Car TalkRe: My Truck Impounded Today because Of Tinted Permit by Fajzay: 1:45pm On Dec 03, 2013
abatically: it is an offence to drive a tinted vehicle be it aftermarket or factory tint. The constitution states that the glasses should be changed within 14 days after the vehicle has been imported into the country. Now since OP has accepted that he is guilty and would rather pay the fine than settle any police officer, then I guess the case is settled. Just be prepared to be delayed for a few days because these policemen sure know how to get people frustrated.

http://www.nigeria-law.org/MotorVehicles(ProhibitionofTintedGlass)Decree.htm
The question is why do we vehicles come with factory tint. To conserve the AC coolness within the car. Its a shame that many of our lawmakers are stark illiterates / educated illiterates that could not understand the effect of a black material wrt heat. In a tropical country like Nigeria, tint is very very needful and there shouldn't be any need for a permit. Permit to do what? - Just another money making venture (public exploitation). In other countries, they have the specification for the UV films. Some 30% and some even allow up to 70% UV depending on which of the glasses majorly the rear shield.
Car TalkRe: My Truck Impounded Today because Of Tinted Permit by Fajzay: 1:38pm On Dec 03, 2013
abatically: So much for standing tall against corruption, but u didn't mention breaking the rules. It has been announced several times that users of tinted glass risk N50,000 fine. I am sorry but the OP will be fighting a needless fight if he decides to get a lawyer like u advised. His chances of winning are very slim and he might end up spending more than the N50,000 fine. In as much as I hate corruption but in this case, since the truck has been impounded its needless fighting, just pay the fine and next time get a tint permit. If I was the OP, I would do everything to prevent the truck getting to the station even if it means bribing them, this is Nigeria and some things cannot change.

Nope!!! Kudos to the guy for standing his ground. When you break the rules, you stand firm and pay the penalty. Fine, you pay the fine but to appropriate quarters.

sunnyprof: most people here are just talking about the your girlfriend. Why are men so chauvinistic ? where the real problem there is the man! If he can go ahead and Bleep your fiancée that he knows very well, then he has no regards for you. that should have been a no go area for him eve if he is an expert in cargoing girls of all kinds. I thought you said he has a harem of them? so what do you expect.

And yet everybody is blaming the girl only when you know the guy's trade is to fall any girl that caught his fancy.
What are you talking about? Both the friend and the girl are culprits. Simple
As per the girl, even if u want to cheat, not ur boo's closest pal. Like someone said, one day she will bleep ur dad and would say it was a mistake!!!

FlyinNaija: Mr LRNZH,

Please don't waste your time arguing with these clowns who get paid to sit in front of computers defending PDP/GEJ/Stella #team40laptops. They are just proof of our poor economy, young people willing to sell their souls and that of their generations unborn for food. I wonder how much laptop dogs get paid.
As an aviation professional I can tell you that the situation is worse than what passengers get to see. Failed air conditioning is a standard feature of Nigerian airports. The "remodelling" or "transformation" cannot be used as an excuse because MMIA does not use a centralised AC system. Individual halls are cooled using standing AC systems. Lack of maintenance due to corruption and incompetence is the reason for this story.
I was initially sceptical about the initial story blaming the "unclothedness" grin on Delta Airlines because I cannot technically reconcile the fact that passengers will be sweating while seated in an aeroplane that has flown through -56 degree Celsius air for 11 hours.
Spot on!

ROSSIKE: Please stop this romanticization of elitism. I prefer we have 135 average unis than 5 or 6 elite unis for pampered elite kids. Do you know in the 70s majority of Nigerians were stark illiterates? Today literacy rate stands at 65% at least. I think we've come a long way.
Am not in support of few unis in the country but if we look at what we've got today, its simply quantity and not quality. Lots of educated illiterates out there who passed through the 4 walls of the uni ... but nothing to show forth for it. To be simplistic with the fact ... Nigeria is way way below what it should've been in today's stat whatever u want to use as the KPI.

texazzpete: And that is your yardstick for development? That people are driving jeeps in town? You truly think food is cheaper these days?
What are the trade offs today? Corruption is institutionalized, oil bunkering is rampant, insecurity is at an all time high, what with Boko haram and the rise of kidnapping.

Funny how you cite people driving around in jeeps as evidence of development...yet by march next year, your master plans to raise import duties on tokunbo cars , making it harder for the kids you cite to buy jeeps. Progress, eh?
Does this new tax rate take effect in March or Janhuh

Ms Nas: You're joking right?
You wish to tell me it's that easy to pass through Nigerian Immigration like that? Or even the Customs? Wake me up if I'm sleeping!!

You've never heard of those eediotts refusing people passage just because they refused to drop naira notes? Asking for the money as if it's their salary? The above scenario might apply to other country's Immigration officials, but definitely not Nigeria's! angry

Technically, these people are not supposed to dip hands into your luggage, but NO....Nigerian customs will even dip legs. one had the audacity to tell me I will miss my flight if I don't drop something! Nonsensical fellows
So did u finally drop some coinshuh *wink

Car TalkRe: Murano/mdx Touring by Fajzay: 6:42am On Oct 12, 2013
Dyt: U are so daft
Did u take ur stewpid time to read?
Animal
Dyt, Just read your post. I guess by now, u must have made your decision/bought the ride of your choice. Like Sultan / Electra80 has already pointed out, you cannot compare the Murano with the MDX, they are in different worlds. There is what they call total cost to own. If I purchase a Murano for lets say $10 and maintain it over 4 yrs for $5 then could only dispose it for $2 cos Murano's got no real 2nd hand value. Or I purchase the MDX for $12, maintain it over the same period for $6, yet can still dispose for $7. You'll agree with me that the murano becomes pennywise pound foolish. It'll just be synonymous to someone opting to take a 3 hr walk rather than pay N500 bus fare and after landed in the hospital and got charged for N2,000.

By the way, I ride a 2004 MDX touring which ve purchased since 2008. I can tell you, I don't have any issue with the car. Only Engine oil, filter and brake pad change at regular intervals. As a matter of fact, my mechanic has fitted brake pads that has Nissan on it, cos they are the same type of break pads. My engine has never been opened for repairs. The only thing ve changed on that car in 4yrs + is engine seat (15K), power steering hose (10K), fuel filter (27K) & front 2 shocks (30K - Belgium) asides the normal 3-4months car servicing. And the ride drives smooth.

So don't get misled by the first comment. And also you didnt have to insult sultan, he's only making u understand that the 2 cars stand no basis for comparison. I hope this helps if you haven't made your choix

Meanwhile someone advice you go for a Benz, hmmm ... if you are the type considering maintenance cost, do not move any inch close to Mercedez, let alone Benz. U'll wish you never did. I changed my Benz S-Class front 2 shocks (Air suspension) earlier this year for the cost of 300K. Benz is expensive to maintain

RomanceRe: How Can My Sister Marry A Security Man? Tufia! by Fajzay: 8:06am On Oct 10, 2013
Heavy_g, security man should have a life and a gud one at that. Its only in this part of the world you are condemned via your vocation which I do blame on the system that's put a wide gulf of disparity between vocations. Go check out the bus driver in UK and the likes. They are living fine. This security guy could even be a 2.1 graduate thats just been affected by the Naija syndrome at this moment. Come to think of it that even someone like me having spent 5 yrs of my life within the 4 walls of a uni had to work in a cybercafe earning N7,500 like 8yrs ago before I could get what I dream of and can imagine within the last 7 yrs of my life ve earned salaries that even you might not imagine possible, sometimes hitting 5digits earnings monthly in USD. So free the guy, free ur sister if this particular guy has got something upstairs. Even if he doesnt have a cert. some of the biz moguls today never learned from a uni.

Scun: If that flight had crashed, I would hhave wished the victims to burn in hell. Foolish people. Let them continue to fly DANA, when they die they'll expect everyone to shed crocodile tears for them.
I guess you are the foolish one here, we talking about lives you mentioned you'll have wished they rot in hell. Have pple stopped flying Airfrance, Kenya Airways, Asiana and all other airlines that's had a crash in times past. This is the reason why there are 2 engines in an aircraft. An aircraft engine can fail due to numerous causes. What I'll not be in support is flying an aircraft knowing you only had one functional engine before takeoff

Immune#1:
Airbag blinking isn't normal and it could be a real concern if the bags have already been engaged.
Using A/C all the time isn't bad per say;but fuel consumption level is definately higher especially if you use it when driving below 60km/hr.
I will suggest you stop using mere water;then flush your radiator entirely(reverse flush preferably). Then re-fill the radiator with a mix of water and coolant proportionately(70-30 or 50-50) depending on your car brand.
Rather, just flush the cooling system and buy radiator coolant from any standard gas station

InvestmentRe: Getting A Bank Loan Without Collateral: How? by Fajzay:
You have 2 options to acquire a loan without a collateral.
1) Are you a salary earner? You can take a PLAS loan {monthly repayment i.e capital repayment + interest cannot exceed 33% (1st bank) or 35%(GTB) of your monthly salary}. Recently took a facility from GT @ 17% interest rate without collateral.
2) If all you have is ur business, contact BOI (Bank of Industry), they don't give you the money. They visit your already running business and help you to upgrade. They go with you to purchase whatever equipment you need and install it for you. They also keep a tab / eye on the biz. Interest rate is 6%. Mind you, they don't offer such services to biz that's just starting, they do for already running biz that needs better equipment or needs expansion. My 2 cents

steveec122: 210km/hr on Nigeria roads!!?please tell us the truth;how many hit and run killings have you done?
Its possible. Very very. Have got pals who call themselves 200+ king of the road. Meaning they do achieve over 200KM/hr going to the north regularly. The highest have don wiv my Benz S-class (V8) on Abuja road is 190km/hr even though it can still attain 260km/hr and I did a 195km/hr on my MDX driving along that Ife-Ilesha expressway en-route Akure
