meryl4merit: Hehehehe.... Truth is when ASUU finally calls off this strike I will be confused like hell... Cuz I abandoned my books since d day ASUU called on d strike and after the strike comes exam in my school.... What will be your own reactionWhich kind school will be writing exams immediately? What have the students learnt since barely 4 months strike that will warrant them to write exams, even if they have covered sme of the semester course outline, they still need sme time to recall those after this long strike. I wonder the kind of results and graduates they will be turning out this time around. Anyway that's Nigerian educational system for you, where students are compelled to write exams even without proper tutoring just to meet up the academic calendar. |
Well, they have succeeded in talking the whole talk and our ears are tired of hearing the whole news let them better start doing the whole doings to bring this strike to an end. ALL WE'RE SAYING "CALL OFF THE STRIKE" ![]() |
@Ruddie. Well it is a certification with a professional body in line with my Career in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Safety. Not really an institution of higher learning, but an institute in US. But moreover, same applies to all |
I think I will like to know about this, but from the look of things, and what I know. Exemption Certificate from its meaning 'Exemption'- that is exempted from going or doing something based on some reasons or circumstances, so I believe it should come before the service year exonerating the individual from going and not after the service year But will like to hear from someone with true facts and maybe probably someone who has been exempted. But @ Op, I think this should have gotten better attention and result if posted on the NYSC section of the thread |
Well I may not have any experience on how indigenous establishments here in Naija regard online certification programs due to our limited mentality towards the power of ICT and digital era. I am very much aware that many multinationals regard online certification as much as they regard offline Certification, because I don't see any difference in that, if not the convinence in learning at your pace of time and comfort outside the confines of classroom and besides some online courses are quite interactive with face to face instructor-led program from your PC, just like the classroom experience. The problem with us(naija) is lack of confidence on authenticity of everything we do, but even at that, those certification can be verified based on the record of student attendance for the said program from the examining body, if in doubt. I will say is just that a lot Nigerians are not technologically-savvy, so have not embraced the distance learning program. Even the so called NOUN distance learning is still in doubt. I have about 6 online certification in Process Safety from a well recognised body in US. And I know how I painstakingly read through each online modules and resources to pass the online course and earn those Professional certificates, and I'm proud to attach along with my resume for any job application |
Hmmmmm.......Short of Words! This report is full of substance o. Only God will help us in this country called naija, who else can one turn to. |
![]() benny4wax: Wife of Nigeria’s president, PatienceSo what? So make I begin dance azonto or skelewu for her for the feat. Good riddance to bad rubbish. ![]() |
God abeg o..make dem no kidnap our President one day. With way things are going.......make me hola......so na like this e go dey be? |
collynzo2: who said 20 is ''just''? Some of your mates are doing youth service now, some are already earning a living. Take away that mentality.Must everybody happen to engage in youth service at that said age. So what's the point of comparing him with his mates that has finished tertiary education at that his age. Are you sure you were even through with secondary school at that age? How many people you know that have done with university education at that age here in Naija, not when ASUU enjoy keeping students at school pass their age. |
harby: If we are talking about curbing examination Malpractices,i think the first step is to provide CERTAIN encouragement to those student who had fairly do justice to the exam and not demolarised them with certain rule or idea of getting them admitted.Let view a scenario of a student using 2013/2014 utme and p.utme as the exams..a student that fairly cross the demanded cut off for polytechnic of 160 or that of university of 180 he worked hard to score remarkablely in his p.utme but there division and manipulation idea deny his admission. For God sake what the meaning of the word "POST",for crying out loud i learnt that word to mean "After", Post utme=AFTER UTME,then why are we hunting student we there past.Take the student in the above scenario as example if he his to write another Utme in 2014/2015 admission year, i can bet it,the student mindset now is to score very High in utme "BY ANY MEANS".Honestly speaking this method is not encouraging student intellectual ability, less student believe after failure there is still need for them to read. I Hereby using this medium to plead those in charge or those doing it should pls STOP,well the only point they might give for doing this is using the UEFA CHAMP league as the arguement bases "sayin utme is first leg and p.utme is second leg",IF that is there arguement i honestly don't know when education is now a football GameOK, I think I would forward your message to the appropriate authourities for approval and further action ![]() |
SimonAndal: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/26/Andrew_Classroom_De_La_Salle_University.jpegAnd come to think of it, these Schools are all government-owned, not even private. So if government universities are these good in such developed countries, how will the private-owned be? We still have a very long way to go. And you can imagine my institution where you have to bend over to avoid a delapidated electric pole and entangled high-voltage dropping electric wire just infront-of my classroom, beside they talk about safety. And who cares? |
ASUU! ASUU!! ASUU!!!.How many times i call una name. Your members should better fight this out once and for all. If na to dey the strike till your demands are met go make Una call am off, I support Una o, because if una ever call am off now to start am next year for my final year to fustrate my life, I SWEAR I go bomb all the universities wey dey naija, starting from University of P•••••••••• .Thank Una stars i dey my IT dis period of strike because.......... Anyway my heart still goes out to my fellow ALUTAS in the struggle who are devastated by the strike.....just take it easy. Think positively always, no matter how hot food dey, at a time i go cool down.ONE LOVE TO YOU ALL! ![]() |
Lions are not good climbers, but simply they are opportunistic climbers. It's sometime strange to see lions climb this height. Abeg no Endtime tinz o |
otokx: ASUU strike - days are becoming weeks. And still counting.................. |
F**k ASUU, F**K FGN, F**K Senate, F**k House of REPS, F**k THEM ALL!. They should all go to BLAZES! Let them know that they can't hold us(the youths) down. No matter what we keep going up guys, even if price of garri skyrocket to 1.00USD a cup. |
Ayima: It is very unfortunite that we don't have any clock that can tell us the exact time ASUU will call off strike. This ASUU strike is an academic bomb,i now hate by books, very afraid if i can even read again when ever we miraclously resume, hmmmm God dey ooo.You better start liking your books pending when ASUU go call off their indefinite Strike as they say |
canalily:And one begins to imagine......... |

collinselvicz: N guyz garantor's form is nt given by d skul. Oh. Its a letter from any reputable person wel knwn in ur society showin dat u r of gud behaviour n dat he is standin for u if u do any tin bad in d skul. N finaly showin dat u r qualified 2 enta d skulI don't agree with you, the guarantor's form is part of the forms you print out from school website during registration but you have to take it to any reputable person to endorse and vouch for your good conduct throughout your stay in school. if it's a form, so why is not being given by the school? Seems you're mistaking it for a letter of Undertaken. You have to sign and the person will also sign. So it's being given by school, it's only the letter of undertaking you will get from a sponsor or guardian. |
Ramanto: i personally blame ASUU at ths juncture because the government has made substantial moves to end the strikeSeconded |
This ASUU Strike may definitely last throughout this year because for ASUU to go back and jeopardize their stand to call off the 2 months old strike will look cowardice on their part because of pride, at this stage of the industrial action. So is either FGN heed fully to the agreement or strike infinito |
tosnat: Its okay guys.we just need to learn from each other.i have learnt from both of you.pls dont engage in a war of words. |
I use lumia 610, though it came with Windows 7.8 . How I wish it is upgradable to Windows 8. So I can enjoy the full benefit of lumia. But nevertheless I'm still enjoy my 610, with Wonderful and HD quality live tiles app on the start screen and more especially it's scratch-resistant Amoled Touchscreen with high touch-sensitivity or what about its vividly-clear picture quality or will i talk about it's Microsoft Office fully-packed app. Oh....Nokia lumia is most innovative smartphone for me...others come second |
INDESTRUCTABLEX: I will still say shut up. Did they tell you out- rightly that you were disqualified because you are not a Niger Deltan? There's no man no man in Schlum, even a friend from Canada, an Igbo guy wrote d exam and he qualified.Guy, no need to stress words with iyou. It was even strictly written on invite they sent us as text, but we thought they will not be strict on that, that's reason I didn't get the internship. I would have forwarded it to your no if I had not delected it. The igbo guy that got it,as you said, did you care to ask which part of igbo state he's from. Afterall Imo, Abia, Some part of Delta Igbo are all igbos but still Niger delta states. So don't get me wrong. I just told you how it was done in PH here. Don't know of any other place. And that's just the simple truth. Beside, you're not in UPH, to know how the selection was done And secondly, don't vouch for what you don't know, As far as Naija is concerned, there must be issue of man know man. Though Schlumberger is a multinational oil company, but here in Naija, most of the staff involved in recruitment process is still same naija. Quite they take candidates based on merit, they will still leave some few slots for man know man. A clear evidence is a Rivers guy,i knew that failed the internship test, but could you believe he is now among the interns, just because he has a strong insider. its only the job recruitment that is done online I can vouch for, but for the undergraduate internship. Guy leave matter |
INDESTRUCTABLEX: Dude shut the hell up and don't spread wrong information here. Although I don't work directly for Schlum Berger, I work for Geo Services and we have some Schlum interns working at our base. 11 people were taken from my school and none of them is a Niger Deltan. Get your facts right.Guy please don't tell me to shut up. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. I am a student of University of Port Harcourt, and I know about six of my class mate that wrote the exam. I and one other are from Enugu state. They invited us for the interview after the exam we took on June, but we were disqualified based on the fact that we were not from. Niger delta states. The other people from Rivers, Imo and Bayelsa were taken. They did not come to our school to pick any best students, don't know how it was done in your school. You can ask any Student of Uniport. So don't tell me to get my facts right because I partook in that test. And the application wasn't even online. So what I don't know if they are still taking based on man know man. All I know is that my classmates that got it started as far back as June/July. |
I've been using HOTMAIL since 1994, and the upgraded version of MSN hotmail is the bomb, I've also tried using Gmail and yahoo as alternative e-mail add, though both are good in their own way, but hotmail gives me the convinence I need, as i just link my hotmail acct to my lumia smartphone, it has never disappointed me. Just that majority of people just go for yahoo or gmail(so common) |
All these private uni, especially covenant, that they will tell you time to sleep, time to read, time to go their church(winners)whether is your church or not, time to wake, time to wee wee, time to come to class, what to wear, as if one is a puppet. I like fed or state uni, though mainly interrupted by strike action. But I will not like an institution whereby you can't decide for urself on what to do, whereby you're being compelled to do everything by order. University education should not only be based on certificate, but more on building an independent and self-reliant person. A graduate of Fed/State unis is all-rounded and well-equipped, strongly-built to face challenges in the harsh Nigerian labour market. That's the simple Truth. I don't mean to condemn any uni be it private, fed or state. All have its own pros and cons. Just my own opinion. |
omicron: While agreeing it is important one learns how to go around tricky questiions, I believe that these are not the issues why people do not get hired. If you are one of the bests and the recruitment is based on merit, then you will be hired. Mentioning any amount does not determine how much you get paid, nor if you will get hired. My opinion though.I think you made a good point there |
tosnat: Please does anyone have a knowledge of the internship and internship test?Guy, are you still waiting for the internship test, Schlumberger has done their internship test since June and strictly for Niger deltans. Their interns had already started long ago. I wrote the test on 22nd June,at same Sasun hotels, Ordinance road, passed but I was later disqualified because am not from Niger delta state. So just forget it if you're still expecting their internship test. It's long gone |
ddeductive1: ANSWER= "I DO LIKE TO HAVE THE SALARY WHICH MATCHES MY ABILITY,AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE SALARY SCALE FOR THIS JOB DESCRIPTION."That's a very good and smart answer. I think you've said it all. Thanks@ ddeductive |
timilehin007: If any of these animals grab person chest am telling you na END TIME TINS for the person ooEnd time prophet always using "End time tinz" out of context. |
35 Views with no post makes me think if am on the right thread. Is that out of 35 viewers, nobody has any meaningful contribution or just negligence. Remember that thing you call trivial and neglect today can be a big challenge for you tomorrow. If I had posted this on the wrong thread, say EDUCATION or ENTERTAINMENT, it would have generated a lot of traffic/response |
