I am unapologetically a hybrid fan, till next life, Take it or leave it, standalone systems are gradually becoming obsolete.

Deye and Sunsynk and a few other brands are taking the lead. Their inbuilt MPPT are the best so far, they will suck the juice out of your panels before considering any other source.
The configurable Gen-Port option makes it possible to have your heavy loads turned off and on according to the battery SOC and available energy from the Sun.
Configurable "Time of Use" makes it possible to tell the inverter when to use Grid to charge your battery.
Configurable Protections from unsafe Grid sources are the bomb. For example you can set the inverter to ignore grid if the incoming Ac voltage is not within 200V and 230V. You can also tell it to wait for some time (say 1-5minutes) before accepting grid when "Nepa brings light".

We now have Hybrids with 1000HVDC (High Voltage DC Input) both on battery Input and PV inputs, meaning that they do little or no energy conversion or inversion on the DC circuits. Say you have battery banks of 1000VDC that can charge with 200-1000VDC source, and PV array of 800-1000VDC, so your HV Hybrid Inverter just passes the Voltage to the battery terminals without worrying itself. Blue Carbon has such function where you connect the PV directly to the Battery, Oh yes you heard me right. No external CC or Hybrid required because the MPPT is built into the Battery.
Many of these functions are not yet available on the Voltronic based Inverters.
People should not be discouraged from getting Hybrids, rather you point out the functions and safety features to look out for when considering a Hybrid Inverter.
To Prospective Hybrid users: Do a good Earthing, Get a good Stabilizer is possible, Check out the interesting features of the Hybrid Inverter you are about to buy. If all pans out, go for it.
Truth is, Hybrids are here to stay.
Please let's stop instigating fear into people who are contemplating on startups with smart systems.
All my inverters are hybrid.

Even if we run away from hybrid inverters, in other aspects of our lives we may still be doing hybrids.

Only the very rich today still buy separate tuners, separate amplifiers, separate CD/DVD/Bluray decks, separate tape decks, separate LP record decks.

If you can afford buy 2 of the same inverter and keep one in cold storage for the day of doom if it ever comes

The market prefers hybrids (combos) and the manufacturers have listened

Private jets dey hardly crash... I think our aviation sector is one of the best sectors in Nigeria... Dem dey manage and maintain am well, regulatory bodies 2 dey do their work well... Rich people no Wan die

I drove from Bida to minna in Niger state and I lost 3 tyres angry because of bad road
Nine years ago, I drove from Abuja to Bida (meaning I had to pass through Niger)

All was rosy on the way to (drove in daylight) , on the way back, (it was a night drive) I lost one tire and had to use my doughnut spare, and had to drive at speeds less than 50km per hour.

I got into Abuja around 2 am even though I left Bida around 5.30 pm.

It is sad to hear that after so many years that road is still in bad shape

Sorry for your loss.

Do you still have your Sienna?
How much would it cost to drive a family for 1 day within Abuja?
And if you don't have it can you link one up to a sensible driver who still has that type of Sienna?
Deal is for tomorrow for the whole day.

You can drop a means of contacting you if you are game.

Thank you chief the total wattage is less than 60watts for the cctv.. nothing else is connected..
What is the voltage reading at cut-off?

Sabotage suspected!

Set up CCTV to monitor the inverter set-up itself and not just the compound.

Does the inverter record to the cloud? Review footage.

Something is not right.

One of my client is having an issue with his setup:

1.5kva inverter
1 230A Tubular battery
4 solar panels
And 30A charge controller mppt

Now the system charge well and work for a week but after one week the system will switch off !! There is no much load on just a cctv camera setup!

Please what could be the problem !?
I assume the battery is 12v

We do not know solar panel capacity (how many watts) so we cannot say if it can charge the battery properly

We do not know the CCTV wattage drawn ( we need to calculate CCTV wattage x number of running hours)

We also need to subtract CCTV wattage drawn from the total wattage available from the inverter/battery combination

A 12-volt battery connected to a 1.5 kVA inverter can theoretically provide up to 1500 watts of power. But no inverter is 100% efficient so we may be looking at 1200 watts to 1400 watts continuously.

The answer may lie in solving the above mathematics.

I just bought 575watt original Jinko panels from the dealer here in Abuja. It cost 160k per panel which is far better than transporting from Lagos. Plus, the dealer delivers to your location after purchase.
Which dealer did you patronize?

Bought Royal Ceramics tiles (60 x60) 5,300 but I strongly suspect I could have gotten it fat 5,000 if I did not have the misfortune of buying through a middleman,

Next time I want to buy I will contact the company and ask for their authorized resellers in Abuja
I did this and yet someone was still able to play a fast one on me and earn cool money into the bargain.

Details later.

Sometimes you cannot escape learning the hard way.

I beg to cheap in here. I do the same analysis when buying solar PV
So, I am not alone. I almost got the 670 watts panel but after adding cost of freight from Lagos it did not make economic sense..

If I can find a cheaper way of shipping it to Abuja, I will reconsider. They wanted to add an additional 40,000.00 Naira to the cost of the panels.

hi everyone,, am having a hard time choosing between canadian 600w panel, jinko 550w and 580w panel.. am on a tight budget and want to replace some old sticker panels i have...

i would appreciate your comments..

thanks
The calculation that helped me decide which panel to buy:
To calculate the ratio of watts to dollars for each solar panel, we'll divide the wattage of the panel by its price.

555-watt solar panel:

555 watts / $166,000 ≈ 0.0033 watts per dollar

600-watt solar panel:

600 watts / $202,000 ≈ 0.0029 watts per dollar

670-watt solar panel:

670 watts / $224,000 ≈ 0.0030 watts per dollar

Comparing the ratios, the 555-watt solar panel offers the highest ratio of watts to dollars, indicating that it provides the most wattage for the money.

Substitute dollars for Naira

Add the cost of freight to the cost of the panel for a more accurate figure

Is it really true that there is a fake and a genuine polysterene board for ceiling works?

But my installer said nope. We need to see and be sure we are buying right.

So I hesitated abit.

I have practical experience in this area. The keys are substandard, China-made keys.
They sell for between N7,000 and N13,000, depending on which shop you are buying it.

Fairly ok engine with keys are not that type you are seeing on the door and they start from N20k upward. Which Nigerian carpenter would want to use a 20k door engine on a door that less than 50k will finish it?

Just be gentle with the key. Oil the key hole at intervals because they are made of rusty bad steel materials. They are only quoted in shiny paints outside.
Everything you said is true.

Everything is wrong with the construction industry in Nigeria.

If you want to be sure you aren't cheated buy cement from the factory in trucks. Some sellers rebag the cement and reduce it to 45kg.

9 inch block is now 8 inches.

Nails and screws are fake.

I bought a packet of screws and decided to count them. I saw 350 from a packet that is supposed to contain 500.

I cannot remember how many times I have had to change supposedly new door lock engines.

Just before the dollar left the 900 territory for good I imported all the screws I was going to use for my kitchen cabinet construction.

After reading everything you have read last night I am also going to import door locks so I can have peace of mind.

You can't find low VOC adhesive in the local market. At least I can't find. Still relying on the stash I got from Shoprite before they shuttered their handyman section.

Like you observed if you really want quality import every consumable you need for your construction.

I'm so scared that I go to only companies with the authorized reseller tag to buy cables, even if the price is the same with MSRP or lower I can't buy cables from the market cause I cannot be sure it is not a clever copy.

Same for all my other electricals.

Why go through that long process when you can get from dealers in Abuja ?

JA Solar, Jinko and Longi all have reps in Abuja that can supply you here. If your in the DIY Telegram group, send me a DM.
I am not. Will send you an email.

I wanted to get Canadian Solar.

But the cost per watt isn't making sense after adding up the cost of transportation.

I will have to stick to those already in Abuja so I can bring the cost per watt into reasonable territory.

Those of us who personally import solar panels from (Lagos to other parts of the country) what reliable means of logistics do you use?

Reliable and cost effective because I got a quote of 20,000.00 from the company to the loading point in Lagos and another 20,000.00 to Abuja and I consider it unreasonable to pay the same amount within Lagos as I am paying to Abuja.

The route is Lagos to Abuja

Attention to detail is what makes the difference and is a big differentiator when it comes to troubleshooting, both as a hardware and or software engineer. Back in the day, I would boot a client system with Ubuntu (my preferred Linux distro at the time) to access hdds that were corrupted, especially by viruses, then copy the necessary files from my various Windows versions to replace the corrupt files ( i had 3 ex hdds, with 3 partitions each that I had installed windows on for this purpose). To date I don't use any antivirus app on my devices, I use Ubuntu to delete any virus on my system (I had a nasty experience with Avast antivirus). BTW, I love you already. Matter of fact I've sent a dm.

this ya question sounds some how Oooo

if I get you right, you want to know if 1 chargeControler could be connected to more than 1 set of batteries.

I do this already with some of my arrays, I have 5 solar arrays by the way.
but I wouldn't suggest doing this for a client. You have to setUp a switch (more like a changeOver) and it could be possible forgeting something.
Yes to the bolded.

It is for myself

Inverter loads are on a seperate DB from main utility DB

Does anyone have and RCCB or RCO in between their inverter power supply and their devices?

Is it OK to set one up?
