LilMissFavvy: That's a cruel thing to say...It's not about the man for me..It's tempting to say he got his just desserts but the innocent children trapped in this unfortunate melodrama should weigh more than anything else..It may not be as bad in functional nations where government provides several effective safety nets for such children .The loss would be limited to emotional connection to parents but it's a jungle here... Yes, the man deserves all the knocks he's getting but what was the point of chasing them in a car? We don't blame the dead. I acknowledge in these matters emotions take over. She may not even be sure why she took the car to go after them..She just couldn't think straight when she got the information..Sadly, they've turned themselves to guinea pigs..Men should learn from the man's mistakes and women should learn from the woman's..The man never imagined the cascade of events that would follow the seemingly harmless fun on the side..99% of men love their wives much more than any side chick..but men appear to be naturally wired to cheat..That does not excuse them though . Men need to be disciplined and responsible.. 1 Like |

gotnel: There are guidelines in rearing, slaughtering and consumption of animals. It's not common to, for example buy live chicken and slaughter in your home. There are regulations ensuring that the animals don't suffer unduly in the process of preparation. Meat is usually bought, already prepared in supermarkets and market halls. The businesses comply with government guidelines relating to the welfare of the animals. . Even then, there is a very robust campaign from various NGO's discouraging the consumption of meat and other animal products .Animal welfare is taken very seriously in the UK 1 Like 2 Shares |

Threesha: Fake News. Charles' coronation won't take place before mid to late 2023. There's no place in the programme for animal sacrifice. The suggestion is preposterous. Charles himself is an animal rights activist and would never allow such I'm all for culture and identity, but we shouldn't be making wild claims to push our culture agenda. Animal sacrifice is barbaric. It has no place in modern Britain ..It shouldn't take place in any modern society.. 4 Likes |
Autos / Re: 25% Down Payment Of Any Car Of Your Choice by fabienjoe: 8:07pm On Aug 02, 2022 |
SavageResponse: No one actually likes to pay debts. The problem with the nigerian situation is that there are no reliable debt recovery institutions and procedures. People can easily walk away from their debts and damn the consequences..More often than not, there are no consequences. Most creditors are forced to employ unorthodox methods to recover debts. That equally means loans are both expensive and very difficult obtain. That stifles economic growth. Credit is the 'lubricant' of the economy. Without easy access to credit, the economy is stymied.. |

Why would I disclose not so obvious adverse information? I replied that I want to sleep well at night, look him well in the eye and greet him freely even months and years after the transaction. He said he had never seen someone like me, which is a shame because these types of disclosures are normal and routine in most decent countries. Gkemz: You don't always apply clutch while braking. Even if you are coming to a halt, you need to apply the brakes first and apply the clutch only at the point of the car coming to complete stop to avoid stalling, at which point you also change to lower gears or neutral. If you're not coming to a complete stop, you apply the clutch only when you want to change to the appropriate gear. |

oldienavie: I scoff at this sanctimonious posture. She's only human, living in a city full of sin. She got tempted and I'll score her high in the way she managed the temptation. Someone is even suggesting the husband shouldn't allow her continue with the employment that takes her out of her home. What's the meaning of that? What do you know about the family's finances? What if that job is central to their survival as a family? And who says a husband has the sole right to pick and choose the type of work the wife does? Those trying to apply the undiluted biblical standards would tell me how comfortable they would feel if their wife offers them their housemaid to sleep with (as Sarah did to Abraham) or when they suddenly lose all contact with their spouse only for them to turn up three days after to tell them they were swallowed by a fish for all of those three days and taken to another city for evangelism( as we were told about Jonah). I'm sure even the most faithful pastors among them would struggle with these scenarios . I repeat, the woman is only human. I'm impressed with the way she managed the situation. These times are very different from biblical times. Even the bible has the old and new testament... 1 Like |

Karleb: Money matters a lot to those that don't have it. We all need money but there are far more important things in life than money. Money is seen as a god here simply because of the perversive poverty. Many don't have it. Most of the people that acquired it grew through extreme poverty, want and deprivation. It's therefore the most important thing to a significant proportion of the population. But that is wrong. We should work hard to earn a living but we should focus more on humanity. That's the only thing that could guarantee our survival and that of our coming generations.. 1 Like |

Jonathan's failure was so colossal we thought we couldn't sink any lower...We're between the rock and a hard place..PDP and APC..Gut wrenching mentioning those two destroyers.. But by far my biggest worry is the unguarded exchange of hateful expletives by Nigerian youths here. It breaks my heart. Do these youths understand their hateful antics here can mar their future? Instigating hate against others based on ethnicity or religion can bar you permanently from civilized countries like the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia etc..These are not things to toy with. It makes nairaland very repulsive. I get very close to crying for Nigeria each time I open a thread in nairaland...and yes, I'm a proud Igbo. JosephXavier: I don't think the biggest issue here is fund. To me, it's evidence. The OP doesn't seem to have any. No picture. No evidence, unless perhaps the incident was captured on CCTV, which the OP did not state. Some are talking about insurance. Yes, it makes things easier but not necessarily more straight forward. Your Third Party insurance won't fix your car in the event of an accident. It's for the offending party if the fault is not yours. If you're at fault, you're on your own. Comprehensive insurance will, but they would still thoroughly investigate the accident. So same questions being asked would still apply. If the fault is not yours, they won't pay but they may help chase the faulty party. If you were at fault, they would fix but would raise your premium on renewal. |
Car Talk / Re: A Break Failure Accident And The Best Way To Judge The Case At Onikan Lagos by fabienjoe: 11:02pm On Mar 08, 2022 |
BobPRESS5: Your insurance company would not repair damage not caused by you. The person at fault, intentionally or not should do the repairs. Ideally his or her insurance company would carry out the repairs. The first step in an accident is for the two parties to exchange insurance details. The premium usually increases after such repairs. It goes into a database so that even if the person decides to change insurer, the history would still be accessed and a higher premium still applies. But here, most drivers have fake insurance and so negotiate an out of pocket payment in the event of an accident. No road user has the right to impose costs, injuries or inconveniences on others. 1 Like |

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Graduated Bottom Of My Class But Got A ₦120m-Per-Annum Job (Photos) by fabienjoe: 12:07pm On Feb 23, 2022 |
That's a country where business is real. Competition takes place and businesses are looking for innovation and cutting edge to get ahead. My experience with interviews in developed countries is that no one actually asks for your qualifications initially. They read your cover letter and CV ( no doubt low grade won't be a very good advert, but graduating from an Ivy league institution is) and invite you for an interview if they consider you a good fit. You're hired purely on your performance at the interview. Your certificates are needed for documentation after you've secured the job. . In Nigeria, in contrast, businesses are not necessarily competing on equal keel. They need you to just do routine jobs requiring no special skills or innovation. Most businesses here thrive on government patronage rather than innovation and are more inclined to employing people that have connections in government, which is why you have terms like Politically Exposed Persons'...The richest person in Nigeria deals on pedestrian goods like sugar, flour, cement etc..Richest men elsewhere are innovators like Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Bill Gates etc..I'm not aware of any innovative product that came out of Nigeria . 1 Like 1 Share |

Romance / Re: Bro Code: How Do I Report This Guy To His Manager? (Screenshot) by fabienjoe: 10:39am On Feb 17, 2022 |
The guy should have known the girl better before embarking on that potentially embarrassing adventure. He obviously didn't. A girl that makes no particular choice but demands the most expensive drink available, obviously has self esteem issues. .. or the man may have boasted about his wealth and the woman was only being cynical. Secondly, you take a girl to a location you can afford. There are locations you are fairly certain you can afford any bill they throw at you. Finally, a confident man could very easily ask how much that costs and tell the lady politely he didn't prepare for such an outlay..She could offer to support, make another choice or simply walk away. If she walks away you're better off without her anyway..The waiter could still have mentioned any affordable drink as their most expensive, seeing the guy's uneasiness at the strange request.. |

backbencher: @ the bolded...That's key for me. However, not all drunken people are in that category. There are levels of intoxication. And I agree with you that no one should have sex with anyone drunk or not, who has no mental capacity to make decisions. |
Sports / Re: Italy Issues Global Warrant For Robinho After Rape Sentence by fabienjoe: 8:01pm On Feb 16, 2022 |
backbencher: Sorry, cupcake, I'm not in any way holding brief for Robinho. He deserves his comeuppance..It's bad enough for anyone to play these types of silly games. Robinho doing so, given his status, is the pits. But I don't think having sex with someone drunk is illegal. Put in another way, I don't think one or both parties being drunk in itself makes sex illegal. Couples routinely go out, get drunk, have sex and sleep off without incident. I'm aware there are cases of date rape where a woman arrives with no intention of having sex but gets plied with drugs and alcohol and raped. That is clearly criminal. For me, what happens when you're with a drunk person should be dictated by common sense. One could be inebriated but still retains enough consciousness to consent to sex. The law recognizes this, which is why I've seen no law anywhere in the world that criminalizes sex with a drunk person. Having said all these, I'll always err on the side of caution in these mstters. Any suggestion that a woman has no capacity to give consent, would always set the alarm bells ringing for me.. I'll certainly not gamble! |
Sports / Re: Italy Issues Global Warrant For Robinho After Rape Sentence by fabienjoe: 4:37pm On Feb 16, 2022 |
backbencher: Can a woman be convicted of rape for simply having sex with a drunk man? These matters tilt heavily against the men. I'm not holding brief for Robinho, though. He should know better. Taking turns to have sex with same woman is irresponsible. She may have argued with one or two of them and the lawyers may have advised her to rope everyone in so as to have a stronger case. Having said that, Robinho shouldn't have gotten involved in that kind of game, given his status. |
