Politics / Re: Plane Crash Averted In Enugu by EuroMeko(m): 8:57pm On Jun 20, 2011 |
Loosing one engine on an airliner is usually no cause for alarm, but requires immediate deviation to the nearest airport for landing. So it seems that the Captain took the proper steps. However, the cause of the power loss should be investigated. Do we have an equivalent of FAA (USA) in Nigeria? |

JerrCa: Absolutely true. I have a Toyota MR2 with over 280kmi here in the states, perfect running condition, very minty. I think the issue here is the deception. |

I agree with OP and would like to add that the use of abbreviations is just silly on a nuclear level. |

Car Talk / Re: Motorbike Riding is Fun. Don't you Agree? by EuroMeko(m): 8:21pm On Jun 19, 2011 |
Thanks for sharing all the pictures. I am very happy to see a robust bike culture in Nigeria. Before I left in 86 I had a Triumph Tiger 750 (ex Military), couple of buddies had BMW R90 (ex Police) and also Suzuki GT550 and 750. We would see the occasional imported bikes but very few but there were tons of Honda Roadmasters and the Moblettes (sp). Also really appreciate the touring Guys. The longest distance was from Abeokuta to Ilorin for me, typically would be from Abeokuta to Ibadan or Ijebu Ode. If possible for the team doing the West African tour, can you send me details? I would love to participate in this. For the others about safety, it's a frame of mind and one must make their own choices. The only other thing that can equal the sense of freedom that I get on a motorcycle is only when Iam flying a plane. Those that don't ride cannot understand. Yes, it is inherently dangerous hobby but life itself is a dangerous endeavour. I'll rather go while doing what I enjoy doing. Be safe out there and yes, p[retend that most motorists are out to get you. 1 Like |

AGARIautos: Absolutely, $14k for yours is a sweet deal and has lower milage, IMHO Here's a comparable one to the Yellow one for $11k, then you add shipping, clearing, etc and all the Nigerian customs drama http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/mcy/2440244643.html |
Nairaland / General / Re: Why Do U (wud U) Ride A Motorcycle (power Bike) by EuroMeko(m): 7:20pm On Jun 19, 2011 |
chic2pimp: Ducatis have been described as the Ferrari of motorcycles. Here's one of mine Before I got this Duck, I went through a string of other sportsbikes, most notable was my Honda CBR10000F Hurricane (I received a speeding ticket of 155mph), very fast and powerful bike as do most Japanese bikes but the Ducatis shine with their unsurpassable cornering ability. On outings with my bike club, I will get passed on straightaways by even most newer 600cc Suzukis but I most always catch them up in corners and pass them. Ducatis are basically race bikes with street headlights and turn signals, they have impressive brakes (for very very late braking), good torque twin cylinders that enable you to start applying speed and accelerate while you're still leaned over. For comparison purposes you can get a new Suzuki for about $6k but need about $14k for a Ducati and some in the over $20k range. Be safe out there Guys (and Gals) and always ride with not just at least an SAE helmet but with full leather outfit. |

Emperoh, I enjoyed your initial article and would love to read more. You are answering some questions that I had. I buy and sell classic cars in the USA but I only deal with private party purchases, I never buy from auctions, etc One question I would ask you is this, is there a market for classic cars such as these in Nigeria: |

Romance / Re: Are Prenuptial Agreements A Death Knell For Romance? by EuroMeko(m): 1:38am On Jun 18, 2011 |
Just food for thought, there's no such thing as a iron clad prenup when it comes to high earners with sizable assets. There is a speciality of divorce business that deals with divorces that have prenups. At some point, using an example of a close friend, do you want to pay an Attorney $100,000 to defend your prenup or do you just want to pay your Ex $75,000 and be done with it. So back to the original question, it is not a death "knell" per see but I will not marry without one in place. Post nups are rare and only a complete dunce will sign one. Typically a red flag will be raised that something is amiss. Someone on here hinted that marriage is a business relationship, it is. Ask anyone that has had the misfortune to divorce in the US and they'll tell you. |

I didn't read all the posts so pardon me if this has been answered but how much do you trust the information you received about the alleged impending marriage? Could it be a test from the Ex to gauge your reaction? |
Romance / Re: Can You Date A Lady/guy With A Very Poor Command Of The English Language? by EuroMeko(m): 9:19pm On Jun 15, 2011 |
No, I won't date a non English speaking Guy or any other Guy under any circumstance as I am a Guy , but I will date a non English speaking female with no issue and have done so many times before. Look at it as an opportunity to learn about another culture/language. English is not the only non vernacular language in the world Besides as you grow older you will learn that life and happiness is not what other people think about you or who you're with. |
Travel / Re: Life In Various Foreign Countries: From My Experience by EuroMeko(m): 9:16pm On Jun 15, 2011 |
@ VicJustice First I want to salute you on making the effort to travel, and doing so to seemingly non touristy places. It's a gift and opportunity to be able to travel and see the world. I hope to do same in the near future but on the African continent. Secondly, according to the title of your post "Life In Various Foreign Countries: From My Experience", you did say My which signifies a singular perspective and not necessarily representative for ALL Men so I am not sure why the angst towards you and your post. If your travels ever bring you near Los Angeles in the future, I'll love to buy a fellow traveler a beer. |
Travel / Question On Evening Arrival/transport/accommodation @ Los by EuroMeko(m): 9:09pm On Jun 15, 2011 |
Greetings and salutations: I am planning to come home for a short visit in July and I have a few questions. (1) My flight will arrive at 420P, I am thinking that it may take another hour or so to clear customs, etc. What are my chances of getting suitable transportation to Ibadan that night in a safe manner? (2) In the event that it is not advisable to try to get to Ibadan that night, is there a recommendation for a reasonably low cost hotel near the airport for the night? It's just me so I don't need 5 star accommodations but I also require clean and efficient accommodation. (3) Is it reasonable to expect taxi cabs outside the airport at that time of the day? Thanks for any insight. |

I suppose that it depends on the situation but I consider even $50 a waste of money. |
