also confirmed the development but assured a formal statement will be issued on Monday, with the authority of the Chief Judge, Justice Ishaq Bello, The Nation reports

“Some members of the late Justice Ashi’s family has visited the court’s management to inform the court about the unfortunate incident. I can confirm that they said he died on Thursday in the course of an illness. But, the court will issue a formal statement on Monday,” a senior official of the court said.
Ashi had on 4 December 2018, upon an ex-parte motion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), ordered the agency, Nigerian Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Services (DSSS) and all other security agencies to arrest Alison-Madueke and produce her in court within 72 hours.

EFCC said added that its investigation showed that Diezani, as supervising minister of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, allegedly engaged in illicit and monumental fraudulent dealings in oil transactions, which she entered into on behalf of the Federal Government.

PoliticsNigeria Is Bankrupt Due To Buhari's Bad Economic Policies - Emir Sanusi by etcsines(op): 8:14am On Jun 26, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi has once again called on President Buhari to remove fuel subsidy to avoid the country going bankrupt.

Emir Sanusi who is well known for his tough comments on national issues declared the Buhari administration’s economic policies as unfavorable, adding that Nigeria is on the threshold of bankruptcy.

He identified the bad economic policies of the Buhari administration to include subsidizing petroleum products, electricity tariffs and using 70 percent of the country’s revenue to service debt.

Sanusi made these revelations at the ongoing 3rd National Treasury Workshop organized by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano State where he advised Buhari to cancel subsidy in petroleum and electricity tariffs if the economy must stabilize.

“The country is Bankrupt and we are heading to bankruptcy. What happened is that the Federal Government do pay petroleum subsidy, pay electricity tariff subsidy, and if there is a rise in interest rates, Federal Government pays.

What is more life-threatening than the subsidy that we have to sacrifice education, health sector and infrastructure for us to have cheap petroleum. If truly President Buhari is fighting poverty, he should remove the risk on the national financial sector and stop the subsidy regime which is fraudulent.”

He challenged President Buhari to tell Nigerians the fact about the economic situation and also act quickly on it because the nation is already bankrupt.

“Since I have decided to come here, you have to accept what I have said here. And please, if you do not want to hear the truth, never invite me. So let us talk about the state of public finance in Nigeria. We have a number of very difficult decisions that we must make, and we should face the reality. His Excellency, the President said in his inaugural speech that his government would like to lift 100 million people out of poverty, it was a speech that was well received not only in this country but worldwide.

“The number of people living with poverty in Nigeria is frightening. By 2050, 85 percent of those living in extreme poverty in the world will be from the African continent. And Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo will take the lead. Two days ago, I read that the percentage of government revenue going to debt services has risen to 70 percent.

”These numbers are not lying. They are public numbers. I read them in the newspapers. When you are spending 70 percent of your revenue on debt services, then you are managing 30 percent. And then, you continue subsidizing petroleum products; and spending N1.5 trillion per annum on petroleum subsidy! And then we are subsidizing electricity tariff. And maybe, you have to borrow from the capital market or the Central Bank of Nigeria to service the shortfall in the electricity tariff, where is the money to pay salaries, where is the money for education, where are other government projects.

Sanusi lamented that for 30 years, successive governments have had this project called petroleum subsidy, insisting that this is the right time to stop it so as to save the nation’s economy.

Crime82-year Old Man Given $288,000 For Wrongfully Imprisoned For 46 Years by etcsines(op): 6:07am On Jun 25, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

82-year-old man compensated with $288,000 after 46 years for being wrongfully convicted for murder.

82-year-old Vietnamese man Tran Van Them was charged, convicted and sentenced to death in 1973 and 1974. He was only declared innocent in 2017.

Them, a resident of Yen Phong District in Bac Ninh Province, one hour northeast of Hanoi, got the compensation for the years he spent in jail

He and his family originally demanded VND15 billion in compensation for his ordeal, which included being sentenced to death twice. After prolonged negotiations, they agreed to accept less than half their demand, because "we have been waiting for too long" and Them "is already too old and his health has been declining progressively," the family said.

According to police records, They and his cousin Nguyen Khac Van were on their way to buy goods in Vinh Phu Province, which has now been separated into Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces, on June 23, 1970, VnExpress reports.

As they were sleeping under a makeshift shelter used by a street barber during the day, they were attacked and robbed. Van was hit in the head and They were injured, too. Van died at the hospital later and police concluded that They had committed robbery and murder.

At the trial of the first instance in 1973, he was sentenced to death, and the sentence was upheld in 1974. They refused to admit guilt and steadfastly asserted he was innocent.

In 1976, he was released after a local man admitted to the crime. But that suspect died in 1984 before the court resumed the trial.

As the investigators did not continue investigating the case and left it unresolved, They submitted a petition in 1997, asking the supreme court to review the case, but nothing was changed.

On December 6, 2004, They filed another petition, but by then, the Justice Council Members of the Supreme People's Court had destroyed all files of the first instance and appeal trials. This allowed police to start the investigation afresh in line with regulations.

11 long years later, investigators collected enough evidence to close the case and affirm Them’s innocence.

On August 8, 2016, investigators decided to stop investigating them and the supreme court concluded that he was innocent. Three days later, the court made a public apology to them.

In 2017, the supreme court deleted all criminal records of them and began negotiating the compensation.

Now a free man, Them said: "During all those years in prison, I still believed that I would be declared innocent one day and that the police would definitely arrest the real culprit."
"I’ve suffered all those days that people, including family members, shunned me. But I did not do it."

CrimeMan Jailed 15 Years For Conspiring With Armed Robber by etcsines(op): 5:25pm On Jun 24, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

An Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a man, Tijani Idris, to 15 years imprisonment for conspiring with an armed robber.

Justice Adedayo Akintoye convicted Idris – the first of two defendants – after he struck a plea bargain deal with the Lagos State Government, pursuant to Sections 75 and 76 of the state’s Administration of Criminal Justice Law of 2015.

The deal, approved by the court, saw him pleading guilty to a lesser one-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery, contrary to Sections 403A and 402(2)(A) of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State 2003.

The second defendant, who was not named, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery which carry a maximum sentence of death by hanging.

Before handing down the sentence, Justice Akintoye acknowledged the terms of the plea bargain prepared by the prosecution counsel, Mr. Sunmonu Babatunde, an Assistant Director in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The judge observed that the first defendant had shown remorse for his actions and had saved the time of the court.

She also noted that “The first defendant agreed to plead guilty to the offenses of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery with a lesser sentence of 15 years.

“That the first defendant has been in custody from the 24th of September 2008.

“That a term of 15 years imprisonment commencing from the date of remand at the Magistrate Court is approved by the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, subject to the Court‘s final approval.”

Upholding the agreement, Justice Akintoye held: “The defendant is hereby sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

This sentence takes effect from September 28, 2008.”

Earlier, Babatunde reviewed the facts of the case.

He said: “At about 12:30hours on the 19th of June 2008, along Badagry Seme Expressway, the defendants were arrested following a complaint by one Benedict Victor that he was robbed by them at Mowo Bus Stop and the sum of N6,000 and a mobile phone was stolen at gunpoint.

“During a search, a locally made pistol, 9mm live ammunition, three mobile phones and the sum of N6,000, were recovered from the defendants.

“The defendants were taken before Magistrate Court 19 Igbosere/Tapa on the 24th of September 2008 and were remanded by the court.

“They were on remand before the case was assigned to Justice (Adeniyi) Adebajo (Rtd of the Lagos High Court).”
He explained that a trial could not be concluded before Justice Adebajo retired. The matter was then re-assigned to Justice Akintoye where it commenced de novo

“They were arraigned before this Honourable Court on 16th February 2016 on a two-count charge of Conspiracy to commit robbery and armed robbery, to which they pleaded not guilty, but changed their plea midway into the trial” Babatunde added.

@titiloyeblog.com

An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court Monday remanded an Islamic cleric, Abdulsalam Salaudeen, 43, in prison custody for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl (names withheld) in a mosque.

Salaudeen, resident at No. 16, Awoyemi Street, Ikotun, Lagos is facing trial for allegedly defiling the child in his Arabic school.

Prosecuting state counsel, Ms T. Olanrewaju-Dawodu, told the court that Salaudeen committed the offence on December 22, 2018 at the premises of Olorungbebe Mosque at No. 15, Palace Road, Igando, near Lagos.

When the charge was read, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

Following the defendant’s ‘not guilty plea’, the prosecution requested the court to remand him in prison custody.

CrimeJos Baby Thief Confesses: I Just Needed A Child To Call Me Mother, by etcsines(op): 8:06pm On Jun 20, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Mrs. Leritshimwa Diyal, the 32-year-old woman, who has confessed to stealing a three-day-old baby in Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos has said that the desire to have a child, who would call her mother, pushed her into committing the crime.

Diyal, a student of College of Health Technology, Zawan, in Plateau, made the confession while speaking with newsmen when she was paraded by the Plateau Police Command on Thursday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the baby belonging to one Mrs. Mary Chukwuebuka of Zaramangada area of Jos was stolen three days after she put to bed at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

When the matter was reported to the headquarters of the Plateau Police Command in Jos, it immediately commenced investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect.

NAN also recalls that Diyal, before her arrest, had claimed that she gave birth at a kidnappers’ den.

She also claimed that she registered for antenatal care at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

“I have been married for over seven years without a child; the desire to have one pushed me into stealing another woman’s child.

“My husband and I have sought medical attention to ascertain the reason for our childlessness, but to no avail.

“I have contacted many orphanages to adopt a child, but none granted me the opportunity, that is why I resorted to stealing.

“I regret this desperation. I wasn’t thinking straight when I stole the baby. I plead that justice be tempered with mercy,” she pleaded.

Diyal also told journalists that she carried out the act without the knowledge of her husband.

Mr Isaac Akinmoyede, the Police Commissioner in Plateau, attributed the timely arrest of Diyal to the “painstaking and diligent investigation” by his officers and men.

He explained that Diyal perfected her plans and leveraged on her deep knowledge of the terrain of the hospital, where she once undertook her industrial attachment, to steal the baby.

Akinmoyede said that she had faked her kidnap story thinking it would give her a strong alibi to have the baby, but that when she was confronted with realities, she confessed to stealing the baby.

“Currently, the command is investigating her claim that she committed the crime alone,” Akinmoyede said, stressing that the case would be charged to court immediately the investigation was concluded.

NAN reports that the command also paraded one Ismaila Oladipo, a staff of Moulds Nigeria Limited, who allegedly killed one Patience Musa at his residence, on May 31.

“The command is also investigating the alleged killing; the suspect will be charged to court as soon as possible,” he said.

HealthKenya On High Alert As Woman With Suspected Ebola Symptoms Is Put In Isolation by etcsines(op): 7:49pm On Jun 17, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Health authorities in Kericho County are on a red alert over a suspected case of Ebola.

This was after a patient exhibited suspected symptoms of the haemorrhagic fever at Kericho County Referral Hospital.

County officials on Monday said the woman had travelled from Malaba, a town in Busia County on the border of Kenya and Uganda, to see her spouse.

She was initially admitted at Siloam Hospital before being transferred to Kericho County Referral Hospital.

"A female patient presented at our facility today with complaints of headache, hotness of the body, puffy face, some diarrhoea, and nausea of acute onset,” said Ms Margaret Okirio, the administrator at Siloam Hospital.

“On further interrogation, she admitted to having travelled from Malaba where she alleges to reside to see her husband who works in Kericho.”

Ms Okirio said they transferred the patient, acting on Health ministry’s alert on Ebola that requires all medical facilities in Kenya and the public to report any medical cases with symptoms of the fever.

"This patient needed close and further elaborate investigations while under appropriate isolation requirements till diagnosed for targeted treatment to be given,” she said. "The hospital clinical team also went ahead to consult and seek further guidance from the county surveillance team, who advised to have the patient transferred to the county referral hospital for further management while on isolation. Once the appropriate preparations had been done.”

The hitherto unidentified patient was admitted to Kericho County Referral Hospital on Sunday and was immediately put in isolation.

“The county disease surveillance team immediately took over the matter and took all the necessary precautions to ensure that there was minimal contact between the patient and other persons at the hospital including the staff and the other hospital users,” the county government said in a statement.

“The county Department of Health Services is monitoring this potential case very closely and is working with the National Government to ensure that all essential procedures are followed to protect public health and safety.”

Blood samples from the patient were sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) in Nairobi for further analysis.

“The preliminary test results are expected to be ready within the next 12 to 24 hours,” the statement read in part. Kindly note that no visits will be allowed into the isolation room.”

The current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the worst on record after an epidemic that struck mainly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone between 2014-2016, killing more than 11,300 people.

It has spread to Uganda, where two family members a woman and her five-year-old grandson died of Ebola last week after travelling to the DRC to take care of a dying family member and attend the funeral.

The boy's brother, aged three, is also infected, and several family members are in isolation.

On Friday, the World Health Organisation said the outbreak does not yet warrant being declared a "public health emergency of international concern", meaning it would require a "coordinated international response"

PoliticsWomen Not Subordinate To Men - Osinbajo by etcsines(op): 2:57pm On Jun 16, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday urged men to love and honor women, reminding them that women are not subordinate to them.

According to him, women are created equal to men.

The Vice President made the declaration while speaking to State House correspondents after celebrating this year’s Fathers’ Day at the Aso Villa Chapel, Abuja.

He was joined at the service by his mother, Mrs. Olubisi Osinbajo, Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, and others.

He said, “I think the responsibility of the father is incredible indeed and I think what is most important is to teach our men, young men growing up, that they must honor women, not just their wives.

“Of course, you must honor and love your wives, but I think that it is very important that we honor women.

“We don’t treat them as subordinate to us; they are created equal to men.

“But most importantly, we must honor them and recognize their role as partners, not just in families, but in society as well.”

Streaming that men have important roles to play in the society, he said that it is not the ability to have a child that makes a man father.

“It is not the ability to father a child, the ability to have a child that makes you a father; it is the courage to bring up one, ability to raise one.

“That’s what really makes you a father and I think the responsibilities of fatherhood are so many, whether one is a biological father or whether you are one who wants to take care of other children.

“I think that all of us, as men, have a role to play in the life of so many, not just our biological children but so many of them who have no fathers, even to some who have fathers to who we have responsibility to set example to lead exemplary life, to bring them up as scripture says in the way of the Lord.”

Also speaking, the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, who earlier took the 1st Reading of the service taken from Malachi 1:3-6, said “it is not what we tell our children, but the lives we lead and they see us lead” that is important in the life of fathers.

He said this would help a lot in the formative years of children and makes them responsible members of society.

On his part, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, said the Fathers’ Day was not about the celebration but a reminder of the role men have to play in their families as the physical and spiritual head.

“It’s not about the celebration; I think it’s a constant reminder about our responsibilities as fathers.

“We are reminded of the fact that, first, we are the priests of our homes; so we ought to pray for our families.

“And when you have children that are aware that as a father, you are praying for them, the chances of their drifting will not be there because they know that the eyes of their father are constantly on them.

“Constantly, you are reminding God that he has entrusted you with this responsibility and you ought to live up to the responsibility.

“The second thing is that, as fathers, we are supposed to exemplify the life of Christ in the lives of our children because we are just like letters that our children read on a daily basis.

“It is not about how much we say, or what say; it is about our lifestyle.

“The other reminder is that we are breadwinners in our families and we ought to provide for our families.”

Mr. Mustapha had earlier taken the 2nd Reading of the Service taken from Exodus 17:8-16

Delivering the sermon, the Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, Reverend Seyi Malomo, advised fathers to be sensitive to discern any aggression that could harm their families.

Malomo also said fathers should lead their children in spiritual exercises like fasting and prayer, reminding them that their actions have direct implications for their children.

Prayers were said for President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, the legislature and the judiciary in Nigeria.

The congregation also prayed for unity, peace, and progress of Nigeria.

The highlight of the service was the presentation of gifts to President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives and others.

CultureHow Emir Sanusi Squandered N3.4b, By Kano Anti-graft Agency by etcsines(op): 7:22am On Jun 14, 2019
The Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission has described the claim by the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, that he was not the accounting officer of the Kano Emirate Council as a misrepresentation of facts.

This is contained in a preliminary report of the Commission on the investigation being carried out in respect of the alleged misappropriation of over N3.4 billion by the Kano Emirate Council.

The report was signed by the commission’s Chairman, Mr Muhuyi Magaji, a copy of which was made available to Reporter in Kano on Thursday.

Emir Sanusi had in a reply to a query by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje over the alleged N3.4 billion misappropriation, claimed that he met only N1.8 billion in the Emirate Council accounts at the time of his appointment as emir.

The Nation recalls that the monarch also maintained that he was not the accounting officer of the emirate at the time but the institutions secretary before his ascension of the throne.

But in the latest report with reference number PCAC/GEN/6/VOL.I dated June 11, 2019 and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, the anti-corruption body implied that the emir was not being truthful in his defense.

Part of the report reads: “In furtherance to the Commission’s earlier communication No. PCAC/GEN/6/V.I dated 31st May, 2019 on the above subject matter and the unfolding events, the Commission deemed it necessary to make some clarifications as follows:-

“It is imperative to state categorically that, the Commission’s investigation is on alleged misappropriation and questionable expenditures but not on the funds left behind by the Late Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and we still maintain our stance.

“In the cause of investigation we undertook an analysis of the main Account belonging to Kano Emirate Council and domicile at First Bank with account No. 2005888452 starting from the era of the Late Emir to enable the Commission have an idea of how the money is being managed.”

According to the report, there were 783 activities bordering on withdrawals, transfers and placements from Jan. 2, 2013 to June 6, 2014 during the time of the late Emir.

“As from 2nd January 2013 to 13th April, 2017 the opening balance is N432,338,412.98. Total credit made in the account during this period was N6,784,146,335.73 while the total debit during the period under review is N7,209,035,163.09.” It said.

However, it added that, “The closing balance as at April, 2017 is N7,449,585.62.”

It further indicated that “on Feb.13, 2014 and Feb. 26, 2014 payments were made to Philko Ltd, the company said to have undertook the construction of Ado Bayero Royal City via Inter Bank transfers of the sum of N776,159,519.50.

“There were transfers of N388,079,759.75, N338,079,759.75 and N50,000,000.00 made on Feb. 13, 2014 and Feb. 26, 2014 respectively; making the total quoted figures for Philko Ltd.”

The report also alleged that during the period, fixed deposit placements were made to the tune of N581,884,729.54 (placement and rollovers) while net withdrawals on some engagements both cash and withdrawal stood at N1,056,533,728.31.

“In summary, the total withdrawal made from the Account under the Late Emir was N2,414,577,977.35, subtracting this amount from total debit on the account which is N7,209,035,163.09.

“It is evidently clear that the current Emir is responsible for the expenditures to the total sum of N4,794,457,185.74 from the Emirate Council Account domicile in First Bank Plc,” it said.

Similarly, it alleged that all the expenditures made by the Emirate Council were either based on the approval or instructions of Emir Sanusi.

It attached copy of a payment voucher in respect of one of the withdrawals to buttress its claim, which reads, “Being payment to the above named in respect of making special prayers for peace as directed by H.H. Emir of Kano respectively”.

“Therefore, any claim that the Emir is not the accounting officer of the Kano Emirate Council is a deception and a misrepresentation of facts.

“Specifically, the reason of our recommendation for the suspension apart from obstruction of investigation which formed the basis, investigation further reveals that Rufa’i Buhari (Senior Accountant) usually made cash withdrawals directly from the account and change it to Dollars on behalf of the Emir.

“Sometimes direct transfers from the account are made to a Bureau De Change belonging to one Jazuli Sani who was said to have died.

“The Commission still maintain the allegation on unappropriated, seemingly personal expenditures, making the total sum of questionable expenditures uncovered by this investigation to the tune of N3,432,090,797.94 only”, the report added.

@titiloyeblog.com

A member of the Kenyan Parliament representing Wajir East, Rashid Kassim has been arrested hours after allegedly assaulting Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi.

Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi was allegedly beaten up on Thursday morning by Wajir East MP Rashid Amin in the parliament building.

It is alleged that Gedi engaged him in a heated discussion before she was assaulted by the MP.

The MP demanded to know why Gedi, who is a member of the budget committee, did not allocate any money to his Wajir East constituency.

Gedi narrated that she was with her Homa Bay counterpart Gladys Wanga when she met the Wajir East lawmaker.

“He called me stupid and nonsense and then he beat me. I was shocked, I could not believe it. He came again and hit me.

“I told him that Wajir County was only allocated Ksh100 million and we had to allocate money to only areas of priority to the region like water and roads but he told me that was nonsense,” she highlighted.

The Home Bay Woman Representative confirmed she was present during the incident citing, they were heading to the Protection House when Amin met her.

“They started to converse in Somali so I just stood by to wait for Gedi. A few minutes into the conversation I just saw him hitting Gedi on the cheek, she was crying and bleeding. I didn’t know what could lead to that.

“I was surprised that a colleague can assault a female member,” Wanga narrated.

PoliticsBuhari Can Lift 100m Nigerians Out Of Poverty, Get Stable Power – Engineers by etcsines(op): 4:31pm On Jun 13, 2019
@titiloyeblog.com

Two indigenous electrical engineering firms have affirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government can really lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, through the stable power supply.

This was also as they said that, the stable power supply is possible if the federal government can decentralize power generation and others invest in solar energy.

Chief Executive Officers of Havilah-Trend International Limited and JO-Global Engineering Limited, Dr. Robinson Ehiorobo and Engineer Jerome Idoko Onoja stated this in Kaduna on Thursday during a free training they organized for engineers from Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, ministries and others.

According to Dr. Robinson, “Nigeria cannot get a stable power supply with this old practice of centralized power generation. If we must get it right, there is a need to decentralize power generation to the state level. The national grid cannot transmit the required power to every part of the country.

“Another way out is solar power. If the government can invest in this alternative source of power, we will get there. All we need is get 20 million Nigerians to install 1kilowatt solar in their homes, then get them off the national grid, our problem is solved, because all we need in the country to have stable power is 15gigawatt and if 20million Nigerians install 1kilowatt, we will have 20gigawatt,” he said.

Similarly, Engineer Jerome Idoko Onoja said, no nation can develop beyond its power generation level.

“If you see any country that is prosperous, check their power sector. Also, if you see any country that is poverty ridden, their power generation must be very poor. For example, all the textile factories in Kaduna closed because of epileptic power supply,” he said.

The participants numbering about 60 were trained in new technologies in the power sector and how to improve power.
