If the Supreme Court follows Section 140(2) of the electoral act, the right thing to have been done was to order for a fresh election. It's very clear.
APC should take this case to ECOWAS Court or even maybe International Court of Justice.

Check the review case of Zamfara instituted by APC. SC, threw it away and APC was asked to bear the entire costs. Because it was not properly filled. The went back and did proper filling and the case will be dealt with on Tuesday. |

Reference: Okay. But the number one reason for ambulance calls which consume a lot of resources to the goverment and consumes huge resources to the NHS is drunkeness and alcohol poisoning.
That is a society that cares despite the fact that alcohol consumption is a personal issue and drunkeness a product of habit.
So what do they do. They save lives as a priority then seek to and pass legislation around age of consent, alcohol content in liquor products, business hours for bars and taverns and the almighty taxation to make it morw expensive. All because the goverment knows it has a responsibility towards the health of its citizens despite the liberties they enjoy.
These are the countries that work because the people donot act out of sentiment to protect mediocre leaders but put them under severe pressure to act in favour of every citizen they preside over.
And that is why folks like you fall over themselves to emigrate to those well run countries but unfortunately cannot summon the courage to rise above sentiemnt to make yours similar.
By the way suicide is a public health issue in most developed countries I know of. Read up and get informed. Do you think people don't commit suicide in those "well run" countries with so called "working systems"? Pls go and do some research on suicide rates in Japan, France,Germany, USA for instance. They all have far higher suicide rates. Does it mean they are also suffering from bad governance or poverty that you people are trying to spin as the reason anyone commits suicide? I can help you with a link here to have a look at the statistics: http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/suicide-rate-by-country/

Crime › Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by Eteka1(m): 10:09am On Feb 16, 2020 |
Reference: That is the social or civic responsibility of goverment. You have child welfare there for those who abuse children. Every suicide has a reason and society led by goverment does not fold its arms and watches people kill themselves and others.
Goverment can as well say it is not its business who contacts the HIV, it did not send anyone to u guarded sex. But that is classic third world thinking.
You seem to have a mental disconnect as to what goverment is all about and I can understand it comes from generations of feudal rule followed by colonial rule that has made goverment appear as a heavenly establishmemnt and its members some divine untouchable beings to be worshipped and adored.
Oga. Goverment is simply a set of people we chose to represent us to handle our collective needs and project our collective ideals under a law we collectively make. If you feel goverment shouldn't care it simply means you donot care.
That defines the kind of society a people chooses to live in. Little wonder Nigeria is like this. Personaly I just cannot understand why Nigerians have a very low expectation of themselves. We live very brutish, uncultured, uncaring lives. Numbed by nothing. Its inhuman please. I cannot agree with you that government can do anything about the way people handle their breakups. You shouldn't be putting relationship issues in the same category with HIV please. |
Crime › Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by Eteka1(m): 8:15am On Feb 16, 2020 |
Reference: Oga. Whether you like it or not. Every death is a goverment statistic and ultimately a goverment responsibility. When the statistic becomes visible it will certainly become a political issue because folks will be seeking explanations, answers and solutions from the leadership they elect.
If I run my car into a ditch and kill myself you may say it is not goverment"s business, it is my fault, but when hospitals are getting filled with corpses and cases it will certainly become a political issue because the role of the goverment through the FRSC will come under scrutiny.
Once again donot be beclouded by sentiment. The number of suicides on that bridge alone in the past few years is visible and a cause for concern and the goverment should wake up and take note. It is a political matter. They either solve it, slow it or make way for those who care and can.
That should be your minimum duty as a citizen of this country who cares about his fellow man above his personal interest. To hold those in office accountable for the welfare of all men and women of this country.
When a gun man runs riot in the USA and shoots people it instantly becomes a political football. The argument doesn't start and ends with the mental state of the shooter. People question gun laws and regulation, question police profiling, question the second amendment. Here we hold no one accountable except blame the victims. We have all read stories of people drinking sniper because of being jilted by a boyfriend or a girlfriend, and many other personal reasons like hearing voices in their head telling them to kill themselves. Tell me how the government is responsible for that. |
Crime › Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by Eteka1(m): 7:17am On Feb 16, 2020 |
Reference: Oga you are speculating. She is certain. The man's suicide may be out of personal reasons or not. Goverment actions on the ither hand particularly the one in Lagos and at the centre will certainly drive many to suicide. No doubt.
How many tricycle riders in Lagos would have contemplated suicide over the past few weeks due to loss of income and debts on investment. The Arab spring started in Tunisia when a poor hawker's goods were seized and he burnt himself alive.
The impact of goverment's decisions can have widespread and devastating consequences on the most vulnerable in society. Goverment's good policies and acts can bring prosperity to a people and nation. Goverment's bad policies and acts can bring penury and misery to a people and can drive those at the edge over.
Be sensitive. You are still speculating. In the absence of irrefutable evidence that this man committed suicide due to a government policy rather than for personal and or emotional reasons, It is improper for one to come to a conclusion on one side or the other. |

Mazk: sworn affidavit that this are his names or a change of name affidavit? If there is no change of name affidavit, how was he able to use his waec certificate to secure admission into the university? I think this guy bought to certificates and when he found out his mistakes, he got a sworn affidavit.
Secondly, what is the date on the affidavit? If the affidavit are recent, how did he get admitted into a school without valid proof That he changed his names?
I think this man bought the certificates from those who bear similar names The affidavits are old cos that is what he has been using in all elections. |

See below a screenshot of a news story published last year when the high court ruled. The question is, are sworn affidavits no longer valid?
