He had no business messing with a woman that had already rejected his advances. He could easily get away with that in Nigeria, but unfortunately, he's in a decent country where women are better respected..Don't ever get mixed up in cases like this abroad. You have absolutely no sympathy. Once a woman says no to you, leave her alone.

They are fully aware of such scams..Yes, with his employment history, he most likely had taken out a generous life insurance..but having seen a psychiatrist relatively recently and admitting to suicidal thoughts suggests suicide is the likely cause of death...

Look at it this way...not every seizure is caused by epilepsy.. Children experience seizures when they have high fever. That does not make them epileptic..Your girl needs to see a specialist for proper evaluation. Nothing here would be of much help..

To keep the facts straight...it's not 'Nose mask', it's called face mask. The other is 'face shield'...Yes none of them fully protects. Face Mask protects better than face shield. Your comment is rather too hasty and overly optimistic. Not achieving full puberty at 28 should certainly be something to worry about. He didn't fully describe his physical features which could give a clue to what's going on, like feminine features, voice not deep and some other very private features..A dermatologist does not begin to scratch the issues. He needs to see an endocrinologist for a full hormonal assay...That is the only way to tell if he's normal and if not, how bad the situation is..But the story doesn't sound like he's normal..

In fact, anything rubber or plastic expires. Only that they don't have exact expiry dates. That's what even the manufacturer cannot tell you so they put the production date and you follow a safe maintenance guideline from say 5yrs to a maximum of 10yrs. Beyond, 10yrs no tire can be guaranteed even if it never touched the ground. Still this doesn't mean it has expired.

You can see a brand new 2009 tire which doesn't look expired, but when you start using it, it detoriates very rapidly within a month.

I think different posts on this subject are not necessarily contradicting one another. Tyre being vulcanised rubber, certainly degrades. But there seems to be no consensus on the exact date it 'expires'..like you see in drugs and foods. The 4 years from date of manufacture fixed by FRSC is ridiculous and has no scientific basis. The western world is mostly concerned with the depth of the thread and not the age of the tyres...and yes, most of the tyres are made by them..So if they consider the age of tyres as such a big issue or if they have recorded more accidents from tyres of certain age, it should certainly be included in the regulations, but that doesn't seem to be the case...Only Nigerian FRSC would explain how they arrived at the 4 year limit..

Nigeria is irredeemable. Corruption is genetic..These are people that 'pray' several times a day and are very quick to 'defend their faith'...I haven't seen more hypocritical people..

I am American and once again I say " You don't know anything about America". You said no one ropes you into anything unless there's something you are hiding which is absolutely bullcrap. You see, in the US there is an action/crime called RAILROADING when the law does exactly what you said, rope innocent people into something that they didn't do or knew anything about, this has been going on for centuries and continues to happen everyday.

Everyone serving time in prisons are not guilty and are there because of RAILROADING. If you like I can give you some cases of RAILROADING. The US justice system was designed and created to justly serve Caucasians and criminalize others. The protesting that is going on today is because people are sick and tired of the injustice. A lot of people believe the system is broken and needs to be fixed but in reality the system isn't broken it is working just the way it was designed to do.

The system (The US Constitution) needs to be rewritten, starting with the 13th amendment which still supports slavery under certain conditions which explains the mass incarceration of black people. The amendment clause that proclaims black people (meaning YOU) as only 3/5th human (that's why whites won't have a problem with blowing your head off because they don't see you as full human) needs to be abolished as well.

Sorry about my mini thesis but this was a teaching moment.

So I have this American patient who I recently came across. He's a fat dude who is like in his late 40s but has a very jolly and likeable character. I introduced myself and we got talking afterwards.

After a while of chitchat, he asked me where I was from. I told him to take a guess and he said said, you sound like you're Nigerian. I told him (regrettably) that I was Nigerian. He started smiling and told me that he had a Nigerian girlfriend and that we both had similar accents.

He then started telling me recent occurrences that had befallen his girlfriend in Nigeria. He said the lastest story was that she was in Abuja and as she was on her way to the airport in a taxi, the taxi had an accident and she was seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital. He said that the hospital demanded money before treatment started and he had to hustle about $4000 and send to her in order for treatment to start.

He said that after a week of her being in the hospital, they wanted to discharge her despite her still being in pain. Because she had exhausted all the $4000 on treatment, he said the hospital had threatened to discharge her on the streets and he was trying to borrow more money to see if he could send it to her so they could continue with her treatments.

He furthermore told me that the girlfriend said that she was a Nigerian American citizen who was currently stuck in Nigeria due to her passport having expired and also due to Covid lockdown at airports in Nigeria. He said she had asked him for $300 to renew her US passport from American embassy in Nigeria.

Another thing that he told me was that just before covid struck, there was a similar pandemic which happened in Nigeria early this year and that his girlfriend had contracted the disease and he had to send her $2000 for treatment. Right now he said he's broke but is waiting for like $2000 disability check from the US government next week which he will send to her as soon as the money clears.

As he was telling me this tale, I was so angry with Nigerians and how they take advantage of people in love to scam them. I wanted to swear for the scammers


I'm at a dilemma here. Do I tell him that he's being scammed by Nigerians or do I continue to be professional and just ignore it. Because I don't want him to think I'm involved with it because these oyinbo people can turn everything on your head and accuse you that is your people in conjunction with you that are scamming him. They are that crazy.

The good part of me wants to help him but I'm hesitant that it may turn out bad for me. Please matured responses.

Point of correction, 'Oyinbo' can NEVER turn anything you know nothing about on your head. It's still the Nigerian in you that is telling you that. I doubt you live there. You're probably fantasizing. But if indeed your story is true...simple case to deal with. Call the police and express your concerns..The police would deal with it professionally - investigate the crime and counsel the patient..

I wonder how these lies take hold. Where in Nigeria does a professor earn N70k? ASUU are the ones always lying to Nigerians and they believe them. Nigerian lecturers are not worse off compared with those elsewhere, even in more endowed countries. I schooled in Europe and I know what the lecturers earn and their lifestyle. They should stop deceiving Nigerians. The only reason these agencies are opposing IPPIS is that they pay themselves what they shouldn't earn. They are stealing from the rest of us and blackmailing the government. They are competing with members of the National Assembly on corruption because that is always their reference.

Those who thought ASUU were greedy about their decision on IPPIS and it's disfunctionality are gradually seeing some other government parastatals protest about the same system. NASU and SSANU who initially accepted to be paid through the IPPIS platform can't even cope anymore with discrepancies in salaries and loads of deductions.

Stop misleading people. The major issue here is stealing and corruption. They don't want transparency in their salaries and allowances. IPPIS captures every legitimate entitlement. ASUU is the cause of all these rubbish. Their agitations have largely become self serving and other agencies are doing copycat protests.

That is why patents are granted to such novel drugs, giving the company monopoly of production and sale for several years. They are free to fix the prices without competition. They only become cheaper down the line when the patent expires and other companies are allowed to replicate the formula. That the reason HIV drugs were too expensive initially but there were protests especially from Africans as the drugs were out of reach of Africans who were having a huge HIV burden. Generics were then discretionally allowed to be produced in India for Africans even before the expiry of the patent, purely on humanitarian grounds. The pricing are not necessarily out of greed. If the companies don't invest in research or if they go under because they could not operate profitably, humanity suffers. COVID vaccines are likely to come out expensive but I expect governments to subsidize them.
